Import into LR 5.5 or Raw 8.5 corrupts raw image from 5d Mrk iii

I am running Adobe LR 5.5 with Raw 8.5, shooting with canon 5d Mrk iii. When I import my images they become corrupt after image previews are completed.  The imgae thumbnail from the camera looks great until processed in LR or Bridge.  The corruption is visible lines of red, blue, green or yellow and sometimes covers the entire picture.

The image preview comes from the camera-embedded JPG at the beginning of the file.  The raw data is corrupted and LR shows you this corruption once it completes its processing.
Copy the images from the card, again, and see if they are corrupted exactly in the same way or not.
If the corruption is different from one transfer to the next then the corruption is occurring during or after the transfer.
If the corruption is identical between the two sets transferred from the card then the data on the card is most likely corrupted and so either the card or the camera is bad.
The card is usually the culprit but sometimes it's memory or hard-disk on the computer.

  • HT1473 It seems like many commercial music CDs won't import into iTunes (copy protection?), so you can only play them from the disc, not your other devices. Am I missing something?

More and more commercial music CDs won't seem to import into iTunes - they just spin, falter, and spit out. I would think I had a setting wrong except older CDs load with no problem. I'm guessing there's copy protection on the newer ones, which seems unfair if you want to, say, buy a CD that has bonus material not available via iTunes (and then have to buy the regular material again on iTunes). Is there a way around this? An easy fix so I can keep buying CDs when I want to? I know it's a technology that's on the way out, but it's not gone yet.

Audio CD copy protection is relatively rare. I doubt its use is on the increase as it would be just one more nail in CD's coffin. On the few occasions I've bought CDs that won't rip I've gone straight back to the store for a refund. If the drive is attempting to read at max. speed it might help to force it to read slower (if indeed you have that as an option) and it may help to switch the error correction mode.

  • I need to import raw images from canon Mark iii

how can I do this in 4? Do I need additional software?

Just received our 5DS Mark III and as I understand it you need LR4.1 RC2 to read the RAW files, downloading it now to give it a try.

    Hi,
Finally I made an update. I used download files from Adobe update pages (the same websites that were offline for few days), I couldn't do it automatically from PS CS5 application. Last problem is Adobe Extension update, can't do it automatically and manually becouse there are no update files for Adobe Extension CS5 for Windows (only for Mac). Most important is that my Camera Raw can open files from my cameras now. Thank You for your help.
Hey abdzi could you give a short explanation were you found which download files?? I have the same problem and realy need the Camera Raw update. Please!! Thank you

  • Installed Camera Raw update, still cannot access images from Canon G15

The download statement said it was upgraded but, when I tried opening the RAW files, there was still nothing accessible.

Buy Lightroom (much cheaper alternative to Photoshop) - does all your 'Photo-related' tasks. Full version of LightRoom 4 is $149/- - http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
LightRoom 4 supports ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 7. Once processed with Lightroom, if you still need, you could take the photo in JPG or TIFF format into Photoshop CS5 for further processing.
Another option is to use Canon Raw Codec that would've come with your camera's box to process the RAW images and then take them into Photoshop.

  • RAW NEF files imported into Aperture from a Nikon D70 are dark

I imported one roll of images straight from the CF card from my Nikon D70 into Aperture.
I also imported them into Nikon PictureProject. (the current application I use)
All the NEF's in Aperture are darker than the NEF's in PictureProject. Has anyone else seen this issue?
Also, any NEF that I have previously edited and saved in Nikon Capture Editor, do not display any of the changes when imported into Aperture. Interesting that the Finder shows the thumbnail correctly. Has anyone else seen this issue?
    Thanks, Scott K.

I've imported a few of the NEF files I've gotten from my D2X, and for the most part, they look fine. A little darker than when displayed in Adobe Bridge and ACR, but not that much darker. This is probably just the way the image converter is interpreting the RAW data. A couple of minor levels adjustments for me, and they look fine.
As for Aperture not "seeing" the changes made to a RAW file in Nikon Capture. That may be due to the way Capture applies its changes to the file. If when you make a change, Capture simply adds the adjustments to a side car file, etc., and doesn't change the original RAW file (which it should never do), then Aperture is only reading the original RAW data. The side car info is not understood by Aperture. At least not now.
This is pretty much the same way ACR works.

  • I need to share raw footage that is already imported into iMove, how do I do that?

I have raw footage imported into iMovie '11 that I need to beable to give to someone else, is this possible without first turning it into a project and exporting it that way?

Go to ~/movies/imovie/imovie events, then copy the files to a DVD or an external hard drive.

  • I am unable to import Raw still images from a Nikon D 80 into Premiere Pro cs 4. All jpeg images ok

I am unable to Import RAW still Images from a Nikon D 80 camera into
Premiere Pro. All jpeg images import Ok. A web search suggests I need "plug-ins" for RAW, but I can not find  same. Any suggestions as to how to inport RAW files to PP CS 4 would be appreciated. I have just updated from Premiere Elements 4 which had no problem importing RAW still images.

The way I see it (correct me if I'm wrong) but Raw is supposed to be where you have total editing control of the shot (as opposed to the camera). I believe the next step is to do the editing (i.e. color balance, exposure, etc) then make a regular image from that to use in whatever output you desire (print, web, etc.) Think of raw as the negative. Just being in raw doesn't in it self make it better.
Edit. This is from premiere help files....
Supported still‑image and sequence file formats
Adobe Premiere Pro supports 8-bit per-channel (4 bytes per pixel) and 16-bit per-channel (8 bytes per pixel) still-image files. It converts images with lower bit-depths to 8-bits per channel and images with higher bit-depths to 16-bits per channel on import. High bit-depth files are supported at one single-precision float per channel (16-bytes per pixel).

  • RAW Import into iPhoto 4 - are pixelated results permanent?

OK, I made a mistake. Imported photos from Nikon D100 into iPhoto 4 but didn't "recall" I had RAW quality set (usually JPEG-normal). When I did get to viewing the Import in detail, I saw to my chagrin that the images are pixelated.
Can anyone advise if the images are recoverable? (I couldn't get Nikon 5 to perform magic or Photoshop CS. I have ordered iLife 6 to upgrade iPhoto...).
    Thank you in advance.

    G4 Desk, G3 Pismo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I did a search for "embedded thumbnails in Nikon RAW format" and found discussions that indicated .NEF files contain a low-resolution thumbnail. Since RAW support was probably introduced in iPhoto 5 or 6, I'm betting that iPhoto 4 is "seeing" the embedded thumbnail.
I can't confirm this since I have iPhoto 6 only but maybe you could go to the file in your iPhoto library folder and double-click it (open in Preview). If the image is of high quality, then the file was imported but iPhoto can't read the RAW part.
Also look at the size. It should be huge - maybe over 5 or 6 MB depending on the camera's megapixel rating. 3x-5x the jpeg size. If that's the case and the file extension is .nef and not .jpg, you probably have the whole file and updating to iPhoto 6 will display RAW in all its glory. If the file size is tiny (make sure you're not looking at the thumbnail file that iPhoto creates independently) then it's possible iPhoto never imported the full image.
Do you still have the photos on your card?

  • RAW images are "locked"when imported into LR

I just got a new camera (Sony alpha 6000) and all my RAW images that I attempt to import into LR 4.4 are "locked" and therefore, cannot be imported.
When I click on the photo in my HD file and look at the "Get Info" the photo is not "locked".
Can't find any setting on my camera that shows the photo as "locked".  Anyone know if this is a LR problem or a Sony problem?
I have a Nikon D40 that has no problem uploading RAW images to my LR 4.4.
    Thanks for any help!!

Sony Alpha 6000 raw files require at least Lightroom 5.4.
You would need to upgrade Lightroom, or use the free Adobe DNG converter version 8.6 to convert your RAWs to DNG and then import those into Lightroom.

  • D750 raw files are noisy on import -  but not in DXO - or NX or even OnOne.    So I'm having to import into NX then export at tiff files.   Cost me sizable disk space and time.

poor imports on D750 raw files.. at iso 800 and above can't even use them.. however if I import into NX then export as tiff it works fine.
    Kelly

If you feel the D610 was doing ok in the same situation where the D750 was not, then upload and post both a D750 and a D610 NEF—taken under comparable conditions if possible.
Nikon software NX will export things with whatever NR the camera was set to.  DxO probably tries to optimnize both Sharpening and Noise-reduction, whereas Lightroom will process things in whatever way the Adobe defaults are set to, regardless of what the camera settings for NR were.
Is it possible you have different default Sharpen settings, or at least the Sharpen Mask increased, for the D610 but not for the D750?  The Mask slider will prevent relatively smooth areas with only noise as the detail from being sharpened.

  • How do I view movies using apple tv that have been imported into iMovie?

I am trying to view movies using a second generation AppleTV that I imported into my computer from my video camera using iMovie.  I tried importing them into iTunes after importing them with iMovie but it creates a second copy of the movie and I don't have room on my hard drive.  Can I view them on my Apple TV without importing them into iTunes?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
iMovie is an editing application, you import raw footage, edit it, export it and if you don't have a lot of room trash the original files. It is not intended to be used for finished movies.
Video footage for editing needs to be in a different format than it does for delivery, delivery formats (m4v etc) are highly compressed and take up considerabally less room than footage in an editing format.

  • After upgrading to MAC OS X 10.10.2 Lightroom 5 has an error that it cannot read the card when trying to import photos.  The card is fine as I can import into iPhoto so any ideas?

After upgrading to MAC OS X 10.10.2 Lightroom 5 cannot read the card (RAW files , converting to DNG) when importing.  The card is fine as I can import into iPhoto - any ideas?

It’s usually necessary to trash the prefs after updating OSX to Yosemite. Start by quitting Lightroom 5.
Launch Finder and click the Go menu whilst holding down the Option (alt) key. Then go to:
    Library >> Preferences
clear everything relating to LR5 which usually means deleting the following files:
    com.adobe.Lightroom5.plist
    com.adobe.Lightroom5LSSharedFileList.plist
    Then re-launch Lightroom.

  • Capturing with iMovie and importing into fce 4

Hi, everytime I try to capture mini dv footage from my Panasonic camcorder using final cut express, the transfer/capture crashes.
However, capturing using iMovie 08 gives me no problems at all.
Before I spend more time looking into the errors, if I capture using iMovie 08 and then import that into fce 4, am I losing any audio / video quality? I read somewhere that iMovie works off raw dv files - is this what would get imported into fce?
Note: I would import the iMovie project into fce and not be exporting first from iMovie and then importing into fce.
    thanks

My video is on mini-DV. The camera I used to record was a panasonic ag-dvx100 PAL. I am using DV-PAL easy setup. I am playing back with a panasonic nv-ds30 camcorder (I rented the other one).
I have now managed to get past the dropped frames - that seemed to have been the test tape. I am now using a different tape, the actual tape i used for the footage. Now everytime I capture (using either mark in/out or capture now) the capture stops with a locating timecode and then breaks. I can't seem to capture it all in one go. This scene when I shot it was a single scene so there were no stops/pauses during the recording.
There seemed to be some discussion on this in the thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4183209#4183209) but that was a different camera.
    any help would be great.
