Import Image Sequence in Media Encoder CS4?

Hi all,
Is it possible to import an image sequence in Media Encoder CS4 to export it in FLV?
In the documentation, it's said in "File formats supported for import" that it supports jpg sequence (not png!?), but I don't know how to add an image sequence.
Thanks

Sorry I meant, it doesn't look like can and I find that gay.

  • Importing picture sequence in Media Encoder ? like in the help

If you look in this help document   http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AdobeMediaEncoder/4.0/WS8A54CAA7-268E-4af0-B8A4-0EA3EACEC1A3.h tml
it says you can import TGA sequence and JPG sequence. From the document :
    - JPEG and JPEG sequence (JPE, JPG, JFIF)
    - Targa and Targa sequence (TGA, ICB, VDA, VST)
but I was unable to do that. You can drop a jpg file in MEdia Encoder and it will convert just fine - but only the first frame. How to load the entire sequence ?

I'm trying to import. When you're working with 3d graphics and rendering - the common work-flow would be to render a series of frames, a sequence. Many people work like this also even with normal footage.
Or some programs expect also a sequence. For example the software Nuke (commonly used for compositing in films like Watchmen and Avatar).
And because I think Adobe Media Encoder is one of the fastest encoders around I would like to use it to convert a sequence of JPG in a WMV or H264.
Since it can export a sequence of TGA or BMP it's only normal to expect that it can read also a sequence. And more so the Help says it can :
    Supported still‑image formats :
JPEG and JPEG sequence (JPE, JPG, JFIF)
Targa and Targa sequence (TGA, ICB, VDA, VST)
But if I drag a JPEG file in the encoder - it reads only the first frame. Is there a special method to read the rest of the frames ? Maybe a script , or maybe I have to make a text file like a playlist ..or something.

  • Changing Frame Padding On Image Sequence Exports, Media Encoder

    Hello Adobe World,
I am using dynamic link from After Effects to Media Encoder and I am trying to export an image sequence with a specific numbering system for input into software code. Is there any way to change the frame padding or change the numbering system for Image sequence exports?
We are trying to speed up our workflow by Batch rendering from AME. AE does let us set our frame numbering and gives us an option for creating sub-folders (it's surprising the AE is much more organized in it's export options that AME). We need to be able to render more than one thing at a time and need to keep working in AE while the files are rendering. I have not found a workable background rendering plug-in for CC14. We could use AME if there is a way to fix the Number system.  We are working on a PC Windows 8. I can provide more system specs if it is necessary.
Side note: in AE we can use [#] to set the numbering value and in AME it does not work.
    Thank you for your help!
Still looking for an answer on this.... it's been 2 months.... Adobe team? Anyone?

    Change it to this?

  • Can Ppro CS3 projects be imported by Media Encoder CS4

    Hello:
I have Ppro CS3. I also have the Design Suite CS4.  I would like to render out Ppro CS3 sequences or projects into F4V files in Media Encoder CS4.
Does anyone know if this is possible?  When I select "add Premiere sequence" in Media Encoder CS4 and find the Ppro project in the file tree Media Encoder hangs just upon selecting the Premiere project without even attempting to add to the render queue.  I am not sure if this is because CS3 project are incompatible, or for some other reason. As mentioned, Media Encoder CS4 hands as soon as the Premiere project is clicked to selected and before "ADD" is clicked to add to the render queue.
Anyone come across this problem?  Is it fixable, or are Ppro CS3 projects just incompatible with Media Encoder CS4.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

    I appreciate the reply.
However, unfortunately, I do not have Premiere Pro CS4.  This is why I am trying to export to Media Encoder CS4. I own the Design Premium CS4 suite which has Media Encoder CS4 version built in.
Media Encoder actually is a stand alone product.  When you bring the program up, It has import options for the files you wish to encode.  One of the options is to import a PPro sequence.  However, when searching the system for Sequences, I could only figure out how to get to the Pproj files.
Documentation appears to indicate the Pproj files are compatible with Media Encoder.  However, when I droped in the Pproj file from Premiere Pro CS3, I got a message that it was not a compatible file (message text may not have been that exact statement).
This is why I was curious to see if there is a version compatibility issue, or if someone can tell me how to other render out of Premiere CS3 into the Media Encoder version that comes with CS4 suites.
    Thanks.

On the principle that misery loves company, I'll add my report here. I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.2. Once a week or so, the Adobe updater interrupts me to try to install Adobe Media Encoder CS 4.2.0. Inevitably, it reports:
    Installation Incomplete
Adobe Media Encoder CS 4.2.0 failed to install.
I doubt I make much use of said encoder, but what do I know. I'm primarily an InDesign user with a small amount of Photoshop work. I guess I'll just continue ignoring this message.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Importer?

I am trying to help a user get all applications installed after a hard drive crash, and am looking for a program that was listed in Add/Remove Programs. The program listed is "Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Importer." I have installed all components of Flash CS4, and it's still not showing, and a search of the Adobe site doesn't mention the importer? Any guidance would be appreciated.

This is the forum for the Flash Media Live Encoder- you may want to try posting to the Flash Professional forums.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 runtime error

I am wondering why I am getting a runtime error while
attempting to use Adobe Media Encoder CS4...As soon as I launch
Adobe Media Encoder CS4, it crashes I have installed and
reinstalled Flash a couple time, to see if this corrects the
problem, which it doesn't, and just last week it was working
fine...Does anybody have a ideal what is going on?

Don't know if this helps anyone else, bt the runtime errors i have been getting occur when I try to build and burn a blu-ray file. And they happen intermittently. In fact, on this project, I had burned several test blu-rays without difficulty. When I made one minor change on the penultimate version, and tried to burn again, the system crashed with a run time error. Then it crashed 9 more times over the course of the week.
Finally in frustration, I created an interim ISO file in Encore- ie in the build workstream, i selected burn an image file rather than burning a blu-ray disk. After this intermediate step completed, i then did a separate burn in encore but burned from the image file. No snags.
Not sure why but this program has trouble doing a sequence of activities. As it is, I already render and save the file before burning. Now I have another interim step to create an image file before burning.
In my next hardware change, I am going to switch to make Mac and Apple software. Enough of MS Windows and Adobe, the GM and Chrysler of the software industry. Hopefully what my friends tell me is true; that Apple stuff actually works.

  • Media encoder CS4 can't do what Flash Encoder CS3 does????

    Quad 2.66 Xeon MacPro / OS 10.5.8 / CS4 all updates applied. / 24GB RAM

Flash CS3 Media Encoder does it just fine.
What's the deal? Why remove the support?
I do have Flip4Mac installed as well as Perian. Any chance these items allow the CS3 encoder to work, but not the CS4?

  • Media Encoder CS4 hangs when opening large XDCAM HD MXF files

I am having a problem with Media Encoder CS4 hanging consistently when importing large (18GB) XDCAM HD (25mbps, MPE-2 HD) MXF files.  Smaller files are not a problem.  This is on a soupped up system, HP XW8600 Workstation / Windows Vista Pro.  The same files work fine in After Effect CS4.
Any idea what could cause this?
    Thanks.

Yes, I did.  Thanks for the tip though.

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Suddenly Adding Black Bars To L & R

I think I may be going crazy.
Every video I have ever shot has been cropped to 720x340 in After Effects then exported as an uncompressed Quicktime movie file at 720x340.  For the last year I have done this process exactly the same everytime.
On my website (www.stevenbogda.com) videos are either 360x170 or 480x226 FLV files, both variations of the original 720x340 Quicktime file.  I would just bring a 720x340 file into Adobe Media Encoder CS4, adjust the dimensions and bitrate and export and it would work perfectly.  Now all of the sudden, when I bring anything I shot and exported recently into AME CS4 to get it ready to go on my website, it adds BLACK BARS to the left and right side of my video (refer to image 2).
I thought it was just a visual problem in AME CS4 until I exported it as the FLV file that I planned on doing, just to find that the actual FLV file is in fact the dimensions I wanted, EXCEPT it has black bars on the right and the left...
I immediately blamed it on After Effects and started re exporting uncompressed Quicktime files with different settings and managed to get AME to work properly but it was random.  Some videos were exported with "settings 1" and worked in AME but other videos with the same settings didn't work.
I went to my hard drive where I store my master Quicktime files that were used to make the videos on my site and brought some into AME CS4 and they acted the same way that the new videos I made do, with black bars on the left and right.  These videos worked the way I wanted them to in AME CS4 last month, but now suddenly are doing what my more recent files do and I have no idea why.
I found out that by lowering the width of the video (refer to image 3) the black bars would dissapear slowly, but then the video would be a smaller width that it should be.  I really think I am just missing something, or set some setting wrong by accident because this never used to happen and now is happening with files that once worked correctly.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated because I am spending way too much time re exporting uncompressed files just to find out they don't work.
    Thank you,
    Steven

    Stan,
I was using the on2VP6 codec at data rates from 275k to 400k with good results. -- with the new CS$ endcoder i am used h.264 at 500k to 700k, video quality looks good but the graphic overlays look like alised crap. In the encoder settings the edges of the graphics get jaged when I make the field order progresive...
I am starting with DV NTSC video at 720x480.
I am going to go back to my old work flow and test it. The settings are a bit different from premiere pro 1.5 to CS4 -- in 1.5 i could export out an unconpressed .mov with square px and then bring that large file to flash media encoder to create the .flv

  • Adobe Media Encoder CS4 stops encoding!

OS: Windows XP 32 bit SP3.
Hello, I've been working with Premiere Pro CS4 and Media Encoder CS4 since 2008 and it always worked fine. Now i've got a big problem that I don't understand: Media Encoder CS4 stops encoding at about 10-12 seconds after the encoding starts.
The curious thing is that the software really does not crash, it just stops encoding, the time counter freezes, but Media Encoder does not crash itself, you can add or delet video, edit preferences, etc.
It doesn't matter what kind of video I try to encode, I've tried Premiere sequences but also independent video files. It always happens the same and I really don't know what to do.
I have the latest versions of both software... can anybody please help me??

That software and OS are both pretty old.  You may find there aren't too many people still using them to help on this one.

  • Media Encoder CS4 out-performing CS4 on WMVs

Ok, this particular issue has been driving me crazy. I have both CS4 and CS5 Production Premium on my machine (2 machines, actually). In testing them today, I imported an avi file captured on a Blackmagic card directly into Adobe Media Encoder CS5 and converted it to a wmv using a 350kbps preset I'd made. The video is 8:15 long, and took right about 16 minutes to encode.
I then took the exact same file into Adobe Media Encoder CS4 and used the exact same encode preset and it took only 5 minutes to encode. How can CS4 be performing 3x faster than CS5? This only affects WMV encoding; any other filetype seems to be the same in either version.
Anyone have any clues at all as to where to begin fixing this issue?

There have been several instances, such as you describe, on the forum lately. Do not recall any exact resolutions though. I'd seach for "green flashes," as that exact phrase has been used in many.
On the PC using the latest version of QuickTime the exact same video stutters and flashes green.
Is this with QT 7.6.2? Many had major issues with the QT 7.4.x versions and Adobe software. The QT 7.5.5 version seemed to fix most of those, but another user was having issues with it very recently, and there have been some, who have also had issues.
It seems that QT will work with Adobe products for a bit, and then the next upgrade, or two, will fritz up the whole works.
Wish this was not such a "moving target."
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Export fails with Media Encoder CS4 "Encoding Failed"," Could Not Read From Source.

There has never been a history of Adobe CS3 installation on the brand new MAC Pro I am using prior to installing Master Collection CS4, despite other posts claiming that chief cause of this issue is a previous CS3, Beta or trial installations of previous versions. I simply had a straightforward installation of CS4 and have had trouble since day 1.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Master CS4 three times, two times with the action script cleaner for CS4. I tried changing Adobe Cache folder locations to alternative drives. I ran shift start many times to correct any inconsistencies and corrected for permissions using disk utilities repeatedly. All updates have been installed and I am still getting the same error when exporting my timeline to Media Encoder CS4, be it a large High Definition project or a small one consisting of few stills.
No matter what presets I chose, the job appears as one of the items in the render qeuee of Media Encoder CS4 and sits there with the status WAITING until i hit Start Queue. Please any gurus out there know how to troubleshoot this damn thing on Mac, I really appreciate it. I have not yet encountered any posts of Mac owners with no previous CS3 installation having this issue. I am in the middle of 3 projects with tight deadlines and need your urgent help. THANK YOU!

    Hello There,
I resolved the issue through a simple process of elimination. So simple in fact I wonder how I missed it. Since there has been no history of prior CS3 installation on this machine and every conceivable trick was applied to resolve the problem (refer to my original post earlier in the thread) ending in frustration, the problem had to reside in a factor or series of factors that were only present in this machine. Of the two remaining causes different in compare to other machines, I had to look into the possibility of any hardware and/or software conflicts. After all, this very same installation works perfectly fine on my colleague's Apple Macbook Pro and several Windows machines.
It turns out that I had installed Pro Tools on this machine that comes with all kinds of optional plug-ins in the so called ignition pack. One of these optional plug-ins is called IZOTOPE (three varieties include Spectron, Trash and another one that escapes my mind). They were all lite version licenses that would automatically pop up on their own when you would start a program where they had been residing. One such program where an association existed was indeed the Premiere. An annoying dialogue box directing you to buy the full version when you would start the premiere would refuse to go away. Sometimes it would even start on its own culminating in a a permanent dialogue box.
The cause of the problem was right before my eyes and I had overlooked it. Once uninstalled using IZOTOPE clean uninstaller on step 4, the problem was resolved. Projects are now loading very fast into the AME and encoding begins in earnest. I have never had any issues ever since.
Long story short, if you have any plug-ins specially the ones that are loading upon the start of any program or the ones that reside inside the premiere or the ones that start on their own independently, they could be one of the highly probable causes of this error. I have seen other similar posts complaining of plug in folders inside premiere that needed to be moved to resolve the issue for instance the ones that needed to be moved to AE folders. If you are a plug-in admirer, I would suggest to look into them seriously.
On the side note, many combination and causes may lead to the same error. I am not claiming that this is the solution for everyone.
It must also be noted that I applied the trick of creating a shortcut of Premiere (and naming it exactly as such) and dropped it into the Adobe Dynamic LInk folder (even though this was suggested for windows)and have changed the adobe Cache locations to an alternative folder on a separate drive. I haven't been able to establish conclusively if the latter steps are also essential in fixing the error on MAC but I can confirm that since the latter steps were taken before the uninstalling of Izotope plug-ins and i still had issues, probably uninstalling those plug ins or finding a way to move them to a place where they don't interfere (if you absolutely need to keep them) is the one essential step that solved the problem.
    Hope this helps.
