Import DMP file into Oracle 8.1.5 on Windows 2000

How to import DMP file into Oracle 8.1.5 database on Windows 2000 ?
Please mention a coding example
Thanks,
Vivek Gupta

Import has a lot of options, so it depends on what you want to do.
C:\> imp help=y
will show you all possible options. An example of full import :
C:\> imp <username>/<password>@<TNS alias> file=<DMP file> full=y log=<LOG file>

how to import *.dmp file Through Oracle SQL Developer (3.2.20.09) ?

    You do not.
.dmp files are created from our Export and Data Pump database utilities and are proprietary files. You use the corresponding Import (or Data Pump) utility to import the data.

  • Is it possible to import an Oracle 10 (export .dmp file) into Oracle 9 db ?

    hi Oracle Guru's
Is it possible to import a oracle 10 (export .dmp file) into an oracle 9 database ?
I tried & got the following error ...
IMP-00010 not a valid export file, header failed verificationperhaps their is a work-around ?
    thanks

    Hi
You can take export from a previous version and import to a later version. Having said that, there is still a workaround to do what you want.
On 9i server add a connect string for your 10g instance. Then use 9i export utility to export 10g data. That way your export will be compatible with 9i. You can then import the data in your 9i instance.
To create connect string you can either use Net Configuration Assistant or manually edit TNSNAMES.ORA file in your 9i server.
    Hope it helps.

  • Import .dmp file in Oracle 11g in Linux

    Hi experts,
I m new here, please tell me how to import the database as .dmp file in Oracle 11g Release in Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5.
As i tried to execute this command:-
    **$ impdp username/password@orcl file = FILENAME.dmp full=y log=log.txt**
    but it gives error as:-
    **bash: impdp: command not found**
Now please help me about this.
    Thanx.
    Abhishek Kumar

    Hello,
    **$ impdp username/password@orcl file = FILENAME.dmp full=y log=log.txt**
    but it gives error as:-
**bash: impdp: command not found**First, if the command was not found it means that you don't have the right environment variables. So, be sure to be connected with the right OS User (oracle for instance).
Secondly, the parameter FILE is not used with Datapump. Instead you should use the Parameter DUMPFILE and, more over, you should better specify a DIRECTORY.
So, as said by Azar, you should read the documentation and see the differences between Datapump and classical Export/Import utility.

  • Reg import dmp file.

    hi friends
what is the command to import DMP file in Oracle 10g database.
how to import this file in particular schema..
    pls. help..

Prior to import you must have below requirement,
    1. Directory created on DB where you have your dump file, you must have priviledge on this directory.
    2. dump file on above mentioned directory.
3 use imp if you have export your dump with exp command , use impdp if have exported your dmp file using impdp.
    4. Also you must have correct priviledge on exp, expdp utilities.
try to run 'impdp help=y' on your putty, it will open help for impdp.
hope it will help you in some extend.

  • How do you import data base dmp file in oracle 10g

How do you run data base dmp file in oracle 10g

    Examples..
    Table Exports/Imports
The TABLES parameter is used to specify the tables that are to be exported. The following is an example of the table export and import syntax:
    expdp scott/tiger@db10g tables=EMP,DEPT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=EMP_DEPT.dmp logfile=expdpEMP_DEPT.log
    impdp scott/tiger@db10g tables=EMP,DEPT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=EMP_DEPT.dmp logfile=impdpEMP_DEPT.log
For example output files see expdpEMP_DEPT.log and impdpEMP_DEPT.log.
The TABLE_EXISTS_ACTION=APPEND parameter allows data to be imported into existing tables.
    Schema Exports/Imports
The OWNER parameter of exp has been replaced by the SCHEMAS parameter which is used to specify the schemas to be exported. The following is an example of the schema export and import syntax:
    expdp scott/tiger@db10g schemas=SCOTT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=SCOTT.dmp logfile=expdpSCOTT.log
    impdp scott/tiger@db10g schemas=SCOTT directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=SCOTT.dmp logfile=impdpSCOTT.log
For example output files see expdpSCOTT.log and impdpSCOTT.log.
    Database Exports/Imports
The FULL parameter indicates that a complete database export is required. The following is an example of the full database export and import syntax:
    expdp system/password@db10g full=Y directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=DB10G.dmp logfile=expdpDB10G.log
    impdp system/password@db10g full=Y directory=TEST_DIR dumpfile=DB10G.dmp logfile=impdpDB10G.log

  • Import a 10g DMP file into a 9.2.0.5 instance

Is it possible to import a 10g DMP file into a 9.2.0.5 instance? Thanks
    in advance for your thoughts.

No, do NOT run the catexp.sql from 9i in your 10g db! That was only a valid method with Oracle 6/7 and Oracle 7/8!
Just use the Oracle 9.2 version of exp to create the dumpfile from the 10g database. You can use SQL*Net to connect to the 10g db from your 9.2 server connecting like system/manager@tnsname. Then use 9.2 imp to import the dumpfile into your 9.2 db.
If you have access to Metalink please refer to the following note for full details on compatibility between Oracle releases for exp/imp: 132904.1

  • How to convert Oracle *.dmp files into something that SQL can read ?

Is there a method I can use to convert Oracle *.dmp files into .txt files? .xls files or something??
    Any and all suggestions appreciated!
    Thanks,

    Hi
you can't convert your .dmp file into text or xls file though you can see the contents of your .dmp file using parameter SHOW=Y in your import command. It will just show the contents of .dmp file and will not import the objects.

    Hi
Why are you trying to import BPM zip file are you trying to configure the out of the box workflows?
They are something that need to be deployed from the process admin on BPM.
There would be the .exp file you would need as its BPM 10g that you would need to use.

  • Import data from a Fixed Length File into Oracle database

    Hi,
I would like to import data from a Fixed Length text file into a table using HTML DB application.
As of now, i have a .sql file(that uses external table) to import the data into Oracle tables
I would like to integrate this in my HTML DB application so that the user can directly import the data into the table.
    Sample data
    XXXYYYYZZZZZ
Data should be read to table that has
    Col1 Col2 Col3
    XXX YYYY ZZZZZ

    Hi,
I would like to import data from a Fixed Length text
file into a table using HTML DB application.AFAIK, fixed length imports are not something you can do directly with the HTML DB tools or available APIs.
As of now, i have a .sql file(that uses external
table) to import the data into Oracle tables
I would like to integrate this in my HTML DB
application so that the user can directly import the
data into the table.Any fixed-length data needs to have a specification associated with it that indicates which character position begins a new column and what each column represents. Some also include what datatype should be used for each of those.
If you really want to do this I would suggest that you create a table that you can store the file spec in. It would probably have columns for field name, start position, length or end position, datatype and any alias/column name you might want to apply. You would then use this table in a PL/SQL procedure (probably a package with the main processing procedure and various supporting procedures/functions) to read the file into memory, apply the file spec to each line and then do inserts into your table.
Obviously, this is just a concept or strategy. Implementing it will depend on your PL/SQL skills and determination. If you want to pursue this strategy I'm sure you can find some jump-starts by doing a search on the PL/SQL forum.
This may not sound like an answer - but the answer is you need to code it to fit your requirements. Hope that helps.

  • How to download Oracle EBS patch to import source file  into FDQM

    Hello Experts,
I am not able to find patches for importing source file from Oracle EBS into FDQM.Actually I have HFM,FDQM,ESSBASE,Planning, erp, epm, calculationManager in my virtual machine.I didn't Install Oracle EBS
Please tell me how to import source file from Oracle EBS like Flatfile from HFM into FDQM and share me what I need to install regarding EBS to Import and register the EBS adapters. It's urgent please share asap.
    Thanks in advance.....

There are not any EBS Adapters for FDM.
If you are just importing a source file from EBS, you would need to setup an import format to parse the source file in FDm and then assign the import format to the location that will be used to load the target system and run the import process.
If you are looking to pull directly from EBS, you would need to use ERP Integrator (ERPi) to connect to oracle EBS and then use the ERPI adpater in FDM to pull the data from ERPI into FDM.
Can you be specific on what you are looking to do?
