Import / Export TNS error

Hello, I am getting this pesting TNS error when running IMP and EXP from the server. I can successfully run sqplus on the server and across the net.
IMP 00058 - Oracle error 12560
ORA 12560 - TNS: Protocol Adapter Error
What gives?

Hi Ken, thanks for the reply. These look like Unix vars. Are they? I am running it under NT in a DOS shell. Do these exist elsewhere?
Incidently, I am in the process of installing OMS and getting a simliar error when creating the Repository.
ORA 12571 TNS Packet Writer Error.

Import/Export xls Error

Hi,
I'm facing a problem with import/export xls files.
Once I selected the file the system doesn't return any response even if the file has very small size (about 70 KB).
It happens both from workbench and web.
Furthermore I can't to export something to Excel (I.e. the categories)
Any suggestion about it?

Import XLS:
Make sure the ups* range in your XLS workbook is defined to include all rows you want to import, including the two header rows.
Please also be aware that XLS Import only adds records and does not update/overwrite what's already in there. If you want to change mappings/periods etc., you need to delete these records first and then add them again.
Export to XLS:
Your settings for export sound ok. Maybe there's an issue with the MIME Types on the web server - but I'm not too familiar with that, maybe someone else has an idea on this.
If you export to XLS a file should be created in Outbox\Excel (not during import, just want to make sure I'm clear on this).

Import Export Utility Error

Hi,
I am getting the following error when I am trying to export the provisioning into a csv file.
Export : Attempting to load provisioning info for application Sample in project Essbase:<Server-name>:1
Export : Attempting to retreive app id from HSS for Sample
Export : Retreived app id from HSS for Sample as <domain>_1.ESBAPP:Sample_<Server-name>
Export : Attempting to load provisioning data for app id <domain>_1.ESBAPP:Sample_<Server-name>
Export : Failed to load provisioning data for app id <domain>_1.ESBAPP:Sample_<Server-name>
Export : Root cause : 30:6519:Target application does not exist.
Export : Silently ignoring the last error
I am getting the same error for all the Essbase apps. But in the same run I am getting the provisioning details for Foundation & Business Rules projects, not for Essbase apps.
I can see the apps in Shared services.
I tried restarting Shared services & Essbase server. No luck.
Please let me know if anyone has encountered this situation and has a solution for it.

You will need to provide more information, command line example you are using, information in properties file.

while doing export i am getting below error

May you don't have sufficient privileges on the destination path of dump file. To isolate problems with binary versions try generate dump file at null device.
exp scot/tiger file=/dev/null tables=emp
If the above command works you need check your os privileges at destination path.

I have attempted to use the Desktop Manager to transfer an ascii file to MemoPad. I got an error message as follows: "Reading from ASCII Importer/Exporter MemePad - Error encountered - Error Code -0x80040057. Check documentation"

Use notepad instead. To open notepad :
on windows, go to startup menu
select "Run...".
a small window appears. type :
notepad
then enter
there will be a window with a light blue notepad in the top left corner.
type the following text :
this is a test
then save the file with the name :
text.txt
then try and transfer and read the file.

Getting an error while importing/exporting the universe from my BO Designer

Hi,
   I am facing a issue while importing/exporting the universe from my BO Designer to the Server.The error is mentioned below.
   'File Repository Server Input is down'
   Once I click the OK button on this error message, it displays the message
   'Could not import the Universe'.
I tried the check the status of the File Repository Server (Ouput and Input) and also the of the Root Directory on the Physical Server and also my machine.They all have read-write access.
Installed Version of the Universe Designer Client: Business Object XI Release 2 SP3
Installed Version of the BO Enterprise Server: Business Object XI Release 2 SP2

   The step you have mentioned may not be applicable to my issue as one of my colleagues can import/export the universe from the same server
The second thing is that a DB2 Client v9 is installed on both mine and my colleagues system.The Designer software can recognise the DB2 drivers on his system but it cannot recognise the same drivers on my system.I even checked the versions of the BO software installed on his and my system and they are same.
The only difference is that his machine is a Windows XP Machine and mine is a Network Desktop.
Will any of the above two things will affect the operation of the BO Designer.

Error in import/export of functions - for the apex team

After exporting functions, the import gives an error.
Reason :
the export generates a script with

importing this script gives an error because only the first function is imported. or the functions seems to be togheter one function

Leo - I logged into your workspace and exported the functions. The generated script looks perfectly good. I then uploaded that file into my own workspace and ran the script. The functions were all created as separate functions.
There must be something happening at your end causing newline characters in the file to be lost or something. Or maybe I didn't follow exactly the steps you did.
BTW, when you mentioned the "\" character in your original post, I assumed you meant the "/" character.

iam logged in 9i console standalone pc not connected any other pc.
unable to import or export or load any database
because the error shows that
only on OMS mode is possible

I have no idea what you are asking or in what environment you are work.
Lets start with the need for a version number ... 9i is not a version ... it is a marketing label. Do you mean 9.0.? or 9.2.0.1 or 9.2.0.8 no one knows.
Second I have no idea what a you intend to convey with the statement "console standalone pc."
Third "unable" means what? That the pc crashed and burned and is a smoldering cinder or you received some error message you thought too unimportant to post? Again ... you've given us no useful information.
Finally what do you mean by OMS? Is this OMS as in the Java application running as part of the Grid Control or something else?
Finally what are you trying to import? How? A clear explanation is required.
If someone reading what you post can not understand or duplicate what you did because of lack of information you will not receive any help.

Import and Export MDL error with OWB Release 2

Getting the following error when importing and exporting MDL - any assist would be appreciated - never had this issue with previous releases - error as follows:
Error occurred exporting metadata to file "C:\TEMP\MY_PROJECT-20061208_1058.mdl".
java.lang.Exception: CNV0002-0038(ERROR): Cannot write to file ./../../reposasst/converter.properties. Please make sure that write privileges are enabled or that disk is not full.

I got the solution. OWB writes some temporary xml files before importing/exporting mdl and these files are stored in OWB home directory. The problem is write privileges on the OWB Home directory. I am not local admin of my system. Admin installed the OWB client on my system through his userid. Now if i try to create a directory or file in OWB home directory it thorws an error "Access Denied". I got the Admin rights on my local system for my userid and now OWB is working fine.

MAX gives useful information for debugging. TestStand version, operation system, cpu, memory….
I am not sure that I have “TestStand Version Selector” since only one version of TestStand is installed.( NI TestStand 4.5.1).
Are you using the PropertyLoader? My intention is to use the PropertyLoader. But after I click on "Import/Export Properties…" from the dropdown menu, TastStand return the error.

According to this message, it can be caused by that there is not enough memory available or the buffer size is too small. To resolve this issue, I recommend you perform the following steps.

Application import/export failing, hopefully a simple one though

hi all,
i'm very new to oracle and am trying to get going with xe. i'm working between work and home and want to be able to transport wherever i'm at to work/home - so i thought the application import/export function would be the best way? first of all, is it?
if so - i keep getting the
failed to parse SQL query:
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
error
i'm running the same versions of oracle, on the same platforms (Application Express 2.1.0.00.39, winXPpro all service packed up). both my users have dba roles and the apps work fine on the machines i created them on. the import and install processes claim to be successful and the error only comes up when i try to log in to the application. any ideas?
btw - the apps are just simple tests, dependences etc with a couple rows in each table]
any help be much appreciated even if its "go read this!" as i've googled away & got not much....

Your problem is likely that in your office you do not have the tables required by your program. The export does not include your tables. You have to create them yourselves

How to import/export in Pl/SQL ?

I want to write a procedure in PL/SQL which will be copying one user's schema to another.
I have Oracle 9i on Windows 2000.
My first idea was to use IMP EXP commands, but i need to execute this commands from PL/SQL procedure. How can I do this, except from writing Java procedure using Runtime class - I've done it, it works, but sometimes occure an critical error in Oracle Kernel, and I'm sure that Java code is ok.
Or maybe there is much easier way to solve such a problem (PL/SQL interface for import/export or something)?

No, imp/exp are standalone utilities with no PL/SQL API. Java would be the way to do it.
