Import of iPhone Library .. leaving behind 1/2 the photos
This is frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.
New to Aperture -- long time on the mac.
46K items in iPhone, when I select Import iPhoto Library .. Aperture only sees 16,755 items.
I am not migrate to aperture until this is resolved.
ideas?
Tried rebuilding iphone library a few times.
iPhone or iPhoto?
If it's iPhoto: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I tried that to be honest. The best thing is, the albums I want to delete aren't even on my iMac!!!!! So not even there to deselect?? Not a clue?

can I create an album on my iphone and have it stores all the photos I take from then on to that folder/album?
I think that would be super useful before you go to an event, create a folder on the phone for that event and just use it to take pictures. All the pictures for the event will be in that album and no need to move pics around at a later time!That would be great, but unfortunately, all new pictures automatically go into the Camera Roll.
I wish that once you created an album and selected it to import from the Camera Roll, it would delete from the Camera Roll. -
i have enabled iCloud on my iPhone. In case i delete the photos from my phone would they still be on my iCloud account or will it sync and delete it on iCloud as well?

Thank you for the question. It sounds like you are curious about how iCloud stores your photos. Photo Stream stores your photos temporarily so that you can have time to sync them to your computer, but the photos will expire after 30 days:

Before updating my iphone 3G to iOS 5 all the photos i synced were lpaced in my photo gallery only. Know I have both Photo gallery and The folder I synced. Can somebody help me and tell me how can i have it the old way? if its applicable. Thank you

I searched a lot and maybe found a part of the reason for this high data traffic.
I'm synchronizing my contacts, calendar & reminder with iCloud & my mail with Hotmail.
When push is activated for Hotmail, that doesn't matter, but when push is activated for iCloud, the amount of data nearly explodes. So I turned iCloud to manual and let Hotmail on push.
Contacts, calendar & reminder are synchronizing when opened (I think this is enough).
Also I do a backup on iCloud and than I deactivate the function (I do not delete the last backup, I only deactivate the option for automatic backup).
It seems, that the backup functionality also generates traffic when not on WiFi - especially at night!!
The battery life has been getting better, when I deactivated the support for automatic time zone changes (location services were always on).
The battery finaly got MUCH BETTER since the update on iOS 5.0.1.
My traffic is actually higher than on iOS 4 but not so high as before I deactivated some services...

i have recently installed icloud on my pc & have activated photo stream on my iphone. only a portion of the photos from my phone are now available on my pc. Why haven't they all transferred over?
When you turn on photo stream on a device that is the source of photos, only the photos you take in the future will sync to the stream, not the photos currently in the camera roll.
When you turn on photo stream on a device or computer that will receive photos from other devices, only the photos that have been on the servers for the past 30 days will sync, all older photos have been deleted from the servers.
To sync camera roll photos that weren't part of photo stream, you need to sync them manually using itunes. -

these are pics shot from the iPhone 3G itself, any ideas?Help! I have the same issue. I use YAHOO. When I send a photo from my iPhone, it gives an error message "Photo Delivery Failed". I click ok. The Photo was actually sent to the email address even though I had the error message. Next time I unlock the iPhone, I see the Photo Delivery Failure message again. The iPhone then proceeds to send multiple copies of the photo to the email address. I cannot stop it from sending duplicates.
Any suggestions? -
Geotagging in photostream works in ipad but not in iphone (which was used to take the photos!)
So I took some photos two days ago with my IPhone 4 (iOS 7.0.3) and they were uploaded automatically to my photostream. Today, I took several photos again with my IPhone 4 and they were uploaded to photostream normally. The problem is that the geotagging for these photos works only on my Ipad 4 and not on my IPhone which was used to take the photos in the first place! All photos are synced 100% between my two devices but the geotagging of photos stops on my IPhone two days ago and the pictures I took with it are geotagged properly only on my Ipad through photostream. Any ideas how to fix this?
If that happened to me, I would check Settings > Privacy > Location Services on my iPhone. I'm not sure which particular item would affect the outcome there, but certainly I would check that both "Location Services" and "Camera" were "On".

I do not want all the photos from my iPhone downloading to my wife's iPhone from iCloud? We share an iCloud account. How can I prevent the download to my wife's iPhone from iCloud. .The "Upload to My Photo Stream" is turned off on my iPhone. . I am running 8.1.3.
I have a related question. In order to same space on my iPhone is there a way to upload the photos to the iCloud and then delete them from my iPhone.The way to keep the photos from downloading to your wife's phone would be for her to go to Settings > iCloud > Photos > and turn off iCloud Photo Library. If that isn't an option, the other option would be for her to have her own Apple ID ( and possibly explore the new family sharing options https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/family-sharing/ )

IPhone sometimes won't delete all the photos after I import into iPhoto
Every so often, my iPhone 3GS won't delete some photos after importing into iPhoto and choosing "delete originals." It deletes most of the originals but strangely keeps a certain number around. My basic routine is to "Import All" and then "Delete Originals." This works 98% of the time, but sometimes the iPhone just gets hung up and won't delete the originals until I manually do it from the iPhone itself.
I was looking further into this and I found out that on my Macbook Pro's System Preferences. In the iCloud settings, the "Photos" setting was checked and in the Options next to that, the "My Photo Stream" and "Photo Sharing" was also checked.
I think this was the main problem. After I used iTunes to sync with the photos maybe there was some cache settings or something residual left on the iPhone which let to it being continuously restoring.
This is the fix which I used. It is fine now.
Check in System Preferences for - iCloud >> Photos is unchecked.
Check in System Preferences for - iCloud >> Photos >> Options >> "My Photo Stream" and "Photo Sharing" is unchecked.
Temporarily delete account for iCloud settings on iOS device - Settings >> iCloud (This didn't affect my main iCloud account only deleted my information on the device)
Re-sync iOS device with iTunes.
Set up your iCloud account on iOS device again.

I am using a Windows 64 bit premium, the phone is the 3g 16gig, and I cannot retrieve the photos from the photo library. I can retrieve the camera roll. How do I get the photos from the photo library?
I'm sorry I was not clear, I am extremely frustrated with iPhones right now. That is the reason my new phone is an Android!
I have a camera roll folder on the iPhone that has 346 photos that I took with the iPhone. I was able to retrieve those simply by connecting the iPhone to the computer. I have a second folder on the iPhone that is called Photo Library that has 818 photos that I wanted to retrieve from my iPhone. These photos were placed onto the iPhone from a sync, but my computer crashed and I had to format the hard drive. Doing so obviously caused me to loose all of my photos on my computer. The photos on the iPhone in the Photo Library are associated to the old computer folder library so it will not sync to the new computer. I was trying to retrieve those photos, but was not having any luck.
UPDATE! I remembered that I had backed up the computer hard drive to an external hard drive before the crash. I located ALL of the photos on that hard drive that I was trying to retrieve from the iPhone Photo Library.
*NOTE* If anyone has an answer to how to retrieve these photos, please post as my father is also have issues trying to retrieve photos the same way only he did not have his backed up. -
If I delete a photo on my iPhone will it also delete from the photo stream on my mac in iPhoto?
I have run out of memory on my iPhone. I want to delete some photos on my iPhone but I want to make sure they will stay on my Macbook in photo stream.
If you have your iPhoto library set to automatically import Photo Stream photos
they will not be removed from the library (but will from the Photo Stream) when deleted from the iPhone). If you don't have the Autokmatic Import checked the select the Photo Stream photos in your LIbrary and drag them onto the Events icon in the left hand pane to import them. Then you can delete from your iPhone.

Export from photo library loses date in half the photos
I used a separate iPhoto library to pare down duplicates from a folder of assorted photos that I eventually wanted to integrate into my main iPhoto library. All 3000+ photos had the correct date. Approximately half of these survived the purge, and were exported (full size, with file name included) to a file folder. When I imported these photos into my main library, I discovered that approximate half of these now had today's date. Inspecting the folder they were imported from, I found that the creation date and modification date of these 750 or so photos were both today's date, rather than the date they had had when in the separate small iPhoto library.
What would cause just some of the photos to lose their original date?
(As a work-around, I have now imported the original 3000+ photos into my main library, where they show the correct original date. I have further given them all a unique keyword, and created a smart folder for them so that I can continue to import other photos while I work to once again remove the unwanted duplicates from this set.)I had chosen JPEG, but I subsequently ran the same export using "Original" and then "Current". The last two exports changed the dates in about 95% of the images to the current date. The JPEG export changed only about half of the dates.
I seem to have had a problem with some of the subject images being corrupt where the Information panel showed the Kind as "_" in iPhoto, but the Extended Photo Info still showed the correct date in the File Modified field. This field then got changed to the current date when the file was exported, regardless of which export "Kind" was chosen. This changed date was consistent viewing the image in the finder or in iPhoto, either in the Information panel or in the "Extended Photo Info" panel, and was the date used by iPhoto for sorting the photos.
Not very useful for hunting down duplicate photos.
So I imported ALL the 3000 or so photos directly into my main iPhoto file, where they kept their original modification date, and then spent the last day or so comparing them to my main database of about 13000 photos.
So why does the Export feature modify the date to the current date? I know you specify that the file data and the exif data are different beasts, but I don't see any place that they differ. -
does anyone know how to restore the photo option for Iphone 3g in the Itunes menu? If doing restore will i lose the app's that have been installed? I would like to do this before activating the 4s.
