Import from H/D and Suffix issues

I have imported a friends photos from his hard drive into LIghtroom 5 and all is good. One issue however is that MANY files have a double suffix, ie P100016.JPG.jpg or IMG-104.PSD.JPG. I haven;t the slightest idea how he did that but wonder about advice to fix. Also, a folder in his Photos is called Adobe Bridge Cache and it contains thousands of photos when viewed from Lightroom, yet that same folder when viewed from Bridge, says nothing to display. All are also visible when viewed through Explorer. I have a mess on my hands and am unsure how to clean it up.

In general, you wouldn't want a Cache folder to be imported into Lightroom, so if I were you, I would simply delete the photos in this folder from Lightroom (but do not delete from the hard disk)
With regards to the files with double suffixes, if everything is working properly, I would leave it alone. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

Want to import from pictures file and wont let me

I am so so frustrated. I have so many problems using imovie.
I have a mac book pro latest update and leopard.
I don't import my pictures into aperture or iphoto because I can't find the photos after wards. They are imbedded into the program. So I always download into Bridge. I love bridge and photoshop. I don't use aperture to edit. I want more control. So I go to use imovie and it wont let me import from my pictures file. So i finally break down and import into aperture and now all the pictures are split up into a file each. WHYWHYWHY.? Why would it put a picture in each file. I have the file and then 78 subfiles with 1 picture each!!!!! That is so irritating. I tried to download from a camera archive and it didn't work either. This is why i don't use imovie hardly ever. It is just too difficult to get the pictures inthere and if i do put them in i can't find them on the hard drive.

no, it is quite easy - you make it difficult.
and a Computer/program is much faster searching and finding files than you.
I like the metaphor:
why naming the drawer, you put in files manually, instead of letting a machine find it for you? I can find a well-indexed/'tagged' pic-file much faster with iPhoto than any manual search ".. was it Sept/08 or Oct/08? Was it 'Vacations/Summers/Islands/Trees' or 'Backgrounds/Nature/Woods/' .. ? " ... tagged-fotos can re-arranged in split-seconds into new folders, new structures, new systems (aka Playlists, Albums, Events..) .. 'hardwired' folder-structures not.

Any way to import from another drive and leave clips in place?

Is there any way to import from other drives where you can leave your media in place?
Whenever I've imported clips from another drive I had to copy them to the library, while clips on the same drive as the library I could leave in place. Besides getting a bit tired of FCP treating like a kid with Alzheimer's, what would one do, say, when a drive gets full? I could see big projects needing more than a single drive.

LIke Russ said, the copy of the entire folder structure is similar to creating a camera archive. This copy or archive is treated just as if it were a camera card - in particular, "leave in place" is not available, and you have the option go import just parts of clips if you want.
so technicay even though they reside in a hard drive this is like importing from camera, as opposed to "import from file".
I Will try to describe how I handle my media. I hope this will help clarify things a bit. I am not saying thus is the way to do things, but it is my way.
I keep archives of the camera cards, which I then erase and reuse.
I import clips from my camera archives which I store as external media (copying to a folder of my choosing instead of into the library). These movie files, plus other files that I get from other sources, can be later imported and used in other libraries using "leave in place".
And all of this of course needs to be regularly backed up.

Importing from iPhoto 7 and videos

I have an existing iPhoto library that has 27 events with approximately 1,500 photos and 20 videos. If I were to use the import function in Aperture during the splash screen what will happen with these videos in iPhoto? Will they be skipped over? Should I remove the videos from iPhoto first? Are the videos in my iPhoto library and then trying to import that library into Aperture "bad" for Aperture in any way?

Unfortunately that's not a crash log and I'm afraid I can't help interpret that.
Best to tell us what you're trying to do, including a description of the Easy Share software. Is this a plug-in? Has it been updated for 10.6? How are you exporting "to it"? I can't think of anywhere iPhoto exports to apart from the Finder and the named services: Flickr, Facebook etc. and iDVD.

IPhoto library - Events - pics imported from camera, scanner and internet - it doesn't seem to matter - for a while they show OK but then when I go into the event and start scrolling some--but not all--pics disappear w/ ? small and expanded.

iPhoto Library - events - pics imported to library from camera, scanner and internet. Some disappear--sometimes when scrolling and other times on their own. Some disappear when in general event and some when I try to expand the picture. If when expanding the small pic remains. It's really annoying.

Are you running a "referenced" or "managed" library?
Give this a try:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 - select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

Photos that were placed on an iPhone by using iTunes to sync them from a computer are deleted by syncing again. If you want to delete all previously synced photos from the phone, remove the checkmark in front of "Sync Photos From" on the Photos page of iTunes; if you want to remove only some, change the selection of folders/albums on that page. Each time you sync with iTunes it sets the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings in iTunes.

Import from dsv files and export to csv files

how can I create a project in NetBeans which does:
1- import a .dsv (Delimiter-Separated Values) file content and save it to array
- the values in this format separated by fixed commas
example
"AIG" "Insurance" "64.91" "25/11/06"
2- export into .csv file (Comma Separated Value)
-the values in this format separated by commas
example:
AIG,Insurance,64.91,25/11/06

Well, you need to learn Java so you can read files, divide the data by the delimiters, and then write it out as a csv file.
Can't really give better instructions than that...maybe start by reading the basic tutorials?
We don't give out full program code here so you'll need to ask more precise questions. Such as what is it that you're having problems with.

ALV OOps report- getting data from two tables and adding issue

This is sales employee performance report.
I need to select all the fields from two tables based on user input ie VKorg, sales employee .
There is one field callled " Net sales"in both the tables.
Based on sales employee number, i need to add that net sales which i get from two tables.
I need to generate single report.
Can you give some inputs reg. the select query.
My idea is select all the data from both tables using join statement.

Importing from AECS5 to AECS4: Color issues:

Hello,
I have a logo created in vector graphics in AICS5.
The RGB value of the blue I am using in AI is 0079c1.
However, when I import the .AI file into AECS4, the blue turns into 095AA5.
I tried to adjust the color management in AE but no luck. What steps should I take to assure the color does not change between AI and AE?
I searched in help and found this link:

Thanks to a friend, I fixed it.
I had to convert the AI logo to RGB and then it worked and used color management with RGB in AE.

Data combining from two files and weired issue in FIM 2010

Experts,
Following is the scenrio:-
User File
empid:firstname:lastname:deptnumber
DeptFile
deptnumber:departmentname:companyname:
Finally
Object type 'person' in metaverse and fim service should have all attribute:
Object Type - Person
Attributes - empid,firstname,lastname,deptnumber,depatmentname,companyname
To implement this:-
I created Inbound rule for User File. Relation ship criteria as accountname=empid and selected 'create resource in FIM'
Again created Inbound rule for DeptFile. Relationship criteria as deptnumber=deptnumber and not selected 'create resource in FIM'.
Well the Inbound rule for User File is working fine but Inbound rule for DeptFile is not updating depatmentname and companyname in 'Person' object.
Also intemittently I see following error:-
The synchronization rules have changed.
In order to apply this change to all imported objects, you must run full synchronization or full import and full synchronization.
Do you want to continue with the selected run profile?
Any Ideas where I am going wrong?

If you don't want to write code in FIM, perhaps you could combine the files using powershell before importing it to FIM, that way you only need one MA.

I don't think anybody is going to answer the question at this point... but WHAT are you supposed to do when the current version of AE informs you that it can't convert the file and you should "use an older version of AE and resave" to do it?? 1, I don't have the older version, those files were created almost a decade ago, and 2, what good would it do to "resave" it with the SAME older version??

If you are looking for MP3s, I don't know why you've been shopping at the iTunes Store at all. They do not sell songs in MP3 format, only AAC.
Why not look at other online music download retailers such as Amazon MP3 or Google Play who sell MP3 music.

How do I find images in LR 2.4 (imported from CS4 Bridge) that have color labels already assigned In CS4 Bridge? I have set both Bridge and LR color labels text to match (eg Green for green, etc).

How do you find images in LR 2.4 that have been imported from CS4 Bridge and have been assigned a color label in Bridge? I have set both LR 2.4 and my CS4 Bridge to match the text for each color to be the same (eg. Green for green, etc), and the filter search in LR 2.4 shows that a label has been assigned, but I am unable to identify and locate the specific images in LR 2.4 that have had a color label assigned from CS4 Bridge. I have tried to search via attribute, metadata, text, etc...Is it necessary to re-assign color labels all over again, image by image, in LR 2.4, or is there a way to automatically have the color labels assigned in CS4 Bridge be assigned and searchable to the images after they have been imported into the LR 2.4 catalogue from the Bridge program?

I closed both programs and re-imported photos and re-tried the action of having LR read the XMP metadata from the CS4 files, and it seems to work now just fine...don't know why now and not before, but thanks much. Is there a way to have LR do this automatically upon import of images from CS4? I tried to do this with an import metadata preset, but no luck. It seems as if I can only do this once the images have already been imported into LR, and then to have to have LR read the metadata from the CS4 Bridge files. thanks gain.

Generating a PDF from a OTF (imported from CLOSE_FORM) and send it by mail.

I have a problem.
I'll try to explain it toy you.
I have a SapScript that the user has the option to send it to the printer or have a Print Preview. I need to send it by mail in PDF format.
If the user select PRINT, a spool id is created, I can get the OTF, generate the PDF and send it by mail. Everything OK with that.
The problem is if the user select PRINT PREVIEW I don't get a spool id. So, what I did is to get the OTF from the CLOSE_FORM MF and generate de PDF from there. I tried several FM to generate the PDF but for sure I'm doing something wrong, because or the PDF is corrupted or I have a problem with the parameters in the SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1 FM.
So, what I need it: Generate a PDF from a OTF imported from CLOSE_FORM FM and send it by mail.
Examples or the FM I can use are welcome.
I tried to do search here, but I couldn't find anything that may help me..
So, please... Show me the light!!!
