Import InDesign CS2 Interchange format into CS5

I have a lot of InDesign CS2 templates and documents. Since it is not possible to open them directly in InDesign CS5, I have used Interchange format from InDesign CS2 and everything worked beautifully.
But there is a problem. Every text frame from InDesign CS2 Interchange file opened in InDesign CS5, has some info at bottom right corner that consists of a value like 56W (width) and number of characters that are present in the text frame, along with column count (if present) and count of characters that are overflowing.
Interchange format from CS3 InDesign does not do that. There is no way to create and display those info with text frame created in CS5. If text frame from CS2 Interchange format is converted to picture frame, and back to text frame, that info is also gone.
I personally find very useful that info displayed at bottom right corner of text frame from CS2 file (except "w" value that does not change even when text frame is resized).
How can this info be displayed on every text frame created in InDesign CS5 ?

Indeed files from InDesign CS2 can be opened directly in CS5 ... there is something wrong with files from CS2 ... I suspect on one of installed plug-ins, so lets back to the interesting case of bug "Interchangable CS2 file format in CS5".
This "problem" can be replicated allways:
1) Create document in InDesign CS2
2) create 2 text frames with some text
3) export document as InDesign CS2 Interchangable format
4) open that file in InDesign CS5 and you will get bottom corner info from screenshot.
I would really like to see option to enable this "bug" in CS5 since it makes Info panel redundant in case of text frames.
I guess that value in front of "W" is some sort of width value ... I calculated and came up with 1W~3.25mm ... W Value is rounded (integer) value so some variations are noticable.
C stands for nuber of text columns.
first number in brackets is value of characters in text frame with spaces that is displayed. second is number of characters that are overflowed.
posted ID_CS2.jpg iz zip file actually. just change extension to zip. there are 2 files. one INDD from CS2 and one INX. just save link as .zip (Save target as).

  • Problem importing Premier Pro CS4 files into CS5

I have loaded Premier Pro CS5 onto a spanking new 64 bit machine.  When I import a CS4 project file into CS5, it asks me to locate the raw video files but nothing else.  All titles with graphics in them are without the graphics. The text is OK.  The graphics have disappeared.  How do I import a project so the titles are complete and don't have to be rebuilt?  .

Can you please give your system specs?
In particular, how many physical HDD you have as well as memory. OS, CPU etc.
Also - what are the scratch disc settings in Premiere?
Finally - what is the video type - SD? HD?
Please give as many details as possible as it sounds like your system is going into overdrive.

  • How do I open or import my mp4 video formats into Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 without a blur?

I use a Sanyo Xacti Vpc-cg10, and it imports mp4 files, but I can't seem to find out to import and use my videos to edit. I've tried finding a preset to use with the format but they all have a blur to them. Please Help!

Have you tried dragging your footage to the NEW ITEM button to have CS5 create a sequence that matches your footage ?

  • Can't import mov and mpg files into cs5.5

    Hi
When I import a mpg file into audobe premiere cs5.5. I get the message:
There was an erro decompressing audio or video
When I import a mov file into audobe premiere cs5.5. I get the message:
    Importer reported a generic error.
Good news is, that I have simply imported both files in the past without any troubles. So I hope it is something very simple.
Maybe I have somewhere codec installed in the past (k-light) and something now doesn't work that well anymore.
But I don't know if I have done this anymore and a desktop search didn't deliver me any results.

I've installed Premiere Pro now on a different windows7 platform.
Still the same. Can't import the mpg file. Somehow the mov file works here so that is something.
Anyway I thought maybe it is helpful to share some data about the video:
    Container:
    DVD "VOB" format

  • IMPORTING PHOTOS FROM V3.2 INTO CS5

Thanks for the advise on the proper forum to use.
I have photos currently in Photoshop Starter edition 3.2 which I now want to import into free trial edition of CS5.
The problem is that version 3.2 is no longer available and therefore my photos are not accessible, so unable to copy over.
    Any help greatly appreciated

    Thanks Noel,
Starter Edition 3.2 is about 5 years old (forgot to re-register in June 2009)
I can still see all my photos as i open the shortcut link, but it quickly is covered by a request to re-register and prevents any further access to photos.
Following the process to re-register with ADOBE finishes with an email from the support centre advising this edition of photoshop is no longer available and then directs me to CS5.
The photos are on my Hard drive so i can retrieve this way - thankyou

  • Importing 3rd party plug-ins into CS5

Coming from CS3, I've tried drag and drop but no joy.
How do I get my plug-ins/filters moved over - or do I have to continue to use CS3 if I want to use them???
It's been some time and I'm not sure I even have the original installers or not - it would take some real hunting around to find them if I did.  Some don't matter if I lose them, while many are used often.  There *should* be a simple drag and drop, migrate or import function for this - where is it?

They sort of say DON'T USE OLD 3rd party PLUG INS!
"As with all previous versions of Photoshop, don't copy old third-party plug-ins, or plug-ins from previous versions of Photoshop, into the Photoshop CS5 plug-ins folder.  If you have set the Additional Plug-Ins Folder in the Plug-Ins preferences to a folder, deselect this option."
Well where the heck are they supposed to go then?  :-/   Their installers put them in the Plug-Ins folder...
I found for the couple I really wanted to import, and tried, once in 32 bit mode on startup (Switch this under "Get Info" for those reading along) -  they worked just fine.  Yes, 64 bit would probably be better, but I suspect that in many cases 64 bit "upgrades" aren't free - even though the features are no different.
For now, for my needs, this works and has been solved - thanks!

  • Importing ansi date time format into diadem

    Hi,
I have an ANSI data log txt file with the time channel format  30/03/2006 15:51:08.846 and i am trying import into DIADEM  using the date/time format dd/mm/yyyy hh:nn:ss.fff , but when the file is imported, the time channel cells appear as NO VALUE. Can anybody help please ?
    AdeK

    Hi Adek,
Here is a DataPlugin which loads your data file into DIAdem 10.2.  There are a number of advantages to using a DataPlugin over the ASCII Import Wizard, so long as your data files follow a similar data file structure.  To register the DataPlugin, just detach the ZIP file, unzip the URI file within, then double-click on the URI file in Windows Explorer.  After that, you will be able to load your TXT data files by dragging&dropping them directly from the NAVIGATOR tree view or Search Results into the Data Portal on the right hand side of DIAdem.  DataPlugins also support selective loading, register loading, reduced loading, and DataFinder indexing, so all of these immediately become available to you with your TXT files.  Note also that header lines 2-4 are now declared as both File and Group properties.
Ask if you have questions using the DataPlugin,

  • Import DW CS4 Personal Dictionary into CS5

Adobe tech support told me this cannot be done. My CS4 personal dictionary in a *.tlx file, contains hundreds of words I added during spell checking. Anyone have any idea to import these into DW CS5? Thanks.

If your presets have the .vpr extension, they are from PPro2 or earlier.
Encoding presets created in CS4 (either AME or Pr) has the .epr extension.
They are located in these two folders:
    C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\Presets
    C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\4.0\Presets
Unlike CS4, CS5 uses a single location for the encoding presets:
    C:\Users\*yourusername*\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\AME\5.0\Presets
Copy your presets created with CS4 (both AME and Pr) to the CS5 folder.
If I recall correctly, I had to re-create my .vpr presets from PPro2 to
.epr presets when I made the switch to CS4.

  • InDesign CS2 files showing as CS5

    Hi all,
I currently have CS2 and CS5 running on my computer.
Some of my files which were saved in CS2 are now showing as CS5 files, which means I can no longer open them using CS2.
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to make sure that CS2 files are not automatically chaneged?
    Thanks,
    Erin.

    Windows or Mac?
Mac will only show the most current version for all files. Windows will show the correct version via the icon.
In either case have a look at http://www.rorohiko.com/wordpress/2010/07/26/soxy-1-4-1-now-available/

  • Importing 16:9 DV format into i movie HD

I movie imports this material as 4:3 then either letter boxes it, or simply plays it back in 4:3. Despite actually saving the material as it should be in 16:9. The only way I know this is by force quitting during "letter boxing". The material not letter boxed, is actually 16:9 in the Trash.
Am I missing something here, or do apple not support 16:9 in DV.
Camera being used is Sony DCR-HC90E

When you open iMovie Project, you'll be asked to specify the applicable format. If you select "DV Wide Screen" your movie will be created using the 16:9 aspect ratio.
Of course should you play back the movie on a standard 4:3 aspect ratio TV, the picture will be "Letterboxed" in order to maintain the desired 16:9 format.
Just remember to select: DV Wide Screen!
    I hope this will help,
    Hank

  • Trying to import a weird table format into a tree like structure.

    Hi All,
    I am using NWDS 7.0.18
I am trying to use the Tree in a table element to organize some data I'm receiving from an rfc. The table im receiving looks a little like this:
    leaf1  |  leaf2 |  root  |  child1 |  child2  |
    00     |  ab    |   r      |  c1a    |  c1a_1  |
    00     |  cd    |   r      |  c1a    |  c1a_2  |
    01     |  ab    |   r      | c1b     |  c1b_1  |
    01     |  cd    |   r      | c1b     |  c1b_2  |
This table can grow and shrink in terms of children but the lowest child with data will always have leaves.
Now heres what I'm finding difficult. When I loop thru this table in Web Dynpro, when i get the first element with getElementAt(i), it returns the entire first row.
The wdInit method calls a custom method like this
    addLevelEntries(wdContext.nodeLEVEL(), "ROOT");
    And then later in onActionLoadChildren
    public void onActionLoadChildLevelEntries(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent, com.sjm.wdp.wdp.IPrivateTreeAppCompView.ILEVELElement element )
        //@@begin onActionLoadChildLevelEntries(ServerEvent)
        addLevelEntries(element.nodeCHILD_LEVEL(), element.getID());
        element.setChildrenLoaded(true);
        //@@end
but the problem is the child element Id's are in the same row as root element id!!!!
How can I, if possible, loop thru this table and add the relevant nodes in the correct places and then eventually add its leaves?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    P

//why not making use of the Search feature of this forum //
DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and made for any processing as editing...
for using the iLife apps, you have to convert'em first, in recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    Apple mpeg2 plugin (19$) + Streamclip (free)
    VisualHub (23.32$)
Drop2DV (free, requires installation of ffmpeg parts, google for it...)
    Cinematize >60$
    Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
Toast 6/7/8 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter

  • Can I export solid objects into Illustrator / InDesign CS2 and maintain vector format

Can Adobe 3D export solid objects in vector format into Illustrator or InDesign CS2 suite?
I'm interested in taking solid 3D objects developed in Pro/E 2.0 and import from Adobe 3D into Adobe Illustrator & InDesign in vector format for page layout. I want to import solid objects in vector format and maintain color scheme and surface textures.
I'm running 3D trial version and can successfully import 3D objects (asm & prt files) solid views from Pro/E but can only export wireframe views from Adobe 3D Toolkit into Illustrator or InDesign (CS2). Solid objects first have to get rendered in a raster format before importing into Illustrator.
If this function is not supported does anyone have experience doing this using Quadraspace or Right Hemisphere 3D software?

Any help???? After 2 weeks I still can't learn from Adobe or Right Hemisphere people how to import solid objects in vector format into Illustrator with color and surface textures in place. All imported objects in vector format are converted to a wireframe or line format unless they are first rasterized.

  • Importing single Excel columns into InDesign CS2 Tables?

Hi, I have an Indesign CS2 doc with existing tables. I need to import data from Excel...but I just want to import certain columns. It doesn't seem to cut and paste, as it would into a tabbed format in Indesign. Is there a way to do this? I don't want to import the whole table from Excel and go through all the formatting again.
    OS X Tiger Mac G5
    THANKS SO MUCH!!!

    Jenny,
InDesign CS3 supports what you want. In CS2, you can use
my PopTab shareware script. The name stands for "Populate Table From the Clipboard."

  • Import (and export) HTML text into a text frame (CS2)

    Hi
As I know it is not possible to import or export text in or from a text frame in HTML format directly.
    - Is there a way to do that?
    - If yes how can I do that? A piece of sample code would be great...
    - Actually I use this for Indesign CS2. Is the HTML import / export in CS3 possible?
    Thanks for the help
    Greetz
    Hans

Yup. There's no HTML parser built into InDesign.
Actually, GREP is not a great way to go about it. How would you handle nested tags with GREP? A state machine is a much better way to parse HTML. You might want to look around for Javascript parsers.
Rorohiko has an HTML walker. I'm not sure if it would help you or not.

  • Trouble Importing One JPEG into CS5

I am trying to import a 582 KB JPEG into PP CS5 but keep getting an alert saying "There is not enough memory to import the requested file(s)." Odd thing is that I have no problem doing so with other JPEGs, most of which are much larger. Why is that?
    Thanks!

While I don't think this is the error message you'd get, please open the .jpg in Photoshop and verify that it is RGB and not CMYK format. Also, re-save it to another format such as .PNG and see if it will open in Premiere then.
    Thanks
