Import Madness! How do I fix this mess?

ok, so I had all my photos extracted from their previous locations into just one folder, deleted almost 8000 duplicates, then imported the remaining 28,000+ into Aperture.
Aperture did move the files to the new default folder (/Media Drive/Pictures) but arranged them in dated subfolders (1999/10/22). I wasn't expecting this, but hey, that's cool.
Except...these folder dates appear to have NOTHING to do with the actual date of the photos! The 1999/10/22 folder is full of pictures with a creation date of 3/25/2007 !
Also - on import, Aperture split the photos into projects (by date) but named the Projects in sequential order. I now have Project 1 through Project 732.
So how can I fix this?
Do I have to import into Projects instead of into folders?
How do I get Aperture to recognize the correct photo dates?
I'm not opposed to trashing the library and reimporting the whole thing again, but I would need some better instructions on how to get the import to work better before I do that....

Dixonge,
Aperture did move the files to the new default folder (/Media Drive/Pictures) but arranged them in dated subfolders (1999/10/22). I wasn't expecting this, but hey, that's cool.
Can you explain this further?  Did you choose the option to have Aperture store the files in the Aperture library?  It sounds like it, and if so, then you should pretty much ignore anything inside the Aperutre library package.  When you say "folder", you are talking about a folder in Finder, right?  (With a name like "/Media Drive/Pictures", it does not sound like you are looking at Aperture when describing this problem.)
Also - on import, Aperture split the photos into projects (by date) but named the Projects in sequential order. I now have Project 1 through Project 732.
So how can I fix this?
That's an option in the Aperture preferences under the "Import" tab.  You had Aperture auto-split your entire huge, uncoordinated dircetory into smaller chunks to make it more managable.  This is usually used, for instance, when you take pictures 3 days in a row without importing into Aperture.  Auto-splitting there makes sense -- you automatically get three projects, one for each day.  However, it sounds like you wanted the entire 28000+ into one project? Are you sure about that?  You will probably want to organize all those photos into more appropriate projects someday.  If you start with one project per day, it may be easier to figure out how to organize them, than if you start with one huge project.
Do I have to import into Projects instead of into folders?
You always import into a Project.  Photos are stored in projects.
You should read the following page from the Aperture manual, at the very least:
http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=3%26sec tion=1http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=3%26sec tion=1
How do I get Aperture to recognize the correct photo dates?
I think this will depend on your elaboration from my earlier question.  Aperture is using your corrcet photo dates.  Can you explain, what exactly (in terms of what part of the Aperture window) makes you think Aperture is not showing you the correct dates?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

  • I have a Runtime Error-Program C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe- an application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime Library incorrectly-How do I fix this?

I have a Runtime Error. Program C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\itunes.exe. An application has made an attempt to load C Runtime Library incorrectly. I have robooted and even attempted to uninstall iTunes but neither has worked.  When I attempt to uninstall I get a message saying that a program is being installed so I must wait. My OS is Windows 7. How do I fix this?

    Hello Richard,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with installing the latest iTunes update.  I recommend following the steps below:
    Resolution
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
I understand that you have already uninstalled iTunes, but when you get to this step, it is important to uninstall iTunes and the related components in the order listed in the link for that step.

  • ITunes files are corrupted on my computer. I can't repair them. How do I fix this. Tried nearly everything in the help sections and made it worse!

I've tried to do the iTunes upgrade, but the iTunes.msi file was missing/ could not be found.
I've tried the fixes listed by people online, but it has just made it worse. The files are now corrupted and I cannot update/ repair/ uninstall, etc......
    How do I fix this?
    Thank you in advance........

Apple provides a brain-dead simple way to backup all your personal data in the form of Time Machine that keeps incremental backups going back at least several weeks, if not months (depending on the size of the backup drive). Why more people don't use it is a puzzle to me. In this day and age of person, and very important, data being digitial (sometimes exclusively) backing everything up becomes imperative. Ideally a good backup scheme should incorporate multiple backup solutions in case of very serious emergencies, but for most people, and in the case described in the OP TM is a very good solution. If a file is deleted, then found to be needed again, just go to the date and time in TM just before the file was deleted and restore it. Simple. But it doesn't work if you aren't backing up. So... backup, backup, backup. You'll thank yourself that you did when you finally need it.

  • HT5137 I made a purchase with my debit card on The Simpson Tapped out game, And now my game won't open. It just kicks me out every time I click on it. How do I fix this problem with out deleting my app?

I made a purchase with my debit card on The Simpson Tapped out game, And now my game won't open. It just kicks me out every time I click on it. How do I fix this problem with out deleting my app?

Personally, I would never use a debit card online, for security reasons.  If your card gets hacked its your money that is stolen.  At least with a credit card it is the card providers money that is stolen.
Anyway,  I would delete the app and re-install.  If you paid for the app in the first place you will be able to re-install free of charge.  Also, the app should allow the in-app purchase to happen again as it should recognise that you have already purchased it previously.
Finally, it might be that the 3G doesnt have as much ram as more recent models of iphone and you may have applications running in the background that are preventing the app to function with the in-app purchase unless you shut down any apps eating all you memory that are running in the background.  Shut-down these apps (and the simpson tap out app) by exiting to your home screen and double-tapping the home button to show what apps are running in the background.  press and hold any of the open apps until it starts shaking.  close all the apps down.  exit then re-launch the app.
    good luck.

  • Everytime I open iphoto, my computer tells me A photo has been found in the iPhoto Library that was not imported.  Would you like to import it.  no matter what I do, iphoto puts the pic in recovered files.  How do I fix this?

Everytime I open iphoto, my computer tells me,  A photo has been found in the iPhoto Library that was not imported.  Would you like to import it.  If I import it, a message comes up Unreadable file, the following file could not be imported. them it tells me where the file is and it cannot be opened.  If I do not import, then it says,The photo has been placed in the folder /Users/patrick*******/Pictures/iPhoto Library Recovered Photos_4.  It will just keep adding to recvovered photos.  This drives me crazy!!!!!!!  How do I fix this?

I had this problem some months ago and the following solution from Terrence Delvin put things right:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.
However, since connecting a memory stick to my computer, I now have the same problem again.  This time there is no folder called 'Import' or 'Importing' so what should I do?

  • Have over 86GB of music now showing as "other" and although it is still on my iPod it is not playable.  Most is from imported CDs. I do have a backup file on an external hard drive. How can I fix this?

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

  • I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this?

I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this? I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.

The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether.

As rex already mentioned, Apps and other content are forever tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them. No transfers. No combining Apple IDs. Forever means forever.
In practice, this means any apps you currently have - free or paid - will need to be either repurchased using your new Apple ID or downloaded again if free. Until you refresh all of your apps, your iPad will ask for credentials to the old Apple ID any time one of the apps is updated.
Why did you feel it was necessary to create a new Apple ID?

  • Why can't I open and retrieve my files from iPhoto and my address book after importing the files from my Power mac G5 to my new Mac Pro? I get a warning that says the new OS on my Pro doesn't open files from a Power Mac. Any idea how I can fix this?

For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys.  Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it.  It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process.  Other PowerPC to Intel migration issues are covered here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295

  • HT2479 My Macbook Pro is not letting me import videos from my camera or usb to work on iMovie. How can I fix this?

I recently bought a Macbook Pro because I like working with imovie. The first day that I started working on imovie, I imported some videos from my camera to the computer with no problem. But after I closed imovie and started working on that same project the very next day, the videos were not saved. The editing and music of my videos were saved but the videos wouldn't show. So, I tried to import my videos again and the computer did not let me. I turned off the computer and after a week I tried to import other videos and when I press the import button, it doesn't do anything. How can I fix this? I have version Ox 10.9

What happens when you try to download the new iPhoto and iMovie?  Do you get any message and if so what is it?  What do you mean by "theft of my iPhoto or iMovie"? Who do you think stole them?
One trick to try is to move the iPhoto and iMovie apps to the Trash in the Dock but don't empty as yet.  Then go to the App Store and try to download the apps again.

  • Iphoto 11 is frozen on finishing import.  Stop import does not work.  How do I fix this?

I tried to import photos by dragging a group of them to an album and the import started, but does not finish.  When I press stop import, it does not respond. How do I fix this?  I think that it happened with iphone pictures, but could have been a SD card from my camera, and I ejected it before it finished since I could not get the import to work or stop.

Force Quit the app - it's under the Apple menu.
