Import File Failure, Help!

Hello, I am new to Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and thought i would start by working my way through the Adobe "Classroom In a Book" CS4. I made a start through the early chapters then almost instantly hit a problem. What ever I tried to import e.g. Panasonic P2, Still images below 4000x4000, .avi. Basically all the material that was supplied on the Dvd that come with the book, I get the message "Import File Failure" "File Video Dimentions (Width/Height) Too Large".
I've tried restarting the computer but no luck, really gutted as I need to learn this program before next semester
I've also made sure my sequence sizes are the same size as my assets
I am running the Adobe Suite on a MacBook Pro 2.53GHz with Snow Leopard (10.6.4)

Try reading through the results of MY SEARCH to see if anything applies. You may just need to uninstall CS4 and then reinstall it.

I'm really astonished by the numbers of users playing with matches.
A computer is not a perfect tool.
A failure is a common behavior.
If you keep a single copy you are quit suiciding.
If you keep a duplicate of the last saved copy, it's quite the same. You may be quite sure that if the saved copy is bad, the duplicate is bad too.
The only serious practice is to keep several copies saved at different times.

My guess is that it is dead.
If it is a flatfile, try to rename it:
xx.pages.zip
double click it will give you a new package entitled
xx.pages
contol + click the package to "show packages contents".
You will get :
Preview.pdf is a PDF version of your document.

I lost a really important file (an iText Express document) randomly and then one day, a "recovered file" folder popped up and I assume it has to do with that, but the file just contains a doc with a bunch of coding. What do I do with that? HELP!!!

As the title question states, I lost a really important file with iText Express. I've been using iText Express for a year or two now because it's just the one application I downloaded for writing and saving documents. I was working on one for a few months and randomly one day last month, when I went to open it to resume editing my work, the file was gone! I searched my whole laptop and trash. Then one day, a "Recovered Files" folder popped up in the area my file used to be, so I assumed that was the file I lost being recovered and I felt relieved. But when I opened the folder, the document inside was a "SoftwareMap" document with a bunch of coding written in it. I don't understand what I'm supposed to do with that or how it's going to help me recover my file?!? I lost SO much work!!! If anyone has ANY idea what to do, how this happened, or if the coding is supposed to help me recover my file, PLEASE help!!!

No, I already tried looking at that. The file that recovered was not in the trash, it appeared in my documents folder. I opened it up and inside was an iText Express document with coding. Then inside of there, was and then and this "SoftwareMap" document contained a bunch of coding and symbols and words.

I downloaded CS6 Red Plug-In and added to Package Contents, replaced the current files with the new without backing up, now my RED footage thumbnails and color-correction don't WORK! How do I get my old importerRed file back!!?? HELP!

Import file to GUI! Need help!!!

Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding to "importing file". I will appreciate any help!
I want to use text file in my program. What I need is "file path" to the file in computer so that i can read this text file to filter the necessary information to build
objects that i need after that. The file path should be navigated through the file system by user.
What i need is something like JFileChooser. But JFileChooser is too simple. It is very difficult to have extreme makeover.
Is there anyway to just get input that is "file path" to text file without using JFileChoose. What I want is file path only and the user can navigate the file. Simple GUI is enough.

The [JFileChooser tutorial|http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/components/filechooser.html] includes a working example of using your own icons for specific types of files. It ammounts to extending FileView and setting it on the JFileChooser via
JFileChooser#setFileView(...);So that's what I did. And for the icons, I return the appropriate icon according to the installed FileSystemView.

Did you try unchecking Sync Photos on the Photos tab of your sync settings and syncing? If this doesn't remove them, try creating an empty folder on your PC, then selecting to sync this folder on the Photos tab and syncing your phone. This should delete the existing photos prior to syncing the empty folder.
Also, you can transfer these photos to your computer if you need to by using an app like PhotoSync.

My iPhoto isn't opening... I think I deleted an important file when I was using MacKeeper. Anyways, it says something about quitting unexpectedly. PLEASE HELP!

As I was mentioning in the question, I think I deleted an important file using MacKeeper. I was trying to create more space on my laptop, but I'm not sure what I touched. But whenever I click on iPhoto, it takes awhile to open, but then a file pops up saying that iPhoto quit unexpectedly. It then has all these letters and codes which I guess it stands for the problem. The photo below is what is popping up.
I'm just a girl in dying need of help! I don't know much about Apple obviously. Any help at all is greatly appreciated!

I am using Premiere pro CS5 trial version. The videos I have are in .mpg format and play fine in other programs. When I import them into Premiere they are importing as audio files.
I have a week to get this project done for uni and Im freaking out! It worked on the uni computer before christmas but isnt working here, its the same program and same operating system (windows 7).
What am I doing wrong!!!?

So you have backed up the content of the computer's hard drive, too?
That usually is a great idea since it is possible to lose use of the system
if parts of it have accidentally been removed or get over-written, or the
main system files get corrupted, when the hard disk drive gets too full.
If you have not trashed the originals of your created content, that remain
after you made copies on an external hard drive or other device, then
that is what you'd have to do to reclaim the capacity still in use by them.
What are specifications of the hard disk drive? The unused capacity
verses the used, in GB? If the hard drive has less than 15 to 20%
free or unused capacity, you could run into trouble. Mine are 40-50%
unused hard drive space, so ample room is available for automatic
Virtual Memory to use that capacity as temporary swap file space.
This is helpful when the computer could use more physical RAM
memory capacity, but doesn't have it. Or if the RAM is maxxed out
and you can't add any more. Virtual Memory is part of OS X and the
system automatically can use as much as is available, but it is better
to be sure there is plenty of resources available to include chip RAM
as well as unused or free hard drive capacity for use as VM.
If for some reason your files in Trash won't go away when you empty
it, you may have to restart. Be sure you have not included any System
files in the content in the Trash, or the Mac may not start up later on.
You may have to boot the computer from the install-restore OS X DVD
and run Repair Disk from its version of Disk Utility, to be sure it's OK.
I'm guessing that by now you know enough about the vintage system
in the older hardware to figure it out, so I won't write about it now.
In any event... hopefully you can simply trash the files, but check them
carefully, & you may need to remove (copy to archive first) even more.

Those are the constituent parts of a standard mpeg2 DVD. Storing them is easy: just copy the folder to your hard drive and they will play in DVD player or VLC.
But that format is not intended for editing. To do so:
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

You can seelct to leace the files where they are, copy into Aperture or else put them someplace else on the HD.
What is your setting?

Help--Cannot Import Files!

I cannot import files into Final Cut Express HD 3.5. I have downloaded the latest updates and am on OS 10.4.9, but the problem started before the OS upgrade, so that isn't the problem.
My Macbook is about 2 weeks old, and the program worked when I first got it. But then it started to give me this message:
I installed the latest FCE Updates, but nothing seems to help. The only solution I have found is to create a seperate user account for video editing. I don't know why that works, but it's a pain. I don't like having to log out to work on a video.
The files are just JPGs, and I even imported these same pictures before. Video files do not work either.
I have searched and haven't found anything.
Help would be appreciated.

Have you tried deleting the preferences files in the account that doesn't work, as in Final Cut Express 2: How to Delete the Preference Files?
Make sure you delete all 3 files: just adapt names to your version of FCE.

I am trying to edit a home movie on iMovies but when I try to download the movie from a dvd a message comes up saying there are no importable files. The DVD is the last in a series of 5 and the others have downloaded without any difficulty.Help?

Chris , thanks for the prompt reply. The dvd was produced by a third party that I found on line . I had a number of old mini digital video cassettes from a Sony Handycam. I can play the DVD's on my laptop but I can't edit them on iMovies to delete a lot of the rubbish on them. I have five DVD's and three downloaded without any problem but the last two are according to iMovies non importable.
