Import error "not enough room on "drive" to copy..."

Hello.
I have a built 2.8ghz dual xeon workstation that has a 640gb system drive and a 3.8tb (raid 5) storage drive and am unable to add any more songs/moves/music with out always getting an error of not enough room on 'drive' to copy all of the requested files.
right now the storage drive only has 1.2tb used(all itunes in a single library) i don't think its a item limit in itunes, because it will allow me to add new items as long as i don't allow itunes to move/copy/organize the items.
I know the drive is not full because i can still add files to it via windows.
any help would be appreciated, yes i searched and did not find anything that helped. please let me know if you need any more information.

I encountered the same problem today. Reading other threads I saw where a person identified the bug. I will file today as well.
I purchased an album from iTunes - I don't recall what they call the product - LP view perhaps? It is the one with the liner notes and such. Anyway some of the the files in this folder have a .itlp suffix. If I skip this album the rest moves fine.
So basically first run a find to locate any folder/album with the offending suffix. Then select your entire iTunes library. Then un-select the items associated with the offending album. Then right click and select consolidate. That should work.
I did not do exactly this. Since I have a large library I selected 10-15,000 songs at a time and chose consolidate. This also works.

  • Not enough room in heap room

I am trying to export a movie in Imovie, but I get an error Not enough room inheap room. Can you help me?

    Update directed to dshaffer23
I split the project into two 20 minute segments as you suggested. The first segment finalized, but the second half did not. Then I broke the second segment into two parts and each finalized.
Since the initial first and second segments were of approximately the same size, I would have expected that both would have finalized. There are 302 pictures approximately 600-700K each. I only used fade to black transitions. There is no sound in the project.
I rebuilt a new version of the project from scratch (keeping all the old files and segments in iMovie) and the new file failed to finalize or be exported as a movie. On each of those attempts iMovie told me to close iMovie because of not enough memory memory.
iMovie has been requiring more and more time to open (currently about 30 seconds) to apparently create thumbnails) as more projects have been added. I now have 20 projects with a total of 3,000-4,000 pictures contained in those projects. There are also numerous videos in the events library.
Could it possibly be that all those thumbnail and files are what are  taking up excess memory? If so, can (or should) the projects be moved from iMovie project folders(s) to another location on a drive? (I move finished projects to other drive locations within iMove which creates a new project folder when they have been completed) There are currently only 5 projects that have not been completed.
I completed a large project last year with a project file size of almost 10 GB which I finalized and created a QT movie and imported into iDVD.
I am unsure if I can move files out of a project folder to another folder using finder action that those items could be put back back into a project folder in the future. If I can move them, I experiment to see if that project would then finalize.

  • Cannot consolidate iTunes library--"not enough room"

    Hello,
I'm totally frustrated here.  Just purchased a 3T Western Digital NAS drive to keep my family's media libraries. There are three of us each with our own iPhone, laptop, & iTunes library (although we do share an Apple ID).  I set up a share on the NAS for each of us, then mapped it on each computer as a network drive. Then I changed the iTunes Media folder location in the advanced preferences to point a new folder on the mapped drive.  Next step was to consolidate each library to force iTunes to copy/move the library to the new location.  This worked perfectly for the first two libraries and each one is able to sync it's respective iPhone with no problems.  My problem occurred when trying to consolidate the third library, received an iTunes error that stated  "There is not enough room on <share> to copy all of the requested files."  This is not true, I show that there is still a little more than 2T of free space still available on the NAS drive, and I am able to copy files there outside of iTunes without difficulty.  I read elsewhere that I could consolidate the library in smaller chunks by selecting items in iTunes, right-clicking, and choosing consolidate files.  This worked for about 1/3 of the music, and then I ran into the 'not enough room' error again.  Here is the pertinent information for the troublesome library:
    Operating System - Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1
    iTunes version - 10.4.1.10
NAS Drive - 2.00 TB free of 2.71 TB
    iTunes Library - 345 GB (10,129 files)
If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, your help would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA,
    Debbi

To get an idea of what is being stored where download & run the script iTunesInfo which should output something like this:
I'm interested in the block of 4 results starting ITL location. If your profile name shows up somewhere replace it with <Name>.  It is also worth checking under Edit > Preferences > Advanced to see where iTunes thinks your media is supposed to go. My script estimates the setting based on the location of the first media file it can actually find.

  • Error message when importing from CD -Not enough room on "" to copy all of

I am just importing CD music onto my laptop and after 316 songs I get the erro message, "There is not enough room on "" to copy all of the requested files. iTunes will copy as many files as possible."
Why the error and how do I fix it?

I am having the same problem and I know my hard drive is definitely not full

  • HT1229 an error message while trying to import photos to IPhoto saying there is not enough room.

I have an IMac with a SS drive and a regular hard drive (1 TB). I'm starting to get an error message when importing photos to Iphoto that says there's not enough room on the hard drive. The SS drive says it has only 1 GB left on it, so obviously, somehow the setup is that the Iphoto library is on THAT hard drive and not on the regular one. How do I find the right "library" and how do I move it and where?
    Thanks.

The only way I could fix this was to dowload a free program called iFunBox. Once you've installed that and have it open on OSX, plug in your idevice/ iPhone etc (note: you may need to close any other Application that auto-accesses the device, like iTunes, iPhoto or image capture), then from the left side panel in iFunBox navigate to "Raw file system" then go to the following folder:
    >DCIM>100Apple
...then browse to the video/ image(s) required and drag them to the folder you wish to go on your Mac.
This worked for me first time.
    Good luck.

  • Photos deleted when trying to import to Iphoto when not enough room.

I have tried to download my photos from my camera to Iphoto.  I clicked 'delete photos when downloaded'.  I had an error message that there was not enough room in Iphoto.  When I went back to the camera, all my photos have been deleted.  HELP!

first off - do you have a backup of your iphoto library (you should - if you do not you will lose all of your photos sooner or later - along with all of your other files) - computers, software and people fail and a backup is your only defense
Second - how much free space do you have on your disk drive that has the iPhoto library on it? YOu should always have at lease 10GB free - more is better
third in the future never have iPhoto (or any other computer program) delete your photos - import them and properly disconnect your camera/memory card and wait for at least one backup cycle and then use the reformat command on the camera to reformat you memory and erase the photos
For now you probably can recover your photos using a media recovery package like media recovery - http://freshcrop.com/  AFTER you resolve the space issue - until you do that do not use your camera at all or your computer anymore that necessary to resolve the space- depending on what damage has been done due to lack of disk space using the computer may make things worse
An external drive is probably the fastest and easiest way to resolve the space issue -
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • How do I export from IMovie when "not enough room in Heap Zone" error code appears?   How can I correct,  what to Do.."export movie" insteand of Media browser or IDVD?  Finalize movie?  I want to burn it to DVD!

How do I export from IMovie to Wondershare Creator to Make DVD and share hour long movie when I am unable to "publish" movie on Media Browser of IDVD because the error code "not enough room in heap Zone/ " appears and function is aborted.
I shortened the movie, that is no cure...Correcting date info on clips does not pertain.  Why would Apple throw roadblocks in your way without solving problems they create?
A techie made an appointment on the phone and was totally incapable of addressing the problem.
    What is a heap zone????

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.

  • Processing in imovie, not enough room in heap zone error

Hello, I am trying to process a 90 minute movie in imovie. I would like to process it in regular format and not high definition. Or if I have to process in high def, how do I create more space in my heap zone. The erroor message was processing in imovie, not enough room in heap zone error

I've never set it up since I purchased the computer. Time Machine is off. I'm extremely frustrated. I've tried to export to every possible place and I've tried to share to every option.

  • Illistrator CS6 Not Enough Room For The Window Error; Windows 7 64 bit

Illistrator CS6 Not Enough Room For The Window Error; Windows 7 64-bit
Recieved the same error on files under 2mb; was able to resolve by MAXIMIZING Illistrator window prior to opening file. If that failed, issue was resolved by closing app, removing settings folder from AppData\Adobe and restarting Illistrator. Now, any file over 15mb is unable to open even when attempting the above steps. Also uninstallled and reinstalled app with same results.
    Please advise.

Hi this has happened to me as well. I have been using a file for weeks and this morning I got this message "there is not enough room for the window".
Can someone help me/us? would this be a bug in Illustrator. I have never gottten this error before...
    Thank you so much.

  • How do I restore error message when there's not enough room to sync?

By default, iTunes displays an error message when there is not enough room on the iPod to store all the files that are scheduled for synchronization.
This message also has a checkbox for "Do not remind me again" (or something to that effect). The other day, I stupidly checked this box, and now I don't know how to restore the default setting (i.e., to display the error message). Instead, iTunes just silently does nothing -- with no diagnostic -- if it finds that there's not enough room on my iPod to complete a sync.
    Any ideas?

Right click on your iPod in iTunes and select the Reset Warning option.

In the simplest sense, archiving a file means making a copy that you never change and never discard. You already know how to do that.
iPhoto has built-in archival features, in the sense that it saves all versions of an image that you've modified. As long as you have adequate backups, you don't necessarily have any reason to archive an iPhoto library. If you want to delete images from the working library but still have access to them in case you change your mind, then you do need to archive those images. I don't have a specific suggestion as to how you should do that. You might post a question in the iPhoto forum.

  • Imovie 11 Can't Export Movies NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN THE HEAP ZONE!

I have plenty of space on my hard drive, no other programs are running, and the video being exported is only 6 minutes and 57 seconds long.
I am working on a short film and 90% of the time that I try and export it in 720 I get an error, because there is not enough room in the heap zone. Then after I restart the computer if I am lucky I can get it to export 1 out of 10 trys. It has nothing to do with the title I give the video.
I need the video exported in 1080, but it gives me the same error EVERY TIME! Even when I export to quicktime and use various settings I keep getting the same heap zone error. What is the deal!?! I have exported an hour long documentary and didn't have this problem. I erased all my previous projects and events and still I get this error
    UNABLE TO EXPORT MOVIE

    HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

I have the same problem when trying to export a 720P movie to iTunes.  Reboot did not help nor did renaming the project.  I have an older MacPro with dual 3.0s, 11 Gb Ram and slightly less than 1Tb free space on the boot drive.  This is a software issue, not a hardware problem.  Apple please fix the myriad of problems with iMovie 11.   My productivity has ground to a halt with my 4 month old iLife Software.  How did this software ever pass muster!!!!!  I can't believe anyone would purchase the new version of Final Cut given the horrible product you've included with the last iLife Set.  This is an example of why I left the Microsoft Windows community.  SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!   I usually create 4 to 5 movies a month for the flying community I live in.  I have completed one since January, and it was a mess due to software glitches.   My attempt to re-render an old iMovie 9 creation has been met with failure.  I have projects backing up and really have no desire to finish them or create others as iMovie 11 is no longer fun since it is broken.   I'm tired of iPhoto 11 and iMovie crashing or not working and the reason for spending more on an Apple product no longer exists.  Outdated expensive hardware and buggy software.   Time to sell my APPL stock like Bob Mansfield,  You're ignoring your core supporters and are living off the hype of the iPhone/iPad.  The poor economy has allowed your "halo effect" to endure many recent short-comings - (Mobile Me (how slow and expensive can it be to stream a personal home movie - but don't worry you don't need Blu-Ray)), Mail (why do I keep getting duplicate emails in my drafts folder? and why is it always losing my password - just like Mail on my iPhone), Never providing a stable video card for 2006 Mac Pros, Crippled iPhone 4 for Verizon, no iPad Flash support, iLife Crapware)............where's the Tylenol!!!!!   I need it since I promised an iMovie project for a friend's memorial that I am now unable to deliver.
