IMPORT Options in ITUNES:Settings,+16-bit OR 8 Bit??

I have been importing my store-bought CD's into my ITUNES,..IMPORT SETTINGS>>>>>>>> there are several selections, *AIFF(my favorite),(as I want full, ROBUST-sound (I have the computer space...... *MP3, or *WAV or *Losless... trouble is..I'm getting cheap playback quality on very expensive speakers. Distort sound on deep notes, and on treble sounds, It's TINNY-sounding. If I choose "AIFF for best quality, I chose gHz @ 80 (the highest) and even if I choose '16 bit as opposed to 8 -bit.. sound is still bad. Is it the CD itself? My thoughts are that when..imported to ITUNES< itunes does something distorted to the store-bought CD.
also; Is Apple-Losless file better quality? I though AIFF Is the best. anyone? thx in advance.

Don't do that. Commercial CDs are encoded at 44.1 kHz with 16 bit sample size. Importing at any other settings cannot improve, and may degrade, the audio.

Hard to say. It may be your speakers. Go to hdtracks.com and buy a couple of good quality AIFF tracks, add them to your iTunes library, and see if they sound better.

Apple Lossless and AIFF are both "lossless" formats and will provide equivalent audio quality (providing, as previously noted, that you don't mess with the sample rate settings). Apple Lossless files are about half the size.

It does not magically appear in a new place. It will only be where you put it.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Im sorry to hear that. You need to restore like brad said.
But you can restore from a latest backup from itunes after restore. I hope you had a recent backup made.

You can't do it in one step. Add to iTunes first, Once the tracks are in iTunes you may convert to a different format.

Can't Import Songs To iTunes Using Apple Lossless Encoder

I have about 4,000 songs in FLAC format (which is a lossless format) on my external hard drive. I want to import them into iTunes using the Apple Lossless Encoder. I called Apple support and asked them how to do this, and they told me to go under "Preferences" in iTunes and chose to import using Apple Lossless Encoder.
I did this using Preferences>General>Import Settings, and then went to File>Add Folder to Library, however, it still imported my songs as AAC Audio Files. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

iTunes cannot read nor import FLAC files - not without third-party plugins, anyway, and I don't know of any that will allow iTunes to convert a FLAC file to another format - so I'm a bit confused as to the procedure you're following. If all you're doing is using the Add to Library command and choosing the FLAC files, it's quite possible that iTunes is misinterpreting the format and adding what is in reality an invalid link with erroneous format information.
If you have some sort of third-party plugin for FLAC for iTunes, please post that information and perhaps someone here can determine whether iTunes can do a conversion successfully.

I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?

iCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data. However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup. Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge. This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup.

Apple TV 1st Gen and no synch options in iTunes 10.0.01

I just fired up my old Apple TV to do a synch with iTunes 10. Something weird has happened. My synched content has gone from my Apple TV. So I thought ok just synch it all again. Its happened before. I went to iTunes, found the ATV and paired them again. Looked ok but then when I click on the ATV tab I only get two tabs, Settings and Photos. Settings has no options and Photos sees my photos but appears not to synch. Where have all the tabs for Movies, Podcast, Music etc gone??? On the ATV I see I can stream all the content but nobody told me synch was being wiped out. Can anyone tell me what is going on?? Big thanks PW, Scotland and Croatia.

I assumed that by using time machine to import everything onto the new iMac that the new machine was effectively the "old machine". Maybe not. It was set to sync to the old mac, so will try setting up the Apple TV again on it's computers tab.
Still worried that I can't find the "find Apple TV's" option in iTunes prefs though.

Error message when importing CD in iTunes 7.5

I just downloaded 7.5 last night and now I can't import my CDs into iTunes. I get a red x next to the song and the following message box pops up: "An error occured while trying to import the file "(song name)" The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for this file"
I didn't have any problem with the CD before and with the older version of iTunes which came with my iPod.
Can someone please tell me what to do? Thanks!

Normally you'd want to create a new topic for this, as you just posted your question in a thread that doesn't have anything to do with your error.
And your problem is that you have a 64 bit edition of Windows. iTunes isn't compatible with it (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301301).

I have the same problem. Right now my iPhone 5S shows 3 instances of the computer to which it is connected under Settings » General » iTunes WiFi Sync. I'm having problems connecting and syncing, and this is probably the cause: the phone chooses one of these connections, and it isn't the one that's actually in use. What's probably happening is that the phone and computer establish a connection using a dynamic IP address, the address becomes "disassociated" due to error, another address is associated, the phone retains each address/link, and each link is displayed as if it represents a separate computer (the fact that the name of the computer is identical is ignored, as the only thing that is considered important is the IP address). But that's all conjecture. More important, I'm not sure how to fix the problem. A network reset doesn't do it.

Where is the 'Alert Me' option in iTunes 11?

I can't find the option to 'alert me' or 'follow' an artist in the iTunes store in iTunes 11. I sent an email to support but they didn't help very much:

Okay, below is an update with the reply I got from my Apple support agent.
Now I'm not sure why or how she thought that that might help me, and I did in fact indulge her for the sake of the argument. Result: Nooooope, no Alert Me link anywhere. So don't waste too much time signing in or out of the Store, it won't bring the feature back.
I replied to her and am awaiting another response, hoping to escalate the issue with the higher ups.
P.S.: Dear Apple Support Tech: No, you information was not "needful" at all!

Denis, please follow the instruction given below to add artists to wish list on iTunes 11:
Go to your computer and follow these step:
- If iTunes is open go to the top menubar and to Store then sign out of iTunes.
- Now quit iTunes
- Now open iTunes
- Go to the top menu bar then go to Store and Sign in with account XXXXX
- Go the iTunes Store main page and to the bottom and Free on iTunes get the free song of the week. If you are asked to agree to the new terms of service read then accept them. If you are asked to update your billing info you can do one of the following depending on if you want a credit card on the account or not.
- if you do not want a credit card on the account select NONE then Done and Done again
- if you want a credit card on the account. Put in your security code for your credit card then click done.
You will need to refresh any device you use by following these steps:
- Go to Settings
- Go to Store
- Select Sign out
- Select sign in with existing account
- You will be asked to verify the information please put in the exact information you just put on the account on the computer. Now put the artist you want your watch list.

I have some files I am working with. Details and what happened:
Had some music files where I was doing some trimming/splitting. Files worked fine in itunes.
Open the files in Quicktime Pro 7 to trim them. Exported to aif.
Opened the files with itunes. They open and play just fine.
In Itunes I click"create AAC version" to convert them.
I receive the message "An error occurred while trying to import the file. The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for this file."
I don't know what to do from here. Suggestions?

Make sure that the AIFFs that you export are set for 16 bit PCM.
Also, assuming that you are using 44.1 kHZ sampling in your AIFFs, make sure that you are not trying to use 48 kHz in the AAC.

What happened to the "Create New Mp3 Version" option in iTunes 11.2.2?

I tried going into the file encoder in Edit>Preferences>General>Import Options because there is usually an option that I can set it to that will allow me to make an mp3 copy of any song (purchased or copied off of a CD), but I see now that it does not work any more and I'm completely clueless as to why. I've been searching the threads but they have been no help. I've looked at the outdated support page, which says to do exactly the thing that no longer works for me. Can anyone help me? I'm using Win8 and would prefer not to use any converters outside of iTunes. Thank you!

Okay, for some reason, I tried this yesterday at least six times and it did not even change the settings. Today, I went into the Import Settings and changed it to mp3 encoder, hit 'OK', then hit 'OK' in the preference menu (same thing I did yesterday) and it suddenly decided to show up. That was weird... Sorry, but thanks for writing anyway. I don't know what happened...
