Import Iphoto failed..... :(
Hey guys So I'm trying to import my Iphoto library into Aperture , and I keep getting a "import Iphoto Library Failed Insufficient Space on my Aperture Library. But there's nothing in there as I didnt add the preloaded projects. Then I made sure I had all the latest updates 10.4.3 iphoto 4.0.3 and so on.Then I deleted the Aperture Lib and the prefs reloaded and same issue again. Will continue to troubleshoot.Oh and I have 10 gigs free on the Hd as well
Thanks for your imput,
Dax
You are indeed running out of space. The solution is to manually import bit by bit deleting files from the iphoto library as you go. alternately you could do everything on an external

Import from iphoto fails every time.
Import from iphoto fails every time.
It should not be a serious flaw, since this something that you only do ONCE. You don't want to use both organizer and iphoto. You'll have two sets of photos with no knowledge of each other. Import from iphoto is not meant to be a regular use item, only for the one time after you've decided organizer is what you prefer. It's fine to make a small test catalog while you decide whether iphoto or organizer suits you better, but to keep on using both is going to make you crazy in short order.

IPhoto fail to import some pictures
Hi,
Just came back from a long vacation with around 600 pictures (I have a Nikon D70). After importing all of them directly in to the iPhoto application, it gives me the following error message, for 126 specified photos: ”unreadable files - the following file could not be imported”
All the rest of the pictures have been imported sucessfully as usual.
I have tried to put the JPGs that can not be imported on my desktop and I can see them fine in the preview program. However, when trying to import them into the iPhoto application from the desktop, I get the same error message. The relevant pictures have not been added to the iPhoto library in the finder either, so that can not be the cause for the error message
Can anyone tell me how I would be able to get these ”lost” pictures into my iPhoto???Hi,
I have just purchased a Nikon D70S myself and have tried importing my photo's into iPhoto. I get the same error as you - iPhoto fails to import some photo's and I get the same error message. Have you been able to reslove this or does anyone know the answer? -
Smart Folder Bug: Iphoto fails to match using 'filename' filter
Hi, this issue has popped up here:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6008267
and here:
http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22401
though I've yet to find an answer.
Briefly, the problem:
When using a smart album with a 'filename' filter, iphoto fails to produce a match when it should. Interestingly, I have some of my photo's included from their current location (simply a folder structure on my mac) and others imported directly into iphoto, so are directly in the library. Now, those photo's that are included from their current location are correctly indexed, and the smart folder provides correct matches (e.g. all filenames that contain '.jpg'). However, none of the photo's that reside in iphoto's own library are present with the example filter above.
I'm not sure how much this topic has been bashed, but this is definitely an iphoto issue, and an irritating one! (Yep, I've rebuilt the library too)
Thoughts?Tom
Thoughts?
Here's one:
I have some of my photo's included from their current location (simply a folder structure on my mac) and others imported directly into iphoto, so are directly in the library.
Running a mixed library, where iPhoto is managing some of the files and you are managing the others, is a recipe for data loss. When there's complexity in managing the data, mistakes will occur.
That said: this could be a damaged db file.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Issues importing iPhoto Library
I have imported my iPhoto library into Aperture 3. The import must have failed because only some made it over. I chose to leave the photos in their current location. How can I do a fresh import and get the rest of the files imported (still leaving them in their current location) and not get duplicates of those already imported?
I understand what you want to say - I think - our disagreement is whether what you are complaining about is a bug or a feature, and if a feature, if it is good design or broken design .
I am not looking for Aperture to detect and reject similar files, but bit-identical images imported on separate occasions.
But when are two files identical image versions? Most users would expect two copies of the same images in two different locations on the disk to be treated as duplicates - you obviously do. And as you say, it could easily be checked, if two bitmaps are identical. The problem is conceptually:
Are two files with the same bit pattern in two different locations the same image or two similar images? Aperture does not see the history of the files. It cannot know if one image was copied from the other or if you created two similar looking images, that are de facto different images. As soon as you are dealing with copies of files you are raising the question of similarity - it is no longer an identity test.
I sometimes have images that are similar in all pixels but not duplicates of the same images. Those are images created by animation software visualizing data, and I would not want two similar images with identical bitmaps but belonging to different experiments to be treated as identical images.
Are identical twins the same person - everyting the same, only name and location differ?
Furthermore, sharing master files should not be a big problem since master files are just that: masters.
As long as you remember that you are sharing the masters. If you relocate masters in Aperture you will be stealing iPhoto's masters; if you delete an image in Aperture or iPhoto you may delete a master that is used by the other Application, if you batch change your images in Aperture and select "apply to masters" you are changing the master image files. I would not risk it, but it is up to you.
Try it: import from iPhoto, and then import again. Even with duplicate detection, you get images twice.
True
Lets talk about the different ways to import to iPhoto.
When you drag from the iPhoto Browser there is no way to turn on "Do not import duplicates", so no promises made and no promises broken - no bug, but maybe a bad feature.
When you import an iPhoto Library, there is the checkbox "Do not import duplicates", and this is ignored - you are perfectly right . But we still disagree - I consider the presence of the checkbox to be the bug - a bug in the GUI, not the import of the duplicates - for what do you expect to happen, when you import a library? It does not make any sense at all to import a library structure and omit some images, only because they are alredy present in the library you are importing to. Aperture would have to merge the newly imported iPhoto library with your current library, but for that we would need a "Merge Library" option, not an import option. This would have a big impact on your existing library structure, but might be useful, so make a feature request to Apple.... (Aperture menu -> Send feedback)
Just try dragging a file in twice. No warning, no message, no annotation.
Again, this is a feature (maybe a bad one), but not a bug, since no promises are made that you will be prevented from dragging in duplicate images.
Make a feature request ...
This is not hard to accomplish, and it is done by other software.
I like not to be bothered with warning messages when I am dragging carefully selected images to Aperture that I want to import, then I want those images together in one project, independent of potential duplicates, and I do not want to be bothered with warning messages while I am dragging ...
Cheers

Some Import Operations failed to perform. The following files could not be imported because they could not be read....(then all the files that I checked do not get imported
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

IMovie 08 hangs while trying to import iPhoto movies at the start.
Hi guys,
When I open Imovie 08, it asks me to import iphoto movies. Then it stays there for ages and never ends importing those movies. I know I can just skip this process but I want to edit those videos from iPhoto.
I guess is some corrupted file it is trying to import what is causing this incident but I have no idea how to tell which is the "bad" file since iMovie doesn't give any information about it.
Any clues?
Thanks in advenceHi,
I wouldn't say I have such a lot of movies in Iphoto but deffintely they are quite a few... anyway, I suspect it will never end because the timer gets bigger and bigger; and yes I left it running overnight with no luck.
Is there any way to see in which video is iMovie having the problem? The other workarround means having to backup and delete videos randomly until I find "the bad one".
Cheers. -
Can't import iPhoto Library - Aperture 1.5.2 & iPhoto 6.0.5
I have tried searching the Aperture discussions for a solution, and have only found one useful topic from July 2006:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303438
However, it states this was a partial solution with Aperture 1.0 & iPhoto 6.0.1 or 6.0.2, and would be resolved in Aperture 1.1. We're up to Aperture 1.5.2 now, and I'm unwilling to uninstall iPhoto and revert back to 6.0 to try this solution. I have a SLOOOOW workaround (batch export original file at original size & format from iPhoto to temp hard drive folder, then import from file to Aperture), and have even tried working on an Automator script (not yet successful). Does anyone else have this problem?
FYI, the symptoms are: in Aperture File > Import > iPhoto Library... Selected iPhoto Library folder, Store Files in their current location, and click "Choose". The popup window closes, but nothing happens. No spinning beach ball, no error message, nothing.
Thanks for any help or insights.
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAMHey Suydam.
I am having the EXACT same issues and it is driving me insane.
I have been searching and searching for an answer and nothing.
there is this thread here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4311146
where the person found a solution but it just seems rather tedious to do.
I am hoping I can find an answer.
I see you posted this back in Feb. Was wondering if you found a solution.

Upgrading Stellent 7.5 to OCS 10gR3 Import Process failing HELP NEEDED
Hi,
I am upgrading Stellent 7.5 to Oracle COntent Server 10gR3. Here is what I have done.
1. Migrated all the configuration from Stellent to 10gR3
2. Migrated the Folders from Stellent to 10gR3
3. Migrated the content by creating an Archive and then importing the Archive in 10gR3.
I am seeing lot of errors in the log file. Following are the errors I see in the log file.
1.

2.

7.
Import error for archive 'ProductionContent' in collection 'prod_idc': Aborting. Too many errors.
QUESTIONS:
Is there a way to keep the import processing running even if the errors are coming. As it looks like when there are too many errors the import process stops in the middle.
How do I find out the total number of folders and the documents. As I want to run the same query on Stellent 7.5 and find out total number of folders and the documents and then run the same query on 10gR3 and compare the results. Just want to fnd out how much content is imported.
How do I run the import process over again as half of the content is imported and my import process failed in the middle when running the process over again what settings do I need to provide to make sure no duplicates get created etc.
Any help is really appreciated.
ThanksHi
There are a couple of ways to get around the issues that you are facing such that import process is not interrupted because of these. They are as follows :
1. Use ArchiveReplicationException component . This will keep the import process running and make a log of the failed process which can be used for assessing / gauging the success of the import and what all needs to be redone.
I would suggest this as the option for your case.
2. Put the config variable for arciver exception to 9999 so that the archive process stops only after hitting the limit of 9999 errors.
I would suggest to go for step 1 as that would be a much more foolproof and methodical way of knowing what all items have failed during import.
Thanks

Importing iPhoto files onto an iPhone 3G using iTunes question....
New! Importing iPhoto files onto an iPhone 3G with iTunes question
Posted: Aug 14, 2008 9:07 AM Reply Email
So letme get this striaght...
You first create an album in iPhoto 08 with just the images you want put onto your iPhone 3G.
NEXT: you connect tou iPhone 3G and iTunews will open. You go to the iPhone in iTunes and select the photo tag and then select the album you had made for import and sync it with you iPhone. Will large image files automatically be resized for use on the iPhone 3G?
Most of my .JPG files are from 4 -5 MB each in size. What will it do with a RAW image file?I am not 100% sure, but i BELIEVE that they do get resized because as it's syncing with the iPhone, iTunes will state that it is optimizing the selected photos for the iPhone, just like we would see for the iPod.

Import Wizard fails to export - object could not be written in the ids-file
Hello,
the complete export of the BO environment into a biar-file with the import wizard fails. In the wizard's dialog every option is choosen as "all". When the export is started it stops already in the folder objects. The log file says the object allocation could not be written in the ids-file. So I presume a problem with references.
In order to figure out which object is responsible for the error I varied the export and finally identified the "repository objects" as the the responsible type of objects. When I now run the export and only use the needed repository objects it works fine.
But I don't know, if export is complete (I presume it).
Has anyone a idea what the reason can be for this problem? Can it be fixed in the database? This kind of export did work fine the week before.
thanks, matthiasCould you quote the entire error message, word-for-word, verbatim? What Import settings are you using ... Copy, Move, Add?
Most likely you have a permissions issue, but it will be much more clear to me if I can see the entire message. -
Importing changlist failed: unknown error has occured
Hello,
while importing a changelist from mas-test to mas-prod-system I get
error in transport service:
Importing changelist failed: unknwon error has occured, trying to reconnect.
I reinstalled the service, connections are ok, but this didn't solve the probelm.
What I have seen is that in the tile set 'imported changelist to be released'
my released changelist is about 25 times there - I think that is not normal.
Does anybody know where the problem could be ?
Thanks GerdHi Gerd,
I don't know how to solve that particular issue but as a workaround I suggest to manually export and import the CL.
In 4.0 use these commands:
1. Export
Transport.exe /DBDars_db /DBUarsadmin /DBP /EXPexport /DIR"C:\temp" /CIDXX43748642B841409C5F03XXXXXXXXXX
where:
/DBD = Dsn of DB
/DBU = Administrator user(ARSAdmin)
/DBP = Password
/EXP = Operation(either export or import)
/DIR = Path to save the files to(during export) as well as path from where to pick up the CLs from(during import)
/CID = ChangelistID to be exported/imported
2. Import
Transport.exe /DBDars_db /DBUarsadmin /DBP /EXPimport /DIR"C:\temp" /CIDXX43748642B841409C5F03CXXXXXXXXX
If you are on .net use the Import / Export Manager. If you need that tool please contact me directly.

Aperture import iPhoto library, no duplicates
Merging iPhoto libraries into a single Aperture library risks duplicate images. Multiple iPhoto libraries might contain the same image.
According to the online manual there is a command 'File > Import > iPhoto Library' that would allow the 'Do not import duplicates' option. This command does not seem to exist in the current version of Aperture.
This may be a way to do this -
Right or control click on the iPhoto library to 'Show Package Contents'. Move the Masters folder out of the package.
In Aperture, click the Import arrow icon and navigate to the Masters folder. This allows selection of the 'Do not import duplicates' checkbox.
Then perhaps run Duplicate Annihilator on the Aperture library. Use the option to label any duplicates and originals. Flag the originals and search for keywords 'original' and 'duplicate' to verify.
Any comments on this - will it work?Merging iPhoto libraries into a single Aperture library risks duplicate images. Multiple iPhoto libraries might contain the same image.
The recommended procedure to merge iPhoto libraries using Aperture is described here:
Aperture 3.3: How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries
You will need the current Aperture 3 version - at least Aperture 3.3. and open all your iPhoto libraries in iPhoto 9.3 or later at least once.
Merging libraries is preferable to simply importing the "masters" folder - this way you will be able to save all your work - edits, tagging, albums, etc.
If you move the "Masters" folder from your iPhoto library, you may corrupt the library, and by importing only the originals and not the edited versions, all your work done in iPhoto will be lost.
If you have Duplicate Annihilator, you can still run it afterwards to check, if duplicates are remaining after merging. The "Merge" will only look for perfect duplicates - similar filename, similar size.

It says network link is active when I test the network link to make sure its connectivity. I create the network link as a system account. I'm trying to do an import from an Oracle database 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.1. My 10g database is on ms windows 2003x64 while my 11g database is on OEL 5.4x64.
What should I do for now?
Thank you.
Edited by: user12144220 on Nov 4, 2012 5:02 AMIt will be wise to run the Oracle supply streams health check script to check your existing streams environment.
From the result, you can also open a tar with Oracle to see if they can help you with the setup.
In addition to the ORA-01403 error, you can also run some of the Oracle Streams packages (Managing Apply Errors) to see the full detail of what is missing that caused the Ora-01403 error.
I will also try to implement a smoke test using the simple heartbeat table suggested by Oracle Streams, if that is working, then you can begin your full scale setup in your environment knowing that the base Streams Structure is setup correctly.
