I want to import some garage band tunes I have made into logic but I keep getting DAMAGED SONG OR NOT LOGIC EXPRESS SONG SEARCH FOR FRAGMENTS
I search and then logic it says NOT LOGIC EXPRESS SONG and opens on an empty arrange page.
However if I open up a garageband demo song it has no problem and opens fine
Any thoughts there Logic gurus ?

Do the songs work in Garageband?
Even if they do it might be worth it to copy and paste all the info from the old GB project to a new GB project, use the Garageband "Save as Archive" method, then open with Logic. Just in case it is a file corruption that GB can handle but Logic can't.
It might be easier to just copy and paste from the GB project to a Logic project, though i've never tried that..
How are you trying to open them? And what version of Logic and GB are you using?

What's the best way to import from ProTools to Logic 7.2.3?

Consolidate the audio tracks (in protools) from bar 1 to the end. Then export the resulting files. Save the PT session as a midi file. Import the MIDI file into logic. Then drag the consolidated audio files into Logic.

Stuttering Strings when I import to Logic X from Garage Band

Help, I can't get my IOS Garageband arrangements to playback smoothly in LogicX (or Garageband for OSX for that matter). The problem occurs on any song I create with the strings smart instrument on either the iPad or iPhone. The other instruments all work fine. But the strings are all stuttery and intermittent, especially when I use the legato gesture (finger sliding up and down). FYI I can import the songs into Logic 9 with no problem.
I have tried to update Logic X and Garageband with all the latest downloadable content, but nothing has fixed the problem. I am up to date on released updates.
Any ideas?

Sharing with iTunes is OK, but it is likely to produce a file in MP3 or AAC, which can cause problems. You can create an AIFF version of an MP3 file in iTunes and use that.
To create an AIFF version, go to iTunes/Preferences and click the General Tab. Click the Import Settings button. Choose Import Using: AIFF Encoder. Then choose your track, and click FILE/CREATE AIFF Version. Use this in FCPX. Be sure to go back into iTunes Preferences and set the import options back to where you had it, so the next time you rip an CD it does not make an AIFF.

Well, all I can tell you is that if your file is an m4a with chapter markers, those markers having suitably sized images attached, and you drag it into the Music area of iTunes (so that it appears as a song) in List view, when you play it and then command-click on the small image in the header (next to the progress bar) you should see your embedded images.
If this isn't happening the best place to ask would be in the GarageBand forum: my own experience of GB is rather out of date and in any case I've never used it for podcasting.

When I export a AAF file from Protools 9 and Import the file into Logic ProX the drum track is out of sync. I created the drum loop using NI Maschine. Has anyone else seem this??

When I export an AAF file/project from Protools 9 using an external drive and import the AAF into Logice Pro X the drum track does not play correctly. It is out of sync with the rest of the track. I created the drum loop as a plugin using Native Instruments Maschine. Has anyone else had this problem?? Also how would I go about exporting the midi tracks from the Protools session. The midi track does not show when the file is imported to Logic Pro X. The midi data should export with the AAF file correct??

Try:
Share > Send Song to iTunes. In the dialog, turn OFF compress. That will create an .aiff version of your GB project.
Alternately, you can Share to iTunes. When iTunes opens, right click on the selection and select Create AIFF version.
When iTunes opens, right click on the selection and select Show In Finder -> drag it out to a more convenient location (or option-click-drag to make a duplicate in the new location you drag to.)
Import that file into FCPX.

Can't import ringtone from Garage band 6.0.5 to iTunes 11.0.4

On my Mac I can't import ringtone from Garage band 6.0.5 to iTunes 11.0.4. I can create the ringtone but when I share it vanishes instead of going into the Tones like it used to do.

Is that, how far you get?
You select, "New Project" and select a "Podcast" project template? And then you get that error message? Or do you see the File Choser dialogue, but get the error message, when you try to save the project?
That can either mean, that the "Podcast" project template is not readable, or that you cannot write to the GarageBand folder in your home folder.
Check the System Library, if the Podcast template is properly installed:
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Templates/Projects/
Look into the folder "Library", directly on your MacintoshHD, then "Application Support", "GarageBand", "Templates" for 08. Podcast.band.
If it is not there, then your GarageBand installation is incomplete and you need to reinstall it. If the file is there, check the permissions. Can you open the file 8. Podcast.band, if you copy it to your Desktop and double click it, to open it in GarageBand?

Open Logic X. Go to the help menu and select "logic pro help." Type garageband into the search bar. You will have one result to choose from.

Using Garage Band 2.0.2 (50) to edit converted Mp3s imported from iTunes

Following an exhaustive search of the archives, I must appeal to the greater wisdom of others (risking both your contempt and equally troublesome unresponsiveness) in order to resolve the dilemma experienced while attempting to use GB to make ringtones from an Mp3.
My apologies for not being able to figure this out on my own, or being able to glean same from the GB, iBook or general archives nor the 'manual.' The answers were not there...
Though there has been much futzing, I have been unable to record a new track from music imported from (but not purchased through) iTunes. Only accomplished is a recording of that which the built-in mic allows (i.e. undesired extraneous noise). There is no option to change sound input (from Built-in) in System Preferences or GB.
So, Great Apple Sages, can the iBook record, via GB, from the master track internally?
If yes, steps to do so?
If no, useful (specific) suggestions?...

IMovie HD won't import from Sony HDR-HC1

iMovie HD 5.0.2 (111) on my G5 desktop controls, but won't import from, my new little Sony HDR-HC1 1080i DV camcorder. Same was the case with my 12" 1 GHz PowerBook until, at the advice of a Manhattan Beach Genius Bar tech, I did an archive reinstall of 10.4 and a reinstall of iMovie HD on both my G5 PowerMac and G4 PowerBook and then downloaded all the updates. Now my PowerBook works, but my PowerMac still won't import. On an empty second HD in my PowerMac I installed OS 10.4 and iMovie HD ONLY (to create as sterile as possible of an environment), made the 2nd HD my startup drive, and still iMovie HD on my PowerMac will not import from this camera (although it will from an older Sony VX-1000 regular def camcorder).
Does anybody have any solutions, or any idea why iMovie HD now imports on my PowerBook but after the same makeover still won't on my PowerMac?
Per earlier posts, I tried playing some piano notes in Garage Band, trashing the iMovie preference files, and reinstalling QuickTime (the tech had heard QT 7.0.3 could be at fault from becoming corrupted in certain updating combinations), all to no avail.

I have had import/capture problems using FW drives with FCE/iMovie5 and my 2gig iMac. My canon GL2 works fine but only when no other FW devices are connected to the FW port I use the computers internal drive to capture. If your using the G5's internal SATA drives this (below) may not apply.

Import from Designer crashes with IMAGE data type

I'd like to report an issue with Data Modeler while importing from Oracle Designer. If you consider this a bug, please let me know if I need to do anything else to request a fix for it.
I've used the import > Oracle Designer Model tool to import an application model. The import runs fine for a while, then crashes with a message "There are errors in import - check log file".
The application to be imported has 509 domains, 963 entities to import.
The summary info displayed after the import (when I close the error message pop up) is:

I see the issue with the IMAGE data type in the log. The model to be imported does have domains and entities using this data type. The domain actually did get imported, but it shows as "Unknown" logical type, even though there is an Image type available in the Data Modeler type list. None of the entities using IMAGE got imported.
Please let me know if you can provide a fix or workaround for this (other than changing the format in Designer).

Hello Beatriz,
definitely this is a bug. The problem with entities is not IMAGE data type it's supported there (it's overlooked for domains). The problem is volume information - Initial, Maximum, Average, Growth rate. No workaround for that.
Domain can be changed manually if it's just one affected.

How do I get a voice over from garage band into Final cut x? Sorry if this is a newbie question. I have been editing in final Cut express on my MacBook Pro and just jumped to a new iMac and Final Cut ProX. Trying to record my own voice on a Yeti mic and import it as narration for a video. Thought I could simply import media but X has it greyed out.

Final cut pro x import music garage band

I can't import music from garage band.

I guess I didn't export FROM garage band. I didn't see a way to do that.
but i did figure out what i was doing wrong. i was trying to import from the Import media from top left edit drop down menu - instead of clicking the music icon in the bar on lower right.
also, i was trying to drag it into the media bar instead of the time line.
