Import hotmail folders to Mail

Hi there,
Im a new Mac user and for a lot of years I used to use windows mail clients, my problem is that I have folders in my hotmail account and although I already add my msn account in Mail I can't see or access to my hotmail folders. Is there any way to import my hotmail folders to Mail?
I really appreciate your helpful answer.

That's right - it works on iOS devices.  The hotmail/exchange active sync feature is only available on certain model phones (iOS, Windows Phone 7, webOS palm pre, etc) at this point.  It is not available for use with email clients on OS X or even Windows at this point.
If you have a Mac or a Windows pc, at this point you can only to POP3 email through hotmail.  Under POP3 only messages in the inbox can be downloaded to your Mac or Windows pc, regardless of the email client app you are using.
mBox Mail for Mac can give you IMAP-like features with the hotmail email service.  It's an add-on to your existing email client.

  • How to sync all Hotmail folders in Mail on iMac?

I have just purchased an iMac and am trying to set up my mail, but when I set up my hotmail account to Mail it only syncs the Inbox not the sub folders, is there anyway around this, as I have reverted back to using www.hotmail.com to check my emails.
    Thanks.

It sounds like you have your Hotmail setup as POP in Mail. You will need to add a new account as IMAP. Note, when you delete the POP account in Mail it will also delete the messages in the Inbox. You need to archive or move the Inbox messages to a folder before deleting the account.
The iPhone is connecting through ActiveSync (which is exclusively for mobile devices).
Since you are using [email protected], you might need to log into your account in Safari and add aliases for your email as [email protected] before creating the IMAP account.

  • Can't Import Entourage Folders into Mail

I began setting up Mail to see if I like it better than Entourage. I went to import Entourage folders and, when I select Microsoft Entourage and click Continue, I get a warning that says "Error: Unable to locate Microsoft Entourage mailboxes to import."
I don't know where they are, so I doubt if I moved them. And, there is no option to locate them. So, what can I do to import the folders?
    Anyone have any ideas?

One thing to make sure when you are importing is that Entourage has to be running when you do the import.

  • Import hotmail folders to iphone

Since i have updated my iphone with iOS 7 i cannot get my folders that are set up in hotmail into Mail- they have always previously been available. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

  • Cannot link other hotmail folders to mail

So I just got my shiny new Macbook Pro and would love to never actually have to go into my hotmail account again. I have already linked it to the mail application. However, as we all know, from time to time some things go into our junk folder which have no business being there. I can't seem to link the hotmail junk folder to the mail... Meaning if hotmail's filter throws something valuable into the junk folder, I would have no idea unless I went online and checked. Is there any way to get junk mail to link as well?

+" ... Is there any way to get junk mail to link as well? ..."+
In brief, no. Hotmail is POP email and the only folder it can 'link' to your local Mail application on your Mac is the Inbox. That's the way POP email works.

  • Importing Outlook express folders into mail on intel imac ?

I was running outlook express on os 9.1 G3 and need to import the folders into mail on my fab new mac intel...
Any advice/help much appreciated as always
    Many thanks
    Steve

    Steve,
Your OE messages are in a folder called Identities within one called Microsoft User Data. A first step might be to copy the MUD folder or the Identities folder to a disk and transfer it to you new Mac's desktop.
A few years ago, I transferred my mail from OE on a G3 running OS 9 to my flat panel iMac running OS X. At the time I made use of running OE in Classic on my new iMac. Your Intel Mac will not run Classic so the approach will be a little different.
I've read of people being able to import the OE messages into Entourage on their new Mac and then getting them into Apple's Mail. If you have Office for Mac you can try this, or you can try it using the 30 day free trial of Office.
Until you complete the transfer, keep everything intact on your old Mac. Do not delete OE. And whatever you do, do not delete the MUD folder or the Identities folder!
    Post back,
    Steve M.

  • I cannot get Mac's Mail program to load all of my Hotmail folders...

I am a Mac newbie. I searched the discussion boards for an answer to my problem but I can't seem to find an answer. I would like to configure my Mail so that it imports all of my Hotmail folders - both my inbox AND the multile folders that I have within Hotmail.  I was able to do this easily with my Windows PC, so it seems that it should be easiy accomplished with the Mac. These folders automatically appeared when I configured the hotmail account to Microsoft Outlook on my Windows PC.  Can anyone help? I'm hoping that this is a simple fix!

mbox mail for mac is the solution I think. It worked well for me.

  • Import Hotmail emails to Apple's Mail

I use Apple's Mail program for my primary email but I also have a Hotmail account, but I get so much spam that I want to close it. However, before closing it I would like to import all email from this Hotmail account into Mail but Mail's import feature does not list Hotmail, only "Other". But when I choose "Other" it asks me to select an application but of course Hotmail doesn't show up. Bottom line--how can I import my Hotmail emails into Apple's Mail?

Download this, it works really nice

  • IPad & iPhone Hotmail Folders Empty

    iPhone & iPad folders empty
Sometime recently, perhaps after updating my iPhone and iPad to iOS 6, I noticed mail is missing from many of my HotMail folders on those devices. My account is set up as an Exchange account. I have since deleted it from my iPad and added it back as a new Exchange account. My Inbox repopulated with a small number of existing emails, but just a few of the 100 plus emails that are accessible via a web browser on my desktop computer. Likewise for my Sent mail and Trash. None of the folders I created on my own populated on my iPad of iPhone with the emails that are in them and which are accessible via desktop and web browser.
If I send a new email message to my account, then after it arrives I move it using my desktop to one of the folders I created, it shows up just fine. In other words, there doesn't seem to be any problem with new emails, just earlier, preexisting emails. I tried using my desktop to move emails from one folder to another to see if they would then populate on my iPad, but that didn't help. I tried marking them as unread. That didn't help either.
I cannot find a way to make preexisting emails show up in the folders on my iPad or iPhone.
Has anybody encountered this before? Is this a known bug? More importantly, is there a fix or a workaround?
    Thanks.

    Thank you.
I found the answer. It was operator failure, my fault. In the settings on my iPhone and iPad there is a setting called Mail Days to Sync. I had this set to a short duration. When I changed it to No Limit, all the older mail was properly populated into their respective folders.

  • Missing gmail folders in Mail for Mt. Lion

I moved a lot of email to a gmail account to archive it (originally from MS Exchange), creating mail folders to hold the mail. This worked fine. But on updating to Mt. Lion, I can no longer see any of these folders, only the stock gmail folder (All Mail, Bin, Drafts, Important, Sent Mail, Spam, and Starred). I can see these folders and mail when I look at the account via a browser, but these folders are no longer accessible via Apple Mail. What happened and is there a solution to this?

Tried it. No difference. There are just the stock gmail folders visible. Note that I CREATED the folders and moved the mail using Apple Mail in Lion a couple months ago. It is only since upgrading to Mt. Lion have they been inaccessible.

  • Why can't I see the message in my hotmail folders?

When I click on one of my folders in hotmail, I get the message" No message selected" . But when I go to on my laptop to folders in hotmail, I can see my messages in the selected folder. Why can't I see them on my iPad. My daughter in-law has got iPad 2 and she can see her messages in her hotmail folders.
    Anneke.

Try quitting the mail app completely and restart the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, reset your iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Import entourage files into mail

I just upgraded without I guess reading the fine print. I used Entourage for my e-mails and can't open it anymore with OS X Lion. How can I import my thousands of mails and archived stuff into Apple Mail?

I haven't been able to get a 100% successful import from mail.app (2.0) into Entourage 2004 (latest update). For example, if I import a mail 2.0 account with 2000+ messages (sorted in various folders and subfolders) into entourage 2004, random messages aren't imported, missing attachments, etc.
Also, I've never come across anyone saying this CAN work because Entourage 2004 doesn't understand the new .elmx format.
    But, using this tool...
    http://www.cosmicsoft.net/emlxconvert.html
    ...and following these instructions...
    http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/mac911/2005/11/archiveemlx/index.php
...I've been able to successfully import mail 2.0 accounts/message/mailboxes into Entourage 2004 (though, takes a little manual grunt work, but works none the less).
    Regards,
    Kristin.
