Import Only First Track

I tried importing a CD as MP3 yesterday, and only the first track was actually imported -- the rest of the tracks appeared in the list of files created, but each was 2K in size, with no content.
When I went to another computer and did the same, it worked fine. Both machines are using Vista ... I am a bit surprised, and would like to know if there is any specific setting that might cause this, or if perhaps there is something that someone knows about that is an issue ... it would be frustrating to have to use the other machine when I will be using the MP3s on the other ...

Your notebook PC probably has different hardware & different drivers. You can mess around trying to fix it, or as Vixen suggested, just rip your CDs using WMP as MP3 files and add them to the itunes library.
If you want AAC or AIFF files, you'll have to figure out itunes & the drivers.

  • Itunes import only missing tracks

When I imported my CD library into iTunes, I had limited disk space, so I only imported tracks that I like. Now that I have a larger hard drive, I'd like to import the rest of those tracks. Is there any easy way to import only missing tracks, leaving the previously-imported tracks (and their ratings and play counts) alone? If I have to manually check each album to see which tracks are already existing, it'll be a huge undertaking.

Just reimport the entire CD. It'll ask if you want to replace the tracks already imported.
    Click Yes.
This won't change anything (playcounts, ratings) or anything else.

  • Import error: First track of disc

**Sorry if this has already been asked/answered! but I couldn't find it...**
When I import a CD the first track has a pause in it at about the 5 sec. mark. It will pause for 1/2 - 1 sec. and resume playing... this is quite anoying!
    Can this be fixed??? HELP!!!
BTW I have tried 4 different CD/DVD drives, same problem. If I rip using Win Media Player or MusicMatch no problems... (but I don't like them!)
One of a kind   Windows XP Pro   MCE 2005

Id say the simple thing to do is use WMP to rip it, since it does not add the annoying pause, and then add/import what it rips to iTunes by playing it with iTunes or going to file and selecting "Add File To Library"

  • CS4 v4.1.0 some vob files import only first few seconds

I have a mini-DVD camcorder that creates vob files which I wish to edit in Premiere Pro CS4 v4.1.0.
I find that there are four .vob files on the DVD, one is a chapter index, the other three compose what I recorded.
I am able to import all of the latter three, however, only the middle one includes the full track of 16 minutes.  The first and last one import as only about 10 seconds instead of the seven minutes each is.
I tried to work around using DGIndex.exe and MeGUI Modern Media Encoder for the other two, but this only gives me the video, without the audio.
So, either I need a way to rip the audio off the two vobs and hopefully not mess up the lip sync too much or to get the vob files to import correctly into Premiere Pro.
Any help appreciated.  This is Windows XP SP3.
    Thanks.

Well, there are VOB's, and then there are VOB's. Being a Video Object, they can contain a lot of "stuff." This ARTICLE will give you a bit of background.
Dag's suggestion is one that many use and the conversion program gets high marks from many users.

  • Import only creates track names?  Also track file size is incorrect?

I bought a new external Sony DRX-830U and when it imports I only get the track name and related artwork. The file size is about 50K, which is the track name info. It reports that the track length is some rediculious length, like 789:xx:xx, etc.
It is plugged in via USB, as is my external drive, which is where my iTunes music folder resides.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, plus a variety of other things.
    Any ideas would be appreciated!
    Thanks...

  • Importing: Only first 1% of video, but complete audio

    Hi,
I unsuccessfully tried to import video files of different formats like MJPEG, MP4. In contrast, for MPEG and WMV it always seems to work.
The phenomenon is, after importing the video file, when playing it in the preview window or embedding it in the sequence, the first 1% of the video is stretched to the complete video length, such that this results in a "extreme slow motion" like effect. The audio however is fine.
What can I do to get around this and make these files import normally?
    phil

I tried the ffdshow codec bundle. Still doesnt work.
The strange thing is, that Adobe Bridge, Adobe Encore and the Media Player decode the videos perfectly.
And Premiere is obviously also able to decode it, however only the first few frames...

  • ITunes 10 will only play the first track of a CD, including brand new CDs.

I reinstalled my operating system and had to reinstall iTunes. Now I have version 10 and after I import a CD it will only play the first track then progressively go track by track skipping through the rest without playing. Does it even whether I try to play from the CD or from the music section I imported it to. Even have 3 brand new CDs that it is doign the same thing to, so I have a hard time believing it is a disc reading issue.

  • First track does not import BUT no error messages

This problem only appears to be happening when I import songs from cds burned by friends.
iTunes appears to be importing Track One along with all the following tracks but when I look up the album in my Library, Track One is missing.
It does this about 90% of the time and it never indicates there's been an error.
In cases where there is just one track, it goes through all the appearances of importing it normally and the track never appears in my Library.
    What's up with that?

Addendum to all about this question - I am trying to import my original CDs - hangs and does nothing at first track. Trashed the .plist, no help. Reinstalled fresh copy of iTunes - helped - FOR ONE DISK. After that, same problem.

  • When importing from CD, iTunes only imports the first few seconds

    Hi,
Does anyone know why when I import a CD into iTunes it only imports the first few seconds of the track rather than the whole track? How can I fix this?
    Thanks

  • Importing Troubles: Incomplete First Tracks

When I try to import a CD, the first track invariably winds up... how should I say... abbreviated. It will start importing, get a little ways into the first track, get stuck there for a while, then skip to track 2. The rest of the CD imports just fine, but I only get about 30 seconds or so of the first track. I'm running XP on a new Mtech laptop. I've updated all my hardware drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. I don't get any error messages or funky track times or anything else that other people have reported. Just an incomplete first track. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the info. I did try just re-importing the incomplete tracks, and it worked the first couple of times, but then iTunes started merely re-importing the same partial track length it had the first time around. But good news: the issue has been resolved without having to resort to using a separate program for ripping, converting .WAV files, etc - none of which I was keen on doing.
For anyone else who might be having this problem, what seemed to fix it was this: I turned Error Correction on, and I turned the automatic import feature off. BUT... just doing this alone wasn't enough. After making these adjustments, I completely closed out of iTunes and then rebooted my computer. I opened up iTunes after the reboot and have been happily importing CDs problem-free ever since.

  • Itunes stops working as soon as it reads first track while importing CD (APPCRASH). Need help!

Itunes stopped working error comes up as soon as it reads first track while importing CD and needs to close program (APPCRASH). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times - also ran CD diagnostics in iTunes and looks OK. I'm on Vista Home Premium Edition. If it will help I saved the CD Diagnostics from ITunes and the Windows APPCRASH info. I've spend several hours trying to figure this out. Any ideas?

Problem solved! I had my pc plugged into a port replicator to use a bigger screen, etc. When I unplugged it and tried to import the CDs it worked fine. Not sure why I got the error but whenever I get unexpected errors in the future, I will take it off the replicator to eliminate that possibility. Thanks to all who reviewed.
