Import f4v-movie changes dimensions..?
Hi,
I'm a CS4 Premiere Pro user. I recently used it to make a movie from animated images (so, no video footage was involved). This movie I exported and rendered as an f4v-file: 'same as source flash 9.0 .r115 and higher' with an audio bitrate of 320 and a video bitrate van 32 (both target and
max. bitrate). Looks good.
It was then imported into a new PP-project, using the exact same PP-Project - and sequence settings as were used to create the first movie. (Again, this project was an animation project and no video footage was used). As soon as the f4v-movie was imported and place in the timeline, it became clear that the dimensions of it were no longer the same; it had decreased in size. This (obviously) did not change when the project was completed and was exported and rendered to an f4v-file (again the same settings).
I have no idea why an f4v-movie decreases in size when imported into a new project. And I have no idea what to do to avoid this. Could anyone help me out?
Cheers,
M.T.Pilot
@Jim - that is not acceptable
But seriously, it should be possible to load an f4v into a project with exactly the same settings as the project with which the f4v is made without gettng these strange dimension-troubles, right?
Stan, you were suggesting we were not using matching f4v codecs... How and were could I check that?
Also: when uploading the project file (and exchanging the JPGs by DVD), isn't there the problem that both colaborators need to have their folders set up/arranged in exactly the same way? Meaning, if the JPGs on my computer are on a HD called F: and the HD used by the other is called C:, then there's already the problem of Premiere Pro not finding the JPGs which is referred to in the project-file, right?

Trying to import a .mov file made with gotomeeting - no problems in past doing this. After 3 attempts recording the hour long video and trying to upload it to iMovie, it says No importable files -None of the selected files or folders can be imported. Change the selection and try again. What could the reason be?
After much research and troubleshooting, GoToMeeting replied with the final answer: We do not support the uploading of recordings to editing software. If you are having issues uploading a recording, unfortunately, we do not have tools or steps to resolve this. It is not a supported feature. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
The no longer plan to support editing of recordings made with their software. So, we are planning to find a new meeting provider. -
How to import 150 .mov (quicktime) clips into iMovie '11?
Hello,
Newbie to iMovie and having some trouble. My wedding videographer took off with my wedding footage (and the footage of 100 other couples.) Through the police and some of my own detective work, I was able to seize my wedding footage and have it on an external hard drive. I have already spent thousands of dollars trying to recoup my footage and now that I finally have it, I don't have the extra money to have it made into an actual movie/dvd.
All of the more than 150 clips are in .mov format and I am unable to import them into iMovie that way. Any ideas on how to convert that many HD clips into a file that iMovie will recognize without losing video quality & sound?
For tech info:
iMac 10.8.3
iMovie '11
Clip Info:
Dimensions: 1920x1080
Codecs: H.264, Linear PCM
Color Profile: 1-1-6
Audio Channels: 2
Thanks for your help! This community is a great amazing resource and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to offer suggestions.
KatieI did it! I realized after 2 hours of it not working, that I was doing it 1 step wrong. I was trying to import the actual file with all the clips, rather than just the clips themselves... Silly error, and the import of .mov files into iMovie was seemelss.. Quality is great and didn't take long. Thanks again.

Help! camera movements changing b/w keyframes
Please help! I'm making a kinetic type video and the camera movements change in between the keyframes I set up. For example; if I want the camera to just shift to the right, I copy the frame position, and then change the X axis. When I switch between the two frames everything is right, except the frames that AE makes up in between is also changing the Y axis... but the Y is the same on each keyframe. I've tried looking everywhere for help, everywhere in the program, tried re-doing it mutiple times, restarting AE, ect and I cant figure it out... Please help!
You have a "boomrang" effect, and this can be corrected easily. Select your keyframes, right click and go to "Keyframe Interpolation" and select "linear".
In the preferences menu (edit > preferences > general) you can check the preference "default interpretation to linear" wich is unchecked by default.
Also, one of the neat new feature of AE CS4 is the ability to separate dimensions. It's really time saving when animating cameras or complicated x,y,z mouvement. For that, select your position property, right clic and select "separate dimension". Now you will be able to animate the x,y,z property independantly. -
Issue with member move, change or delete from Planning web application
Hi
We need to make some basic editing (move, change or delete) of level 0 members of the cost center dimension from Planning web application instead of from essbase database outline. But everytime, we tried from the web Admininstration/Dimension drill down and did a Cut or Delete of a base member, the screen either becomes blank or hangs. And we would have to stop and restart the Planning web application server to bring it back.
Is this a bug or is there something we missed? We are using Planning 4.0.1 and essbase 7.1.1. Any advice on workaround is greatly appreciated. Thanks.Hi,
Have you tried running the planning server in the foreground from the start menu and check the output to see if there are any issues.
Also it might be worth trying to increase the java heap size, maybe you have a complex hierarchy and this is causing the heap size to max out.
Have you tried using another method to make changes to the hierarchy such as HAL ?

Can't import mp4/mov files into iMovie
I tried to create a new project by importing a .mp4 file from my account on Youtube. It copied the file to the event but didn't create a thumbnail. I did some research and I tried:
-Quitting imovie, changing the name of the event folder, then restarting imovie.
-Importing the .mp4 to a different event folder. Quitting/restarting.
At this point, the thumbnail for the newly imported movie appeared but the other videos that were previously (and successfully) thumbnailed in that event disappeared. I quit/restarted iMovie and all the thumbnails in that event were missing.
Here's what I've tried since then:
-Converting the .mp4 in Handbrake to .mp4 and then importing again. No luck.
-TRYING to convert the .mp4 to .mov in mpeg streamclip. I get an "Audio Decoding Error" when I attempt.
-Converting the .mp4 to .mov while disabling the sound in mpeg streamclip. IT WORKS and iMovie is able to import AND thumbnail.
So it'd appear that there's something wrong with the audio in the .mp4 file. Tried other .mp4 files and none of them were able to be converted or imported. Tried extracting the audio from the .mp4 file via MPEG streamclip and there's the same "Audio Decoding Error." The audio on the .mp4 file is AAC.
OK... It'd appear that I'd need to just import the .mov (no sound) along with the audio from the clip (I've used AudioHijack for that) to edit both in iMovie. The problem is that when I try to export it in iMovie I receive error codes.
This just all seems way, way more complicated that it needs to be. Does anyone have any suggestions on something I haven't tried yet or perhaps some video editing software (non FCE) worth looking into?
ThanksI was currently having the same issue trying to import into imovie. I have EyeTV Hybrid and when exporting a movie it asks you to select format in which to export it in. I selected m-peg4 and when I tried to import into imovie it was grayed in the finder, so what I did was return to the export feature in EyeTV and exported again under a different format - for imovie. It's exporting as we speak and I feel this will allow me to import properly now. Hope this helps.

when importing files into fcpx from go pro hero2, some are importing as .mov and some as .mp4. when making a multi cam clip it will only add one type, if you try and add the other it says camera clip cannot be processed. need to figure out why it randomly imports differently, or how to add different file tyoes to multi cam.
here is one that is imported and stays .mp4. the specs are same as original file before import.
here is one that has changed somehow during import. specs on original file are same as above, but once it is imported it changes to this in event folder, and others randomly keep the above specs. -
Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 problems importing 12fps movies
I open an Image Sequence in QuickTime Pro 7 and save it as a movie at 12 fps.
I import that movie into Final Cut Pro 7.0.3 in a sequence with timebase of 24fps.
Problem : the first frame of the movie appears only on 1 frame instead of 2, and the last frame appears on 3 frames instead of 2.
Anyone else seeing this problem?
My work around is to make a 1 frame Freeze Frame of the first frame and add it at the head of the movie and then delete the third copy of the final frame. It's a tiresome work around though because I'm making animated films and have hundreds of these clips to bring in to Final Cut.Sharon, very sorry, I apparently have mislead you. Still sequences I do in Motion. There may be other ways of grabbing still sequences. The exported movie relies on frame rate of the composition.
After Effects does it, too.
after effects help entry: Change the frame rate of a sequence
When you import a sequence of still images, it assumes the frame rate specified by the Sequence Footage preference in the Import category. The default rate is 30 frames per second (fps). You can change the frame rate after importing by reinterpreting the footage item:
Select the sequence in the Project panel, choose File > Interpret Footage > Main, and then enter a new value for Assume This Frame Rate. -
When i import H264 .mov files the audio slows down. MAC
I have a mac, running Mavericks OSX and i'm using Premiere CC.
When I import a .mov file with h264 encoding the audio plays back very slowly.
I know that Premiere can't handle h264 in an avi wrapper or so it has been said in old forums, but these are .mov files. How has this been an issue since CS 3 and it hasn't been fixed?
I would expect an import setting could be changed to fix this but i can't seem to find any import settings.
other than transcode everything again, is there an easy fix for this?

Importing a movie into Captivate
I need to import a movie into Captivate. I've tried .avi and .swf....flv works great, but the finished .swf file will be placed into an LMS shell, so I won't be able to reference the external .flv file.
The .avi file, when published in Captivate to a .swf, is choppy and the audio is off. I tried changing the frame rate, but it didn't help.
When I converted the .avi to a .swf file, placed it into Captivate and published it, the resulting .swf opened for a couple of seconds then crashed, or closed, or whatever. I just get a blank screen for a couple of seconds, then nothing.
Please advise re: the best movie format to place into Captivate. I can convert the .avi to any format.
Thanks, mpHi there

Well, for starters, Adobe Support people don't lurk in the forums waiting for issues to resolve.
What you mostly have here are users helping other users. Now we do notice that members of the Adobe Captivate Development team have been frequently posting here since version 5 has been released. While I heartily applaud that move and agree that it will only help the product over the long haul, we shouldn't count on it because Adobe says right up front that the forums are User to User and not an officially sanctioned support channel.

Importing a movie (mov) into iDVD 16.9
I have been attempting to import a movie (mov) into iDVD. The movie is 16.9 aspect ratio and every time I import it into iDVD it defaults tp 4.3 even though I set it in the beginning within iDVD at 16.9.
Can someone help meHi
There are in two places You need to set 16x9
• First when You Create a new project
• Then under Project Info (top row menu)
This can jump back to 4x3 if You select to use such a theme - then just go up and change it back again
SAVE AS A DISKIMAGE
Test this first - to see that all plays as You want it
Then first burn Your DVD

Cannot import specific MOV file into iMovie. HELP please!
I have been using iMovie for many years and am not a novice.
For some reason, I have a specific MOV file that I cannot import into iMovie 10.0.5. When I try to import the file, I get an error message:
"No Importable Files: None of the selected files or folders can be imported"
The file is NOT corrupt and plays perfectly in QuickTime. Interestingly, when I try to import the movie in iMovie, it shows 0.0 sec duration, even though it load/plays perfectly in iMovie with a duration of 54:45. See file A1 below:
I even tried converting the file to M4V in Quicktime, but iMovie would still not import the new M4V file.
Any suggestions? This is an important Movie, I cannot re-record it, and I need to edit it in iMovie.
Thanks in advance!I copied it below. I would appreciate any suggestions!

IMovie doesn't import all movies from iPhoto - at least one solution
I noticed that iMovie 08 imported my movies from iPhoto, but strangely not all of them. A quick search of the support forums indicated many others were having the same issue.
After comparing file attributes of movies that were importing successfully into iMovie versus movies that didn't show up, I found that a rogue character ("&") was preventing iMovie from importing the file properly.
Renaming the title in iPhoto does not resolve the issue, since the file name (in Finder) remains the same. However, if I make a copy of that file outside of the iPhoto Library, rename it in Finder, then re-import it back into iPhoto, then iMovie will see it. I didn't rename the movie file inside of the iPhoto Library for fear of corrupting the library structure.
I found this to work at least with my .avi files. I still have the same issue as everyone else with iMovie not importing .mpg files that play properly in iPhoto.

Good thinking! The only way to change the filename in iPhoto is to export the movie file, import it back in, copy over comments, keywords from the old to the new movie, and then delete the old movie. -
I am working on a project that was captured and edited in FCE4 at 16x9 and was wondering when I import a QT movie if I should import it with the dimensions QT export uses and then use the Anamorphic option or import with the dimensions I want the final output to be (853x480)? Is there a quality difference with either?
I was following Tom's link below for output to IDVD but now I am adding Chapter Markers in FCE and need to get the scenes back into FCE to make one Master Scene. If there is an easier way to accomplish this please let me know.
http://www.fcpbook.com/Video9.htmlWell, if you still have the original project and media you could just drag your older sequence into your new sequence. Then, if you need to edit the footage in that sequence you double-click it in your final sequence in the timeline.
I hope that made sense, I realize that it sounds confusing the way I explained it...
