Import files encoded in H264 or DVCPro?

Does Final Cut Express import files encoded in H264?
Apple’s Technical Specifications page http://support.apple.com/kb/SP536 is silent about supported codecs and makes no mention of supported file formats at all. It notes some CAMERAS supported, but not files or codecs.
From the FCP Express manual:
*Video Formats Supported by Final Cut Express
Final Cut Express supports any video format that uses an installed QuickTime codec.*
On the same page, a table appears listing
*D-5 HD
D-6
HDCAM
HDCAM SR
DVCPRO HD
XDCAM HD
HDV
RGB video 1080p30 720p60*
Can this really be? Does anyone have experience editing in FCP Express in DVCPro HD, or H264, for example? Or is the manual just misleading?

FCE does not support H.264 for editing. Neither does FCP BTW.
The manual is mistaken. DVCPRO HD is only available with FCP.

  • How do I import files encoded with FFV1 into Premier CS5?

    Sorry if I get things a little mixed up here, but I'm still a relative editing newbie and some terms are confusing to me, but here goes!
    I've been given a bunch of short video clips that I need to import into Premier CS5. Trouble is, they have been (I am told) encoded with the FFV1 codec, and when I import them into Premier all I can see is the audio track and no video. Other than asking my friend to re-encode the files (over 200) in a different way, is there some workaround to get these files working in Premier?
    Thanks for reading.

  • Imported files h264 are not importing correctly ?

    Hello community hope fully some one understands my issue.
    I have several 4k vid files from an Ae template  . The files are great working in Ae and Bridge cs6.
    When imported I get a solid green image  ,the frame rates are less than 1 fps or just 1 fps?
    digging up info for these files says avc h264
    Thanks

    OK, if "Auto Tone" is not set, what are the slider positions after import in the Develop Basic Panel? If they're all at zero, then it really means that you are seeing the results of Lightroom's default rendering of your Raw files. If that's not to your taste, you can try to develop your own default settings to make the image as you prefer to see it.

  • File encoding issue on import step

    Dear all,
    I am experiencing an import issue with csv files generated from MS Dynamics AX ERP, a Reporting Services query I guess.
    Having a look at the concerned files using notepad++ I can see that encoding is UTF-8.
    As a workaround, if I open files using Excel and re-save it as csv, then they are encoded as ANSI as UTF-8, in that case FDMEE import process is effective.
    Regarding our settings (FDMEE v.11.1.2.3.530):
    - System level: file charset is set to UTF-8
    - System level: no specified file charset
    - User level: no specified file charset
    My questions are :
    - Is this normal behavior? Why UTF-8 files are not supported if system level conf sayz UTF-8?
    - Is it relative to system encoding (OS, DB...)
    - Is it related to file so do I have to force encoding through befImport script?
    I had a deep look at this article http://akafdmee.blogspot.fr/2014/11/importing-files-with-different-file.html which is great but still no magic solution comes to my mind! I'll keep on testing.

    Hello Dora,
    I had the same problem, even with the most simple JavaBean Class. I found out that the export-jar function of the Developer Studio 2.0.13 creates sightly different jars than when I use the jar-tool from the command line. You can check the jar structure by using the command
    jar tf file.jar
    JAR File created by Developer Studio (did not work):
    D:temp>jar tf test.jar
    META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    de/test/bean/SimpleBean.class
    JAR created by jar tool from the SDK from the top directory with
    jar cf test.jar de
    D:temp>jar tf test.jar de
    META-INF/
    META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    de/
    de/test/
    de/test/bean/
    de/test/bean/SimpleBean.class
    The second jar file worked for me even <b>without any special manifest file</b> but the one that is automatically created.
    I hope that helps!

  • Problem with import file type setting

    Problem with import file type settings - In preferences>general I select "wav encoder" But then going to tools>Create it still says "create mp3 version".
    Can't find a way to overcome this. Thanks for any help.

    Doublechecking, roy. After making the preferences change, are you leaving the General tab by clicking the OK button down the bottom-right-hand corner of the tab?

    We have exported our metadata and looked at the doc_EDI_X12.xml file and ALL of these referenced documents exist in that file and can be seen by going to Administration --> Document and under the Document Protocols navigation --> EDI_X12 --> 5010 --> 810 --> 810Def (as an example).
    If we strip out all of the SupportedDocumentDefiinition lines then the ant script will build an import file with just the trading partners and Identifications.
    What are we doing incorrectly or what is not working properly to get the ant script to build the import zip file??
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Ken

    Does that mean we have to create all of the document type definitions in the selfservice file?
    We have created (installed) all of the document types by installing them from the B2B Administration --> Document page.
    The definitions in the Trading Partner xml file exactly match the definitions of the installed documents.
    In the selfservice.xsd the <element> SelfService shows the profile:DocumentProtocols as minOccurs as 0 :
         <element name="SelfService">
              <complexType>
                   <sequence>
                        <element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1"
                             ref="profile:DocumentProtocols" />
                        <element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1"
                             ref="profile:TradingPartners" />
                        <element minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1"
                             ref="profile:Agreements" />
                   </sequence>
                   <attribute name="version" type="profile:non-empty-string"
                        use="optional" />
              </complexType>
         </element>
    so we thought that since the documents had already been defined (created/installed) to B2B they would not have to be redefined in the selfservice xml.
    If we have to define all of the document types in the selfservice xml file that we are using for the trading partners what are the minimum values that we need to include?
    Could we use minimal definitions such as this:
    <DocumentProtocols>
    <DocumentProtocol name="EDI_X12">
    <DocumentProtocolVersion name="4010">
    <DocumentType name="850">
    <DocumentDefinition name="850def" />
    </DocumentType>
    <DocumentType name="997">
    <DocumentDefinition name="997def" />
    </DocumentType>
    </DocumentProtocolVersion>
    </DocumentProtocol>
    </DocumentProtocols>
    before the <TradingPartners> section of the seflxervice xml file?
    Thanks for your assistance!

  • File encoding problen (charset) on glassfish / Sun App Server

    Hi all!
    I hope someone here can point me the right way since I am trying to solve my problems for quite some time now. First my setup: Suse Linux Box with Glassfish V2. I am creating files for users of our website with an EnterpriseBean in an EJB-Module. The users are supposed to be able to choose the file encoding themselves. The files are created from lucene index files that are UTF-8 encoded. When writing a result file I use a OutputStreamWriter with a CharsetEncoder Object and the user-chosen encoding. This works perfectly when the result is utf-8 too. But whenever I try to generate ISO-8859-1 files the encoding in the output files is messed up. It's neither utf-8 nor Latin 1 or any other valid encoding. On my development windows machine it seemed to work just fine.
    So thanks in advanve and many greetings from germany!
    Phil

    For future references:
    this happens to me too and I found that the cause is that the AM server you are going to configure, is already registered into the directory server.
    Try running this command (with the obvious parameters substituted)
    ldapsearch -B -T -D 'cn=directory manager' -w YOUR_CREDENTIALS -b ou=1.0,ou=iPlanetAMPlatformService,ou=services,YOUR_BASEDN -s base objectclass=* | grep YOUR_SERVERNAMEIf you found that the server you are configuring is listed here try going to AMserver console (if you have another AMserver configured) and browse to Configuration->System Properties->Platforms. If the server is here, remove it, if not, just hit Save (very important).
    If this is your first AM and is a first installation you can just get rid of the Directory Server suffix and recreate it with the Top Entry alone.

  • File.encoding in windows influence  by the locale

    How can I set the file.encoding in windows platform that will not be influence by the locale.
    For example, in the Control Panel->Regional Options the locale is set to Russian
    and what I get is that I use file.encoding Cp1251 even though I pass the parameter in the command line
    -Dfile.encoding=Cp1252 (I want to keep Cp1251,
    Cp1251 is US westen default and Cp1252 is Windows Cyrillic)
    I run java program to see what encoding I use
    D:\ProgramFiles\jdk1.3.1\bin\java -Dfile.encoding= Cp1252 TestEncodingThe locale in my pc is Russian and the result is:
    System.getProperty("file.encoding") == Cp1252
    Default ByteToChar Class == sun.io.ByteToCharCp1251
    Default CharToByte Class == sun.io.CharToByteCp1251
    Default CharacterEncoding == Cp1251
    OutputStreamWriter encoding == Cp1251
    InputStreamReader encoding == Cp1251
    TestEncoding.java
    import java.io.PrintStream;
    import java.io.ByteArrayOutputStream;
    import java.io.OutputStreamWriter;
    import java.io.InputStream;
    import java.io.ByteArrayInputStream;
    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    class TestEncoding{
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    String encProperty = System.getProperty("file.encoding");
    System.out.println("System.getProperty(\"file.encoding\") == " + encProperty);
    String byteToCharClass = sun.io.ByteToCharConverter.getDefault().getClass().getName();
    System.out.println("Default ByteToChar Class == " + byteToCharClass);
    String charToByteClass = sun.io.CharToByteConverter.getDefault().getClass().getName();
    System.out.println("Default CharToByte Class == " + charToByteClass);
    String defaultCharset = sun.io.ByteToCharConverter.getDefault().getCharacterEncoding();
    System.out.println("Default CharacterEncoding == " + defaultCharset);
    ByteArrayOutputStream buf = new ByteArrayOutputStream(10);
    OutputStreamWriter writer = new OutputStreamWriter(buf);
    System.out.println("OutputStreamWriter encoding == " + writer.getEncoding());
    byte[] byteArray = new byte[10];
    InputStream inputStream = new ByteArrayInputStream(byteArray);
    InputStreamReader reader = new InputStreamReader(inputStream);
    System.out.println("InputStreamReader encoding == " + reader.getEncoding());

    What are you really trying to accomplish? Applications should avoid relying on undocumented or implementation dependent features, such as the file.encoding property and sun.* classes (see http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/faq/faq-sun-packages.html).
    On the other hand, there's plenty of documented public API that lets you work with specific character encodings. For example, you can specify the character encoding for conversion between byte arrays and String objects (see the String class specification) or when reading or writing files (see the InputStreamReader and OutputStreamWriter classes in java.io).
    The default encoding is needed by the Java runtime when accessing the Windows file system, for example file names, so changing it would likely result in erroneous behavior.

  • c:import character encoding problem (utf-8)

    Aloha @ all,
    I am currently importing a file using the <c:import> functionallity (<c:import url="module/item.jsp" charEncoding="UTF-8">) but it seems that the returned data is not encoded with utf-8 and hence not displayed correctly. The overall file header is:
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1
    Set-Cookie: JSESSIONID=E67F9DAF44C7F96C0725652BEA1713D8;
    Content-Type: text/html;charset=UTF-8
    Content-Length: 6861
    Date: Thu, 05 Jul 2007 04:18:39 GMT
    Connection: close
    I've set the file-encoding on all pages to :
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" %>
    <%@ page pageEncoding="UTF-8"%>
    but the error remains... is this a known bug and is there a workaround?

    Partially, yes. It turns out that I created the documents in eclipse with a different character encoding. Hence the entire document was actually not UTF-encoded...
    So I changed each document encoding in Eclipse to UTF and got it working just fine...

  • Importing files into DVD SP problems

    Just now having the following problem. When trying to import files into DVDSP, some files import correctly, while others show either the audio or video component of the file in red. checking error logs shows that there are errors on encoding either -47 or -43. Also two folders both named "multimediaimporter.oxygene" are showing up in the dock and app switcher. any clues?
    Thanks
    Ric

    You cannot bring VOBs into DVD SP. You can use other tools to do that, but your best bet probably is to demux the VOBs using [MPEG Streamlcip|http://www.squared5.com> to the m2vs and audio and just use those in DVD SP (in other words if you are not re-editing the footage this will be the easiest route) then add menus as needed

  • No Importable Files message on importable videos

    Hi,
    I've imported files from my Pentax K7 (MJPEG encoded AVI 1280x720) approx. 2006 times before.
    Today, FCPX says "No Importable Files" after I try to import a video which is exactly the same specs as the previous 2006 videos.
    The video plays fine in "Preview" and in Quicktime.
    I also tried copying the file off the memory card and onto a drive before attempting to import it. No go.
    I don't suppose there's any tricks to know about getting this to work when it starts randomly misbehaving?

  • Don't understand what this means I/O Error: import file

    I'm building a website in dreamweaver cs5 with a XML doctype. When I tried to validate my css I got an error code I don't understand. This is the error: I/O Error: import file:/Volumes/Macintosh%20HD/Users/schweideltyson/Desktop/CS%2080_final%20project/gallery .html: Operation not permitted. Any suggestions? The only thing I can think of is that I imported some text for my index page from another website.

    XML is used for data.  This is an example of a media playlist in XML.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
         <playlist version="1" xmlns="http://xspf.org/ns/0/">
             <trackList>
                      <track><location>file:///mp3s/song_1.mp3</location></track>
                      <track><location>file:///mp3s/song_2.mp3</location></track>
                      <track><location>file:///mp3s/song_3.mp3</location></track>
             </trackList>
        </playlist>
    XHTML is for web pages.

  • CS6 Encore requiring a second encode of H264 BluRay from media encoder

    Have noticed that when I encode an H264 file in Blu-Ray for encore, that when I try to build the DVD I get a message that the file is not proessed.  If I go back to media encoder and reprocess the existing H264 file, Encore will then accept it.  I think this is a bug, but in bug report, no option for Media Encoder.  this has happened on 4 seperate occassions since I downloaded th latest Adobe CS6 updates.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    thx...Jim Watt

    Hi John,
    Thanks for the reply.  the file i'm atrtempting to use in Encore is an .mp4v file from media encoder, which is, I think the same file type i've used successfully in the past.  When I re-encode the file has the same extension, but it will work.  I perceive this is a new issue with the latest update of CS6.  I've not encountered this issue before the update.
    Thx...jw

  • Crash when importing files

    Hi,
    I'm trying to import files to encode but when I'm doing it, AME lags and becomes unresponsive. My video files that I'm importing are more than 4gb. Anyone can help me out?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    Just found the problem.
    Delete /Library/QuickTime/AviImporter-r7 (Intel).component
    Quicktime will open and doesn't crash anymore. Same as the Finder.
