Import music from iPhone to Macbook after operating system reinstall

My Macbook Pro recently crashed and I had to reinstall the operating system. I lost all the music in itunes that I had ripped from cds. However all the music is still on my iphone. Why can't I just import all the music from my iphone back to itunes on my Macbook ?
Using Lion OSX and Iphone 3gs. Haven't updated to os 5 as it says it will wipe all music from my iphone.

Transferring music from iPhone to MacBook Pro

I just bought a new macbook pro and went to transfer my music from my iPhone to the new iTunes, and only half transferred. The other half are in the iTunes music section but are not highlighted. Help?

The iphone is not a backup device.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Can't download music from iPhone onto macbook

I want to download music from my phone onto my macbook, but when i sync music it says i only have 16 songs on my phone and will only download those, even though i have 150 songs on my phone... I'm on the iPhone 5s help!

it´s easy
connect the iphone4 to the mac
itunes open automatic, or you start itunes
start snc photos, click on tab photos and mark photos to snc
click apply
thats it.
on the end the dialog to delete photos on the iphone ist you choice...yes or no.

look that you have installed the latest version of your iphone4 firmeware and also the itunes version.

Importing Photos from iPhone to Macbook Pro

I was importing photos from my iPhone to my Macbook and I accidentally unplugged the USB while the photos were being imported. When I try to plug my phone back in and import the photos again, a message pops up saying that "photos are being imported", even though no photos are appearing. I have tried to shut down and restart my computer, but I am not allowed to do either because iPhoto won't let me ("photos are being imported"). Any suggestions on how to import photos?

Apple Menu -> Force Quit to force iPhoto to quit.

Syncing will only transfer music purchased from the iTunes store to your computer. Music from other sources can only be transfered from your phone to your computer using 3rd party software such as PhoneView (Mac) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac).

Imported shots from iPhone ... after moving not showing "Places"

I imported shots from my iPhone and it showed the places initially but IO had to move the library file for it and now the images display but the places do not... what did I do wrong.. Did I miss some data files that would not be in the library package?

Are you using a Managed or Referenced library? (It's Managed unless you changed the default settings.) If you imported the photos they will have been stored in the iPhoto package (inside the Pictures folder). You should not move or rename anything in this package using the Finder (iPhoto depends on the structure that it creates there).
When a photo is imported iPhoto reads the geodata and locates the photo. iPhoto does not read the geodata at any other time.
Using this background information can you tell us a bit more about what you did and we'll try to figure out a solution for you.

ITunes won't import music from iPhone to iTunes Library

I have a large Purchased playlist on my iPhone. However, none of these songs will sync to my iTunes. They are shown in my Music tab under my phone but not in my actual iTunes library. Clicking sync shows the songs greyed out in my library with the progress wheel momentarily, but then they disappear from the library - as if it cancelled the syncing to my laptop. This is just one of numerous issues I am having with iTunes. Anyone know of a fix? I've already restored my phone due to other issues I was having as of a couple days ago, and I've already deleted all my music from my phone and attempted to re-sync it, but nothing works. So many issues with this program. What gives, Apple?

Itunes Issues after operating system reinstall

After having weeks of airport issues, the Genius Bar folks decided that reinstalling my operating system was the only opin to fix what they think is a software issue. After restoring all my data using my last backup and doing all software updates again, I am getting an error when trying to open itunes - 'the file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes. Would you like to download itunes now?. The two oprions I am given are 'quit' and 'download itunes'. If I chose to download itunes it tells my there are no updates! I have also plugged my ipod into my laptop and it doesn't recognize it. What should I do?? I am totally lost. When I ran the updates last night it showed itunes updating, so I am unclear as to why it isn't even opening. Thanks for any help.

How to import contacts from iPhone to Macbook Address Book...?

Whenever I go under
iTunes > Info > Sync Contacts
It tries to import my empty contact list ON my mac to my iPhone, rather than import my iPhone contacts onto my Mac. How do I import my contacts into my address book?
Please be specific, because from my previous research on how to do it.... it was a very vague explanation.

Without a unique contact in the macbook address book, it will delete all the contacts from the phone. You must have a unique contact in the macbook to trigger the merge response from iTunes when you go to sync. Also, make sure you take the time in iTunes preferences to put the checkmark where it says Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. That way you have complete control over the sync process.

Transferring music from iPhone to MacBook

I have recently downloaded some new albums on my iPhone, however when I tried to transfer them to my MacBook there was a problem with my internet connection and as a result a majority of the songs haven't transferred. At the moment all of the songs that haven't transferred are light grey with an exclamation point in a circle to the left of the song name and they cannot be played on my Mac. I have tried syncing my iPhone again but I can't get them to transfer properly, any advice on how to sort this out?

iTunes will sync the contacts back for you.
If you right-click in your iPhone in iTunes, there should be a "Transfer Purchases" option. That will copy anything you got from the iTunes Store from your iPhone back to your Mac.
You can buy a program called senuti to copy music you didnt buy from the iTunes Store back to your Mac.
iPhoto or Image Capture will pull any photos in your Camera Roll, but I dont know about getting pictures you synced back. Im sure theres an app for that. Just remember that iTunes downsized them before it copied them, so they wont be the same quality as orig.
Oh, and go spend 75 for an external hdd and setup Time Machinr to automatically back your Mac up so youre never in this spot again.

Some apps and music are authorised by an old email account but it will not let me move them to a new macbook air because the account is defunct. Any help?

Try this:
Open iTunes on your new MacBook Air. From iTunes' menu on the Mac, go to Store > Authorize This Computer. Enter the "old email account" - ID and password.
Then try the transfer again.
