Import errors using TIFF, JPEG, BMP, PSD

I've been trying to import as assets or slideshows from Adobe Bridge (using CS2 as my main program) still images with the same message for 25% of the files, that being that Encore cannot decode the media, and perhaps you should find the proper decoder. For Christ sake. I'm using and Adobe product throughout the procedure.
The files are all 8 bit, with no layers, without imbedded file data.
It's like Encore 2.0 isn't talking with CS2 at all, or at least not all the time. Some files import fine, others simply will not.
I'm using the Nikon D2x camera and maybe there is a problem there??? Shouldn't be in my mind. Professionals use professional equipment!!!
I'm just about at my wit's end. I've a deadline here and Encore is proving to be a nightmare.
I've called tech support and they were no help at all. they did suggest converting to bitmap, and that works-- like I say -- all but 25% of the time still. What about my files are corrupted??
Computer is a 3.2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 with 2 GBs of RAM, running Windows XP.
HELP!!

Though far too late for someone with a deadline almost a year ago, one thing that I have noticed when using PSD files in other Adobe Apps is that one should always Save w/ Max Compatibility checked, even though the files are a bit larger. I have all my copies of PS set to this, as the default, but had changed it on one (for some now unknown reason) and Save(ed) several PSDs. InDesign CS2 would not Place these files.
Another thing to look for is the excess baggage (Paths, Channels, etc.), that is necessary when working on the files in Photoshop. I always Save all of that material in my working folder, but then clean it up, when I do the final Save_As to the images folder for Import/Place into another app. I still have that material in the original working version, but do not include much of it, for final output. If I need it for Edit in Photoshop, I can always drag it in from the working version, and then Delete it, when the re-work is done.
I would have loved to hear the answer to Ruud's question from the OP, but assume that he/she found the difference, and just got too busy to share it.
As for the Nikon - should not be a problem. I shoot NEF (Nikon's RAW) and then, using ARC in PS CS2, Save_As PSD, when I have applied my settings and corrections. Never had a problem with this workflow. However, I do Image Size to whatever I will need in the other apps., so the files are no larger, than they will need to be.

  • Is it possible to save metadata to both files in an imported pair?  (Tiff & Jpeg).

I imported many files that were tiff & jpeg pairs (with the import preference box checked 'Do Not treat as seprate files when file names are the same') into LR3.  Since then, i have been unable to write new metadata, such as captions, keywords, etc., to both the JPG and Tif files.  LR3, and now also LR5 both only seem to want to write to the tiff files.  How do i get the metadata easily saved onto the jeg files as well?  (preferably without re-importing as separate files).  Thank you.

    To separate them:
    0. Make sure the 'Treat JPEGs separately' box is ticked in Lr preferences, and
    1.   Invoke the 'Separate Jpegs from Raws' feature of RawPlusJpeg, *iff* it recognizes your tiffs as raw, or
2.1   Rename the jpegs temporarily (to an invalid extension), then resync the folder(s) (that will force Lr to forget about the sidecars).
2.2   Rename the jpegs back, and resync again, reimporting the jpegs.
That way, you won't need to re-import your tiffs, thus losing photo standing (e.g. collections, publish services, ... ) and edit-history...

  • Lightroom 3.5 Import Errors using Synology NAS on Macbook

    Hi all,
I've been trying out Lighroom 3.5 and I love it, with one exception....
When importing my archive (which is stored on a Synology Diskstation DS211j, accessed via an Airport Extreme), I get multiple import errors (around 5% of the total files), saying files are unreadable, unrecognisable etc. Some of the previews are also corrupt. I also get the "Server connection interupted" dialog in OS X Lion too, during the import. After Synchronizing the folder, it successfully imports more of the files yet still with a few errors. After the third or forth successive Sync, the operation is successful, with all files imported.
Now, this would point to a problem with my network connection or my NAS or its drives, however, this only happens with Lightroom. The files are not corrupt as they are imported sucessfully eventually. I work with the files outside of Lightroom all the time, and also stream my iTunes library sucessfully from the same drive, with no problems.
I have imported the same archive into Aperture, and encountered not a single read error or "Server connection interupted" dialog box.
Any ideas what is going on here?
    Thanks,
    John
MacBook Pro, Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM
    OS X Lion 10.7.2

I am having the same problem with my iPad and ios5 since I switched I have had the same issue.  I am a wedding photographer so I transfer about 2000 raw images at a time.  Also, is there a way to see a log of the old import problems.  Once I close out the error window I can't seem to find a way to see what exact files it had problems with unless they haven't been imported to the catalog at all ever and I just do a reimport and skip duplicates.  Sometimes it takes upwards of 5 times for those problematic files to be imported into LR just fine.

    Hi ,
My current client required Chinese Language - ZH (Chinese Simplified) in ECC 6.0 SR3 Unicode System
As per procedure, i have added chinese language 'ZH' using i18n -> i18n Customising -> i18n System Configuration menu.
Later in Transaction 'SMLT', i tried to add the language pack "ZHECC63F.PAT" by pasting & importing from EPS/in folder. The Import is getting terminated stating "Incorrect package format".
Kindly let me know what is the correct format. I have pasted the "ZHECC63F.PAT" file from the Language Installation DVD (51033496) delivered by SAP with license order.

    Hello Ganesh,
You need to restart the import by cancelling it and restarting it again from SMLT.
Just cancel the current import! And we would need to reimport the same with the correct patches!
Following OSS notes would provide you further insights:

  • TIFF/JPEG storage format

    Cheers,
Using TIFF/JPEG-12 (Photoshop CS3/CS4) for long term image storage format  - are there any cons? Images will be in both RGB/CMYK/gray tagged/untagged and subsequently used in printed advertisements (layouted using InDesign)  - high image fidelity is not the goal.
    Thanks.
    Best wishes,
    Rasmus Olsen

    Gentlemen, allow me to explain:
I have a partner with somewhat low bandwidth. This partner will receive images with layers/transparency and return images with layers/transparency. I started with lossless formats like PSD and TIFF/ZIP, but this takes way to long to upload/download. TIFF/JPEG seems to be the only feasible way to solve this. Besides, preliminary tests show no visible difference when comparing highres JPEG with PSD on printed paper.
When I wrote cons I wasn't thinking of image quality degradation (JPEG is a lossy format - I allready know that). Obviously TIFF/JPEG is supported by Adobe and InDesign, but are there be any compatability issues regarding for instance TIFF/JPEG-embedded ICC's? Any possible trouble with TIFF transparency? Etc?
BTW When working with advertisements you will inevitable receive untagged material. Later in the workflow these images will have a profile assigned.
    Best wishes,
    Rasmus Olsen

  • Adding Metadata to JPEG, EPS, PSD, TIFF

    Hi all,
I would like to know how if is possible to a read and write metadata (basically Caption and Kewords fields) to a different kind of files (EPS with JPEG compression, TIFF, JPEG, PSD...) WITHOUT opening them in Photoshop.
I need to manage all from Scripting, usually AS or AppleScript Studio.
At the moment I do this opening them, writing them and resaving them but I would like to know if a more faster and professional way exists.
I know exiftool but I would like to use Adobe routine or products.
    Stefano

Stefano, I would have thought that 'exiftool' was the best solution for you by far. Never done it but if I recall correctly the developer allows for this to be included in your AppleScript Studio app? The problems that you are going to encounter with the Bridge option are No Access to the Application directly from AppleScript, Bridge is ONLY scriptable via Adobe's ExtendScript/JavaScript. Adobe's other Applications allow AppleScript to perform JavaScript so the ONLY way to communicate with Bridge is via one of these and the BridgeTalk messaging system. Although Bridge will alter the metadata without actually opening the file you will end up launching 2 App's if they are NOT already running. If you don't already know JavaScript then the learning curve for what's involved in this process is considerably more than that of the 'exiftool' man pages. Plus I would expect the performance of calling the shell from your app would blow the Adobe route out of the water… BTMO

  • RAW+jpeg+tif+psd all same name import solution found  !!!!!!

Pardon the fact that this reiterates information now part of other threads, but this is an issue of make or break proportions for some users--it certainly was for me. And it needs prominent clarification
So I decided to give itits own thread! I had written off LR for production work when the word got out that the same name solution was only partial in 1.1. I needed to see archived folders with same named sets of RAW, tif, jpeg, and psd images ( or combnations thereof). There is a solution to getting these into LR:
Jim Burgess found that if you import a newly made folder that has a RAW, tif, jpeg, and psd with the same name, it will bring them all in side by side.
I had at first found that none of my existing folders in the db could be refreshed from the INSIDE and do that--all that got brought in was the jpeg to join the RAW of the same name already in there!
After learning of Jim's success, I then deleted a folder that was already in the db that had all four same name but different format files in it with only the RAW showing. I then reimported that folder and it saw all the files with the same name (all four formats-RAW,tif,jpeg, and psd) and ingested them.
Why it can't be refresed from the inside is a mystery to me--or I just haven't discovered any way to do it, and I have tried synchronize folder and reimport repeatedly--neither work. Looks like one has to dump the folder and then import it afresh to get them all--but that for sure will do it! Whoopoeee!
It does mean that if new file formatted images with the same name get added from outside LR to a folder already in LR with the RAW in there, that you will then have to delete that folder and reimport when you go back to LR.
Looks like an incomplete implementation of this feature to me, but a whole lot better than not being able to see all same named files side by side.

It is actually pretty easy for those only wanting to get the jpegs from existing folders, and fine for importing new folders. I am still puzzed why they implemented it this way--or perhaps they intended that one could use synchronize folders to get all the formats in, and this is really just a 'bug'.
In any event, let's hope they finish the job.

  • Import logo using RSTXLDMC prg giving error msg like

    Hi All
    I am importing logo(tif format)
by using RSTXLDMC program, it's giving error mesage "TIFF format error: No baseline TIFF 6.0 file"
can anyone explain me this issue.
    Regards
    Chinna

program: RSTXLDMC , upload .tiff file from C drive . ( type = BMON/ BCOL , text id = ST ..., text = name..so10) INCLUDE name OBJECT ID STANDARD in layout set window .
Save a Logo using Paintshop Pro or Corel Draw as Tiff file. Use RSTXLDMC to convert the logo to standard text in SapScript. When the program is executed, the path and file name have to be correctly specified.
Process could be like the following:
    Run RSTXLDMC
    Enter file name C:\MAIL\COMPLOGO.TIF
    Resolution for Tiff file
    Absolute X-position
    Absolute Y-position
    Absolute positioning
    Reserved height
    Shift to right
    UOM = CM
    Text title
Line width for text = 132
    Text name ZHEX-MACRO-COMPLOGO
    Text ID ST
    Text language = E
    Postscript scaling
Width & Height according to PS scaling
Number of Tiff gray levels (2,4,9) 2
    Then Create a new window 'COMP' with attributes;
    Window COMP description Company Logo
    Window type CONST
Left margin 7.00 CH window width 10.00 CH
Upper margin LN window height 8.00 LN
Finally in the text element , mention
/: INCLUDE 'ZHEX-MACRO-COMPLOGO' OBJECT TEXT ID ST LANGUAGE 'E'.
Please note that if object name is not indicated as 'ZHEX...', the logo may not be printed!
You will not be able to see the logo in a test print. The same will be printed in actual printout.
If you are using two logos in the same layout, the names of the logos should be unique. Say 'ZHEX-MACRO-LOGO1' and 'ZHEX-MACRO-LOGO2'. Else all the information will be overwritten.
If the logo is not EXACTLY TIFF 6.0 , the same will not be printed.
See OSS notes 5995, 18045, 39031 for some inputs.
    regards
    vinod

  • How to compress image files, jpeg, bmp, gif, png, tiff, etc

I am new to Jave imaging, does anybody know how to compress an image file, including jpeg, bmp, gif, png, tiff format.
    Thanks
    JC

    some are already compressed.
If you just want generic compression, it doesn't really matter what type of file they are. A simple approach would be to use ZipOutputStream

    Hi Smash126,
Based on the error message” Could not allocate a new page for database REPORTING' because of insufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY'. Create the necessary space by dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting
autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup”, we can know that the issue is caused by the there is no sufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY' for the ‘REPORTING’ database.
To fix this issue, we can add additional files to the filegroup by add a new file to the PRIMARY filegroup on Files page, or setting Autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup to increase the necessary space.

  • URGENT: Error while importing personalizations using Functional Admin Resp

    Hi all,
We are facing problem when importing personalizations using Functional Administrator responsibility.
We have personalised a standard oracle page in development instance and have successfully exported the personalizations in a file.
But when we try to import the same files in another instance, we get the following error when opening "Exported Personalizations" tab in "Personalizations> Import/Export" tab .
The path ' $HOME/ ' you specified does not exist. Please specify an existing path in the profile 'FND: Personalization Document Root Path'.
We have tried giving different paths in profile option 'FND: Personalization Document Root Path', but it gives the same error for every path in this new instance.
This was not the case with the development instance where we were able to import/export personalizations successfully.
Can anybody give inputs on this.
    This is a bit urgent.
    Regards,
    Anas.

What is the current value in the Profiles Form?
What is the value that is displayed in the "About this Page" -> "Profiles", from the Functional Administration screen.
Can you also confirm if the directory has 777 permissions?
