Import from Windows Outlook 2000 to Entourage 2004

Just bought the G5 and I'm trying to migrate from Outlook 2000 to Entourage.
My Outlook .pst file is ~212Mbyte. I have tried exporting it as a .pst file but Entourage does not recognize the import file type.
I have read through a prior thread titled "importing to mail from Outlook 2000 PC" that directs me to use Thunderbird on the PC and Eudora Mailbox cleaner on the iMac - but I looks like the topic was related to iMail and not Entourage.
Can anyone who has gone through this give me some clear steps and links? Note I am running Outlook 2000 and not Outlook express on the old dell. I have seen some directions to push all my old email to an exchange server as a 3rd party, but this seems excessive. I have a 10G external hard drive so moving files between PC and iMac is not a problem.
thanks

Answered my own question.
Bought the software package Outlook2Mac from Little Machines for $10 after seeing it mentioned in a few threads.
Was able to move Mail, Contacts and Calender to iMac
all the mail messages were market as unread, and I had to choose between work and home for the contact addresses, but it got the job done.

  • What apple store app would be used to read emails on mac that were downloaded to a thumb drive from windows (outlook).

What apple store App would be used to read email on the mac that was downloaded to a thumb drive from windows outlook.
Recently purchased a Mac and data transfer for e-mails only showed the email preview but does not open up the body of the email or attachments.  So I down loaded my inbox, and folders to a thumb drive.  this will open correctly on the window pc but the mac is looking for the approriate app to read this data.
Could the Apple store remove down loaded emails and then reload from the thumb drive?

    EL-Benjo,
Please be sure to read the Important Note at the bottom of the page of the link I provided.
    Important Note
When you install OS X Lion using the USB thumb drive, you will not be able to reinstall OS X Lion from Lion Recovery. You will need to use the USB thumb drive to reinstall OS X Lion.

New imac, emails imported from Windows.  Emails to delete goiing back to 2008 but no matter what I do to delete them, they are still there.  How do I get rid of the ones that are no longer wanted.

Assuming you are using Mail, delete them in mail and then empty the Mail's trash. Also check Mail - Preference - Accounts - Mailbox Behaviors - Trash setting

  • Migrating an Oracle Forms 4.5 application from Windows Server 2000 to 2003

We are upgrading a number of servers from Windows Server 2000 to Windows Server 2003 (Standard Edition, R2). Can we re-install Forms 4.5 on 2003 and what is involved. If not, what can we do.
    Kind regards,
    Malcolm

Forms 4.5 has been desupported way before Windows 2003 was ever available. So, you can be sure that Forms 4.5 is not supported on Windows 2003. You could give it a try, but you could very well run into problems.

  • How transfer email folders from windows outlook to mac outlook

I have already gotten the emails moved from the Dell Laptop running Windows to the iMac and have them in Outlook on the iMac. What I am needing to know is how do I get the folders from Windows Outlook to Mac Outlook so everything will be organized on the iMac like it was on the Dell Laptop.

    Hi Dmzimmerman1,
What program are you using for email? The answer will vary based on the program. Also, are you referred to archived email folders or is the email account configured for IMAP?

  • Importing contacts from windows outlook xp into leopard contacts

I am a PC freak, 25 years experience, that now is turning total MAC, have on mac pro, one all new iMac 20" and one macbook g4.
major item holding back from transition was the inability to find a way to transport several thousand customer info, stored in outlook, using Categories as vital selecting criteria.
for some reason ??? Entourage will not import, succfully, this information from outlook. after much ado I have finally come up with a working solution.
I will only do the transiotion once, but maybe others can benefit from my findings (when I browse the forums, I spot lots of frustrated users sitting in similar situations)
    So here it is:
the ONLY way (that works)to transport contact from outlook is to
    open one contact
    save as vCard
send as attachment in mail or put on USB stick
    +
    in leopard
    open mail /USB stick
save vCard to folder on mac
in adressbook import vCard from (that folder)
    and repeat...
Now i had these thousands contacts so I found a utility for windows (Mouse and Key recorder 6.3 at www.kratronic.com, free trial for 30 days) that, after some trimmings did the "clicking" for me, storing the generated vCards in appropiate folders (some 400 at a time, for safety)
I emailed these to my .mac mail, and they arrived well. Put them into folders on the desktop and, from adressbook (I use Danish Leopard so not totally sure of english description) I choose Import vCard.
Now comes the distress point not vCards all were imported....
Only a bleak message that not all vCards were imported not the reason!
after several trials I found out that even the content in adressbook were shoving say 437 items, and I had offered say 950 items for import, I got the full quantity shown if i simply sorted the adressbook (first name or last name first....)
    then
behold all items were in the adressbook.
I dont have to worry about Entourage, Its synced with the adressbook in Leopard, Grin grin. so no need as I thought to import into Entourage.
this last feature seems not to be used / known when looking in forums, so here it is for your use.

I have tried every way I know to transfer my Windows 7 Live email contacts to my new BlackBerry Storm 9550 and nothing seems to work.  Are they compatible?  And if so, how can this be done?  Does the BlackBerry record addresses and other information about contacts as well as phone numbers?
    Hi,
Probably the easiest way to sync contact information would be by first exporting your contact list from Windows 7 into a vcard file or an excel type file such as a .csv file.  Then, by using Blackberry Desktop Manager, import that file and load the contacts onto your device.  Personally, I spent a few dollars and bought a program called Data Pilot from Susteen. Data Pilot works with all sorts of phones and devices allowing you to easily transfer contacts from one device to another.  I use it to regularly backup my Tour's contact list.  It was worth the money to buy that program because it saves all of the fields in the phone such as addresses, email addresses, etc.  Anyways, let me know if the above works for you.

  • Switching to mac from windows / Outlook 2003 how to import?

I have just bought a macbook pro after years of using windows; experience is fabulous thus far but I have one problem in migrating over to the new machine. I'm considering whether to use Mail or Entourage. One of the main things that will help me choose is the possibility of importing my inbox (including sub folders) from Outlook 2003. (I'm running it internet only)
Is there any way to do this? Either in entourage or using some available translation program?
    Many thanks in advance.
    John.a.

I concur John, the best way to import your contacts from Outlook 2003 is to convert your Outlook Contacts to V-Cards as the link provided suggests. From an email content perspective, thats a bit more difficult. However, there are a couple of work-arounds:
    This is one:
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2002100306134721
Alternatively Outlook to Mac is a package from "Little Machines" that costs $10 for the fully functional version (very worth it) and allows you to do all this from within its application. I used it when I converted from Windows and it worked really well.

    Hope this helps.

Can anyone help me with this..
and .. oh yes.. I'm a newbie at mac.. got it for only about a week or so now..

I don't use contacts but I found this document that should help:

However it does specify Outlook 2003 or later is required to sync contacts so that will be an issue for you.

  • How to import address book from Microsofot Outlook 2003 to Entourage?

    Hi there,
After a lot of internal battles, I've switched to Mac from Windows. I am a new converted. I have been resolving a lot of "compatibility issues" by myself, but a couple of things are still in the arcanes:
    1) I have a CSV file with all my addresses but I can not convert into a Mac file. What do I need to do? Could someone please explain step by step the process?
    2) May I use my Mac Pro as a server also? Or, do you think I need to buy a "real server"?
    Thanks

  • Export from Windows Outlook into Mac Contacts

Sorry if this has been addressed earlier; I searched but couldn't find this specific matter.
Just purchased the Verizon iPhone for my wife. She had a prior AT&T iPhone, synched at office, where she works on Windows ... we are syncing the new one here at home on my iMac. I thought it would be a simple matter to export her contacts from the office Outlook (Windows) and import to the iMac's Contacts..BUT they don't appear to make use of any single standardized format. The Windows Outlook could export to PST (which is what it uses), or to Excel or Access. But Mac OS Contacts doesn't import from either of those.
I'd like to avoid, for obvious reasons, having to re-key all 800+ contacts into the system.
Is there an obvious solution that I've overlooked?
    Thanks

    Allan Sampson wrote:
Since all Microsoft does is copy other's work, Microsoft copied Apple's lead as usual and incorporated vCard support with Outlook. Outlook includes an option to forward all contacts in the Outlook address book as separate vCard attachments to an email. Your wife can forward the email with the vCard attachments to a personal email address that she accesses with the Mail.app on her Mac or she can send it to herself with the work email address if she also accesses her work email address wit the Mail.app on her Mac. Save the separate vCard attachments received with the email to a folder created on the Desktop. Use the Address Book import feature choosing vCard navigating to the folder where the vCard attachments saved from the received email.
I didn't see that in her Outlook (she does have, I think, a fairly old version of Outlook). ... I DID send as e-mail attachments some individual vCard attachments, about 20, and was easily able to import them into our home Mac's Address Book. Are you saying there should be (or IS) the ability to export all 800+ address cards as vCard? That's what I didn't see (and believe me, I looked).
    Allan Sampson wrote:
Or if the contacts with her Verizon iPhone have been synced with Outlook, she can sync her Verizon iPhone contacts direct with the Address Book on her Mac via the iTunes sync process. If the Address Book on her Mac is used for contacts, she will be provided a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which she wants to select.
I did synch her new Verizon iPhone already with iTunes here at home on our Mac. Didn't see this particular list of contacts at the time. I'll take a look this evening again (she's at work as I write this). Her iPhone, I know, shows under Contacts all of the entries I have on my own (AT&T) iPhone, the same ones that are in the Address Book, AS WELL AS a separate Contacts list, which is the set of 800+ from her Outlook at work.
So, yes, it would seem as if there should be a way. "So close and yet so far."
    Thanks, Allan, for the suggestions.

  • Transferring e-mails from Microsoft Outlook Express to Entourage '08

Ok, so I agreed to help my neighbor with an e-mail issue she was having. Her issue was moving all of her e-mails from her PC (on Outlook Express) to her new iMac (using Entourage '08). It's a rather complicated thing, I'm sure, and I'll try to go over everything as thoroughly, and as simply, as possible.
She has an @comcast e-mail account. She has her @comcast account set with Outlook Express, on her PC, and she is able to receive all incoming e-mails on O.E., but they disappear on the Comcast e-mail page 24 hours after she receives them.
When she purchased her iMac, the Geniuses at the retail store set up her @comcast account to Mail, and from that point, she received all NEW e-mails from her @comcast account, and this time they weren't being deleted from the Comcast page.
She asked me to transfer all of her e-mails on O.E. to Entourage (just for archiving purposes, so Mail isn't over-cluttered with a near decades worth of e-mails).
I've tried several methods, but I can't figure out how to transfer the emails from O.E. to Entourage. After an hour, or two, I realized that her old settings on O.E. were set to erase the e-mails from the Comcast server.
All in all, I need to know..... how to transfer emails from O.E. (which are deleted from the Comcast server) over to Entourage.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Here's some possibilities:
Import Outlook Express (PC) emails into Mail
Mail.app - Importing from Outlook and Outlook Express
Moving emails from Outlook Express to Mac OS X
If you do some more Google searches you may find other possibilities. You may be able to export from OE to Thunderbird on the PC, move the Thunderbird data to the OS X version of Thunderbird, then move from Thunderbird to Mail. The advantage of Thunderbird is that you can export both email and contacts from OE.
