Import Image Sequence not importing all images

I have a sequence of 99 JPG images that I am trying to import into Premiere Pro. These images were created by an export from Lightroom.
When I perform the import starting at the first image, only 35 images are imported.
If I import the sequence starting at the 34th image, only 2 images are imported.
If I import the sequence starting at the 35th image, only 1 image is imported (and it is imported as an image file it appears).
If I import the sequence starting at the 36th image, the remaining images are imported.
I have tried a number of different settings for the export from lightroom, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. For example, if I export as TIFF I see the exact same problem. If I export as JPG using a smaller image size I see the exact same problem.
I have tried "Replace Footage..." to no effect.
When I inspect the image files using an image view there appear to be no issues with the files. File sizes are consistent and not inordinantly large (~5MB).
The filenames are all properly numbered as expected by Premiere Pro.
I have done this successfully dozens of times before this problem arose, and I have done it successfully a number of times since the problem arose. The problem appears to happen only with this particular set of images.
I can work around the problem by importing the images as two separate imports (one starting at the first image and a second starting at the 36th image) and putting them both in a single sequence. In fact, this spliced sequence looks as expected with no missing frames or anything else untoward that I can see.
I've poked around with this for a couple days, and cannot discern any other factors that may be causing this.
Does anybody have any idea what might be going on?

I checked the filenames again and they're properly sequenced with no extra or missing spaces or anything else that doesn't follow the pattern of the first 34 images. In fact, I took a screenshot of this, and in doing so I figured out what the problem is.
Here's a screenshot of the directory with all the images.
As I was reviewing this screenshot, I noticed that the "Date" column goes over midnight. Images 0001-0034 all took place before midnight, and images 0035-0099 took place after midnight.
This column shows the capture time of the images, coming from the camera and through the export from Lightroom. This is different from the creation date of the exported file, which is shown in the "Date modified" column (cropped out of screenshot). In other words, you can see that I took the pictures on February 25 and 26, but exported them on March 1.
To verify that this might be the problem I used "Edit Capture Time..." in Lightroom to shift all the images an hour earlier. This means that there is no longer a date change in the sequence as they all have capture times before midnight. I then exported the images from Lightroom again, and imported them into Premiere Pro.
When I do this, all the images are imported into Lightroom successfully.
I realize this is only one data point, but it sounds like Premiere Pro is maybe using the capture time as part of its sequencing heuristics, and for some reason it isn't handling a date change properly. Or maybe something else is afoot.
What do you think?

  • LR not showing all images on card during Import

I have the latest version of LR.  iMac and Canon 7D.  With my camera tethered directly to my computer, I start the Import Photos process.  When the thumbnails begin to load, it seems like if I have a large amount of photos to import (from 8GB card), it always leaves off the last hundred or two (approximately).  They just don't show up.  I'll import what is visible, then go back and do another import immediately.  All the ones that have been imported show up as greyed out thumbnails, then the remaining images on card will be avavilable for Import.
Why is Lightroom not seeing all the images the first time??

    Yes it is.

  • Photos did not import all my iPhoto images

I have an iPhotos Library containing over 33,000 photos. When I attempted to import them into the new Photos app only 22,000 came across. I tried to open the old library again with iPhoto using the library in the same folder (Pictures) but the same photos were missing. Photos had obviously done something ,to not only fail to import all my images into the new library but had also removed them from my existing iPhoto Library as well. I suspect that there is a problem with Photos creating a large SQL database. I have repeated this a second time but with the same result.
The only work around I can find is to delete both the iPhoto and Photos libraries from the folder and recover yesterday's iPhoto library backup from Time Machine. Now when I go back to iPhoto all my photos are there again. This means that I have to keep using iPhotos and not continue with Photos until this problem is fixed.
Does anyone else have an answer?

Try repairing the iPhoto Library and see if that comes over correctly.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

You really would not want to do this - you would have a mess - many duplicates and lots of images that have nothing to do with photos
Tell us more about your problem - what is happening and how it occurred
Most likely you have all of your original Photos in the originals folder of your iPhoto library and simply quitting iPhoto, dragging the iPhoto library to the desktop, launching iPhoto and creating a new library and dragging each folder from the originals folder in your iPhoto library on the desktop onto the iPhoto icon in the dock (check to be sure that the iPhoto preference to split items imported from the finder is NOT checked) - this will recreate your events
If this is not an option their probably is still help

  • 'Import All' is disable at Image Capture

    Hi!!
I just upgrade to Yosemite, and when I insert an SD (only photos) to my MacBook Pro, the Image Capture program shows up. But when I want to import all media, the button 'Import All' is disable.
Does any one knows why is happening this?
This is the same SD that I was using with my Canon, and did not had this problem with Mavericks.
    Thanks a lot in advanced.

    Thanks Glenn Leblanc!
I think there is a problem with the software.
    I tried this:
    1. Hide the 'Devices' list.
    2. Show the 'Devices' list.
    3. Then selected the SD, and magically the 'Import All' button became available.
Even if you select 1 file from the list, the button is available.
    Greetings!!

  • Importing all images without duplicates - LR3, LR4, LR5

Howdy. I've been using Lightroom 3 for a couple years.
Recently, a friend passed away. I went to look for photos of him and realized that many were missing. I've since found a few of them on Facebook, and suspect that some are lurking in old backups (of my files in general, not necessarily LR backups) on various hard drives. Things are desperate enough that I want to do an Import on *every single freaking image* on my 7 external drives and my internal drive, and yes, go through and weed out the little non-photo images that the system finds in all sorts of places on my hard drive.
But! Despite having clicked the check box for "Do not import suspected duplicates," I see that it wants to import thousands of them. Some are photos that I recognize from browsing through my master catalogue -- images I already have. Others are photos that haven't yet been imported -- but when the system finds multiple copies of those files (most of these from my IMAP mail attachment spools) it wants to import all of them, even though they are the same photo and often the same filename. We are talking tens of thousands of pictures, so I'm not keen on going through by hand and un-clicking all these duplicates.
Anyone know if a later version of LR can do this better?
Also, if later versions of LR help the user handle duplicates that are *already* in a catalogue? I've bought some scripts/plug-ins that help do this work, but it's still multi-step, very time consuming, and dodgy.
My needs are that of an amateur photographer who doesn't need much technical stuff (e.g. i have no idea of the ISO or the lens type of any of my photos, and am unlikely to start following that information later). I do need organizational help and I love the ability to develop quickly. But I've been constantly vexed by trying to get all the photos in the right place. An "expert" I hired to help me set up on LR recommended having different catalogues for different projects. Later, the entire Interweb pretty much shook its collective LR finger at me for having multiple cats, and so I made one big master catalogue. And since then, things have been pretty screwed up. I'm not sure whether I should bother to upgrade, or simply leave LR and try my luck at something else.

No version of Lightroom has tools to find or remove duplicates, and the import dialog has the same feature that is supposed to prevent duplicates from being imported. Lightroom considers a photo to be a duplicate if it has the same file name, capture date/time and file size.
So upgrading Lightroom does not help in this task.
However, you might want to see if this plug-in works for you (note: I have not tried it)

Trying your luck at something else ... in my opinion, if you are not organized using Lightroom, then simply moving to different software does not improve your organization. And there really isn't any "luck" involved. Improving your organization involves YOU putting in the work to become organized. The software is merely the tool that you use. And so any photographic management software will give you tools to improve your organization. It's really up to you, the software is not the problem.

When I'm travelling I import photos onto my laptop's external hard drive and work on the images using virtual copies to develop them. When I get home, I want to import all the photos together with the developed virtual copies fromt the laptop's external HD into LR5 on my PC desktop. But if I use the import button in LR I only get the original photo, not the developed copies. What am I doing wrong?

Since your current editing workflow is based around Virtual Copies there are no actual files containing the edit data. Therefore, you'll need to use the 'Import from another catalog' option ( see File menu).

I believe there are a couple of similar threads about CC or CC2014 behaving this way that might give yo some hints, but CS5 is not supported on your OS and may not run properly regardless of what you do. An in-place OS upgrade or an attempt to migrate the application would both be major problems for ID, so if you did either of those things you'll want to uninstall, run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstall.

  • Lightroom 5.5 is not cataloging all images in some folders

    Version:
    Lightroom 5.5 CC 2014
    System:
    Windows Pro 8.1 R2 64 bit
When I last updated my catalog in Lightroom, I discovered that in at least two folders, Lightroom did not catalog all of the images in the actual folder on my computer. Because of the number of images I have on disk, I don't know how prevalent this problem. I found two folders where only one image was cataloged. One folder had 12 images, the other had over 200 images.
All of the photos are the same format, both the single cataloged image and the uncatalogued images. The are Pentax RAW format (PEF). As far as I can tell, PEF images are cataloged fine in folders I've checked.
    Solutions tried:
Reimporting the entire photo collection to capture "new" images. The missing images display in Windows Explorer and in the Lightroom Import window. However, the images say "This appears to be a duplicate of another image," which is not the case. If I right click, the "Import This" option is grayed out, as are the images themselves.
    I've tried syncing the folder.
I actually deleted my catalog and re-created a new catalog in a different folder with a different name. This time, the missing images in one of the folders imported, but not the other.
What's the work-around to force an image import?

Download the Lr 5.2RC from Adobelabs. There was a bug in exporting which is fixed in this release candidate.

The second is the Photoshop CC resize and save. Does anyone know what the problem is? I never had this issue with any earlier version of Lightroom and I have been using it since version 1.0.

  • The library module in 4.3 version does not show all the images

The library module in the version 4.3 of Lightroom does not show all the images. They are marked with gray boxes instead of images. This is especially true of the images which I tried to import to Lightroom since I downloaded 4.3 a few weeks ago. If I want to seen an image, I have to go to the develop module to see it. What should I do?  Get this fixed now!!!!!!!!

My bet would be on a corrupt preview folder.
Your preview folder is located in the same folder as your catalog. It has the same name as your catalog with the word Previews.LRDATA at the end of the name. Rename this folder and let Lightroom rebuild the previews. Go to Library>Previews>Render Standard-sized Previews.  See if that fixes it.
If it doesn't, you may want to have a look here: http://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/photos-appear-black-gray-rectangles.html

Aperture is not importing all photos from the card reader, i tried importing 720 photos and it was only seeing 480 photos, the card reader stopped reading, aperture was saying "loading assets", still,  like if it was still reading the card. and the first time it loaded the pictures the import button was not availllable once not all the photos were not all loaded when the loading assets message stopped.
i  had to force quit aperture, ejecting the card from the reader, aperture, on relaunch was still seeing the card as present but it was ejected from the finder , and  physicaly on the desk.
i had to go in Apple Acticity monitor to find a process that was still active , someting called mass media and had to stop it.
my work around was manually copying the content of the card on the external hard drive about  9 gig of photos on the external HDD where i keep my aperture photos.  copying 9 gig of photos over usb2 took an 50 minutes.

I'm sorry, but I can't understand this paragraph. It seems like the "loading assets" message stopped but not all the photos were showing up in the import window. Were any of the photos duplicates? How long did you wait until you forced quit?
When you say "the first time it loadedthe pictures" you mean you attempted before and got the same result?
It does seem like it is either getting stuck on an image or is taking a long time to read the images off the card since the import button is not available...
When you copied the files to your external drive, you were then able to import to Aperture?
    Thanks

  • Iphoto does not import all items from camera

I have been importing photos into Iphoto from my canon SD300. I have noticed that on occaissions it has skipped a few files while importing. In particular it has skipped movie clips. When the camera is connected Iphoto says it is ready to import and tells you the number of images and movie clips, and it recognizes all of them. However, once the import function is over on the last occaision I noticed that two clips and one image was not imported. I manage to get the missed image/clips by inserting the memeroy card in a card reader and dragging the missed image/movie clips into Iphoto.
I would appreciate if any one knows why Iphoto does not import all the items from the camera even though it recognizes that they exist and how I should fix this problem.
    Thanks.

    Hi imac2,
I don't know why iPhoto skips some of your files. I can tell you that I use Image Capture to download my images and video clips. My video clips from my Canon can get quite large (over 1010 mg). iPhoto can import smaller clips that digital camera made, but now a lot of the newer camera can create very large video clips and I don't think iPhoto can handle importing them.
Once I download my images and video clips I put them in dated folders. This makes it much easier to back up the video clips and images. I then import the folders of images into iPhoto. I like having more control.

  • I'm trying to import photos from my SD card into iPhoto, which I have done many times before, but now I'm not seeing the "Import All" button to start the import.

I have an iMac, with an SD card slot, equipped with iPhoto '11(v9.2.3), and until recently have imported photos from my SD card without problem. But now, after turning on iPhoto, and inserting my SD card, nothing happens, except that a "canon_dc" icon appears on my desktop.  The "Import All" button no longer displays above my previously imported photos and I am, therefore, unable to complete the photo import.  Has something changed?

By design, the organizer (and any other database management systems) is there to prevent you from duplicating your media files. The catalog management allows you to have the same image in different categories or albums. Duplication in different folders is to be absolutely avoided.
The same image file can have multiple tags like 'family', 'vacations', 'birthdays' and be present in three different albums with the same names. On obvious advantage is less disk space. Another one with your present folder system is that if you edit one of your duplicates, the other ones are unchanged.
I don't see an easy way to make your present folder structure simplified for the organizer ...

  • Files/clips import sequence not according to date/time

When I import files/clips the sequence of is all muddled-up it looks the last files/clips according to the date/time are positioned first and first files last - why would this be and how can I resolve the problem?

There may be another case, at administration level: if you have several SPO workprocesses, the sequence of printing may not be respected: SPO 1 processes DO while SPO 2 processes INV for example. A solution to this is to use "print sequentially" flag in output device definition (this may not work at exceptional moments, when SPO workprocess exceptions occur, this is detailed in SAP notes).
