Import FLV Files--Perian

I keep receiving errors when I try to import flv files into iTunes. Is there any possible way to actually import these.
If no...I am curious as to how I imported one...just one!?!?! I downloaded using TubeTV. I don't know if this makes a difference, but when I downloaded a few from Safari, they would not import.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like you're on an interesting path to discovery
Some web browsers do different things with the same download operations behind the scenes. For example, downloading .bin images (from microsoft.com/mac, for example) with OmniWeb results in .bin images being saved to the default download folder, while using Safari results in .dmg files directly useable by OS X. Perhaps the TubeTV application you mention does some similar work to change the format of Flash Video files without doing any actual video recompression.
My wildest/best guess at this point is that perhaps, since Flash Video is indeed capable of using QuickTime-compatible H.264 video and AAC audio, certain files may be inherently playable by QuickTime and other QuickTime-based applications, regardless of the presense of the .flv file extension. If this were true, it would at least partially explain why certain (but not all) Flash Video files would open with iTunes. Again, this is just wild guess, and I personally just use VLC to play these files.

  • 2 out of 6 imported flv files pausing on frame 1 when published

    Hi,
I have six Scenes, each scene has an imported FLV file.
I have a 6 button menu that works fine when clicking from one scene to the other.
The problem is is that videos 1 to 4 play fine when I switch to the scene, but FLV files 5 and 6 just stay paused at frame 1.
If I test the Scene using Ctrl+ALT+Enter, the Scenes work fine.
But Only if I either hit Ctrl+Enter to render the whole project, or if I publish the file, do the FLV files pause on frame 1.
All 6 videos are coded exactly the same way.
    Any suggestions please?

I'm wondering now if it some sort of memory thing or SWF limitation thing
The Scenes are Lessons 1 to 6
If I publish the SWF, then Lessons 1 - 4 play fine, 5 and 6 just sit at their frame 1 as if paused.
    If I move the scenes around to say: Lessons, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 4
    then 5, 6, 1 and2 play but now 3 and 4 are paused.
so it seems it affects the last 2 of the six scenes.
any one got any idea on why this might be happening?

  • How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?

How do I import .flv files to Adobe Premiere 12?
    thanks,

    XTimeTravelers
If the details are as stated in your latest post, there are no inconsistencies here between us. Misunderstandings, probably.
Photoshop Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 11 are standalone programs. Each comes with the same (but its own) Elements Organizer 11 and each with its own Editor section. When a given version (Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 for example) is on the same computer, that version shares the same Elements Organizer catalog. All that being said....
All you are saying is that you can import a .flv file into the Elements Organizer 11 that came with Photoshop Elements 11.
    a. Photoshop Elements 11 is a photo editor and will not support video (flv or otherwise). We agree on that.
    b. Elements Organizer 11 that comes with Photoshop Elements 11 does support the import of .flv files there for organizational purposes. And, you should be able to playback the .flv file in the Elements Organizer 11 (you may need VLC player, not sure on that requirement...but it is possible). You can do the same for Elements Organizer 12.
All we are saying is the you cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor, be it for Premiere Elements Editor 11 or 12. And, you have not said that you have. All you are talking about is your experiences in the Elements Organizer 11 which should be the same for the Elements Organizer 12.
So, we are in agreement on everything.
    Summary:
You cannot import a .flv file into the Photoshop Elements Editor (any version) because it is a photo editor. You never claimed you did.
You cannot import a .flv file into the Premiere Elements Editor (any version) even though it is a video editor. This particular video editor (11 or 12) does not support .flv.
The Elements Organizer of these programs is another story where it is possible to import the .flv for organizational purposes and even playback.
Does that make it all come together for you?
Please review the above and then let me know if I am out of sync on what you wrote and how I have interpreted it.
    Thanks.

  • Problem playing an imported FLV file

I have Captivate 3. Tried to import an FLV file into a project.  Used FLV MetaData Injector to insure metadata was inserted.  In edit mode I can see the FLV object but when I preview the slide I just get a blank screen. Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi there
I'm wondering if maybe it's related to the Flash Player version on your PC.
See if the links below help.
Click here to read a thread where I believe one of the Adobe Captivate team (Shameer) sheds a bit of light on the issue.

Version 9 should allow things to work okay with Captivate 3.

  • How to see an imported FLV file on the timeline

I have a feeling this is a really basic question, but I am pretty new to Flash. I've imported an FLV file. This file is a slideshow of photographs with a Ken Burns effect already applied. I was hoping that I would be able to see the video frames on a timeline. What I then want to be able to do is jump to different frames (approximately where the photo changes) as a result of clicking buttons.
I thought this would be a good project to do in Flash as a way to learning.
    Lots of help needed
    Thanks,

If you imported it, embedded it as an MC, you should be able to scrub the timeline and see the video change - assuming your timline is the length of the video. Double check the frame rate of your video and the frame rate on your timeline for an accurate match.
Try importing to a fresh flash file too, to make sure nothing in your other flash file is hindering your progress.

  • Premiere Pro CC wont open or import .flv files

I just upgraded from windows 7 to 8.1.   Clean install.  Downloaded Premiere Pro CC, AE CC and a few others.   I cannot import or use .flv files in premiere pro.  It says file type is not supported.  Even if I export from AE as a flv premiere pro wont open it.  All my past projects with flv files show that media as off line.   Please help.   FLV always worked before.

Support for importing Flash content was removed in the latest patch. Please see this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/premiere-pro-cannot-import-flv.html
If you search for "FLV 7.1," you'll find several threads on this topic. For example: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5818286#5818286

  • How to open flv files in flash

I want to open flv file in flash and edit. I couldnot import flv file in flash. please guide me.

FLV is FLash Video.  You will want to use a program such as After Effects or Premiere Pro to edit video, not Flash Professional.

  • Importing flash files (with sound!) can it be done?

    Hi!
I sucessfully importing a flash file but im not sure if the sound has imported with it, does anyone know if I can import a flash file with sounds or do I have to import the sound seperatly?
    Helen

    Helen,
After Effects can import .SWF files but unfortunately it does not recognize the audio in a .SWF file.
If it helps, AE can import .FLV files and it WILL recognize the audio in them.

  • FMS not generating flv files

livemedia developed a multimedia system where users can
record voice and video using their MIC and/or WEBCAM.
We are using that FMS feature where we can listen/watch audio
and video which were supposed to be recorded at server side.
But after we confirm that recording and request the upload of
the file at the server (which means to record the resulting flv
file at the FLV server), seems that the recoridng process get lost,
since we cannot find the flv file at the especified folder. In
other words, we can not reproduce the podcast/videocast, since the
    flv file is not there.
    Can anybody help us?
    [email protected]

    Hi Tool55,
Sorry, FLV is no longer a supported format for import. The workaround is to transcode in Media Encoder to a supported format. After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder still support the import of FLV files. FLV file export is still available within Adobe Premiere Pro.
Here's the knowledge base document: Can't import FLV files

  • Imported FLV Publish Compression Settings?

I have a 5.2 meg FLV video a client has sent me. They want a
getURL script at the end of the clip so the Web browser goes to a
Web page after the clip is finished playing. To do this, I imported
the FLV into a Flash FLA document as "Embed video in SWF and play
    in timeline".
When I export this, the SWF is 5.2 megs, like the imported
FLV. The JPEG Publish Settings don't affect that.
Is there a way to compress imported FLV files?
    Thanks!

The FLV file is already compressed but need not be placed in
    the FLV file
creating the large file size. Rather, play the FLV as an
    external source.
Done this way, the compiled SWF file can be kept quite small.

  • How do i get flv files in premiere elements

how can i get the premiere elements to use flv. files?

    verdanexi
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system it is running?
In the absence of that information, the following is a generalized no can do answer.
Although files with flv file extensions can be exported from Premiere Elements, you cannot import flv files into Premiere Elements.
There used to be a time when earlier versions could use a Moyea plug-in to force Premiere Elements to accept flv files.
    how to edit .flv files
Your flv are going to have to be converted into another format before import into Premiere Elements if you want to use Premiere Elements as your video editor.

The link is provided for informational rather than promotional reason. I have not used it, but I have seen reports that it is free and works well for flv to avi.

  • CC and FLV files

    Hi -
Help please - I have tried a bunch pf workarounds and nothing
seems to work.....I am doing a soft skill course in captiavte. I am
importing flv files that contain avatars, video and audio. Well,
since the audio is embedded in the flv file - I am obviously having
a problem with adding cc. Any workarounds?

    quote:
I am obviously having a problem with adding cc. Any
    workarounds?
Nope, not really. All you can do is approximate it,
and it may be difficult to get timing right (or not).
The first issue you will face is that Captivate "grays out"
the CC button if there is no audio on the slide. The workaround for
that is to create a tiny audio file that contains an inaudible
waveform. You won't be able to hear it, but it will fool Captivate
    into accepting your closed captioning.
As to the timing issues with having your closed captioning
and the FLV audio synchronized, that is going to have to be a trial
and error process. Best of luck to you!! Larry

  • Encoding a FLV file to MP4

I am relatively new to Adobe and all of its products, and this is my first exposure to Media Encoder CS5.
Quite simply I would like to encode a FLV file to MP4. When I drag the FLV file into AME, it tells me "The source compression type is not supported."
Just curious how to resolve this or whether I am doing something incorrect. I use a Mac Laptop running OS X 5.
    Thanks

Colin is right. There's a bit more information about what what kind of FLV files AME CS5 can import here. The main point is that AME CS5 and later can only import FLV files that conatin video encoded with the On2 VP6 codec.

  • Creating a Movie Symbol with Various FLV files

I am new to using video inside of Flash CS3. I have a series
of video clips that I want to play in succession. So, I created a
movie clip symbol which, byitself, plays just fine.
What I want to accomplish is a starting frame with some
words, movie clip and then an ending frame with logo.
When I try to play the movie, the words show up fine, but the
movie clip doesn't play...what happens is the first frame shows up
and then loops back to the first frame with the words....and even
though I have looping turned off, it keeps doing it (acting like it
    is looping).
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to implement Actionscript?
    HELP!
    Thanks so much!

I don't think your explanation is very clear. Can you either
be more specific or include a sample fla file? I mean, there are
questions as to are you importing flv files or embedding them, how
your time line is set up, etc.

The Moyea FLV Plugin to force Premiere Elements to import flv files is a popular question from time to time.
I know from personal experience that it does work for Premiere Elements 4, 7, and 8.0/8.0.1.
I have just downloaded the Moyea FLV Plugin from the site whose link I had previously posted in your thread in order to verify that it still works with 8.0/8.0.1 and flv importing. It still does. This was verified with a flv file, the Moyea FLV plugin, and Premiere Elements 4, 7, and 8.0/8.0.1.
    Some tips, if necessary,
Once the plugin is installed, I found no desktop icon for it.
What happened is this...You open your Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 project, you import your flv file with Get Media/Files and Folders.
At that point, you get a Moyea Software pop up with Order or Try. I hit Try.
At that point, the flv is imported, but look for it in "Project" when the Organize (blue) header is the selected. It did not pop up in the Organize/Media sector.
I have yet to remember or try versions later than 8.0/8.0.1 with this plugin. My recollection is that the plugin does not work with these later versions of Premiere Elements.
    More later if necessary.
