Import photos from friend's iphone
If I connect my iphone to my mac, it automatically shows up on the locations in the Aperture import menu. However, I want to import some photos from a friend's iphone and when I connect it to y mac, it will not "find" that iphone. How can I import photos from that iphone? Thanks!
Try to launch iTunes with that iPhone connected. You will probably be prompted to unlock the phone with passcode. And then confirm on the iPhone, that you trust that Mac.
Now the iPhone should appear in aperture's import panel.

how to import photo from laptop to iphone? is it possible to do so?
You're welcome.
The photos are imported from the Camera Roll, not synced.
Mac or Windoze PC?
Which application on your computer are you using for the import?
With a Mac, both iPhoto and the Image Capture application include an option and a prompt to delete the photos from the Camera Roll are the import process is complete - as when importing photos from any other digital camera.
The Windoze Scanner and Camera Wizard includes the same. -
How to import photo from album in Iphone into computer?
How to import photo from album in Iphone into computer?
You can't. You can import from the Camera Roll only.
Photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process should remain on your computer. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process - the original resolution of these photos is reduced, which is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported. These photos should remain on your computer and be included with your computer's backup.
There are some 3rd party paid utilities that provide for transferring these photos in the opposite direction but such utilities are not supported by Apple and the original resolution of these photos will be lost.
Here is one such utility.

Import photos from iPhoto to iPhone
How does one import photos from iPhoto to iPhone?
I have looked on the user guide and have found no answer.
Thanks!Question: How do you just have the Photo albums on the Iphone and not the Photo Library? Or just have the photo library without the photo albums? I have 146 photos in the library and the folders (two with 87 in one and 59 in the other) That are also in the library. It seems like having duplicates will take up space that I don't want to take up.

Can't Import Photos from Camera or iPhone
This is a recent development. For some reason when I plug in my iPhone or my Canon Power Shot I can't load photos I've taken to iPhoto '09. When I switch users and go to my wife's iPhoto on the same computer, i have no problem loading photos with the same camera (she has no trouble with her Phone). I have had to resort to emailing photos from my wife so that I can then manually load them to iPhoto. I can't even use the pull down menu in email to save photos to iPhoto. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
I am having a similar problem. For the last 3 months iPhoto has worked as expected. It automatically starts accessing the pictures from my camera when I plug the USB from the camera into my MacBook. Then I can select which pictures I want to import. The last time I was able to do this function normally was on Sunday of this week.
Now, however, when I plug the USB into the Mac it does not start to automatically access the pictures. I tried the solutions mentioned in this thread already and they didn't resolve it. When I went to the console, I got the following error message last night:
10-03-10 10:49:32 PM [0x0-0xe00e].com.apple.iPhoto[117] Face Detecting 3 OKAO_Detection(0x18756370,data=2304-bytes 0x1c64000,48x48) failed with -3
This morning the error message is:
10-03-11 6:16:47 AM com.apple.WindowServer[56] Thu Mar 11 06:16:47 MY_NAME'S-MacBook.local WindowServer[56] <Error>: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.
The process works when I plug it into our PC so it must be something I have done to the Mac this week. I had added a program requested by Facebook when I uploaded pictures earlier this week. I thought that might be causing the problem so I deleted it as well as some other programs I had installed for Twitter use. Still having problems.
Thanks if anyone can help me. -
Importing photos from iphoto to iphone
I have the 'old' version of the iphone and cannot transfer photos from iphoto to the iphone. When i click on the photos tab for the iphone in itunes, the albums and everything except "sync photos from" at the very top are grayed out. Then my only option is to import everything from iphoto onto the iphone, which i do not want to do.
So -- how do I import only certain folders from iphoto onto the phone? How do i get the options below to not be grayed out?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me!newuser1969,
Did you try to rebuild the photo library?
You can find out if the issue is caused by the iPhoto library by testing with an alternate library. Just launch iPhoto while holding Option as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229 Then import a few photos and open iTunes.
If the issue only happens with your main library, it probably needs to be rebuilt using the article I linked in my first response.
If iTunes does not see the alternate iPhoto library, you may want to uninstall and reinstall iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224

Limitation Importing Photos from Iphoto to Iphone
I have over 28,000 photos on an external drive and want to import just selected photos, individual from there to my Iphone. In Itunes, I have the option to Sync Photo from Iphoto, or I can choose to sync from a specific folder.
If I pick Iphoto, I then have the option to pick all photos and albums (28,582 photos), a selection of recent events (1,3,5,10,or 20 most recent) or selected albums. Selected albums only gives me 3 choices Last Import, Last 12 Months or another folder called "test". None of these options allows me to pick an event or individual photo from say 4 years ago as an example.
If I choose the option to sync from a specific folder, I am also unable to navigate to a particular event other than folders that have been exported from Iphoto into the pictures folder. If I try to navaigate to applications and pick Iphoto, its grayed out and I cannot select it.
Please tell me that I do not have to export each specific picture one by one just to get them onto my Iphone???Have you created any albums in iPhoto? if so, you should see them in the list along with "Last 12 Months" and "Last Import"; if not, when you do create them you'll see them. Create an album called "iPhone" (or whatever else you want to call it), put the pictures you want on your iPhone into that folder and sync it.

IPhoto wont import photos from iphone
I'm trying to import photos from my 32GB iPhone 3 into iphoto on my macbook pro. This is the first time I've had this difficulty. The curious thing is it did import 4 photo & 2 movie img files. After about an hour waiting while it processes 188 images it lists the jpg images and says they are unreadable. But they are viewable on the iphone and I can see the ones I email. What might be going wrong here? Any ideas appreciated.
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
- Did it ever work properly?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key ) -
10.10.3 Photos: How to Delete Previously Imported Photos from iPhone?
iPhoto has an option to import only new photos from an iPhone, and then an option to delete all previously imported photos from a connected iPhone after an import session. In this way, I could avoid having duplicate photos in iPhoto, and also remove all photos from my iPhone photo roll, including any that had come into iPhoto via Photo Stream.
This functionality seems to be gone in Photos, which in my opinion is a huge step back.
It seems I am left either to import all photos and then delete duplicates from Photos, or to import only the odd new photos, and still have all the photos that were imported via Photo Stream remain clogging up my Camera Roll, which I like to keep clean.
Has anyone found a way to handle this task like used to be handled in iPhoto?I believe the architecture behind Photos and the iCloud photo library is that you'll have a unified photo library across all your devices, and that you can manage your library from any device linked to iCloud. So the answer is, you cannot import images to iCloud and then delete them from your camera roll, doing so would delete them from the iCloud photo library.
In the iCloud Settings on your iPhone, you can set up iCloud to optimize storage for your iPhone. That is, you'll have smaller sized images stored on your device to view. If you wish to edit an image, the full-sized image will be downloaded from iCloud. I believe Favorites are stored as full-sized images at all times.
If this isn't the behavior you desire, you'll have to disable iCloud photos and use an alternative cloud storage setup such as Dropbox. I wouldn't link the Camera app to Dropbox, instead I'd use Image Capture to import the images from your phone to the Dropbox photos folder, then delete the images from the iPhone if that's your wish. It may be possible to do something similar with Flickr. They have a Mac app that will automatically upload new images from a source you select. So again you'd use Image Capture to import your photos from you iPhone to a folder you designate on your Mac. Once in the Flickr cloud, they're not linked to anything on your Mac. If you delete them from your Mac, they remain in Flickr. -
IPhoto quits unexpectedly every time I try to import photos from iPhone
Hi
I'm struggling with what seems a common problem... But I looked at some of the solutions and they are not working for me. iPhoto quits when I try to import photos from iPhone.
I tried to look for the 3ivx file/folder that has been mentioned as the solution, but I don't even have the folder. I've updated iPhoto, it's the latest version: 9.2.3

1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -
IPhoto 11 won't import photo from iPhone 5 on new MBP
Brand new MacBookPro out of box experience -- picked up the laptop yesterday. Everything seems to work until I get to iPhoto (as usual). Plugged in my iPhone 5 and tried to import photos. Error -- Unreadable Files: 1 IMG_0434.JPG. Ok... Not sure what's wrong but when I go back to import photos there are now fewer to import. Tried again. Same error. Even fewer photos to import again. Tried to find the photo on the iPhone but despite the confusing array of presentation options there is no way to simply find one by file name. And hence no way to delete the offending photo. Or to import it.
Similarly there appear to be two movies to be imported but iPhoto reports "Error downloading image. iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image." Not helpful. And again no way to remove the offending files. No way to find them on the iPhone. No way to delete them through iPhoto.
Oh, and is there still not any way to turn off the stupid events stuff? This just causes more confusion for me when trying to enjoy my photos. Alternatively can I import photos from my iPhone using another app and move them directly to the file system and eliminate iPhoto from my workflow altogether???Can you access these images and movies with Image Capture (in the Applications Folder) ?

Can't import photos from iphone to iphoto
I have an iphone 5 and so does my wife. We have an iMac with iphoto version 9.5.1. We have imported photos from our phones to iphoto many times without any problems. After we both updated our phones to iOS 8.1 iphoto will not recognize that our phones are connected to the computer. Finder also does not show that our phones are connected. iTunes still opens automatically and sync's with our phones, but I can't get any photos off our phones.
I have read several posts in the community and nothing has worked so far.
I do not see how to find my phone, or any other device, in the preferences in iphoto. iphoto does not automatically open any more when we connect our phones to the computer, but the preferences shows that iphoto should open any time a camera device is connected to the computer.
Any ideas?Hi ..
You can use the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder to import photos from iOS devices to iPhoto.

Can't import photos from my iPhone into iLife '08 after upgrade to 10.5.1
I can't import photos from my iPhone into iLife '08 anymore after upgrade to 10.5.1.
It used to work great...now this. Sad, sad, sad I am.
I tried the "FIX" of refreshing phone and sync history, but it DID NOT WORK for me. HELP!
Please help, somebody.
Saint PodoreoI have the exact same issue, but with a standard IMAP account and SMTP. My iPhone can send out, using the EXACT same settings, from the exact same WiFi connection...but the 10.8 MacBook cannot send at all. The only account I can send out on is my iCloud account.
I have also tried all the steps above...no luck.
I have also turned off all network filters and firewalls...no luck. (And as I said above, my iPhone is on the exact same WiFi connection and using the exact same settings, and it can send fine.)
Other messages I've found via Google have suggested simply forcing the SMTP server to use Port 25, but that didn't work for me either.
