  • MP3:  How large can import file be for 4 GB Nano?

    I am having trouble importing one particular MP3 file, 74,000 kb, into my my 4GB, which is only filled to 1.3 GB. Is the file too big? It's an audio book.

    The thread title "How large can import file be for 4 GB Nano?" is something of a give-away, no?

  • Important file modification for Cornerstone users

    After having problems with HTML5 files not loading in Internet Explorer in Cornerstone, I asked Cornerstone to look at one of my HTML5 published zip files. The issue I was having with this particular file was that the course wouldn't load in Internet Explorer but would load in any other browser. They found that there was an error message with the DoFinish command.
    I did some digging and found that since the file SCORM_utilities.js wasn't being referenced in the index_SCORM.html file that Cornerstone wasn't loading the SCORM_utilities.js file at all. I added the line <script type='text/javascript' src="SCORM_utilities.js"></script> in the header section of my index_SCORM.html file and was able to open the file correctly in Cornerstone. I also found that having this in my index file also fixed other problems I was having in Cornerstone with swf published files not working correctly, such as the close/exit button of the playbar being non-functional.
    You can modify the default html files and add the line to them so that every time you publish a file the fill will always be referenced. The following directories are where the html files are located.
    FOR HTML5
    <install path>\Adobe Captivate 8 (64 Bit)\Adobe Captivate 8 x64\HTML
    FOR SWF SCORM 1.2
    <install path>\Adobe Captivate 8 (64 Bit)\Adobe Captivate 8 x64\Templates\Publish\LMS\Standard\SCORM\Default\1_2
    FOR SWF SCORM 2004
    <install path>\Adobe Captivate 8 (64 Bit)\Adobe Captivate 8 x64\Templates\Publish\LMS\Standard\SCORM\Default\2004

    Thanks everyone for your replies.
    phrakture, I have included a patch file also. It's in the archive but you can download it directly:
    http://www.iogopro.co.uk/contrib/pacman … earch.diff
    Here is how to try it out (assuming the diff and pacman source archive is in the CWD):
    $ tar xvzf pacman-2.9.5.tar.gz
    $ cd pacman-2.9.5
    $ patch -p1 -i ../pacman_and_search.diff
    $ ./configure
    $ make
    $ ./pacman -Ss 3d game
    Pink Chick, for that I would have to write a mini parser and interpreter. It's a bit beyond the scope of what I was aiming for ;-) Most of the time I don't imagine needing the full power of arbitrary expressions. It would probably be possible to add support for NOT e.g. 3d !game without too much trouble, I'll look into it.
    stonecrest, I could add another command line flag. Any suggestions? Personally I wouldn't mind it replacing the default behaviour, but I'm biased :-)
    I will file this as a feature request in the bug tracker as suggested.

  • Maximum import file size for stills?

    I am getting an error importing stills that are large, about 6000 pixels wide. I wanted to zoom into the image in my 1920x1200 video... Couldn't find info on max image size... anyone know?
    thanks...

    Studio3D,
    I do a fair amount of work with stills in Premiere. I always plan the size necessary for the pans and re-size to exactly what is required, based on the Project's image dimensions. As I do not do any "random pans and zooms," (each is choreographed tightly) I do all of the re-sizing work in PS, before Import. However, with your hi-rez Project, you might well be pushing the limiting size in Premiere. You may have to step back, just a little, and tighten your pans to accommodate these limits.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
    PS I like the re-sizing algorithms in PS better than any I have worked with in PrP. Have not experimented with CS4, so I might change my tune, should they have changed their algorithms.

  • What is the Max import file size for Aperture

    I'll some times shoot film and get very large scans done as Tiffs or Jpegs. 500MB+ What is the Max that Aperture can manage, or is it only determined by the Mac configuration?

    I'm curious to know this as well before upgrading. Hopefully it has been improved in Aperture 3. I know Aperture 2 only supported up to 250MB which was near useless if you'd ever made any significant adjustments and edits in Ps and saved it as a .psd.
    All my medium format (digital and film scans) and large format scans give me the maroon "Unsupported Image Format" error while trying to view in Aperture 2.

  • I have recently purchased an iMac from the Apple store. I previously had a windows computer and I transferred all my important files and music from the old computer onto an external hard drive. I've plugged the hard drive in and I can't seem to locate it!

    Hi everyone,
    Before I set up my new iMac, I transferred all my important files from my old windows computer (pictures, documents, iTunes etc) onto an external hard drive. I had no trouble using and locating my hard drive on my old computer, however I'm having great difficulty finding it on my iMac. The external hard drive is plugged in with all wires connected and correct. I've tried all the USB ports and I still can't locate it!
    I just want to transfer everything from my hard drive to the iMac!
    If anyone could help me locate and guide me through the process of using an external hard drive on an iMac, then that would be brilliant!

    Try using Migration Assistant following this guide:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4413#3
    There is advice in this document for using Migration Assistant from Time Machine or other hard drive.

  • Where are my important files located in Leopard 10.5?

    I had an old file from apple titled "Where are my important files located?" which applied to 10.3. I could not find this same doc for 10.5. It had the location of all the important files for safari, mail, address book, etc. and was handy when I was mirgrating files or backing up or so forth. Is there now an updated file/doc for this with regards to 10.5 Leopard? Or is every important file's location still located in the same location? Thanks

    Hi Teal,
    I'm a big "foggy" on a lot of the OS X 10.3 "Panther" stuff but I think you'll find OS X 10.5 to be pretty similar in most regards.
    As far as your user information, everything related to your user will be in the /Users/username location. The "Library" folder is probably the most important when it comes to application related data such as Safari, Mail, Address Book, iCal, etc. Some applications will have a folder directly inside the library folder (/Users/Username/Library/ApplicationName) and some will store data in the Application Support folder (/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/ApplicationName)
    The important thing, is that all of your user data is stored in the /Users/Username location that will often be represented by a "House" icon when signed into that user.
    Where it gets a little tricky, is some applications will store data in the /Users/Shared location and the /Library location. So if you ever do a total system migration there's a possibility you'll need to reinstall some applications. A Time Machine backup can assist with system migrations as it does a full and complete backup of your HD, including the User's home folder.

  • Lightroom 1.0; request minimal importing and placeholders for incompatible files

    It's distressing to find out the Lightroom 1.0 still insists that PSD files be saved with maximize compatibility, at the expense of a huge increase in file size, simply to have it be shown among the files an imported folder. While I have no need for every image file type to be editable in LR directly, I'd at least like to know where it is among other related files in the imported folder. Bridge shows every file in a folder regardless of whether it's an image file or it's compatible with previewing or editing.
    So what I'd like is an option when importing files (perhaps by reference in the existing location if that's an issue) to allow incompatible file types to be imported anyway and show with an icon placeholder. This is just a common sense feature since the reason, frequently, why people save PSD files without "maximize compatibility" is to minimize file size and time to save the file. Such a placeholder file should then be editable only using a designated external application.

  • Imported files to wrong location

    I am using Lightroon 4 on a Macbook pro, OS Lion.
    I forgot to change the location of all my local wordpress images before importing them to a new folder, and they ended up being moved to my default dated folders i.e. Pictures/2012/2012-01-01.
    How can I either undo my last import, or easily locate all of those files I just imported?
    Thanks!
    Rob

    Long shot but try this.
    Go to Previous Import in Grid Mode
    Select all [CMD][A]
    Go to All Photographs (Previous import files should remain selected)
    Set the sort order in the Tool bar to Added Order  (Z to A)
    Your previous import should be the large block of selected items at the top.
    Scroll to the last selected item and the Previous to the Previous import should be the next file.
    Select it and hold down your shift key and down arrow until you reach the end of your Wordpress files
    The hard part is knowing how far to go to select the files from there.  Hopefully there is an obvious break that will clue you in.

    Unfortunately, that drive is long gone, probably back to the mfr. Drives are not returned when they are exchanged. You can go by and ask them, but the chances are slim to none.

  • Maximum file size for importing into Premiere Pro CS6

    Hi,
    I'm considering recording raw video, no compression at 720p, 30 fps for 20-30 min.  This woudl result in a file that is close to 80 Gbytes.  I'm wondering what the maximum file size for importing into premiere Pro is and if I need to split this file up into smaller pieces.  Any recommendations on how I may deal with uncompressed raw video that is pretty long in length?
    Thanks,
    Serena

    There is bound to be some limit somewhere in the program, but you should be well below that. The biggest issue might be whether your computer is up to the task of handling it. If you will post your computer specs., someone will give you comments on that aspect.
    Good luck,

    Had you never backed up the phone before? When you saw the iTunes logo and cable, the device was in recovery mode. The data was already lost. The only way to recover from that is to restore the device, which will delete all of your data. You will only be able to restore to your last backup, whenever that was. Sorry this happened, but this highlights the importance of doing regular backups. The backup is the only protection you have against a problem like this.

  • Line Drawing best file format for import in InDesign

    i was wondering what is  the accepted and recommended file format for files to be imported in InDesign. I was under the impression that AI files should be saved as EPS but I just read an article that says that Adobe's Dov  Isaacs said that eps will be shortly obsolete.What should I do. I work on curriculum that contains both photographs and line drawing and we use tiff for the former and eps for the latter. Most of our line drawing is done in AI. Howeverwe have a cartoonist that sends us files in jpg format. What would be the best file format for him and for us as we draw in AI?
    Article link: http://www.prepressure.com/library/file-formats/eps
    The future of the EPS file format
    EPS is rapidly becoming an outdated file format which is being  replaced by PDF just like PostScript itself is also being phased out and  replaced by PDF. Don’t just take my word on this. Here is what Dov  Isaacs from Adobe said in a discussion on a PrintPlanet forum about the  future of PostScript: “ …Adobe will continue to support EPS as a  legacy graphics format for import of non-color managed, opaque graphical  data into Adobe applications (such as InDesign and Illustrator).  Although we certain do not recommend that new graphical content be  stored in EPS format (except to satisfy the need to import data into  page layout programs that aren’t quite PDF-centric — no need to mention  names here!), our user base should feel comfortable that there is no  need to worry about a need to convert their very sizable libraries of  EPS-based graphic assets.”

    Yes, I drag the AI file in.
    If after it's in place I need to change I can just right click and chose edit original make the changes and save and the illustration in inDesign will reflect the changes.
    On the other hand I can make changes to the original and all iterations of the file will automatically update, say if I used the illustration in several documents.
    As an example I had completed a set of documents for a new company, i.e., biz cards, brochures, product labeling, stationery, etc. and in their wisdom they decided to make changes in their logo, which, of course, is on everything. I opened the AI file with the logo made the changes saved and all the documents then reflected the changes. The only caveat to do this seamlessly is to make sure that your file logo size is the same as the original or you might have to tweak placement in the other documents
    It is this interoperability that to me makes the Creative Suite so much more than the sum of their parts.

  • "Preview for Files Not Available" & "Failed to Find a Place for the Imported File"??

    When I export RAW images into LR, some say "Preview for Files Not Available".  Also, it says "Failed to Find a Place for the Imported File".  Why?  What can I do to resolve this

    Stop the application services, recompile the JSP files manually, and start the application services. Check the login page then.
