Import/Export mailbox - what is included by default?

Hello! I think this is unclear in the documentation:
Will a new export request export the complete mailbox by default? Included contacts, calendar, online archive?
New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox Username -FilePath \\savelocation\username.pst
Kthxbai

Hi Kthxbai,
The cmdlet below can take all folders and data in each and export it into the specified PST file. Also note that things such as the dumpster now can and by default will be exported.
New-MailboxExportRequest –Mailbox HEW –FilePath \\Ex02\PSTFiles\HEW.pst

  • Importing - Exporting Tables, What is best to do with the following;

    This is purely down to my general interest, I can do both but just wondered which is best to do?
    Export a table / import table / drop table
    Export table (truncated)/ import table
    Any adverse effects?
    To Truncate or not Truncate?
    Any advice or comments gratefully received.

    Hi,
    If your table is going to be the same, you may go for the TRUNCATE approach.
    Pros: all blocks assigned to the segment/table are not released (DROP releases space)
    that will free the DB of that activity when loading data.
    Cons: importing data reorganizes data, usually defragmenting space allocated...therefore you may get some empty extents (that may be used later), this is not preciselly a minus if your table is going to grow: you'll have space preallocated.

    What's the difference in Apple Mail using "On My Mac" folders vs Export Mailbox?

    One (On My Mac) is a set of folders, the other is a way to export a mailbox for archiving or transfer to another machine.
    What do you want to do, these are not even similar.

  • Export Mailbox from Exchange 2010 and Import to Exchange 2007

    Hello,
    I exported mailbox (1GB in size) from Exchange 2010 to *.pst file; I need to import it into
    Exchange 2007 mailbox. Is it supported ?
    The operation completed successfully (no errors) but no items were imported; is it due to unsupported backward compatibility or some other issue ?
    Thank you,
    Luca
    Disclaimer: This posting is provided AS IS with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. Whenever you see a helpful reply, click on [Vote As Help] and click on [Mark As Answer] if a post answers your question.

    I also have the same issue. Exported mailboxes on Exchange 2010 SP3 latest updates using
    New-MailboxExportRequest and then tried to import into mailbox on Exchange 2007 SP3 with latest updates. The 32-bit client machine used for the import has Outlook 2010 SP1 (SP2 and later updates causes a different error). I used Outlook 2010 because the E2K10
    New-MailboxExportRequest documentation states that you have to use Outlook 2010 or later. The PST files created can be opened and imported via Outlook but not with the
    Import-Mailbox cmdlet (with no error as stated in this thread). Other PSTs, not created from E2K10 export do import just fine. I also ran ScanPST.exe against the exported PST and then ran the import again and it worked, everything got imported. Interestingly
    the test mailbox PST file I was using was 761 KB but after the ScanPST it was 1,257 KB - must be some difference in the PST format that the Import-Mailbox cmdlet can't deal with.
    Does anyone have any other solutions or
    workarounds to this. I've got over 900 mailboxes I need this for due to an
    acquisition? Has anyone tried using Outlook 2013 on the machine used for doing
    the Exchange 2007 imports or does Outlook 2013 also have the same issue as later versions of Outlook 2010 (Exchange Mailbox import failed with error code 2147221233)?

  • What license is required for import/export AcroForms and Submit button

    I want to know what kind of license do I need to programmatically interact with AcroForms and AcroFields for a asp.net web application.
    I use a third party software (Aspose) to import/export AcroField data value and also dynamically modify some of the fields.
    I also want to place a Submit button on the PDF so users can submit field data to a web server with free PDF readers.
    Have anyone done this before?

    Here are the steps I'm invisioning:
    1. The PDF form template is created with Acrobat Pro and Reader Rights is DISABLED.
    2. The user logins in to a web page and then clicks on a link to download the PDF template.
    3. Before the PDF is streamed to the client browser, the PDF template is modified with Aspose to fill in some personalized user data.
    4. User downloads a PDF with his/her data pre-filled.
    5. User saves and opens the PDF with PDF reader, fill in some more data and clicks on the Submit button on PDF.
    6. Submit button sends all the AcroFields that has data filled in back to a web server.
    7. Server processes the data accordingly.
    So, will a regular Acrobat Pro license be enough for this use?

    Hello,
           Details u needed.
    SUMMARY
    The Fixmapi.exe tool is included with Internet Explorer 5 & above to detect and aid in resolving conflicts with Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) files that may affect your ability to send and receive mail and faxes from other programs.
    FixMAPI ( What Exactly it does ?).....
    Makes a backup copy of the current copy of mapi32.dll on the client computer, and restores mapi32.dll with the MAPI stub library, mapistub.dll.
    Quick Info
    Exported by:
    mapistub.dll
    Called by:
    Client
    Implemented by:
    Windows
    DWORD STDAPICALLTYPE FixMAPI(void);
    Return Values
    If the function succeeds, the return value is a non-zero value.
    If the function fails, the return value is zero. To get extended error information, call the Microsoft Platform Software Development Kit (SDK) function, GetLastError.
    Remarks
    FixMAPI does not replace the current mapi32.dll file if the file is marked as read-only.
    FixMAPI does not replace the current mapi32.dll if Microsoft Exchange Server is installed on the computer.
    When FixMAPI makes a backup copy of the current copy of mapi32.dll on the computer, it assigns the backup copy a name different from "mapi32.dll". It then directs subsequent calls intended for that assembly to the backup copy

  • Import/Export Email

    Is there any way to import/export email from a user's account?

    What do you want to import/export from?
    I think you can do a dump of someone's mailbox using the imsbackup utility, but am not sure what format this gives you. Probably you can only import this into another iMS server.
    Apart from that, you could look at what tools your mail clients have for saving and importing messages. I think Outlook express has an archive utility that you could use. To import from Outlook to the server, you could use the iPlanet sync tool. This will synchronise in both directions between the iMS mail server and various clients. These include Outlook, Windows CE handhelds, palms, etc. Basically, if you set this up to synchronise with Outlook, then you can import/export using anything that will interface with Outlook.
    Of course you don't have to use Microshaft products. You could use any mail client to do this. Not sure about synching with other clients cos we've not done it.
    I'm not sure how you can get hold of this synching tool. There were various beta versions floating around about a year or so ago and I would have expected that they would have released a supported version by now. Then again.....

  • Export Mailbox to .PST

    Hello,
    I wish all contents(Send,Receive,..etc) older than '06/21/2014' from all mailboxes should be exported to pst.
    What to include additional to this cmdlet -
    New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox <alias>
    -FilePath "\\Server\ShareFolder\<alias>.pst"
    Please Guide.
    Few details-
    Name of Test mailbox - Demo
    Mailbox Created on 06/10/2014
    1) When I use the normal cmdlet,
    New-MailboxExportReuqest -Mailbox Demo -FilePath "\\Server's IP\ShareFolder\Demo.pst it generates a pst of
    1505 KB.
    2) When I use the cmdlet specifying today's date (For maximum output)
    New-MailboxExportReuqest -Mailbox Demo -ContentFilter {(Received -lt "07/23/2014")} -FilePath "\\Server's IP\ShareFolder\Demo.pst
    it generates a pst only of 265 KB. (It means something is wrong somewhere)
    3) Now the Strange thing is, the mailbox is created on 06/10/2014 (1.5 months old), when I use the cmdlet specifying the far previous date (3 months old)
    New-MailboxExportReuqest -Mailbox Demo -ContentFilter {(Received -lt "04/23/2014")} -FilePath "\\Server's IP\ShareFolder\Demo.pst
    it again generates a pst of 265 KB. (It means something is wrong somewhere again)
    Please Guide.
    Thanks, Divyaprakash Koli

    Hi,
    I tested in my lab, the result is the same with yours.
    I created a test mailbox, then I sent some messages to this mailbox and created some sub-folders under Inbox folder.
    Then I run the New-MailboxExportRequest cmdlet to export to .pst file with specifying the date, no items existed before this date.
    As a result, the size of this .pst file is 265KB which is the same with yours. I imported it to another new mailbox successfully, there were no items in this mailbox, but there were the same sub-folders under Inbox folder, the folder structure was the same.
    After that, I delete the sub-folders in the original mailbox, then exported to a .pst file, the size of this .pst file was still 265KB.
    Based on this test, it seems that the size of .pst file is a fixed value 265KB, if there are no items exported.

  • Export-Mailbox - DeleteContent not working

    Server: Exchange 2007 SP3 RU 10
    Client: Outlook 2010 SP1, OWA with IE 9
    ++++
    According to this (and other sources)...
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb266964(v=exchg.80).aspx
    I should be able to search for, and delete, messages using this command:
    Get-Mailbox -Database DB1 | Export-Mailbox -SubjectKeywords "Virus message" -DeleteContent
    "This example first gets all the mailboxes on database DB1, searches for items that contain the string "Virus message" in the subject, and deletes those items."
    +++++
    I only tried this because a colleague mentioned that he had tried and could not make it work. So I though I would investigate.
    So I had test user Alan Reid send seven emails to test user Aisha Bhari. The subject was respectively: Blue, Red, Yellow, North, South, West and East. The content was "Export-Mailbox test 1" then 2, 3, 4, etc.
    So at the start of the experiment, Aisha Bhari's Inbox looks like this:
    Thinking, at first, that I needed to have an export folder (in fact, if I just want to delete, that is not necessary) I executed the following command:
    export-mailbox [email protected] -TargetMailbox ExportMailbox -TargetFolder ForDeletion -SubjectKeywords
    "Red" -DeleteContent
    Then realizing that was not necessary, and that the processing of the Calendar and Contacts was delaying the experiment, I used this command:
    export-mailbox [email protected] -SubjectKeywords "Red" -ExcludeFolders "\Calendar","\Contacts" -DeleteContent
    I tried "Red" with and without quotes.
    I tried "Blue" and "North". I tried the -ContentKeywords switch with strings like "mailbox" and "test".
    The output that displays after the command is executed puzzles me. I read:
    StandardMessagesDeleted          : 0
    AssociatedMessagesDeleted        : 0
    DumpsterMessagesDeleted          : 0
    MoveType                         : DeleteOnly
    MoveStage                        : Completed
    StartTime                        : 12/26/2013 4:36:56 PM
    EndTime                          : 12/26/2013 4:37:28 PM
    StatusCode                       : 0
    StatusMessage                    : Messages have been deleted from the source mailbox.
    0 messages have been deleted and "Messages have been deleted from the source mailbox."
    If I look at the content of Aisha's mailbox however, the message "Red" is still present, observed in both Outlook and OWA, after logging off and back on again. And thus, obviously, closing and opening both Outlook and OWA. What I see is what you
    (still) see in the image posted above. That's it.
    Does anyone know why this is not working?
    +++++

    Hi David,
    From your description, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. You need to grant the account which perform the task the full mailbox access permission.
    2. Export-Mailbox only marks the items for delete. It doesn't actually delete them. So "-DeleteContent" only marks it for deletion. Your mailbox retention schedule will delete the actual emails.
    Hope it helps.
    If there are any problems, please feel free to let me know.

  • Import/export properties of multiple numeric limit steps

    Hello
    I have a question to the property loader and the import/export tool in TestStand 3.5.
    When I want to export the limits of a sequence with multiple numeric steps with the import/export tool, I press the Limits button to include the limits into the 'selected' field of the properties tab. But for the multiple numeric step the limits are included not for all indices but only once with an question mark instead of an index (Result.Measurement[?].Limits.Low, Result.Measurement[?].Limits.High, Result.Measurement[?].Limits.Comp).
    The property loader step acts the same way.
    What can I do ?
    Thanks
    Olli

    Hi Olli,
    For the multiple numeric limit test, you will need to individually specify which numeric limits you want to export. Lets suppose you have 3 sets of limits for your multiple numeric limit test. If you wanted to export the first set, you would use the syntax
    Step.Result.Measurement[0].Limits.Low
    Step.Result.Measurement[0].Limits.High
    You will need to do this for each set of limits you have in your array. Simply replace the "?" with the index of the element in the array.
    Hope this helps!

    I had this similar problem - 32-bit SQL Server 2005 trying to import tables from Access 2000 .mdb file, same error:

    I know you said you clicked "Advanced..." and Test Connection when you chose your Access database - but that is what resolved the error for me.  I chose my .mdb file, username is admin, password is blank, but if I don't click the Advanced button and test the connection before continuing on, the import fails with above error message.  Go figure, since the username/blank password is correct.
    FWIW, sorry if that doesn't help you though.

  • Improving Oracle9i DB performance using IMPORT/EXPORT

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing wrong performance on Oracle9.2.0.6 DB for production system.
    I have one schema and two tablespaces: the first one for data (18 datafiles sized each 1GB), and the second one for indexes (15 datafiles sized each 1GB).
    I tryed to tune the db using statpack and noticed "Waits due to Row being locked by an active Transaction".i couldn't do very much for solving this issue.
    So, I'm wandering if using import/export utility against database would be a solution to obtain better performance. I can follow two methods for I/E:
    FIRST METHOD:
    1. Take a good export (with COMPRESS=n).
    2. drop the tablesapces.
    3. recreate the same tablespaces (data and index).
    4. make data as default and revoke RESOURCE role from user.
    5. grant quota unlimited on DATA TABLESPACE and INDEX tablespace to the user.
    6. Just import (single import would do). imp user/pass fromuser=x touser=y indexes=y constraints=y.
    Now since both data/index tablespaces already exist, the indexes will be created in their intended tablespaces.
    SECOND METHOD
    Instead of Imp or exp I can use move tablespace cmd to avoid fragmenation.
    1.create new tbs.
    2.move all objects to new tbs.
    - rebuild all indexes to new tbs.
    3.drop old tbs.
    4.rename new tbs name to old tbs names.
    Please, could you suggest If I'm following the right way to achieve better performance?
    Thanks in advance.
    Claudia

    "Waits due to Row being locked by an active Transaction" is an indicator that you have a blocking problem, not fragmentation. Do you have long transactions? In Oracle, only writers block writers so it appears you have multiple sessions trying to modify the same row(s).
    And, on the import/export - What type of disk is attached to the system? If it is a SAN it is likely that you already have a decent degree of data distribution between data and indexes.

  • Import/Export topology

    Hi to all. I have to export a full topology from a db into another db where there is not a topology. I organized spatial data using a topology geometry layer hierarchy. Feature tables make part of a schema called "DBTOPO". How can I recreate metadata in the target db to reproduce the exact configuration of the source db? What are the steps to do to export topology? Another question: is the migration tool from sdo to topology available? Thanks.
    Ivan

    Hi,
    Here are the steps (these are documented in the user guide, but some steps are missing from there).
    Before you export:
    create a table (say topo_metadata) and insert into
    it all the entries from the user_sdo_topo_metadata
    corresponding to your topology.
    Export all the tables, including the feature layer tables,
    edge,node,face,relation tables and the topo_metadata table created above.
    On the import side:
    (i) First create a topology with the same name as the one
    on the source database.
    (ii) Import the dmp file with these imp options:
    ignore=Y INDEXES=N full=Y
    (iii) Fix the topology_id in the feature tables.
    It may happen that, the topology_id created in the target
    DB may be different from the topology_id in the source DB.
    So you need to fix the feature tables if this is the case.
    Here is sample PL/SQL code to do it:
    You need to do this for each feature layer in your topology (here in this example there are two layers).
    declare
    tid NUMBER := NULL;
    begin
    select distinct topology_id into tid from user_sdo_topo_info
    where topology='CENSUS';
    if (tid is not null AND tid != 1) then
    update census_area_features a set a.feature.topology_id = tid;
    update census_line_features l set l.feature.topology_id = tid;
    commit;
    end if;
    end;
    (iv) Add the feature layers to the topology, in the right order. If you look at the entries in the topo_metadata table you imported, it would tell you which order the layers are added to topology.
    Add the layer with the layer_id = 1 first, etc.
    (v) Initialize metadata (sdo_topo.initialize_metadata procedure).
    (vi) One last step to reset the feature sequence generators:
    Here is the PL/SQL code to do it (sample with two feature layers):
    declare
    tglid NUMBER := NULL;
    maxseq NUMBER := NULL;
    stmt VARCHAR2(200);
    begin
    select tg_layer_id into tglid from user_sdo_topo_info
    where table_name='CENSUS_AREA_FEATURES' and topology='CENSUS';
    select max(a.feature.tg_id) into maxseq from census_area_features a;
    stmt := ' drop sequence census_tg_s'||to_char(tglid)||' ';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE stmt;
    stmt := ' create sequence census_tg_s'||to_char(tglid)||' minvalue '||
    to_char(maxseq+1)||' nocache ';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE stmt;
    select tg_layer_id into tglid from user_sdo_topo_info
    where table_name='CENSUS_LINE_FEATURES' and topology='CENSUS' ;
    select max(b.feature.tg_id) into maxseq from census_line_features b ;
    stmt := ' drop sequence census_tg_s'||to_char(tglid)||' ';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE stmt;
    stmt := ' create sequence census_tg_s'||to_char(tglid)||' minvalue '||
    to_char(maxseq+1)||' nocache ';
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE stmt;
    end;
    Then you are done.
    It is lengthy, so this is automated in the next release.
