Import function  Photoshop elements

I have the trial version of Elements. Can I use the import function to scan pictures from my scanner? It is greyed out at the moment

Adobe stop shipping photoshop elements with the Import>Frame from Video because it's outdated and the plugin is a 32 bit plugin and doesn't work in pse 12 or 13, which are 64 bit applications on mac os x.

I never did it from Windows to Mac.
I assume you need to move everything to Mac PSE12 (or PSE 13) by downloading the 30 day free trial of PSE 12 or 13, and then once everything is working, use File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog in Lightroom. Your tags and albums will remain intact. I believe the face recognition transfers as well to keywords, but the location in the photo of the face will be gone as Lightroom has no such feature.

Launch Elements 11 Organizer. On the top left, you will find a big Import button. Click on it, and choose last option (From iPhoto).

  • Import multiple Photoshop Elements catalogs

    Hello folks,
I just imported one Photoshop Elements catalog from PSE6.0 into LR4 using "File:Update PSE catalog ...". That worked well.
As I'm using multiple PSE catalogs I then wanted to import the next one into LR4.
So I switched to the 2nd catalog in PSE to make it the current catalog in PSE and tried to follow the same procedure in LR4.
Alas, the menu entry "File:Update PSE catalog ..." in LR4 is now grayed out, so that I can't import the 2nd PSE catalog.
That would make it pointless to move from PSE to LR4.
Can it be that LR4 assumes, having imported one PSE catalog is enough? If yes, is there any way to overcome that?
My platform: W'7 64bit, PSE6.0, LR4.0, installs in German language, PSE catalogs located in a user selected folder
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    OMB
EDIT: I finally found out how to overcome that limitation myself:
    1. Close LR4
    2. Open LR preferences file "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences\Lightroom 4 Preferences.agprefs" in a text editor
2.a You'd better make a backup copy of that file before playing with it
    3. Locate the "Adobe_successfulUpgrades******" entry - in my case it started in line 5
    4. Delete that entry; important: make sure to delete all lines of this entry: the ones ending on a backslash and the closing ",
    5. Save and reopen LR4 -> the disabled menu entry is now available again

The CSH file simply stores a Custom Shape for Photoshop to re-use.
By its nature you can only have one active at any one time but you can view them all together in the drop-down from the Options Bar or in the Preset Manager.

  • Importing from PhotoShop Elements to iPhoto

I moved a photo from iPhoto 8 to Adobe PhotoShop elements 6 to make some editing changes. I saved this edited copy as a JPEG item. Now iPhoto will not import this edited copy. The error dialog box states:Unreadable Files: 1. It further states: "The following file could not be imported. (The file is in an unrecognized form.)" How can I import this edited copy into iPhoto?

I moved a photo from iPhoto 8 to Adobe PhotoShop elements 6 to make some editing changes. I saved this edited copy as a JPEG item.
Where did you save the edited photo?
The proper way to use PSE with iPhoto is to set it as the external editor in the iPhoto preferences - then you edit in iPhoto and save (not save as) back to iPhoto
Otherwise you must save to the desktop and then import to iPhoto

  • Importing from Photoshop Elements 6 back into iPhoto 11

I don't want to whine about all the frustrations I've had trying to get used to iPhoto 11, but this one totally baffles and frustrates me and I would be glad for any help. I install all my pictures in iPhoto - I drag pictures to PS to edit, and I used to be able to drag from Elements back into iPhoto - the edited picture would be imported and voilà. Now I get a message telling me the picture is already in iPhoto, and it will not import it. I've change the photo name, and it still isn't happy. So far the only way I've been able to get around it is to save the picture into the documents folder and then reimport. I like the editing factor in Photoshop, I have (past tense) liked the simplicity and simple organization and editing of iPhoto... I hope to not have to move to Photoshop for everything. Help?! Thank you!!

    Maybe this will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in iPhoto". That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • How do i maintain transparency of photos imported from Photoshop Elements?

i prepared some sepia photos i found in a digital library in Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.  the subjects are in the center and i removed the space around them, making it transparent.  however, after importing them into Premiere Elements I've lost the transparency.  I've  tried keying with some of the options, Chroma Key, Non Red Key, etc., but no matter what i do i can't attain the effect i want, which is to show the background color i selected.
i learned Premiere in the early days when only one video line maintained transparency.  i changed my pictures to two different video lines thinking this would make a difference, but that didn't do anything.  i'm stocked, can't finish my project because of this.
i also accessed Premiere Elements help, but the explanation they give is like a long commercial that doesn't go anywhere.  it tells of all the options available but it doesn't explain how you apply the options to your problem. i already own the product, i know it's good, that's why i bought it.  don't have to keep reselling it.   Uff!
    any ideas?
    thank you.

Is you only interest in maintaining the transparency in the saved Photoshop Elements 10 Editor image created with transparency?
Then the png and psd save from the Editor should serve your purposes. Are you also interested in how to maintain transparency in the Premiere Elements 10 export which includes the images with transparency?
If so, please look at Share/Computer/QuickTime and, under the Advanced Button/Video Tab of the preset selected, look especially to the settings of Video Codec = Animation and Depth = 32 bit.
Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • Decreased picture resolution when importing from Photoshop Elements

When I export pictures from Photoshop Elements 7.0 to Premier Elements 7.0 the resolution decreases significantly.  I tried to "bypass" Photoshop by importing the pictures from my hard drive but ended up with the same problem.
Can anyone help me to locate a solution to this problem?
    Thanks.

This is because, when you port your slideshow to Premiere Elements, it becomes video -- and video has a resolution of essentially 640x480 pixels at 72 ppi.
If you'd like to save your slideshow at full resolution, you'll need to use one of the other export options -- and you'll need to make it playable on a computer, which has a higher resolution than your TV.

  • Importing from Photoshop Elements 6

Giving up on PSE and making the move to Lightroom. Over the past 8 years, built a database of more than 10,000 photos with stacks, version sets, tags, ... I have seen threads that say that tags will be preserved. Any idea if the stacks or version sets will stay. Will LR flatten everything out and import them as single files?
    Thanks in advance.

Stacks are preserved (usually), and version sets are converted to stacks.  You might want to check out this FAQ about converting from PSE to LR:

  • Importing video photoshop elements 13

I've seen online videos and tutorials for importing frames from a video file, but I do not have that option for import. Each time I try to add or open a video file, I get an error saying that it is an unsupported docuemtn type. I have verified that I am using a support avi or wmv file, but I still get the error. I am using Photoshop elements 13.

This list is pretty close to all the fonts installed by adobe photoshop elements 13:

  • Preserving time when importing from Photoshop Elements

I have about 15K photos that I am moving from Photoshop Elements on Windows to Aperture. In Elements all my photos are in time order sequence plus the liberal use of tags. The tags work fine but the time sequence does not. Most photos have the date for when they were taken plus additional dates for when they were edited and/or when they were copied when I upgraded Windows/Photoshop. Some photos were from APS film that Walmart copied to CDs and I manually set the date. I have checked the metadata on a random set of photos and the date used by Photoshop on Windows is correct.
My question is "Can I get Aperture to use the same rules as Photoshop Elements so that when I view "Photos" in Aperture, they will be in the same order. I check the manual; nothing on this. iPhoto has the same problem but then it doesn't support the same level of metadata as Aperture. Specifically, I need Aperture to support "Date Time Original" field when it is available. Otherwise, I will have to stay with Photoshop Elements.
    Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks
PS Using the change date/time facility is not a realistic option since it would take days of labour for something that is already contained in the metadata
