Import/export and workflow questions

I am using a Canon HF-S20, it shoots in 1080i AVCHD.
When importing into imovie, how much quality is lost by importing "large" and not"full". It seems like the "full" file sizes are 4 times the size. Is "large' going to still give me good results?
And what is the best export settings to preserve as much quality as possible?
I have a PS3, what is the best way to play the exported movie through the PS3? stick the file on a flash drive?
any tips you can give me as far as the best workflow to keep high quality would be great. thanks

I export my Projects from within iM09 as mpeg4/Options: h264, 720, p, 25fps, 3-5Mbit - quality is superb ..
I use Share to Media Browser to export my Large (960 x 540) projects. I export as either Large or HD (1280 x 720). The HD export produces a movie labelled "720p.mov". Opening this in QuickTime, the Inspector reveals the following settings:
Format: H.264, 1280 x 720, Millions; AAC Stereo (L R), 44,100 kHz
FPS: 25 +(Karsten & I are both in PAL country)+
Data Rate: 10.11 mbits/s
For a one hour movie the file size is about 4.5 GB
So, using Share to Media Browser at the HD setting produces a similar movie to that generated by Karsten's export method. However, the data rate is much lower with Karsten's settings - but he is still seeing excellent results. I also achieve great results using Share to Media Browser (HD), but the higher data rate is probably resulting in a much larger file size than Karsten is seeing. Clearly, either method will give excellent results, based on what Karsten and I are seeing using different approaches.

  • Import, Export and Preset settings from TimeMachine

I'd like to recover only my Import, Export and Preset settings of Aperture 3.0 from my backup disk using TimeMachine. Can someone pls guide me on what files to look for and where to find them? (I just reformatted my MBP and hence this query).
    Thanks in advance.

You will find the setting in your User Library in the folder
Your Home Directory > Library > Application Support > Aperture
Everything with "preset" in its name might be interesting to you.
Reveal the User Library by going to the Finder main menu bar, select "Go" and hold down the "option" key, until you see the Library in the drop down menu. Select it.
In the Library Finder window navigate to the "Application Support" folder, then "Aperture".
Drag the Aperture folder to the Finder Sidebar for easy access, then open Time Machine.
Go back in Time to the time you want to restore from, then restore the "Aperture Folder"  to your Desktop and copy the files you need to your Library.

  • Import / Export and TCP packets relay

    Hi All,
Any idea what relationship Export/ Import on a local box has on the TCP/IP packets ? I see tremendous amount of packets (42000 / sec) on a Windows 64 bit box while doing Import / Export. Its from an 8i to 10g so the Import / Export.

On a local server you don't need to use TCP/IP.
Generally speaking export is just a series of SELECTs. The nomal array interface applies, the size of the array is indicated by the buffer parameter.
One array is fragment by sqlnet in packages of SDU size, default 2048 bytes.
These packages are being fragmented by the network card, as the default MTU is 1500 bytes.

  • Import/Export and close LR

I'd like LR to close itself after an long import or export job.

I'm neutral on the feature request personally, but here's something you can do in the mean time:
Just set a timer to shut your computer down after its had time to do the import/export - it'll take Lightroom with it.
On Windows I use the "Simple Shutdown Timer" utility.
    Not sure about Mac.

    Dear Ashish Patel,
As far as I know, you can only expose a decision table as a web-service which is created inside a Reusable Ruleset. And RulesManager application only allows editing of Rulesets and Flow Rulesets but Reusable Ruleset is not editable in RulesManager. And hence, you will not be able to edit/export/import the decision table in the Reusable Ruleset.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • Advice on Media Files Trim before importing to FCPX (Workflow Question)

    Hi,
I often edit actioncam material, like GoPro, Contour etc..
They are usually turned on and then left on for 30-60m. Often multiple cameras and different angles. Perhaps some DSLR footage too. So I end up with several large files, usually H.264 as source material.
If I import them to FCPX straight away, I get massive ProRes Files and project sizes of several terrabytes. <- I want to avoid this for obvious reasons
So I need a solution of how to take the files, cut them into pieces, trim some, rotate some and chop them into smaller files. Once this is done, I can import them to FCPX events and get more nimble and workable files.
    The workflow I'd like is:
    Film -> Download Files -> Cut/Trim -> Import FCPX -> Edit .....
Anyone have a recommendation of tool or workflow to do this smoothly?

I had the same problem until recently. Now it's dead easy and very quick.
All you need is a hard drive or partition on a drive which you can dedicate to this purpose. Even your camera's card will suffice - what you need to do is rename the drive (or card, when it's mounted on your desktop) to VIDEO - or some name that FCP X will recognise as a camera (DCIM etc may work).
Move your newly shot files to the root of the drive (they must not be in folders).
Launch FCP X - and press Cmd+I (the letter i). The Camera Import window opens and your VIDEO drive should be listed. Select it and your clips will appear.
You can log in and out points where you want and import only the useful material. It will not be recompressed, just trimmed and copied over.
    Works brilliantly.
(If you re-named the camera card, you may need to change the name back so that the camera will read it).

  • FD32 userexit and workflow questions

    Hi All,
I need to send an IDOC once changes made in Tcode FD32. I tried to switch on the debugging mode and made some changes so that once I press the save button, i will get into debug mode and look for userexit available but I failed to get any...
Can someone please tell me is there any user exit available right after the user click on save button in FD32?
Here's my plan..if really can't get any user exit there, I might need to switch to workflow by triggering and send the IDOC..
I found the related business object is BUS1010, in swo1, I can see one event .created there. I'm never implement workflow before and need some advice on how to continue here...please advice..
    Thanks in advance.

  • Just some exporting and livetype questions

    First, livetype.
I know how to use FCE and LT above average. But I still don't know everything. When I render a LT movie and import it to FCE it doesn't keep the same quality. Some of the fonts and animations keep intact but others loose quality and appear very choppy. Why is this? Am I doing something wrong?
    Second, FCE exporting.
When I export using quicktime conversion, some videos take FOREVER to export. This morning, I had to export a five miute video, I had to leave to class after 20 minutes. I left it going. Again, am I doing something wrong?
(oh, how do I export to tape?)

    1. You shouldn't render the LT project; you should import the project file into FCE.
    2. The settings you use in QT conversion together with the content of the sequence will determine the output speed. There are many factors involved. No two sequences are the same.
    3. Print to video.

  • Infopath and Workflow Question

I have an InfoPath form that a group would like to submit to a library on SharePoint 2010. The form is based on Construction Projects. They want the workflow as follows. User submits the form, the form is then sent to an approver, then once it has been
approved the form is sent to a specific email address and cc to the Project Manager of the Project in question. My issue is that the Project Manager of the Project on the Form could be anyone from a list of 30 names. How can I configure the workflow to know
    who the Project PM is?
    dfrancis

Hi Chief, are you using SharePoint Designer for the workflow? There are two ways to tackle this- have the PM entered into the form in the first place, then have the workflow get the email address from that field's contents in active directory. Or, if the
PM can be deduced from the form submitter (IE: it's the submitter's boss), then have the workflow get that person's email from active directory.

  • Adding back custom export and workflow presets back into Premiere Pro CC 2014

I may have to delete preference files to stop PrPro CC 2014 from crashing when I try to start it [advice from fellow Adobe forum participants].
How do save my custom presets [H.264 protocols, workflows, etc] so I can add them back in [and how do I do that]?
    Yosemite/3.5GHz i7/32GB RAM/ nVidia with CUDA enabled.
PrPro works in safe mode, but I can't get it to open after a regular startup. I recently freed up about 200GB of hard drive space and ran ONYX to really clean up my computer. Now I'm having this issue, with a killer deadline in front of me [of course].
    Thanks in advance.

I tried to edit this post but couldn't...here's the corrected version [sorry]

  • Import/Export and Portlet Ids

    Hi everybody,
we face the following problem. We have developed a solution for a customer in Oracle Portal. This consists of many portlets. There is one portlet, used many times in the portal, we so call Text Portlet. Its role is to render some text retreived by a custom table. The text is defined in the edit mode. The relationship between the portlet instances and the text info is holded on our custom table where the fields are PortletId, lang and the appropriate text. When we import everything into the production portal the portlet Ids change and the relations are lost. Is there a way to keep our ids unchanged after import? Or maybe some kind of unique identifier to hold the relation on it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kiros

  • Export and Render question

I've got a number of sequences with a lot of things which need rendering in them, and they take a good bit of time to do so. Do I need to render those before I export the sequence (or use it in a nested sequence) for any reason? Isn't the export process pretty much a "render" into a single file?

Exporting will build the render files into the exported file. In most instances it's better to render first and to mixdown the audio before exporting.

  • Weird Bug / Export Settings / Workflow Question

I keep running into this issue and have been unable to find a solution for it. I'm exporting HD video sequences (1080i 60i preset) from premiere pro CS4 using Adobe Media Encoder. I want to create files that are nice high quality without being huge, since I have to send these off to clients on a vast array of different systems, both mac and pc, and they have to be delivered via web.
I found that the H.264 apple ipod video large preset in AME works very well as far as file size / quality. The problem is, for whatever reason, this codec does not seem to play properly on 99% of clients systems, the playback seems to jump from one frame to the next and back, its a very odd looking jitter type issue. And no, not everyone is on a PC, even folks on MACs here in the office have the same issue playing it in quicktime. I'm stumped as to what is causing that, but I assume its a codec / quicktime issue, maybe not though...
So, in an effort to curtail that, I tried exporting video from AME as quicktime and changing the quicktime codec to H.264. The problem with that route is the files are huge. They play stably, but I can't send a 2gb file over the web in any reasonable timeframe.
If anyone could help me out either by telling me how I'm screwing up my export settings, or if they have a setting that works better I'm all ears. This has gotten incredibly frustrating.

I use to have the same exact issue when sending files to my clients for review.
What I starded doing is exporting to windows avi and throwing the file in..... believe it or not! windows movie maker to make it smaller and email it.
The TV Station that I do work for can only accept 5mb size files via email and that's the only way they want it.
They don't want to deal with "YouSendIt" or anything else. Of course the files I send are only 30seconds long. TV ads. but that was my workaround.
They did not get the best quality delivered but it's pretty good for them to see the ad and approve it.
They said it plays clean that way and I haven't had any more complaints.
those are my 2 cents, hope it helps.
