Import live video hvr v1e

How to import live video with a HVR V1E.
In the "old days" it worked fine in FC but not in FCPX?
Is there a work around some way?

I thought you must be doing something wrong until I tried with my Canon HV20.
I got a beautiful image in the Import window, but upon trying to capture, I received the message stating the camera could not be controlled.
I have used my Datavideo DA-100 A/V converter to import live TV programmes and DVDs etc. when connected to a TV or DVD player.
Back to importing from a camera  ..............  the latest FCP X Help Manual contains this cryptic tip on page 32 after showing how you can import from an iSight camera.
I've looked in QT Player Help but cannot find out what it is referring to.
Anyone else got any ideas?

  • Can't import live video from Sony PD 170.

    Just got Final Cut Pro X. In a New Event I am able to import live video from the new MacBook Pro computer's built-in camera and pre-recorded video from my Sony PD-170 camera. However, when trying to import live video from the PD-170, the program only APPEARS to do so--the clips never show up once I close the import window. Any suggestions?

    I think iMovie is corrupted. I would like to try to uninstall iLife 11 but when I put in the disc there is no uninstall option. I tried trashing iMovie from applications and reinstalled all of iLife (I believe wasted space on my HD) but the issue remains. (Maybe because I didn't delete the receipts?) iMovie can not see any devices or use iSight for capture...

  • How to import live video

    how to import a live show form a video camera as a live video to mac or PC like final cut pro or imovie on a computer

    This topic has been aroundfor a decade and there is one thing we've learned from hundreds of similar posts:  do not reoly on the captured video in your computer to be your only copty of the program. Drives fail. Clients trip over power cords. Firewire is a non-locking connection, totally unreliable. Even in the days of ultrareliable videotape, we oftne ran a VHS protection copy off a video/audio loop.
    Have a tape or chip backup recording of your video feed.

  • Is the a mod to be able to import live video from a DSLR?

    I know DSLR's aren't meant to be used for recording live straight to pc, but I was wondering if anyone knew of some 3rd party software either for the camera or a mod for PrPro that would allow you to stream the footage and record it.  I'm trying to record our church services and all I have is a Canon t3i.  I've found software that let me record straight to pc but the framerate is inconsistent.  I'm running CS6 on a windows 7 machine.

    First issue is, you're not going to transfer "live" HD video via USB 2.0 connection. You can transfer files after the recording, but not usually during.
    Second, there are capture cards such as BlackMagic Intensity or Matrox MXO2 Mini that will accept an HDMI input and capture high-quality live video to the PC. However, many DSLR cameras, even though they have an HDMI output, will put out a non-standard signal. Meaning it is cropped, or perhaps has some viewfinder info overlays in the picture which can not be turned off in the menu, making the HDMI output unsuitable for recording. This has been a huge problem for DSLR film makers that want to use external recording devices like the Atomos Ninja 2. Some of the newer DSLRs can now output a proper, recordable signal, after much complaing from customers.
    Bottom line, money is always a factor, but a DSLR is the last camera I would ever try to use for long-form events. There has to be something you can borrow or buy cheap second-hand, meaning a camcorder. But even then, you need some kind of capture card to get the live video into the computer, unless using a DV or HDV camera and then you can use 1394 (Firewire) into computer. DSLRs are just not practical for a lot of video tasks, sorry.

  • Importing live video/audio into Premiere Pro 5.5???

    Hey everyone,
    I am starting a Youtube channel and I am using a video camera with a seperate mic hookup, I was wondering if there is a way to hookup the camera to the computer and display the feed into Premiere Pro. In addition the files from the camera would go into a folder I would designate for all my premiere files. obviously it is not necessary, I could simply record and then transfer the file to my computer then import into premiere but I was hoping I could combine all the steps into one
    Any suggestions?
    Would camtasia or another software be more useful?
    Does anyone else have suggestions for possible easier ways to setup this up even if not involving premiere?

    A camcorder with a firewire output connected to Premiere will allow the capturing of the live feed from the camera (assuming that the computer has a firewire connector.)
    For capturing HD direct from a camera will need a Blackmagic card / box (or similar from another manufacturer).
    I have captured SD video via firewire, so that works, but never HD - even though I have a BM intensity pro card.

  • Help importing live video from DV deck?

    Ok so I have a JVC DV firewire deck.
    I have a old school vcr hooked up to the deck. The deck will convert the vcr output to DV output
    without actually recording the signal.  SO with the last version of iMovie I would choose import
    the DV deck is recognized. I would than start the VCR inputing into the DV deck and could see
    the VCR tape being played in the input window of iMovie I would than record through iMovie
    and end up with an event. WIth this version of iMovie I still see the video being played in the import
    window but when i hit the input button it doesnt actually record the video being streamed as if its
    waiting for me to hit the transport controls in the deck. Is there a way to revert back to the last version of iMovie where
    this was not a problem?  Also how do you designate in which of 5 different hard drives I have where I want an event stored?

    Cool, I can see me using this - need to properly test with http://b-l-a-c-k-o-p.com/CamCamX.html#upgrade
    this allows you to choose video sources to play - so i'm betting it will allow video cameras to be used - so it ought to be possible to do live demos/illustrate slides with 3d objects etc ... cool - suspect voice syncing still might be an issue. And KN record doesn't work properly if you have a live movie - it just shows the camera content that's live ... (if you follow me...)
    PS Almost forgot - it will do one of the things I was so desperate to achieve: It would allow you to have a window on the screen with a live feed of a signer for those who use BSL and other sign languages - that's really important. And if you needed to you could use two projectors (see other thread on multiple screens) and put the signer on a nicely designed screen all of their own. WOW!!!

  • Import Live Video into LabVIEW

    I am an electrical engineering working on my senior project at Western New England College. I am working with a small team building a quadrotor UAV and part of my task is to add some image processing to the craft. I have the algorithm to do the processing but I am not sure how to import the images into LabVIEW. We are using a FlyCamOne3 camera on the UAV and transmitting the images back through a 5.8 GHz transmitter and want to take the video from the receiver into LabVIEW. We do not have a large budget so I was hoping I could use a standard capture card to read the video in and pass it to LabVIEW. I read that the device needs to be DirectShow compliant but I do not know what that means exactly. The reading I did indicated that DirectShow is a piece of software from Microsoft and not a part of the hardware. Our team plans to run all of the code on a laptop so the capture card would have to be USB, firewire, or ethernet. I would really appreciate any help finding an appropriate capture card for this application or some other solution to the problem.
    Thanks for your help
    Tyler

    I have spent a good part of the day searching for firewire, ethernet, and USB 2.0 capture cards without having much success. It appears that the options on that front are fairly limited and I was having a hard time confirming that the options I found would be DirectShow compliant. I finally found an older thread on this forum which suggested to use a video to firewire converter however. I managed to find Video-to-USB converter which converts from an RCA video to USB and the documentation claims it has a driver for LabView. Is there any way to tell if this would be compatible with newer version of LabView? I am concerned that the hardware is about 5 years old and if things have changed substantially in the way LabView aquires the image then it may not be compatible anymore.
    Thanks,
    Tyler

  • Mid 2011 mbp i7 with a SSD has problems, including grey screen/blue screen/beeping/freezing when I stream live video (i.e. watch espn or time warner cable) Help? Ideas?

    Recently my Macbook Pro (June 2011, i7, 8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, AMD Radeon 6750, Mountain Lion - since July - currently 10.8.2) has been presenting me with an array of problems, usually initiated when I am streaming live video. I was streaming Time Warner Cable on 12/9 and it gave me what looked like the blue screen of death.  It started up after about five attempts that time. The other day, after about a week of not using the computer, it wouldn't boot past the grey screen. I (option) started it and it gave me two boot choices, the regular HD and a "10.8 restore" option.  The HD gave me the grey screen and the restore option gave me the dark blue screen. I reset PRAM and that didn't work.  After a force (x) start it worked.  Today, I was using "Watch ESPN" and the screen froze and the computer did some kind of repeating RAM beep or something.  I rebooted and it started up fine.  I'm not watching any videos anymore, but this is a problem since the primary purpose for my mbp is video editing. I'm still under AppleCare but I find more solid answers in the forums or at least better questions for the AppleCare people.
    Anybody have similar experiences, or a solid idea of what the heck has happened to my machine?

    I'm not really sure what method that person was talking about. I just read he had a successful install so I posted it.
    But I'll hazard a guess
    1. copy your entire drive to a backup drive
    2. boot into that drive and test it out - make sure its a flawless backup, it works, and the hard drive has no problems
    3. eject that drive, disconnect it and reboot into the leopard install dvd
    4. erase your main hard drive using disc utilities on the leopard install dvd -- you've made a backup, made sure that backup was good, and disconnected it so it's currently safely disconnected from the leopard install you're about to do. Also, on the hard drive you're erasing and installing leopard on to, many people recommend "Zeroing" it as well as erasing it. That option is part of the erase function in disc utilities on the leopard install disc.
    5. do a clean install of leopard
    6. follow step 4 from that original post exactly as that person described to do.
    7. read the rest of what they said
    That's pretty much it. With the backup/erase/clean install/import/ you pretty much get everything you need exactly the way you want it with very few things missing -- and you've done this over a clean install. Plus that poster did mention that you can select what you want to import from your backup hard drive.
    It sounds like its a "clean install" method that gives you control via "import from machine" option in the installer. Control over what parts of your "old mac" you want to import into your "new leopard mac".
    Hopefully that helps. It sounds more involved, but its actually pretty quick and provides you with a perfectly save backup in case anything goes wrong with the leopard install.

  • Live Video Plays Locally But Remotely Only Skin Is Visible

    Hi Guys,
    I have tested other embedded videos and they will play remotely so I know the hosting site is working.   Can anyone please look and tell me what I can try to make the vid work?   Currently, the live video will play locally and remotely from this computer where all the files are stored but only the skin is visible on any other remote computer's web browser.
    I will post any info you ask for.   I have been working on this forever.   Please, someone who is good at this help me?
    Here are my files look (I can't figure out how to blow this up larger - can you see it?):
    I will try whatever you suggest.
    Chris
    The Adobe Dreamweaver Tech Support said to post here and that the Expertise Team (you I suppose) would figure it out.  I am running Windows 7 64-bit OS.
    My live video is being broadcast by Adobe Flash Media Encoder to Adobe Flash Media Server 4 and inserted into Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver Support watched me re-create the Flash file and import into Dreamweaver and we looked at it for hours together. In the end, they suggested I post here because we could not figure it out / it is not supported. Ideas?   Can I provide any other helpful info?

    Most likely it's a URL problem. What the player is looking for is the remote URL to the server... not "localhost" or some other address on your local machine.
    So when you config the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder, there is a dialog box asking for FMS URL:
    Your remote URL will look something like this:
    rtmp://76.192.182.133/my_streamer
    where the protocol is rtmp, the Web address is the address of your host server and the name of the application you are using to do the streaming is the last part of the address.
    Of course this means that you will need to have an application already residing on the server, it's not enough to just have access to a Flash Media Server, you also need an application to do the streaming.
    The next important part is to give your stream a name, it can be whatever, but this name will be used on the Web page.
    something like:
    Stream: test_stream
    With those settings, here is what a Web page would look like:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
    <title>Streaming Test</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id='mediaspace'>
      <script type='text/javascript'>
        var so = new SWFObject('player_new.swf','mpl','500','410','9');
        so.addParam('allowfullscreen','true');
        so.addParam('allowscriptaccess','always');
        so.addParam('wmode','opaque');
        so.addVariable('image','live_intro.jpg');
        so.addVariable('file','test_stream');
        so.addVariable('bufferlength','10');
        so.addVariable('streamer','rtmp://76.192.182.133/my_streamer');
        so.write('mediaspace');
      </script>
      </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    that's the entire page, just copy and paste into a new html doc in code view.
    See where the variable 'file' is the name of your stream 'test_stream'
    And the variable 'streamer' is the URL of your host FMS with the application name at the end of the address.
    This is working code from the JW Player using swfobject 1.5 (notice the call to swfobject in the <head>).
    There is also an image (make it 500 x 410 or whatever size you set your player to) that sits in front of the player until someone click the play button.
    So to make this work, you need 3 files, the JW Player itself, the swfobject file, and a thumbnail for before the Live streaming starts.
    You can download them all here from my site:
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/player_new.swfswf
    I changed the file extension to .swfswf so that you can download and not have the browser open the .swf. Once you have the file, change the file extension to just .swf
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/swfobject.js
    swfobject for Flash detection, also great for adding alternate content for non-Flash browsers.... but that's another story.
    and an image here:
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/live_intro.jpg
    download to your screen and right click and "Save Image.
    Put all the files in the same folder as your new HTML Web page.
    Change the FMS URL to your host URL.... I'll include a photo here:
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/streaming/streaming.jpg
    That is where your URL info goes. When you click the "Connect" button, you should get a message in the "Encoding Log" tab that tells you whether the connection was successful of not.
    For more info on the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash/flash_media_live_encoder
    You now have everything needed to properly display a Live stream... provided that is that your FMS is correctly set up and that you actually have a working, streaming application installed on the server.
    One more thing:
    "I even tested another embedded video just to make sure the host wasn't the issue and that video played live perfectly even remotely but my feed would not."
    A Live feed is completely different from prerecorded videos. It uses a different protocol, Player configuration is different, and of course you need an actual application that streams Live video.
    Best of luck! I hope you can get this going!

  • How can I stream Live video?

    I'm working on a project where I take live video from an NTSC source. I'm looking for a simple program to import and allow me to take screen captures on the fly. I can edit it later. Can iMovie 09 do this...if so how?

    This is an AVCHD camera. On import the AVCHD is converted to AIC. So bottom line is, no streaming from this camera.

  • Live video from isight embedded into keynote slide

    I have been trying to figure out how to embed live video from my isight camera into keynote. I have tried creating a stream from quicktime broadcaster and import the .sbp file into keynote, but it will not except the stream file. I did not know if there was another way to do it besides the stream or if perhaps I could use another program to help input the video.
    My ultimate goal is to be able to present slides and have a live video from my isight during the slideshow on one of the slides. I guess if there is some other way to get both the slideshow presentation and video on the presentation screen without any program headings, in a clean fashion, that would be acceptable too; even if a different program was handling the video and it wasn't technically embedded.

  • Switching video source for live video streaming

    Is it possible to switch the video source from a video
    capture card to a standalone video during live video streaming? We
    are streaming live TV and we want to skip playing any
    advertisements.
    If this is not possible, what is the best way skip playing
    any advertisements? Do we have to do it at the client player level
    i.e. catch an event from the video player and play a predefined
    video when the live video stream is stopped?

    Thanks for reporting your fix. That news could be very important to those who delete events from their hard drive to save space, but may want to reload them later to do some editing.
    It sounds like the key is re-importing with exactly the same name as before.
    Just curious: What kind of camcorder? Was it MiniDV tape? Flash? Hard drive? DVD?
    It strikes me that with tape it might be difficult to reimport an exact match. If you start on a different frame, the pointers could be off. But if that is not the case, it is very good news.

  • Can't import LIVE TYPE files .ipr into FCP -  FILE ERROR: UNKOWN FILE.

    I have had this problem for a while and simply just worked around it. But now I am editing so much more that I want it the way it use to be.
    The Problem is FCP 6 will not let me import LIVE TYPE files. I have to render them into an .mov 1st in livetype. I use to be able to just drag the file into FCP and render it there after I tweeked it. Now it won't, it gives me this error- FILE ERROR: Unknown File.
    I have already uninstalled Live type along with its PLIST as well as FCP. Re installed and still keep getting the same error. I can't remember when it started, all I know is I want it fixed.
    Thank you for any assistance anyone can offer.

    What are the Project Properties settings? do they match the Sequence setting in FCP?
    What elements are used in your LiveType composition?
    Are you including images or background video?
    If so, post the codec that the video uses. If there are images, the file type and color space.
