Import files to library that are referenced

This must be something simple that I am not seeing but I imported a folder (that currently resides on my desktop) of images into Aperture. When I imported the files I inadvertantly did not realize that under "Store Files" I had left it on "In their current location."
I then made my changes to the images/composed a 50 page book that I am now finished with. I then realized that these files were still on my desktop and they were never imported into my Aperture Library for safekeeping.
Is there a way to have Aperture copy all of the files on the desktop into the library without loosing all my editing to each image as well as keep the links to my book intact?

You can relocate the master files inside the Library or somewhere else outside it. In my case I preffer to have them referenced outside the Library so they are available to other programs.
Simply select the images in Aperture's browser and go to File/Relocate Masters.

I chose to let iTunes rearrange my files and it appears to have duplicated them in my computer's drive. So now I have the same folders/files directly under my D drive (second computer hard drive) and also in the iTunes Music Folder that iTunes created. No, because with iTunes Match enabled on an iOS device traditional syncing of music via USB is disabled. All music management is done directly on the device.

You will first have to copy the high-quality audio files to the computer, add them to the iTunes library then enable iTunes Match.

Well it started happening AGAIN with my 2nd IPod. No matter what I did, it Itunes would NOT restore it!
I finally installed Itunes on my hubby's PC at work and managed to get it restored there.
Apparently, there must be some sort of compatibility issue with the windows version of Itunes and some other piece of software on my pc.
And one more important thing! I had to follow the instructions in the other thread that talks about how to correctly uninstall itunes and quicktime, in order to completely eliminate ALL traces of my "first" ipod's existence so it wouldn't demand that I restore it.
I think the software got "confused" and thought when I connected my 2nd ipod, that it was the 1st and that it still needed to be restored.
Basically, this is just POORLY written and POORLY tested software!

How to get rid of pix in my iphoto library that are not imported?

I needed to clear the memory card of my husband's camera recently, and didn't have the canon software installed on my computer. So I tried using iphoto, but it crashed because the movies are high resolution and I guess iPhoto couldn't handle it. I managed to get them transferred another way, but now every time I launch iPhoto I get a message telling me that there are images in my iPhoto library that are not imported, and asking if I want to import them. If I try to import them, iPhoto crashes again. If I say "cancel" I get the same message again next time. I tried going into the finder to get rid of them but don't know where they are. No matter what I try to throw away, I still get the same message. How to get rid of those photos?

You could also have used Image Capture in your Applications Folder.

iPhoto managed high resolution just fine. Perhaps you don't have the correct codec.
To solve you more immediate problem: go to your Pictures Folder and there you'll see your iPhoto Library Folder. Open it and inside you'll see a folder called 'Importing' or something close to that. Drag it to the desktop. Restart iPhoto. Does that help?

What's the very best way to find all tracks in your library that are not in your playlists? I only use playlists to show the tracks that i use.. unfortunately I have many extra unwanted tracks buried in my library now because I did not know you could option+delete to delete library tracks from a playlist.

How about this as an idea? Create a new top level playlist folder, call it *All Playlists*, then move all your existing folders & playlists inside this folder. Create a new top level smart playlist ( outside of *All Playlists* ) with the rules:
Playlist is Music AND
Playlist is not All Playlists
Call it *Unlisted Temp*
Create a new top level regular playlist called Unlisted, select all the tracks in *Unlisted Temp* and drag them into Unlisted. You can now delete *Unlisted Temp*, move all your folders & playlists back to their original places and delete the *All Playlists* folder.

1293 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that are not a part of this photo library.

I re-ran the the repair on a backup of my library and chose "yes" on the import of of the found pictures.
Unfortunately, the saved pictures included both original and edited images and the import did not re-assemble them into just a single entry.
For example, I have a two pictures of a portico ceiling, the original (with an ID of P1010071_2) and another (P1010071) which is the same except that iPhoto's "Enhance" Quick Fix has been applied.
Is there any way rejoin the original (P1010071_2) and fixed images(P1010071) into a single entry?

Deleting photos in the Library that are not in an Album

As the subject states, is there a way to delete all and any photos from the library that are not in an album. I now understand how to properly delete photos, but before I would drag the photos from a new roll into an album and then delete the ones I did not want from the album and they would stay in the library. It is too difficult and numerous to go back and try and figure out which photos are in albums and which are not. Thank you for your help in advance.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Well, to find them, make a smart album (File -> New Smart Album)
Album -> Is Not -> Any
That will gather them together. The select them and go option (or alt) - delete.
This will move them to the iPhoto trash.
Empty the trash.

Bridge will do the job. View > Sort > ByType. Then you can choose a group of one type and put the files in a separate folder.

I have a similar issue.
After updating Pages to 5.2, all Word export documents are 10 times the size they'd normally be.
A normal exported .DOC file that would have been under 200K, is now 1.7MB once exported. !!! ???

I am missing colors in my Adobe Pantone Plus Library that are in my physical Pantone Plus Swatch Book.

I have the most recent Illustrator downloaded and the Pantone Plus Library however I cannot find some Pantone numbers that are in my physical Pantone Plus book. One specifically is PMS Blue 2384.
What do I do?

Thanks but that is not the problem. I figured it out. You have to download Pantone Color Manager Software and use the serial number from your registered Pantone Plus book to register the software. Once you do that then you can download the extra 360 colors and then export them to the Adobe programs...
Pain in the *** but it's the only way to get the extra colors in the Pantone plus book to your adobe Pantone Plus Library.The new Library is called Pantone+ V2.

I created a new Lightroom catalog for iPhone photos. After importing files from iPhoto photos are randomly popping up and deleting other photos! Is this a virus? A bug? A corrupt catalog? How do I fix it? I just installed 5.6 and that didn't resolve it.

I updated my computer software...I don't know what else to do and I can't find any information about this online.

Geoff for a few years I used iPhoto for my iPhone files.
Now that I am not using iPhoto any longer I attempted to move my old iPhoto phone files into my Lightroom iPhone catalog.
A couple possibilities are that:
1) There was a problem with the export/import from iPhoto to Lightroom. I've been reading up on how to do it correctly...
One article said to make a copy of the master catalog in iPhoto, export it and then import it into Lightroom. This is what I did.
I read another article that said exporting as Original from iPhoto and then importing into LR also worked so I did that with another iPhone catalog from my laptop.
2) Maybe it's a file name situation? Perhaps the phone rolled over and there are old and new files with the same names.
The strange thing about that is that older photos are popping up and replacing/deleting newer ones.
I would think the newer files would replace older ones if that was the case.
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks.

Is it possible to set up a new library that accesses referenced files from an old library AND retains all my Aperture adjustments

I am moving files from one external hard drive to another, using the 'relocate originals' file command. This is very slow & tedious. Is there away to shortcut this? I was hoping to just set up a new library that would access the same files & folders on the new hard drive but this only results in preserving my original files, not all the Aperture data, the adjustments and metadata.
Is there no better way than the 'relocate originals' file command?

My shuffle was synced with laptop#1. Unfortunately, laptop#1's system became corrupted and the hard disk had to be reformatted. In the meanwhile, I would like transfer the files from my shuffle to laptop#2.
Is it possible to retrieve files bi-directionally from a shuffle? I need to get the files that are currently stored on my shuffle and only my shuffle.
