Import nikon d4

Hi...
When I connect my Nikon D4 and open Final Cut Pro X, the import dialog does not seem to recognize the camera, so I can not import directly into FCP. If I transfer the .MOV file on the computer through other means, then I can import the .MOV file into FCP no problem.
Any way to fix this?
Thanks

Did you use image capture to tansfer the .mov into FCPX?
What you did, is what I do to transfer the .mov into FCPX.
Since dual mode cameras came out, I found using image capture is the easy way to get both still & .mov files, transfer to the computer HD. I put them in a Folder that I name for the event that I shot still & video, with the date of the shoot.
Hope this helps.

You need Lightroom 4 or CS6.  Otherwise you will have to download the free DNG software and convert images.

  • Problems importing Nikon D4s NEF files to LR5, Bridge, Photoshop CC / CC2014?

Is anyone having a problem importing Nikon D4s NEF files into Lightroom 5, Bridge or PhotoshopCC / CC2014 or Photoshop5?
I am running the latest updates: LR5.5, RAW 8.4, Photoshop CC latest update which, as far as I am aware, are all supposed to support the D4s NEFs but none will read the files; LR5.5 just shows "Preview unavailable for this file", Bridge just shows a blank and Photoshop shows "Photoshop cannot open this file".
I have tried 14 bit, 12bit uncompressed; but only jpegs show up??
All running on an iMAC 2.93Ghz Core i7 mid 2010; 16GB Ram and also on a Mid 2011 Macbook pro 2.2Ghz core i7 with 16GB Ram.
Is this camera supported fully yet?
Is anyone else having similar problems?
    Any ideas?

You probably used Nikon software to transfer the photos to your computer. This causes corruption of the file so taht Adobe Software cannot read it.
To uncorrupt the files, see Fix Corrupted Nikon NEF Images

  • I need help updating LR4 so I can import Nikon Df images. When I try to update, a message says, no new updates. How do I get new updates for LR4?

I need to update LR4 so I can import Nikon Df images. When I try to update a message says there are no new updates. Please help?

Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh
Adobe - Lightroom : For Windows
The latest update for LR 4 is version 4.4.1, you can download the appropriate install package from the links above.
Unfortunately support for the Nikon Df was only included with LR 5.3, so the options are.
    1. Upgrade to LR 5.
    2. Utilize the free Adobe DNG Converter (the latest version is 8.8) to convert the nef files to DNG format and import the dng files into Lightroon 4. Good idea to retain your original raw files and do appropriate investigation into the uses of the DNG format.

  • How to import Nikon Nef (raw Files) ?

    Hello
I'm having problems importing Nikon Nef Raw files, PSE9 is displaying the message The file is damaged or file format
cannot be included. Any suggestions please.

You are going to need Adobe Camera Raw 6.3, but the only version that has been released is the Version 6.3 Release Candidate, which I don't think can be installed with PSE. You will have to wait until the final version of Adobe Camera Raw 6.3 is released.
The only workaround is to use the Version 6.3RC DNG Converter to convert your RAW files to DNG files, which can then be accessed by PSE.

  • Lightroom 2 won't import Nikon D3s files

I work with Photoshop CS4 and have upgraded the camera RAW to v5.7 in order that Nikon D3s files can be used,  but Lightroom 2 doesn't seem to be able to import these NEF files.  Where can I update Camera Raw in Lightroom and how do I do this exactly?
    Thank you

    Thanks; I ordered the upgrade.

The A33 isn't supported until LR 3.2.  So, if you posted to this thread because you are using LR 2, then that's your problem.

  • LR4.4 photos won't import nikon d7100

I have updated LR 4.4.1 and cannot import my photos from my Nikon d7100.  They are in .NEF format.  I am using the new iMAC 2.7ghz.  I am the "managed user" and my wife is the admin user.  Neither of us can import the photos, therefore, it is not a permission issue.  I have called mac and they have done all they can do.  It now seems like it is an adobe issue.  I am trying to import from the sd card.  I can see the images, up to about 50 images, but when I say import, it runs through the process to finally tell me that the import was unsuccessful.
    HELP!!!!!

Have the files or SD card ever been used in Nikon Transfer or other Nikon software? There is a known issue where the files from the D7100 are used in older versions of Nikon Transfer that shipped with an earlier camera model.
I have no problem importing into LR4.4 (see image below) but I first copied the file to a folder on my hard drive and in LR used Import >> Add
You could try shooting a fresh NEF and copying straight to the hard drive to see if that makes any difference.

  • Error importing Nikon D800 RAW files into Lightroom 4.4.1

    Hi folks,
I got an Nikon D800 and tried to import the RAW files taken with it to my Lightroom 4.4.1 installation on Windows 8.1 64bit.
    Lightroom info:
    Lightroom version: 4.4.1 [908273]
    Operating system:  (Build 9200)
    Version: 6.2 [9200]
    Application architecture: x64
    System architecture: x64
    Logical processor count: 4
    Processor speed: 3,9 GHz
    Built-in memory: 16321,7 MB
Real memory available to Lightroom: 16321,7 MB
Real memory used by Lightroom: 1042,6 MB (6,3%)
Virtual memory used by Lightroom: 1032,2 MB
    Memory cache size: 0,0 MB
Maximum thread count used by Camera Raw: 4
    System DPI setting: 96 DPI
    Desktop composition enabled: Yes
    Displays: 1) 1920x1080
I do get an error like this while trying to import the files:
And then when I try to import them I get an error screen.
The files can be viewed with irfanview so they should not be corupted.

Have you used any Nikon software with them, perhaps an older Nikon Transfer or View NX?  These are known to make newer Nikon camera’s files unreadable by Adobe products.
On way to test would be to take a new picture and move it to your hard-drive using either your OS-level functions (Finder/Explorer) or LR, itself, directly from the card, perhaps in a card reader.
The utility, here, can reverse this obsolete-Nikon-software corruption:

When I import jpeg photos from my d80 Nikon, I have an alert poping up telling me that it can't find DSC_0001.NEF, and you need to click several time on cancel for each photo you import into iphoto. A real nightmare. Running Tiger on Powerbook Pro. Version of iPhoto is 06. All updates have been done.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I've seen this issue noted in cases of a damaged Library database. To test for this:
Create a new Library (hold down the option (or alt) key and a launch iPhoto. From the resulting dialogue select 'Create Library'. Try import a few pics to the new library, does the problem occur there?
If not then to fix your old Library:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Video missing when importing Nikon V1 movies

When importing movies in FCPX from a new 1-series Nikon V1 camera only the audio is captured, not the video.  The same files (video and audio) play fine in Quicktime and are also captured without problems (although very slowly) in iMovie.

Hi I have bought the Nikon V1 and use it with the 10-100 Vr PD lens. I have just come back from a Skiing Holiday which gave me the opportunity to Test the camera.
I also use a Panasonic AG AF 100 Pro Video camera also
Due to size and weight I only took the V1 only
When I watched the replay on a HD television I was blown away by the quality of this little camera Definition in snow conditions were incredible, fast focus ease of use and LIGHTNESS!
I would compare the cameras as equal, although there are more things you can do with a Panasonic but at 5 times the price
So anybody considering this camera the V1, don't be put off, I am sure the market will soon make the appropriate converter which will solve the current problems

  • Development of imported nikon raw images - too strong?

    Hi everybody,
I have what is probably a basic question for Aperture 3, but couldnt help me otherwise.
I am shooting with two Nikon-cameras in RAW-format.
I kept noticing, that when I import my images into aperture, when I select the image for the very first time to view it, the machine keeps "loading" it for approx 1-2 seconds, and then the colours are quite different and also some lines.
So what seems to happen is some kind of interpretation of the RAW-image, probably i am seeing a JPG-preview image from the cam before that?
However, it seems to me that the colours get a little bit too intense, eg faces tend to get a little red quickly
Also, I just noticed that a pillar of a building, which has been quite straigt in preview, seemed to be a little more curvy after this process, so its probably some lense correction or aspheric correction working.
I do want to keep on shooting in RAW, but I have no clue, if there is any way to influence what Aperture does (automatically) with all those pictures, can you help me out?
    thanks!

Check the "Raw Fine Tuning" settings in the adjustment brick.
If "Raw Fine Tuning" is not showing, add it to your default adjustments after selecting one of your raws. Then click the cogwheel and add the adjustment to your default set.
I'd try to adjust the "Boost" and "Hue Boost" sliders.
Once you are happy with the result, click the cogwheel and save the new setting as a camera default preset.
Perhaps the preset that Aperture is using for your camera is using is faulty.

  • Can't import Nikon video into Lightroom 5

I just noticed that I can no longer import .MOV files from my Nikon D800 into Lightroom 5. I am running on Mac OS X 10.8.4 on a Macbook Pro, LIghtroom 5.0, Camera Raw 8.1. I plug the camera into the USB port of my macbook pro (don't have a SD slot on my macbook pro)
When I click import in Lightroom the .MOV files don't even show up at all in the import dialog.
When I tried to import video from my iPhone 5, they showed up on the import screen and I was able to succesfully import them.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

The camera does show up on the import dialog box when the camera is connected.
Photographs taken just before and after the video show up in the import window, just not the videos.
The camera has both an SD card and a compact flash card. The images and video were saved to the compact flash card. To be safe I took the SD card out of the camera, the camera LCD display can still show the  images and video on the camera display, but in lightroom 5 I only see the still images not the video in the import window.
Any other ideas would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Importing nikon d610 files and presets are applying to raw files?

I just picked up a nikon d610 and every time I import photos several presets are applied to my Raw images. White balance, contrast, Vibrance, saturation, and sharpening. It's like an import preset is set but I don't have anything selected. This only happens on my D610, my D800 and D7000 import raw files in with no settings applied. Running LR5.5 on a Mac OS 10
    Anyone experience this before?
    Thanks

You mention an older camera, which opens the door to the possibility of older software. There are histories of older versions of Nikon Transfer doing bad things to files from newer cameras. Check to see that you have the most recent version of Nikon Transfer. If not, do the upgrade then transfer the files again from the card(s).

  • Importing Nikon RAW .nef files into iPhoto

I am using iPhoto 8.0.3. I can import RAW .nef files from my D90 without a problem. I also scan my older slides/negs using a CoolScan V and saving those files as RAW .nef format. Problem is that iPhoto does not recognize the .nef files that are scanned. Anybody have some thoughts? I can convert the scanned files into jpg using Nikon View and then bring them in to iPhoto, but would prefer to leave them in the RAW format so I don't have replicant files all over the place.

iPhoto will only work with RAW files on this list
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1475
Unfortunately there are no Scanners on the list.
