Import FF Bookmarks into Bookmarks MENU

Hi all,
Thinking about moving back to Safari 3.2 from FireFox. Wondering if there is a way to import my thousands of FF bookmarks into the Safari bookmark menu so I don't have to go to Show All Bookmarks or use Bookmarks as my startup page in order to access said bookmarks.
Also, any thoughts as to why, when I log into Discussions with Safari, it will keep my log in name, but not my password, while FireFox always keeps both my log in name and password so I can just click one button to log in?
Thanks

Hi M,
move them all to the Bookmark Menu group, which you can do from the sidebar of Show All Bookmarks.
It seems like I remember one used to be able to do what you're suggesting, but my imported bookmarks are in a folder in the sidebar, and the Bookmarks Menu shows up as a blue icon, definitely not a folder. I'm looking for some way around opening every single address and then saving in to the Bookmarks Menu.
The other problem you mentioned could be any number of things such as your Security preference settings, your Keychain, AutoFill problems, etc.
Hmmm, as I said, it works fine with FireFox, and with any/all other protected sites I've tried . . . . I'm running 10.4.11 on an 867MHz TiBook with 768MB RAM.

  • Import mp3 (podcast) into podcast menu

I subscribe to a lot of podcasts. Older podcasts don't show up in the library available to download. If I go to their website and download, it shows the file as mp3. When I right click and save target as, and point it to to iTunes, podcast, and indicate the podcast file I want it to save to...it saves it, but I can't see it in the podcast window of iTunes.
    Thanks.

I don't know what phones this may or may not work work on but, I have been playing with jPlayer which works on "iOS" so iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch:

  • Can't save bookmarks into folders. Went through help database. Nothing helped. Firefox v.3.6.21

Suddenly I can't anymore save bookmarks into bookmark folders I have made. The saving Window does not open. Saving at the end of the bookmark list (main folder) is ok. I looked through all help database and did all the deeds advised to do. Did not help in this case. The Firefox is v. 3.6.21 (Finnish translation).
Tried to repair the Firefox install (installed it again) but didn't help either.
I also thought to remove the browser totally and reinstall then again. For that I tried to import my bookmarks into Internet Explorer (Import...) but IE crashed (CTD). I have done this import before succesfully. Perhaps there is something really wrong with my Firefox?
I'd really not like to save my "millions" of bookmarks and their folders one by one again if there is no other solution than reinstall the Firefox.
I installed XMarks for that purpose but don't know if I can trust it.

Is it possible there is a search set in the Browser for the project with missing images? When I set 1 project to view only 5 starts, all my images will not appear as expected in the Browser since I have not ratings, but selecting the Folder level will display all of them. Check that.

  • Importing bookmarks into safari

is there a way to import my favorite places from aol into safari?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Safari Tiger has a feature in the File Menu>Import bookmarks. By selecting it, you would navigate to your AOL Bookmarks. Once selected, the bookmarks can be found by clicking on the Book Icon on your Bookmarks Bar, opening the Bookmarks Manager. On the left side under "collections" you would see a separate folder for AOL. From there you could drag/drop specific bookmarks into your existing bookmark folders, or move the entire folder to the Bookmarks Bar" collection, if you wanted the entire folder to appear on the Bar.
I don't use AOL, so I'm not sure about the name of the file you would navigate to, or its location. If you are not sure, you can use Spotlight to help you in the search.

  • How do I import Delicious bookmarks into Firefox with tags?

How do I import Delicious bookmarks into Firefox Bookmarks Organizer so the tags port over? I tried importing but the tags are not coming over.

I recommend Xmarks. For the long-winded reasons why there's nothing better, read below.
    [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/ https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/xmarks-sync/]
    # Once installed, run the setup wizard and sign up for a free Xmarks account.
    # Once signed up, sync your bookmarks.
    # Head over to [http://my.xmarks.com/ my.xmarks.com/] and click the '''Tools''' menu option on the page, then choose '''Import Bookmarks From Del.icio.us...'''
    # Enter your del.icio.us login information so Xmarks can import your bookmarks.
    # You should see a list of your del.icio.us bookmarks. Click the '''CHECK ALL''' button, then the '''IMPORT CHECKED ITEMS''' button.
    # When Xmarks next syncs your bookmarks, you will have all of your del.icio.us bookmarks complete with tags, in a folder named "Imported from Delicious ''date of import''".
    # If you're the untrusting sort, change your del.icio.us account password.
There are two official Delicious extensions at the moment. "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/delicious-bookmarks/ Delicious Bookmarks]" which not compatible with Firefox 4.0.x, and "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/delicious-extension/ Delicious Extension]" which is marked as compatible but doesn't actually work.

Slurp didn't work for me. I got all the prompts like I was supposed to, but clicking the '''Export''' button on the delicious page changed its text to '''Please Wait...''' and it just got stuck like that with no way to continue.
Apart from that, I was rather uneasy about installing an unreviewed extension from an author I've never heard of.

You have that backwards. It's Firefox that does not either import or export tags from or to bookmarks.html. The only way to preserve tags when exporting is to create a json backup; these types of files wipe out all existing bookmarks when imported.

  • Saving a bookmark into imported bookmark folders

I imported my old bookmarks from Internet Explorter and placed the folders contained within onto the top bar of Firefox (whatever it's called). I then tried to save a new bookmark into one of those folders but can't see the option anywhere! I've tried everything, including searching through the "Display your Bookmarks" dropdown but can't see my imported folders anywhere. They have a complicated structure and I don't wan't to spend loads of time creating new ones. Can you help please?

When you use the Library dialog (Ctrl+Shift+b) you will see there are three top-level "containers" for bookmarks:
    * Bookmarks Menu
    * Bookmarks Toolbar
    * Unsorted Bookmarks
Where did you put your imported bookmarks?
In the Add Bookmark/Edit Bookmark dialog, there are two lists: the button showing the most recently used folder, and the smaller button to the right of that which expands the dialog to let you view the full list of folders. The second button probably will be more useful to start. (Screen shot attached)

  • Importing Safari bookmarks into IE on Windows XP Pro

I was just given an old PC by my mom. I'm using RDC to control it with my iBook (very nifty - I can sit down here in the living room and control that dumb PC upstairs!). Anyway, is there a way to import my Safari bookmarks into Internet Explorer on the PC?

Use Safari's File --> Export Bookmarks... command to export your bookmarks to a file. I suggest you save the file to your Desktop so that you can find it easily.
Copy that file to your Windows computer and then use Internet Explorer's import feature to import your bookmarks.
    Hope this helps! bill

  • My bookmarks have vanished. I want to re-import from Safari. But the "Import" command in the File menu is not available. What's up?

Firefox works fine. However, my bookmarks toolbar is marked as <empty>. Didn't used to be. I have no idea where they've gone.
So rather than dwell on the loss, I thought I'd move ahead by importing the bookmarks I have in Safari over to Firefox. No luck, the "import" command on the File menu is de-highlighted. I cannot select it.

    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and features like visited links are disabled and not showing
    * You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

    Hi,

Try de-selecting Sync Bookmarks under the Info tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, select Apply followed by a sync.
Follow this by re-selecting Sync Bookmarks and another sync.

  • Can someone help me find a way to import my bookmarks into Firefox 4.0?

I've recently suffered a computer crash. I had everything saved on an external hard drive, and now I'm trying to import the places.sqlite that supposedly holds the bookmarks into Firefox. Firefox refuses to recognize this file. I have seen this question posted many times, but no good answer to it. This is an easy drag and drop task for IE. Why can the same not be said for Firefox?

Unfortunately, yes I did read that article. I tried importing the places.sqlite file from the Library. The places.sqlite file wouldn't even show up so I could select it when I went to import it. I also tried dragging and dropping it into the right place, but the bookmarks wouldn't show when I restarted Firefox. I've wasted hours on this, and I'm pretty frustrated. I don't know what the problem is. I've seen other posts about this same problem, but I haven't seen anyone say why the places.sqlite file refuses to import.

  • How to import FFox bookmarks into iPad via iTuneon a machine w/o Safari?

I am running Win 7 with the latest iTunes, and Firefox.
I want to import my FF bookmarks into Safari running on my iPad2. However, I don't have (or really have a need for) Safari on my Windows Machine.
Is there a way to import my bookmarks into iTunes w/o having Safari installed on my (Win) machine?
Don't really need yet another browser. (I also have Chrome installed, which has all my bookmarks, in case it's easier to do it that way.)
    Thanks!

Thanks all, will try xmarks and report back.
While we are on the topic of safari on the iPad...where is the setting to set the default zoom level for web pages?
Every time a page loads, I have to pinch and zoom out so it's readable. Even if I do it once, when I navigate way and come back, it defaults to the tiny font. Can't find anything in Setttings, Safari. Safari itself has no setting at all that I can find.
Also for the bookmarks, could I just install Google toolbar and Google bookmarks? That seems like it would do the job.
As you see I'm brand new to iPad.

  • Can't access bookmarks that overflow across the toolbar. They are there but can only get them by going into bookmarks toolbar in menu. They used to display off to side when you clicked next to last item. Can I fix this?

This feature always worked before. Then one day it stopped. Can access overflow items on bookmarks toolbar through menu, but rarely across the top. The ones that don't fit across the top can't be brought up anymore.

  • Can I import Yahoo Bookmarks into Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar without doing it individually??

    PC
    Mozilla 37.0.1
    i figured it out.

You would have to copy the places.sqlite file or possibly import an HTML backup (bookmarks.html) to get the favicons.
A JSON backup doesn't include the favicons, so in that case you need to visit each bookmarked site.
