Import files with save copy to Microsoft Onedrive
Now that Microsoft is offering Office 365 with unlimited Onedrive storage, I am planning to subscribe to the service. I would like to use the Onedrive space to be my tertiary backup storage for my photo files. (I have an external 2TB hard drive as the primary backup.) I have two questions regarding this service and file backup:
1. Can anyone recommend a software package that would automatically synchronize in my computer and Onedrive? I was using Duplicati to copy files onto some Google storage I have, but that has ceased to work and I think it may be due to changes in Duplicati's software and sales model. This was not synchronization - it was a copy and backup function.
2. If an automatic synchronization is not possible, I can certainly copy all of my existing files to Onedrive - though it would take a long time. Going forward, I would like to use the "create second copy" feature of Lightroom import to put copies of new raw files out on Onedrive. Has anyone successfully tried this and could they comment on the feasibility of doing this?
On your PC add the Folder where you have your images stored. Add this folder location to your OneDrive Library. This should sync the entire folder.

Lightroom 4.1 will not import files with a backslash in the name

Issues importing file with "copy into document option".
I am running Framemaker 7.1. I need to import a .jpg image into my document. I selected File-Import-File and then selected the file and the "copy into document" option. This placed the .jpg image into my document. I saved the document and then closed it. Then I moved the .jpg image file which I imported into the document to another location. I then re-opened the document and I get the following message:
"Missing File - Looking for ../xx.jpg". I select the "Skip This File" option and then "Continue". When I scroll down through the document to where I had previously imported the .jpg image and when I get to that page, I get the following message popup, "Cannot display some imported graphics. The images will appear as gray boxes." Once I select "OK" on the popup message, the image is displayed as normal.
Could someone help explain to me how I can actually copy the image into the document without any reference to the original file pathname.
Thanks.I was able to activate the hypertext. When I click on the hypertext for the imported picture reference, the original document opens up but I don't see anything to indicate the imported reference. The bottom line is that I want to delete the imported references since I don't want the references in the document.
Somewhere buried in the framemaker document are these two imported references and I want to remove them. How do I do this?
Keep in mind that when I click on the hypertext imported reference, it switches to the original document, but I don't see anything that indicates an imported reference so there is nothing for me to delete.
Thank you. -
Importing files with same name but different extensions
Hope I will be clear enough.
Lets say that instead of sending a file from Lightroom to an external editor, I open it directly in Photoshop.
When I'm done, I save the edited photo using the same name but in a different file format : IMG_1333.cr2 > IMG_1333.psd or IMG_1333.tif, and selecting the same folder location.
Then, I come back into Lightroom and synchronise the folder.
Why is the knew version of the picture not showing up beside the original file, despite the different extension ?
I notice that the different extensions ( .psd or .tif ) are recorded in the sidecar files field in the Metadata panel.
Of course, everything works fine if the file name is modified ( or just by selecting the "copy" option in Photoshop's "save as" dialog box ). Lightroom synchronise dialog shows the new photo to import.
So, why is Lightroom not making a difference between files with the same name but different format extensions ?
Thanks for any hint :-)

I think your problem is likely that you have the option to stack the copy with the original turned on. First, right-click on one of these photos and go to the stacking menu. If Unstack is not grayed out then you have a stack -- select Unstack to reveal all copies.
To change the automatic stacking of edited copies from Photoshop, when you next choose to edit a file, in the bottom left corner of the dialog is the check box for unstacking. Clear it, and that choice should "stick" until you change it again.
Hope this helps!

Error when importing file with "
Hi,
In a text file if a field is having double apostrophe( " ), the file does not open in Import Manager. Get error as "Logon Error.... Line [x], Pos[1]". To test this,
1. Just copy paste the below 3 lines in a file
2. Open in Import manager with delimiter as pipe ( | )
3. Should get error
4. Next, edit the file, Find & Replace all " with any other character like ! & try to open the file now!
PRODUCT_TITLE_NAME|PRODUCT_ID|DESCRIPTION|BRAND_ID
ABC|142|Three unique|2637
XYZ|143|The "giraffe" is long|4315
Thanks,
KetanHi Ketan,
Even I faced the same issue with MDM7.1 while importing the "| data.
The solution is simple you have to check that open double coates are closing are not.
I fthe data contains "| is not a problem with version unless it should be properly closed.
What we did was we remove open " coates or get the data with closed "
Hope it will help you

Trying to import files with transparent backgrounds into Premier Elements 10
I am struggling to import files from Photoshop CS3 into Premier Elements 10 and preserve their transparent background. I have tried .png (8 and 24 bit), .gif and .psd files. I have tried rasterizing the type layer before "Saving for web and devices" but can't get anything to work. The imported files end up as either text on a white background (.gif) or the file imports as a black background with no type visible (.png and .psd). I have read a few forums but can't find any suggestions beyond what I have already tried. I also get the same problem if I "Save for web and devices" out of Illustrator.
Any suggestions much appreciated.
Mickkaare
You have brought up one very interesting maintaining transparency question which I feel goes more to the trigger on the
Premiere Elements Videomerge pop up than to the Photoshop CS2 Save As with or without a check mark for Maximum Compatibility
And, I find that Photoshop CS5.1 as well as CS2 involvement in this matter is the same.
I created three 720 x 480 pixels documents, each with a blue colored circle on a transparent background in
Photoshop CS2 and saved each
psd with check mark next to Maximize Compatibility
psd with no check mark next to Maximize Compatibility
png
Each of them was imported into a NTSC DV Standard Premiere Elements 11 Windows 7 64 bit project.
Each triggered the Premiere Elements 11 Videomerge pop up.
If I checked No for the program request to apply Videomerge, then all 3 results were the same, that is,
the area around the circle was transparent and the circle was not...just the way it was created in Photoshop CS2.
So, why was the Videomerge message telling me "Clip being dropped contains solid background color" when
it had transparency represented by black and did not have a solid background color?
Even more interesting was what happened if I selected Yes to the program's request to
apply Videomerge to create transparency for what it claimed to be seeing as "solid background color".
The result was the same for all three cases, that is, the inside content of the circle became transparent
and the "black background" became a "solid color".
Videomerge is not one of my preferred Premiere Elements options.
To avoid the Videomerge pop up, I would suggest placing a check mark next to the "Do not show again.",
followed by No in the Videomerge pop up. When you do, you should not be confused by the activities of the
Videomerge pop up activities and you should have no problems with the maintenance of the Photoshop
created transparency in the Premiere Elements project.

Incrementally name file with saveAs
Hello all,
I am trying to create a script that names the active file as w1.pdf, and then subsequently would name the file w2, etc.
If one were working on w9.pdf and ran the script, you guessed it..........w10.pdf
Can I use the increment operand with saveAs? All of my efforts just keep adding stuff to the file name, not incrementtally changing the file name.
Thanks in advance for any help,Hello Kent, Yes of course this can be done. But of course it has to be done from a folder level script, since the saveAs function cannot be used from a document script.
The basic technique is to acquire the file name, determine whether or not it matches the expected format, and parse out the current number. Then increment the number and generate a new file name.
For example, this code uses a regular expression to perform the task:
// Match "w" followed by one or two digits
var rgFlNm = /^w(\d{1,2})/;
if(rgFlNm.test(this.documentFileName))
var newFileName = "w" + (Number(RegExp.$1) + 1).toString();
this.saveAs(newFileName);
else
app.alert("File Name does not match expected format");
the code here displays an alert if the file name format does not match "w" followed by one or two digits. But you could have it default the file name or ask the user what they want to do.

Importing files with embedded IPTC metadata - Workaround?
I was hoping the the "metadata improvments" that Apple delivered with Aperture v.1.1 would include the ability to import legacy files with IPTC and XMP metadata embedded by Photoshop, iView, Photo Mechanic, and other similar programs.
Unless I am missing something that ability is still not a part of the Aperture program.
I really like Aperture and think Apple has got many things right in the new program. I would like to make it my primary tool for digital image management. That would require the ability to read into the Aperture Library the metadadta written by other programs.
Does anyone have a workaround for importing files that lets other programs IPTC tags be imported or connected with the files.

sometimes it depends on the path you run webserver exe.
The best i have found to overcome this kind of problems is by
using getResourceAstream() method which basically looks at classpath locations only, but still this has some problems like it should kept at the
specified classpath becoz the getResourceAsStrem() method is not static
method and it always associated with the class object and the file
accessing also should be in the same package/classpath.
by using getResourceastream you cannot look at other places (except classpaths)
and this should be used only if you looking for .properites definitions.
the Second best method is
see you have a file called "context.txt" right
before you create a file, first create a directory at the root, let say
"\tmp"
and then create a file \tmp\context.txt
and then open an output stream to it either using fileoutputstreamm...
and then write all output content to servlet/client output stream.
this will be the best becoz you are specifying the "\" the root
and this is common for all operating systems and definitely it will create at the root directory either serverroot or harddiskdrives root
so you will never missout and the exceptin will also not comes along the way
cheers..
if you get new thing , let me know
bye

Error when import file with non-english character
Hi,<br /><br />I have images file with non-english character (unicode), for example ABC<X>.png where <X> is non-english character such as japanese, chinese, etc.<br /><br />Whenever I want to import the file to After Effects (right click -> import -> file), I always encounter error:<br /><br />Finding file/dir info for the file "C:\...\ABC?.png" -- file not found (-43) (3::30)<br />Can't import file "ABC?.png": unsupported filetype or extension. (0::1)<br /><br />My PC is Windows XP Professional 2002 SP2 English.<br /><br />How to solve this problem?<br /><br />Thanks
Adjust your system language settings. Proper file name conventions require a consistent Unicode environment, so install the respective foreign language support files or switch the language system-wide. Mixing different zones/ code ranges is always a bad idea. If your system is not in Japanese, AE will always misinterpret the characters and refuse to import. If that's not feasible, simply rename the files.

Compressor crash when attempting import files with 00* in name
I produce several short video files every day and name them using a sequential five digit numerical naming convention.
I'm finding that whenever I'm near, at or shortly after crossing a 100 mark Compressor crashes when I try and import single files with the following filenames (these are the most recent examples):
20993
21000
21001
21005
The only way to import these problematic files is to select the file before, or after, then Command click on the filename causing the crash. Click Open to import both into the batch, and then click on the file I first clicked on and hit Delete to remove it from the batch, leaving the file with the problematic name.
For Example. I want to import 21005 into Compressor for processing, but every time I try and import it Compressor crashes. So I re-launch Compressor, click the little Q button and click on 21004, then press Command and click on 21005. Click Open, import window goes away to reveal the Batch window. Click on 21004, press Delete button on keyboard leaving me with the file that was causing the crash.
FWIW apart from the file duration/size, there's no difference between these files. In fact I can change the names and the files that used to import fine now crash Compressor when attempt to import with any of the filenames above.
Here's the info behind two of the problem files and also that of the two adjacent files that import fine:
(all files: Dimension: 720 x 480. Codecs: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC. Channel Count: 2. Kind: Final Cut Pro Movie File. No color labels.

File Size: 394,475,469 bytes
Duration: 01'44
21000 (Compressor Crasher):
File Size: 324,052,925 bytes
Duration: 01'26
21001 (Compressor Crasher):
File Size: 339.730.909 bytes
Duration: 01'30
21002 (Imports Fine):

Mac OS X 10.4.8Hello,
Thanks for the replies/info.
Yes the Panther and Jaguar install disks are retail versions, not specific machine versions. And the Jaguar ones worked for the Powerbook before.
The Powerbook I have is the Firewire 500mhz one, Pismo I think it's called. The hard drive is a 60GB one. I didn't have to partition it before.
Reviewing all the above, it would appear that the problem is me not being able to use an internal, built in CD/DVD drive to install from this time? The only other thing it could be I think is the crash I recently had has had some bad effect -- but that's unlikely right? So, I need to get a new DVD drive? Or is there any other way to get the OS onto the Powerbook without getting another internal DVD/CD drive? Is there anyway to install onto the PB from another machine maybe?
Does that sound right?: not being able to use internal DVD/CD drive is the source of my current problem?
Thanks. -
Importing Files with Existing Sidecar files
Hi,
I've recently needed to delete all Lightroom database files, and essentially start from scratch again. Now all my images already had sidecars, but upon importing, all the information was overwritten, or lost, so any editing I had done was also gone. Have I done something terribly wrong to get this result?
Also, how do I migrate edited images from the laptop to the desktop and keep any changes made? I used to just sync specific directories, but info seems to get lost when it's imported into my other copy of LR...
Sorry if this is really basic stuff, but I can't go trawling around every help file to find out...The default was just like now. You had to request write or autowrite to XMP in the Puplic Betas.

When I import files in Elements 6, 5 strrs are automatically generated. How do I make the import no stars?
I think those are just the placeholders for ratings. Click the star for the number of stars you want to assign, like the third star from the left for three stars, and see if those empty stars don't fill in.

Importing files with sequence and leading 0's
I can not figure out how to import files and rename them so they have leading zeros. I can do this in Adobe bridge
image.001, image.011 instead of image.1 image.11
I do a lot of slide shows in Premiere pro and in order to sort the files within the BIN, i need leading zeros.
ThanksWhen you do a rename, there's a drop down box for how you want to rename your files. At the bottom of that box is the word "edit". Use that.
