Import Outlook Express from only data files
I am working with a person who recently bought a new Mac. She has a complete backup image of her old hard drive saved on DVD but she has already gotten rid of the old Mac. On her old Mac, she used OS 9 and Outlook Express for E-mail. She had several hundred messages saved that she wants imported into Mail in OS X. However when I go to import the Outlook mailboxes, Mail says "Outlook and Classic will be started." Is it actually necessary that I install Classic support, install Outlook Express inside Classic, and drop in the data files, simply to import the mailboxes? The messages are obviosuly contained in one file named "Messages" in the previous /Documents/Microsoft Userdata/Identities/Main Identity folder - the "Messagse" file is somewhere along the lines of 200MB in size. Also, what will I do when Intel macs start to hit the streets that can't even boot Classic in the first place? Are there other OS-X only ways to import Outlook Express data files into Mail?
Before going for any third party utility, I think you should try the free Outlook Express basic repair kit provided by Microsoft, which include:
Deletion of temporary internet files
Compacting all folders
Re-register Outlook Express and its libraries

How to import Outlook Express WAB into TB
I copied a WAB file that was exported from Outlook Express in a Windows XP machine onto the desktop of a different computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. I then clicked on import > address book> Outlook Express file. It says done, but it never finds the WAB to import and the new address book it created is empty. Where do I need to place the old WAB file for TB to import it? Or, am I doing something else wrong?

I'm trying to import contacts to outlook 2011 from a cvs file. I've followed all the steps, mapped the fields, etc. It appears to import all 900 contacts, but after finishing nothing appears in my contact list. Any ideas on why this is not working?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Looking for sample PL/SQL package in importing data from flat data files into Oracle. Possible using the UTL_FILE.FOPEN and UTL_FILE.GET_LINE functions ?
SQL Loader is tailor-made for importing data from flat-files.
There's way less code to write and it is usually faster than coded approach so this may be better solution for you, depending on details of your situation.

Problem with ArrayLists and writing and reading from a .dat file (I think)
I'm brand new to this forum, but I'm sure hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with ArrayLists. This program was originally created with an array of objects that were displayed on a GUI with jtextFields, then cycling thru them via jButtons: First, Next, Previous, Last. Now I need to add the ability to modify, delete and add records. Both iterations of this program needed to write to and read from a .dat file.
It worked just like it was suppose to when I used just the array, but now I need to use a "dynamic array" that will grow or shrink as needed: i.e. an ArrayList.
When I aded the ArrayList I had the ArrayList use toArray() to fill my original array so I could continue to use all the methods I'd created for using with my array. Now I'm getting a nullPointerException every time I try to run my program, which means somewhere I'm NOT filling my array ???? But, I'm writing just fine to my .dat file, which is confusing me to no end!
It's a long program, and I apologize for the length, but here it is. There are also 2 class files, a parent and 1 child below Inventory6. This was written in NetBeans IDE 5.5.1.

Its a dumb question, but with NetBeans how do I find out which reference could be null? I'm not very familiar with how NetBeans works with finding out how to debug. Do you understand anyway when and why a NullPointerException is been thrown? It is a subclass of RuntimeException and those kind of exceptions are very trival and generally indicate an design/logic/thinking fault in your code.

Events or attributes triggered by data coming from a data file
Without using scripts, is there any way to have rectangles or textboxes act on values coming from a data file? If not, does anyone know or have some scripting suggestions to do that. For examplle if the value in a textbox was greater than 10 coming from a data record, could the textbox change color, or any other attribute to make it change from record to recortd as it is being viewed or printed?

I'm trying to create a program that will read data from two dat files that are linked by a reference code in each file.
I have been using StringTokenizer to read from one file as follows:
but the problem is that the dat files contain int, String and double values.

Outlook 2010 stuck on Data File Check in Progress
First off, I'm using Exchange 2007 and the user has Outlook 2010 installed on a Windows 7 32 bit machine. When the user opens outlook, the Data File Check in Progress gears show up in the bottom toolbar, and Outlook becomes unstable and eventually unresponsive.
I suspect the issue is that they have a 5 GB ost file and Outlook is having trouble reading the whole thing and fixing any errors. I'm trying to figure out how to cancel the data file check. I've set the user up on a different Win7 machine and Outlook loaded
the .ost fine so I'm not worried about a corrupted profile. I've tried running Outlook in safe mode, removing and readding the mail profile, manually replacing the ost with the file from the other machine, even removing office 2010 and reinstalling but nothing
seems to clear whatever is telling Outlook to perform a data file check. Is there any way to get the file check to stop, or does anybody know how to stop it from crashing Outlook? Let me know if you need any more information and I'll gladly provide it. Thanks

EDIT: I ended up removing the user's account from windows and added them again and it worked fine. Something in the user's account must have been messing it up.Hi
Did you try deleting the outlook folder from C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook or delete all the files within that directory? and start outlook so it redownload the data from exchange?
When recreating the new profile make sure you dont enable cache mode and see if outlook opens fine when working online with exchange. -

Outlook Express doesn't have any direct relationship to Firefox. It is a stand-alone email program on your computer. -
Sqlldr - can you skip last row from a data file

I need to skip last line from the data file when I load the data into the tables. Is that possible to do using sqlldr, if yes How?
Also, the first row in the data file, which has a single column needs to be loaded into all the rows of the table. How can i do that?

The first line needs to go into all the rows, and the last row needs to be skipped. Remaining can be loaded normally. I think this would take multiple loads. Can anybody please help.

Time Capsule by default backup only data files and excludes program files like Photoshop, Lightroom, and MS Office, etc... right since if crash I can reinstall and not want to take up disk space for applications that I have CD to reinstall? Or do I have to manually exclude these?
Time Machine will back all files except files like caches, trash or temp files, you can select with file you would like to exclude by going into the Time Machine preferences.http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427

HELP ME! Creating a table from a data file

I'm writing an application for data visualization. The user can press the "open file" button and a FileChooser window will come up where the user can select any data file. I would like to take that data file and display it as a table with rows and columns. The user needs to be able to select the coliumns to create a graph. I have tried many ways to create a table, but nothing seems to work! Can anyone help me?! I just want to read from the data file and create a spreadsheet type table... I won't know how many rows and columns I'll need in advance, so the table needs to be dynamic!

You would be better to use an external table and then remove duplicate data using SQL as you query the data to insert it to your destination table.
