Import photo from iPhoto & photo goes blue turning up contrast

I imported a photo into Aperture, since I need more customisation than iPhoto can probably handle, doing a passport photo.
But as soon as I make any changes the photo goes bazonkas.
Here's what happens when I turn up the contrast just a tad. The more I turn up the contrast the worse the blue gets.
Turn back to 0, the photo goes back to normal.
Can anyone explain what's going on here?

The good news is that the photo is not turning Blue. Aperture is indicating cold (or underexposed) areas in the shot. Hot areas (possible overexposed) are indicated in Red.
You can turn off this feature simply by unchecking 'Hightlight hot and cold areas' in the View menu.

  • I created a new Lightroom catalog for iPhone photos. After importing files from iPhoto photos are randomly popping up and deleting other photos! Is this a virus? A bug? A corrupt catalog? How do I fix it? I just installed 5.6 and that didn't resolve it.

I updated my computer software...I don't know what else to do and I can't find any information about this online.
    Please help! Thanks.

Geoff  for a few years I used iPhoto for my iPhone files.
Now that I am not using iPhoto any longer I attempted to move my old iPhoto phone files into my Lightroom iPhone catalog.
    A couple possibilities are that:
    1) There was a problem with the export/import from iPhoto to Lightroom. I've been reading up on how to do it correctly...
One article said to make a copy of the master catalog in iPhoto, export it and then import it into Lightroom. This is what I did.
I read another article that said exporting as Original from iPhoto and then importing into LR also worked so I did that with another iPhone catalog from my laptop.
    2) Maybe it's a file name situation? Perhaps the phone rolled over and there are old and new files with the same names.
The strange thing about that is that older photos are popping up and replacing/deleting newer ones.
I would think the newer files would replace older ones if that was the case.
    Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks.

That is normal for photos synced from a computer to a phone using iTunes. Synced photos were never placed in the Camera Roll. Additionally since iOS 8 there is no Camera Roll: http://appleinsider.com/articles/14/09/19/goodbye-camera-roll-where-to-find-your -photos-in-ios-8

  • Photos from Iphoto are turning pink

Hi Everyone. My son is trying to make a montage in IMovie HD 6 (we just got it). He's using still photos from iPhoto. The problem is perfect pictures are turning pinkish/red when he puts them in his template. I can't figure out what's going wrong. We're VERY frustrated.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

There's a bug in iMovie 6 that applies a red tint when importing BMP images — those with the .bmp extension. It occurs only when importing with the Ken Burns checkbox turned ON.
Save the BMP image as a JPEG before importing to iMovie and all should be fine.
iPhoto lets you Export the photo to another copy that uses the JPEG format.

  • I just downloaded Yosemite and all my iPhotos have disappeared! I tried importing them from the photo library but it said there wasn't enough space on my hard drive which is rubbish, because they were there before. How do I get them back to iPhoto?

I just downloaded Yosemite and all my iPhotos have disappeared! I tried importing them from the photo library but it said there wasn't enough space on my hard drive which is rubbish, because they were there before. How do I get them back to iPhoto?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Problem importing photos from iPhoto

I want to import photos from iPhoto. I only want to import photos from two or three albums in iPhoto on my iMac. When I plug in the iPad Air, I choose sync from selected albums. I choose the albums I want to import from and click on "sync" or "apply". When the sync process gets to step 5, "importing photos", it stays on that step never able to proceed to step 6. Is this an iCloud problem? Thanks for your help.

I found out what the problem was. "iCloud Photo Sharing" was turned off on my iPad. Now everything is working great. I would have just deleted the inquiry, but I could not find out how to do that.

  • Importing edited photos from iPhoto

What settings do I need to change in order to import only my edited versions of photos from iPhoto into aperture 3?

    thanks for the reply,
I certainly understand your point of course.
Well, I thought since they were already in iPhotos original library, why have them saved twice. I do understand that they would be easily retrieved and used if in Aperture for sure.  However, I guess when Aperture imports them or iPhoto exports them to Aperture, they are sent with edited version along with the original. I then figured out how to use the stacks in Aperture. I was going to make a slideshow and noticed that when I pressed the slide show that it was adding both the edited and orignal version to the slide show, so all I had to do was to close all Stacks and it worked as I wanted.
But I quess I would like to know if there are now two versions of the originals taking up space on my HDs, one in iPhotos library and one in Aperture. I have 16,000 photos and want to save space on my hard drives. So the next question would be what happens to the orignal library in iPhoto when you export your iPhoto library into Apertures library?
    Thanks,

  • Should i delete my photos from iPhoto after I import to aperture

should i delete my photos from iPhoto after I import to aperture? What is the easiest way to do this?

    Depends.
Did you copy the files into the Aperture Library on Import?
If so, it's safe to do so. My tip: wait a few weeks until you're happy that you're committed to Aperture.
Drag the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder to the trash.

  • Error message when importing photos from iPhoto

I have been trying to import pictures from iPhoto and when I try to set the duration to about 7 seconds with 240 photos, it says
    ERROR DURING IMPORT
The file could not be imported: There is not enough disk space left to import Macintosh HD/Users/........../Pictures/iPhoto Library/2005/07/11/030_30.JPG
Is there anyway I can import all of these files with a duration of around 7 seconds?

    Hi Seth:
    Welcome to the forum!
You might want to run a disk and permissions repair to find that extra space.

  • How can I import video and photos from iphoto to imovie?

Hi, I am having trouble importing media from iphoto into imove (imovie 10.5)
I am using a macbook pro 13 inch, early 2013 running mavericks.
I have created an event in imovies into which I would like to import both photos and videos from my iphoto library. However, when the import window opens, the list of options from where I can import has iphoto, but it is not clickable; I can not open it.
I have successfully imported from iphoto in the recent past on the same computer, but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong this time.
    Thanks for any suggestions

    OK, according to
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3290
your camera is supported by iMovie 9.  Perhaps the question is better asked in the iMovie forum.  Would you like me to ask a moderator to move the thread?

  • How do you import photos from the photo library on an iPhone using iPhoto?

Hello,  I am trying to find a way to import photos from the Photo Library on my iPhone using iPhoto.  It seems that the default setting only allows for photos in the 'camera roll' section to be imported and not the full photo library.  We recently had to replace a hard drive and only had our photos backed up on mobile devices (iphone and ipad), but would like to import them on to our computer.  Thank you.

No, iPhoto can't access these files. There are several apps that will recover the material from an iOS device and bring them over to the Mac.

  • Importing photos from iphoto to iphone

I have the 'old' version of the iphone and cannot transfer photos from iphoto to the iphone. When i click on the photos tab for the iphone in itunes, the albums and everything except "sync photos from" at the very top are grayed out. Then my only option is to import everything from iphoto onto the iphone, which i do not want to do.
So -- how do I import only certain folders from iphoto onto the phone? How do i get the options below to not be grayed out?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

    newuser1969,
Did you try to rebuild the photo library?
You can find out if the issue is caused by the iPhoto library by testing with an alternate library. Just launch iPhoto while holding Option as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229 Then import a few photos and open iTunes.
If the issue only happens with your main library, it probably needs to be rebuilt using the article I linked in my first response.
If iTunes does not see the alternate iPhoto library, you may want to uninstall and reinstall iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224
