Import Keynote 4.0 (iWork08) to FPC

I am unable to import the Quick Time file exported by Keynote IF the Keynote file is exported with recorded timing. This new Keynote feature that allows narration over clicked slides must mess with the export.
When imported to the FCP browser they show no file duration and deliver an error message when dragged to the timeline.
However these files do play beautifully in the Quicktime viewer.
When exported from Keynote with the MPEG-4 format for streaming the streaming server also gives an error message saying file type not recognized.
Has anyone else experience this difficulty? Suggestions would be appreciated.
Stephen

Thanks for your input on this.
So far the only change that seems to make a difference is selecting Fixed or Manual playback which of course is not acceptable.
I have tried many combinations in exporting:
Some of them:
Compression types: H.264, MPEG-4, DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
Key frames - every 24
comporessor - best
mix audio - AAC
I tried setting the key framming to all as you suggested. I don't have Streamclip so tried converting with QT Pro to a DV format.
Still no luck.
I have re-exported from QT Pro to a DV format.

When I import presentations from mac to ipad I put them first on ipad thorough itunes when the ipad is connected, then from the keynote app I import the presentations. After can I delete the presentations from itunes? and if i don't will they occupy double the space on my ipad?

Keynote files are not contained in iTunes

  • I can't import Keynote files into my iPad from MobileMe

Firstly, I have spent an hour or two on the web and on these forums trying to solve my problem. My goal is this: I want to open presentations on my iPad that I created on my Mac Pro. Simple enough? But every time I try to open any presentation (I store all my data files on MobileMe) I get the error "Presentation couldn't be imported. Keynote only supports documents created with iWork '09." That error message must be wrong on several levels. Firstly, today I downloaded the latest version of Keynote from the App Store for Mac. And it goes without saying I have Keynote for iPad. Why then does Keynote for iPad refuse to import any Keynote for Mac files. My files are simple: two lines of text and two images. Another thing that's wrong with the error message is that just before the error I get "Downloading 10KB of 4.0GB". but my file isn't 4GB, it's 1MB. Is the latest version of Keynote on the Apple App Store for Mac OS X not current? Do I actually have to go buy a box set of iWork to be able to access my files from my iPad? Isn't the App Store's Keynote good enough? What could I possibly be doing wrong?

Hello MiniMe2. I am steaming just like you and my iPad lost the magic, I am looking at it right now with dissapointment, not taking it as serious tool but as some sort of paper weight, nice toy. I would advise you to save your presentations using Tools/Share Print/Send to iTunes menu items in Keynote presentation. That is what I have been doing ever since, but recently I am not able to bring back some of my presentations from iTunes even know I have had using them numerous times in the past. Error message: "Presentation couldn't beimported." So I cannot give you this advice. Can you imagine the horror? Iam up front of people who depend on my presentation and I cannot bring it up.So I did half *** presentation using my own unreliable memory. I am sure that my audience and my boss were not impressed, extent of damage could be even looking for new job, but you think Apple cares laughing all the way to the bank?

  • Fail to import Keynote 09 presentation to Keynote for iPad

Up to now, I did not manage to import a presentation to Keynote for iPad. I already tried to simplify the presentation as much as possible (changed font to Arial, removed background, compressed embedded pictures). The presentation runs smoothly in Keynote 09 but as soon as I try to open it on the iPad, I get an error message "Unknown error". Does anybody experience the same issue? Any ideas how to proceed?
Thanks in advance - I really appreciate any hint as I love the iPad and using my presentations on it is a core application for me.
    Thomas

Thomas!! Great to see you here, as I was looking into this exact problem! My sig other got it working after having this issue for a while:
She was able to succeed simply by opening the keynote file on her Mac, then doing a 'save as' to get a fresh copy and a new name. Note that we tried just copying the file to a new location first without success.
Importing the fresh file worked perfectly. Hope this helps you and others... Hope all's well with you! =)
    Cheers!

  • Is anyone having issues importing Keynote presentation from imac to ipad?

    Hi There,
I paid a company to do a presentation for me,  it was created in powerpoint, i downloaded Keynote for mac to import it into keynote on ipad,
problem is that it does not recognise some of the fonts and the sizing is different, the base layout is quite good and it works for us.
any thoughts on how to fix?

You can turn on iCloud on both devices to share the document "in the Cloud".

  • Is there a way to import keynote onto iAd Producer projects?

Hi, guys i was just wondering is there a way of importing my Keynote files onto iAd producer project?

It shouldn't crash but it could be that your library has some user-agent detection that's going awry when running in an unknown browser.
You can always use the HTML5 WebAudio API to go beyond simple audio file playback.

I'm trying to import a slide from keynote to use in imovie.  How do I go about this?

(I'm just guessing, I haven't tried this myself)

    sure ..

demoes the usage of Keynote with iMovie.
you can use 'animated' presentations or single 'charts' as jpegs ..

    two options:
    • prepare the still in some 'paint'-app, demoed here:

  • Settings for importing keynote content to 16:9 anamorphic DV project in FCE

Hello, I've tried searching the support forums, but unfortunately didn't find the answer to my question and maybe I was just not searching for the right terms. Anyhow this is what I would like to do:
I would like to create a keynote presentation and export this to a QuickTime movie, which I then could import into Final Cut Express as a title and bumper between certain scenes.
Now my problem is that even if I specify the appropriate anamorphic PAL size 720×576 pixels and then export the movie, all seems well, until I import that movie into FCE4 and add it to my timeline.
It is there that the file will look stretched on the X Axis. I am obviously doing something wrong. I am a total beginner with FCE 4 and still have so much to learn...
thanks in advance for your help and sorry if I overlooked an answer...

I found that 1024 x 576 did the trick for me. It also seems that Apple suggests this particular resolution when taking your Final Cut Express footage for use in iDVD as 16:9, which isn't always recognized (regretfully)

So works for me and a big thank you for everyone, who helped.

  • Importing Keynote 3 (QuickTime) Files

I found that when I export a Keynote (Version 3) file to
Flash, I loose a whole lot of functionality, namely motion. Has
anyone attempted to import a Keynote (Version 3) file, that was
saved as a QuickTime file, into FLASH? If so, did you experience
any degredation from the original Keynote file? Or did Flash
maintain all the functionality from the original Keynote file?

none of that is supported, just plain flat video MOV files
    from quick time, nothing
    else.

  • Importing Keynote slides into Pages

I'm new to a Mac. I'm doing a copy and paste of Keynote slides into a Pages document. The quality of the slide image is very poor when printed. I've done this many times before in Windows (with PPT and Word) and the quality is very high. I thought it might be the slide template I chose but then tried several others and the quality is still poor. Anybody have any suggestions?

    Briarlynn
Why not check what it is you are getting when you copy and paste?
Is the entire slide being rasterised to a bitmap?
What resolution is the original slide and is it being changed when you copy and paste.
More to the point is how are you printing the final Pages document?
If you are going to .pdf file first and there is transparency, reflections or shadows then that will be rasterised to a low 72dpi thanks to Apple's bad settings in OSX's ColorSync filters.
If the Keynote images look fine in Pages even when you zoom in on them, then the problem very likely is the ColorSync filters.

  • Import keynote to imovie

    Hi
I would like to do keynote slides with animation and put them in an imovie.
What is the best format to export from keynote to retain the animations in imovie?
    Thanks

I don't know whether this is the same for an earlier version of Keynote, but according to Keynote Help (from iWork 8), you export as a quicktime movie:
    +Creating a QuickTime Movie+
+You can turn your slideshow into a QuickTime movie that includes all animated transitions and object builds.+
+You can create an interactive movie that viewers can advance at their own pace, or you can create a self-playing movie, with transitions and builds timed just as you set them.+
+To create a QuickTime movie of your slideshow:+
+Choose File > Export and then click QuickTime.+
+Choose an option from the Playback Uses pop-up menu:+
+Manual Advance: Viewers advance through the slideshow by clicking the mouse or Play (in the QuickTime controls), or by pressing the Space bar on the keyboard.+
+Hyperlinks Only: Viewers advance through the slideshow by clicking hyperlinks.+
+Recorded Timing: If you recorded your slideshow (as described in Adding Narration), your slideshow movie plays using the timing you recorded.+
+Fixed Timing: Viewers can’t control how the slideshow advances; the slideshow plays using the timing you specify in the next step.+
+If you choose Fixed Timing, specify how long slides appear and how long it takes to complete object builds by typing values in the Slide Duration and Build Duration fields.+
+Slide Duration: How long each fully built slide remains on the screen after the last object build is complete.+
+Build Duration: The number of seconds between the beginning of one build stage and the next in each object build. There is no delay between the moment a slide first appears on the screen and the first stage of an object build.+
+If you choose Fixed Timing, you can choose an option from the Repeat pop-up menu:+
+None: The slideshow plays only once.+
    +Loop: The slideshow plays continuously.+
+Back and Forth: The slideshow plays through forward, then backward to the beginning, and so on.+
+To make the slideshow appear on the whole screen rather than in a window, select “Enter full screen mode when opened.”+
+Choose a playback quality and file size from the Formats pop-up menu:+
+Full Quality, Large: Preserves the best playback quality, but these movies are large and are therefore more difficult to transfer through email or the web.+
Then, place that QuickTime movie into your iMovie.

  • Import keynote presentation into iWeb?

I was thinking about adding a keynote presentation onto my web page as a slide show. Is this possible?
    Thanks!

You CAN add a Keynote presentation into iWeb (exported as a QuickTime movie), you just have to be aware of some minor issues. One of the issues you'll run into you can see on this page.
    http://web.mac.com/makentosh/iWeb/tipsfromtheiceberg/Blog/9BD2E7B5-AE3D-4698-A7F 7-CB8155D7AAC9.html
Depending on the speed of your connection, if it starts playing early, it will do the first slide over and over until the full thing has been downloaded. Give it a try and post back here or in the Keynote discussions if you have any problems.
