    How do I write a javascript code to open InDesign File, import Doc, save and export to pdf?

    Hi hasvi,
    Need Template(.indt), textframes etc for the following script:
    var myFolderInd = Folder.selectDialog();
    var myFile = myFolderInd.getFiles("*indt");
    app.open(myFile)
    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var myDocName = myDoc.name;
    var mySaveFile = app.activeDocument.save(myFolderInd.fsName + "/" + myDocName.split(".indt").join(".indd"));
    var myFolderDoc = Folder.selectDialog();
    var myFile1 = myFolderDoc.getFiles("*doc");
    mySaveFile.pages[0].textFrames[0].place(File(myFile1))

    app.activeDocument.textPreferences.smartTextReflow = true;

    I imported and opened a word doc to pages.  When I went to edit all I got was highlighted boxes of text....no cursor or keyboard.  How do I edit an imported doc in Pages?

    No, it's a document I created and it's not locked.   I did it at work and sent it to Pages so I could work at home.   It opens but I can't type or edit.

  • Wright of a doc in ibooks

    hello there,
    any idea to find the Weight  of a pdf doc in iBooks?

    Are you talking about the font weight or the size of the PDF in iBooks?
    If the size (i.e. the amount of storage memory required) there is no standard size, it depends on the PDF. How long the document is, how many pictures, etc.

  • Size & scale images before import or let iBooks Author do it?

    I'm importing images into iBooks Author and wondering if I should size them and compress them to roughly the size I need them on the page thus redicing their file size. Or go with the highest resolution and quality and just let iBooks Author compress and scale the pictures. Wonder also what gets the best result.
    Is there any benefit to importing high resolution TIF or highest quality JPEGs???
    Any help, thoughs, tips appreciated.

    Open  the Help files and check the section dealing with Graphics.
    Better, if you have an iTunes Connect ( if not  get one you will need it) account you should open it look for Deliver your Content, top right are a group of PDFs download them.
    One is the Asset guide - which  give full info about  graphics. Including.. Tiff is not acceptable.
    Maximum image file size is 3.2 megabyte. For iPad retina ( and  basically everything)  2048 x 1536  rsolution is of choice really, subject to the  file size and the books size max of 2 gig. Unless all your images are intended for full screen,  re-size to suit your layout.
    iBA does not compress or scale anything.. thats your  job.. and if you get it wrong.. the  book will be rejected by the preview team until you sort it out.
    Save yourself  work and  time, download and study the asset guide and the  help files.

  • How do I move docs from iBooks to GoodReader, How do I move docs from iBooks to GoodReader

    I am a novice and a Windows user. I started downloading docs and putting them in iBooks or PDF app depending upon the nature of the doc. I have now decided to use GoodReader as a standard. I cannot move the docs from iBooks or PDF app to GoodReader - I have docs all over the place. How can I rganise them? Any assistance would be appreciated.

    There isn't an easy way, as far as I know, to do it directly on the iPad, as the iBooks app doesn't allow you to transfer PDFs to another app. You could open each PDF individually, email it to yourself via the 'share' icon (the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it towards the top left), and then use 'open in' in Mail to open it in GoodReader - but if there are a lot of them then that will be time-consuming. Or you copy them to GoodReader via your computer's iTunes via file sharing : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094
    Even though they aren't iTunes purchases, you should be able to copy them from iBooks over to the Books section of your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, and you can then find where they are stored on your PC by right-clicking one of them in the Books part of your library and selecting 'show in explorer' on the popup - that will tell you where they are stored so that you can add them to GoodReader via 'file sharing'.
    I don't know about the other app, but if you can't copy them directly from that app to GoodReader then you might be able to copy them off the iPad via file sharing, and then add them to GoodReader

    I have an external HD with mostly mp3 music, but some important docs I need to keep, I want to buy a mac desktop, will I be able to use my HD on the mac

    Yes, though if the drive is formatted as NTFS, Mac OS X will not be able to write to the drive without you either installing third-party NTFS drivers or reformatting the drive.

    Using iCloud?
    Found this in the iBooks Help Center ...
    About using iBooks with iCloud
    Your books, collections, highlights, notes, and bookmarks are available automatically on your computers and iOS devices—just use the same Apple ID to sign in to the iBooks Store.
    If you buy a book on your Mac, it’s automatically available on all of your iOS devices with iOS 6 or later and with Show All Purchases turned on in iBooks settings. (Books made with iBooks Author aren’t available on iPhone or iPod touch.) To see all your purchased books on your Mac, choose View > Show Purchases in iCloud.
    If you start reading a book on one device, you can pick up right where you left off on another device. Collections, highlights, notes, and bookmarks are also available on other devices when “Sync bookmarks, highlights, and collections across devices” is selected on your Mac in the General pane of iBooks preferences. On your iOS devices, turn on Sync Bookmarks and Sync Collections in iBooks settings.
    If you’re not seeing your info on all of your devices, make sure you’re using the same Apple ID in the iBooks Store on your Mac and on each iOS device. Also, make sure syncing is turned on in the General pane of iBooks preferences on your Mac and in iBooks settings on your iOS devices.

  • Does Pages import .doc or .docx files

    Hi
    I am thinking of purchasing Pages for my MacPro.  Does the programme import .doc and/or .docx files?
    Many thanks

    Yes it does, but the conversion is not 100%. Pages and Word handle i.e. tables differently. Maybe a free application like LibreOffice will suite you better if the import of Word files is important.

  • Importing on an iBook

    Hey all,
    this may sound like a simple problem and im sure it will probably be something very obvious but its driving me mad!! I have a JVC GR-DVL150 miniDV camcorder and when connected to a 350Mhz G3 it imports fine (on iMovie 3 and iMovie HD). But, when i return home from college to work on my iBook, iMovie refuses to recognise the camcorder even though im running the same version of iMovie, using the same cable etc...I have tried running in Classic, deleting plist files from preferences, all to no avail. Is is something to do with firewire?!! Im new to Macs and am very lost....please help!

    so, we do know:
    camera is fine, cable is fine.. (otherwise, the G3 wouldn't recognize it..)
    obviously, the fault lies at the G4...
    connect your camera (connect it to power-line, just to exclude some weird effect, that a camera running on battery isn't recognized...)
    launch the "Apple Profiler app" (under the Blue Apple, upper left)... click on "firewire" ... does it show the camera in its profile?
    if NOT...
    switch camera & Mac off, disconnect Mac from power-line, disconnect battery of iBookG4 ... wait 5-10minutes.. that should reset the firewire ports...
    try again... look into the system profiler... still "no device"...?
    bad news... probably, the firewire board got toasted... :-/
    if sys profiler SHOWS your camera as some firewire-connected device.. then we "just" have some weird software problem... post back......

  • When importing photos with iBooks Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the imported photo?

    When importing photos with the iBooks Author Gallery widget, is anyone aware of a technique for simultaneously importing the photo's description (or jpeg file name) and writing it into the iBook Author caption field for the corresponding imported photo? I have 4,800 stills to import and can't imagine it's necessary to copy and paste the description for each.

    As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

  • Importing .doc with embedded images?

    I have a word doc which has an image embedded in it (jpg, I think). When I import it into Pages, there is an empty space where the image would fit, but no image. If I click in that space the image frame appears. How can I get the image itself to appear?
    Thanks.

    Finally, I think I have figured out all my java issues.
    to import java classes all you need to do is enter the following in the source code of your bpel process. This is places after the last line of the process and before the partner links.
    <bpelx:exec import="java.util.*"/>
    <bpelx:exec import="java.lang.*"/>
    <bpelx:exec import="java.rmi.RemoteException"/>

  • How can I transfer a word doc to iBooks

    Hello everyone,
    When I get an attachment on an email, like a word doc or a PDF, is it possible to move that to iBooks for easy viewing at a later time, and as a sort of filing system. I only seem to have the option of printing the Doc.
    Thank you, I am using an iPad2.

    I bought into the argument that Apple was a good company but now am beginning to change my mind. The attitude that blocks my IPad from using the Kindle app to purchase directly from the Kindle store, or from reading my IBooks on my Mac or Macbook Pro, is so anti-consumer as to be a blatant disregard for those who purchase IPads.
    Add this with the efforts to keep the Samsung Tab off the market and it produces a pretty sad picture.
