Import/Export Portal Content between EP6 6.20 and 6.40

Hi there,
We are about to setup a second portal in Europe on 6.40, while the US portal will still be a EP6 SP2 on 6.20 for some time.
I was wondering about the possibilities to share portal content between those 2 installations, especially iViews and pages (not using remote iViews). As long as the name of the related PAR files (code link) are the same, this should work.
On the other hand, iViews and pages will have a different set of parameters like "Allow Client-Side Caching" or "Use API of Tray" based on different portal versions. What will happend when importing/exporting these objects from 6.20 to 6.40 or the other way around?
Thanks,
Florian

Ivo, thank you for your reply.
But I think mapping ports doesn't solve our problem.
WAS 6.20:
Just the context path will be send in the header field 'location' to the browser (located in the internet).
In case of a redirect the browser mixes the server name of the sender (the reverse proxy) and the context path and sends the request to the reverse proxy. The reverse proxy forwards the request to the WAS 6.20 intranet server.
WAS 6.40:
The header field 'location' contains now the whole URL (with the server name of the WAS 6.40 system, which is only accessible from our intranet).
In case of a redirect the browser takes the content of the header field 'location' and sends the request to the not accessible WAS 6.40 intranet server. Of course that doesn't work.
So it it depends on the content of the header field 'location'.
What can we do in WAS 6.40, so that the header field 'location' contains only the context path as it has done in WAS 6.20?

Uwe

  • Anyone has tried export Portal from 9.0.4 version and import into 10.1.2

    Anyone has tried doing that?
I failed in checking of version compatibility when doing import.
But I think 10.1.2 is higher version, why cannot accept data from 9.0.4?
    Rgds,
    Joe

We were not even successful doing an import with in 9.0.4 versions. When we tried importing from 9.0.4.99 to 9.0.4.120 (?), it failed the version compatibility check. Is there any way to verify what versions can be successfully imported and then bypass the version check?

  • Import-Export of track add some old projects and files.

We want to copy one NWDI track to new one.
When we Forward one track to to created new one, and open projects in Development Studio,
many old projects and files appeared, thatis not visible if to open old track in Studio.
So question is - how to export one track so it would appear in studio same way, but not "open all old existed" way?
As well very interested reason why so happens ?
    thanks

    Hi Vladimir,
I am not sure I fully understand your question, but if you'd like to copy a track to an other one, then I can suggest you to go for replication. This way you can keep the whole version history as well.
Replicating a Track into a Different DTR Repository (despite the title of this article I was confirmed by the development support that you can also use this procedure to replicate into the same DTR, not only into a different one)

  • How do we transfer content between Portals ?

    Hi all ,
How do we transfer content between Portals . In SAP R3 we transfer content using transport request. can any one explain how do we transfer content between poptals (Development, quality and porduction systems)
    Thanks
    Rajeev.

    Hi,
You will use Portal Transport to transport content between your DEV-QA-PROD system.
You will have to go to system administraton-->transport tab.
Create a transport package and add the portal content objects you wish to transport.
and download that as an EPA file and upload it to the next portal.

  • Portal Content Deployment - History

    Hello Gurus
Is there is a way to figure out the list of all the portal contents deployed in the portal. ( including date and time).
On the ABAP stack we have import history and we can check list of transports, in same way how can see the list of portal contents deplyed to PORTALS.
    Appreciate your help.
    Regards
    Rrs

    Ratan,
Interesting topic - it would depend on how your group has been exporting content (assuming that you are talking about Portal Content and not Java Development).  By default, the export tool will overwrite the previous export file if you don't have a procedure in place to make new files for each export.  Other then that, I don't think that there is a log of activity or content.  For this I nornally require my content admins for Portals to create a unique folder for each project, a sub-foler for each section, and a single file for each export - adding a revision number to the end of each file as they export them.
A long explination for - the system doesn't do it but you can setup something so you can manage it yourself.
My method above helps to keep things in order and you can go look back at the export files and what was in them for this purpose.  I also change the export/import directory for the Dev to QA Portal so Basis doesn't need to baby-sit the developers moving content between those two systems and so Developers don't need access to the file system. (Dev export directory is on an NFS between Dev and QA - QA  import points to the NFS Dev export folder - so you can just import without doing anything).  Somewhat like TMS - for prod I still have an NFS but Basis moves the files to the right import directory.
Hope that helps somewhat to get you going.  May seem like overkill but when you get 5-10 portal developers moving quickly, it helps to keep it all in synch with the ECC transports!!

  • Migration of portal content from EP 6.0 SP 15 to NW 2004s Portal

    Hi,
Our requirement here is to migrate Portal content from EP version 6.0 SP15 to the latest Netweaver portla (NW2004s). Expecting helpful suggestions from SAP EP gurus!!!
All helpful answers will be rewarded. Gurus, please help!!!
    Cheers,
    L Buegg.

    Leena,
These are the steps in migrating the portal content from the EP 6 SP15 to the Netweaver Portal (EP 7.0 or the NW 2004s Portal) in simple:
    1. Go to <b>System Administration -> Transport -> Portal Content</b>. Right click on the folder, you wish to transport. Select <b>New -> Transport Package</b> .
    2. Fill all the details (like name of the transport package, id etc) and then add the objects(iViews, Pages etc) you wish to transport to the newly created transport package by right clicking on the objects.
    3. Once the objects are all added, click on Export in the object editor of the Transport package and the export happens immediately.
    4. Navigate to Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Export of the EP 6 SP 15 Portal Server. You will see the epa file created during this export process.
    5. Copy this epa file and place it in Drive\usr\SAP\SID_Instance\Sys\global\pcd\Import folder structure of the NW 2004s Portal Server. Go to <b>System Administration -> Transport -> Import</b> and do the import as you would import any business package.
This are the steps to export and import the portal content from one portal server to another portal server.
    Hope this helps!!!

  • Portal content for STVN 2.1

    Hello!
We have recently intalled Nakisa 2.1 on NW CE 7.1.
Now we should import Portal Content in our Portal - accortding to Java Deployment Guide EPA file named com.nakisa.nakisa_portal_contents.epa is expected to be in folder PortalContent under installation folders,
but surprizingly it isn't ther! Moreover, there is no such file anywhere on the server!
We used Installation CD sent to us by SAP, no. 5103811.
So where shoul I get these contents from?
    Any suggestion?
    Thank you in advance!
    Yelena

You are right, the "com.nakisa.nakisa_portal_contents.epa" content should be in
    /usr/sap/[system_name]/J00/j2ee/cluster/apps/Nakisa/SuccessionPlanning/PortalContent
folder once you've compeleted the installation.
I would suggest raising this on OSS since that is your official support channel.
The portal content offers some advantages (how it handles systems when moving portal content between environments - DEV, QA, PRD - for example) over just using URL iViews.

  • Unable to migrate portal content :-(

I want to move 2 iViews and a Authorization role from ABC System to XYZ System.
I found out that there seem to be 2 basic ways, I do not know enough about.
I went to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the source System ABC -> System administration -> Transport packages -> Export. I do a right-click on the Folder "etcppp" create a new package, save it and download it to my personal computer.
In the second step I go to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the target system ABC -> System administration -> Transport packages -> Import. I import it and find the package in the content-tree, but it does not unpack Where is my mistake ?
So I startet my second try:
I went to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the source System ABC -> System administration -> content & actions -> Export and created a nice XML File. Up to now I do not understand why there seem to be 2 ways and 2 different file formats but I thought to give it a try. I downloaded the XML without any errors.
In the second step I go to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal of the target system ABC -> System administration -> content & actions BUT it simply does not open! I startet the engine and the system new, but the branch stays hidden. What can I do ?
Please let me also know if there are any other possibilities to transport Portal Content.
Thanks in advance and Best Regards

  • Automating the import / export process in 9.0.2

In Portal 3.0.9.x the export and import were entirely command-line driven tools, so it was possible to automate the process to a certain degree.
In 9.0.2 the import/export process is a combination of scripts and manual actions through the Portal UI to import and export the transport sets.
Is there any way in 9.0.2 to automate this process ?

You make me feel better. I am having THE problem. Logs say it was all a success but NOTHING is imported. I tried with portal 9.0.2.2.22 on Win2000 and now I'll try it on 9.0.2.2.14A on Sun. What did you use?

  • SAP PORTAL CONTENT

    hi, i 've installed CE7.1 EHP1 with SP5
I also deployed  SAP Talent Visualization by Nakisa 2.1
The Deployment was succesfull but when i try to integrate it with the embebed portal of the Ce 7.1 y cant see the *.epa file
i cant also find the folder PortalContent under Nakisa.
My question is , is it necesary to run this to have the Business Package for Talent Management Specialist deployed in the portal or Nakisa is independent ?
its really strange coz i cant even see the roles of nakisa .
I do not really know what else to do
    thanks in advance

    Hi Horacio,
That is correct. Usually the applicaiton will be run through the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal, with the CE just acting as a runtime environment (like Microsoft .NET for the .NET version).
You need to import the Portal content if you want to use the roles. Once the application is working from the Portal then you need to go into the Administrator Console, go to the Security section and click on Authenticaiton Settings. Here select Portal Single Sign-on with Logon Tickets, click next twice and enter your SAP server (FQDN or IP address), system number and client number, select Finish and select Submit. Now publish and you should have single sign-on. If this doesn't work some additional configuration may be required. There is a Wiki's in the Nakisa Wiki section that contain information on this configuration:
    I hope that helps!

  • Generate Portal Content

    Hello,
i use Netweaver2004s with Portal Content. I tried to install a complete portal application from a partner company. We want to use a R/3 System to get the data and show it in the portal. I already imported the ".sca" and ".sar" files. I also imported the Portal Content (epa-Files) and created the jco-destinations.
Now i have to create the portal system, referenced by a system-alias. I did it at:
    System administration/System configuration/System landscape
    Portal-Content/New/System (from template)
For wich is that and for what template should i choose?
    Templates:
         BI - JDBC-System
          BI - ODBO-kompatibles OLAP-System
          BI - SAP Query System
          BI - XMLA-kompatibles OLAP-System
          Dedizierter Anwendungsserver für SAP-System
          EP-5.0-System
          HTTP-System
          JDBC-System
          KM-Lotus-System
          KM-WebDAV-System
          KM-Windows-System
    Thanks

    Hi Ronald,
I have never come across this error and was not able to find anything relevant on searching for it on SDN either.
In fact I don't see any attribute named user assignment type for this particular system object in my portal.
    Please see this check points:
    1) Are you sure you selected SAP system using dedicated application server as system template?
    2) Please check in your portal, do you see any such attribute (user assignment type) when you select Object in the Display drop down on the top, and Show All in the Property Category drop down underneath.
    3) If above 2 points don't help, then try this.
I see Dedizierter Anwendungsserver für SAP-System as a system type in your first post above. I guess this means SAP system using dedicated application server in English. Try selecting this system.
    Bye

  • Portal Content in Hindi ???

    Hi All,
Please let me know if anyone has got a chance to display portal content in HINDI.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sreeram

    Hi,
I think we can display in webdynpro using internationalization.  But portal will not automatically recognize the hindi script. You have to manually do that.
Check in SDN about internationalization in webdynpro.

  • SAPUI5 Application doesn't display in Portal Content Area

    Hallo Guys
We are developing a SAPUI5 application that needs to be displayed inside the portal.
The problem is that the SAPUI5 app doesn't display in in the content area, no erors, just a blank page, you have to set the iview to open in a seperate headerless window, then it works. But it needs to work in the content area.
Our findings: a possible cause is that the IE mode when inside the Portal content area is IE5 Quirks, and when it displays in a new window, the mode changes to a more recent and acceptable mode for SAPUI5, IE9.
Is there any solution to this? We get the same result with both URL iView and using the SAPUI5 iView in content provided by SAP. We are on NW 7.4
    Regards
    Antonette

    Hi Antonette,
As Lawrence explained the reason is indeed that quirks and standards mode can't run together on the same page (not only in portal but it's a limitation by MS).
Since your framework page is in IE5 quirks mode the UI5 application doesn't run in the content area, you can run it by selecting in the iView properties "Launch in a new headerless window (strandards)", that will open the UI5 application in a new window and will work.
If you wish to run UI5 applications in the content area you can get latest SP of 7.4 and there you will have a new framework page: standards AFP, basically an AFP framework page that works in standards mode.
In that framework page you can run UI5 applications in the content area, however trying to run old applications (HTMLB, not WD) may fail, for WD you have a paramater you need to pass called sap-ie, passing it with the value of "Edge" will make sure WD applications run in standards mode as well.
When running the AFP in standards mode you will need to open your HTMLB and other old applications in a new headerless window or new window so you can see the content.
    Hope this helped,
    BR,
    Saar
