Import of movies (over 500 MB into iTunes)?

I can't import movies (over 500 MB) into iTunes from my PC (Windows). What are the reasons? and how to import them?
thanx

I checked the format of movies and noticed that *.avi extension is not supported, is it really so?

  • How do I import movies from a DVD into iTunes?

I have a movie that I'd like to load into iTunes and watch on my iPod. How do I do that?

If it is a home movie, then convert it to a compatible file type and drag into itunes.
If it is a commercial DVD ( you purchased it, like a movie or tv show), then it is illegal to break the encryption used to stop people from copying the dvd. Sorry.

  • How can I set the movies I have put into itunes so that they do not sync each time I try to sync new music purchaes?

I can uncheck tv shows and when I sync music or app purchase the tv shows do not sync unless they are marked us unwatched.  I have put digital copies of some blu-rays into itunes and I cannot get them to be in itunes without syncing when sync new purchases.  How can I keep the movies in itunes for storage but keep them from going to the device and taking up memory when I am not needing them?

Just untick Sync Movies or change the drop down below to selected movies.

  • Problem with import files from windows media player into iTunes

When I have tried to import my .wav lossless files created under windows media player into iTunes I use File, add folder to library but when the action is completed I get all of the files under the heading 'unknown album' with 'unknown artist'.
Does anyone know that I need to do in order to include the artist and album ?
    Many thanks,
    John.

You'll first need to add the MP3s to your iTunes library since the iPod is not compatible with Windows Media Player. You can use, for example, the File > Add to Library menu to do this.

    Hey Kevin,
thanks for your reply. I fixed the problem.

  • How to import large library of .wav files into itunes with tags?

I have an external NAS drive where I imported approximately 400 CDs in .wav format utilizing itunes many years ago. My itunes library was recently corrupted requiring a reinstall of itunes. The .wav files are preserved and are filed by Artist folders containing Album subfolders which contain the tracks listed by number and name. The problem is when I reimport the files into itunes the artist and album name is lost leaving only the track name, which makes it impossible to organize a library of music.
I would like to batch process and import the .wav files on my NAS drive into itunes in either a high-quality mp3 or AAC format with the songs tagged correctly to allow for an organized and searchable library. I would rather not have to reburn all of the CDs since that required substantial time and effort.
I welcome any solution to this problem.

itunes can't do what you want. It will do exactly what you said, lose everything, because wav files don't have ID3 tags. And, I suspect it dumps it all into an "Unknown Album" subfolder under "Unknown Artist".
You can try the tagFromFileName script on this page, brought to you by an apple discussion forum regular turingtest2. I have not used it myself, but have seen posts from several people happy with the results!

  • Importing songs bought on another site into iTunes

I had bought song from napster and had imported them into iTunes. We got a new computer & due to other complications my library was gone. However, I still have the songs from napster. I tried to import them into my iTunes (my new computer is authorized) but now I am told that they can't be imported & I had to download napster (which I did). Only, the songs will still not import & napster says I have to buy them again. Anyone know what to do?

    What format are they in?
    What happens when you try?
Have you tried placing a copy in the Automatically add to iTunes folder?

    Hey there ckhoury13,
It sounds like your video files may be incompatible with iTunes. Here is an article that will help you determine if your video files need to be converted before they can be moved into iTunes:

  • Import just playlists (not files) back into Itunes

I had to have a new hard disk on my computer. All my music files etc were stored on separate hard drive so I still had it all. I installed itunes on the new hard drive and it imported all my files.
Unfortunately, I had not backed up my playlists. A large number of my files are books that were on CD and imported so the playlist order is really important_ obviously- and the tracks are all mixed up.
How can I get the playlists from my Ipod, which are in the right order?! But I don’t need the actual tracks just the playlist order.

I've tried both. The files won't drag back into iTunes & only the latest podcast is available thru the App Store.

  • How do you import music videos from a dvd into iTunes?

I have got a music cd and includs a music dvd. I want the music videos to be imported into iTunes so I can watch them on my iPod touch. How do I do this?

I had a friend who got a dual-format music album on DVD of the band Chicago for his birthday. He didn't have a system that could play the remixed 5.1 surround sound version on the DVD, but he could play it back in his Mac OS X on the DVD player in good old stereo. However, he wanted a copy he could play in his car CD player.
So I used Audio Hijack to record the output of the DVD played back as stereo through the Apple DVD player in Mac OS X. I had Audio Hijacj write the output to the hard drive as AIFF 16-bit 44.1KHz stereo. Then I used iTunes to burn it to a CD.
Of course it took 45 minutes to make a recording from a 45-minute audio program; it happened in real-time.
(This was all perfectly legal because he owns the DVD and he's using the CD recording as a backup audio copy for his own personal use--basically like ripping a CD you own for use in your iPod).
I did an a/b comparison between the original DVD and the AIFF recording I had generated, and I was pleasantly surprised by its good quality.
Since then I've been an Audio Hijack fan.

  • Problems importing m3u playlists with relative pathnames into iTunes

I keep my collection of mp3 music in a directory structure under the "My Music" ("%HOMEPATH%\My Documents\My Music" to be precise) directory. For each album I have a corresponding .m3u file that defines the track order and locations using relative path names (to the "My Music" directory). These work fine in all of the mp3 players I have used to date.
The problem occurs when I try to import an .m3u file into iTunes (Copy files into iTunes music folder option is off - I don't want two copies of each mp3 taking up space). The import appears to work fine initially. Although relative pathnames are listed when you bring up the info dialog in iTunes, everything works fine (the files are synched to the iPod, and can be played in iTunes). The problem occurs when you close down iTunes. The next time you open it up, it can't find any of the mp3 files. Inspection of the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file indicates that the individual mp3 filenames are stored correctly (albeit relative to the "My Music" directory).
I suspect what is happening is after the initial import, iTunes sets the base path for the mp3 files. When it is shut down and restarted, I suspect it is defaulting back to the "iTunes\iTunes Music" directory as the base path, and therefore is unable to locate the files anymore. Anyone else run into this, or able to offer a solution?

  • Should I import my extensive CD music collection into iTunes?

I was hoping to get feedback on what the benefits (and perhaps disadvantages) of importing a very extensive music library (consisting of about 100 CD's) into iTunes would be...

    Funny Question...
First of all is this a poll survey?.... lol.... anyways here are the benefits:
    1) All the collection will be in the Digital format, so even if the CDs got damaged, the digital files won't unless your wife or kid deletes them.
    2) Having all the songs with you on one device will let you listen those songs more often instead the old fashion way, also you will not have to keep track of where each CD is as everything is on iTunes.
    3) While you decide to step into the next era of digital music, make sure you import them with AAC 256 Kbps or higher, this will ensure the crystal clear sound remains, as encoding them with 128 Kbps reduces the sound quality extensively.
    4) After you have done importing the CDs, make sure to Back up by FILE >Library>Back up to Disc>
choose "*Back up entire iTunes Library & Playlist*". Doing this you will have an extra copy if anything goes wrong with your PC. (Use DVDs for backing up, as each empty DVD can hold upto 4.7 GB).
I hope it help. GOOD LUCK

  • Can you import a DVD of your own into iTunes?

I know you can choose from a very limited selection of films from the iTunes music store, but can you import one of your own films in the same way you import a CD and keep it on iTunes? And, of course, how would one go about doing this? When I insert a DVD, immediately Windows asks which program you want to play it in, and iTunes is not one of those programs.

I would suggest you "google" video iPod converter or do a search of the "using 5G iPod" forum where this subject has been discussed literally hundreds of times.

Sorry, but if you're referring to a commercial DVD, those are copy-protected. Breaking the copy protection is illegal in the US, so discussing ways of doing it are not allowed here (since the US courts have been holding in some cases that even discussing in print such cracking may be illegal).
