Import photos from Photoshop Elements

You don't import photos at all. No importing!!
Like the help documentation says, in Lightroom you choose File->Upgrade Photoshop Elements Catalog
If you want to use LR3, then use LR3. If you want to use LR4, then use LR4 and skip LR3.
Lightroom 5 is not out yet, so you can't use LR5. When it is out, you could upgrade your PSE catalog directly to LR5.

Import photos iPhoto - Photoshop Elements

Hello,
I'm using Photoshop Elements 12 trial version. I would buy it but i got one problem with the automatic import function in Photoshop Elements.
On the first start of Photoshop Elements, it asked me if I want to import all my photos from iPhoto. So I did import all photos.
In iPhoto my photos have been organizes like this:
> April (folder)
> Mai (folder)
     - Wohnung (event)
     - Exkursion Werder (event)
> Juni (folder)
> Juli (folder)
      - Exkursion Schweiz (event)
But now in Photoshop I got this:
> 20110908-192729 (folder)
> 20110908-192733 (folder)
> ... (and so on)
Is this really the way Photoshop Elements imports all my photos? Do I really have to organize all my thousands of photos again?

I wanted to use Photoshop Elements Organizer and Editor only and not continue to use iPhoto because it’s very slow.
Do you think it would be easier if I just continue to use iPhoto as the Organizer and use Photoshop Elements Editor as the editor?
Seems there is no way to import iPhoto albums and events to Photoshop Elements Organizer.

First of all, are you certain you want to ditch iphoto permanently? It's not necessary to do that unless you wish. So are you sure that you no longer want iphoto at all?

Deleting a photo from Photoshop Elements 11 editor

I deleted a photo from Photoshop Elements 11 organizer. How do I delete it in Photoshop Editor?

Nothing is actually "in" the editor. It's just like most other programs you might use to open a file, not like organizer that's making a database of your photos. Just close it there, either from the image window or tab's close button, or by pressing ctrl+W (command+W on a mac).

I am not sure this is going to work. For one thing, the preferences file is in a different place in Mountain Lion. It is at: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.pli st. I wouldn't try to move the .plist file, I'd be very surprised if it would work.
I would do a different approach and start with just recreating the mail account(s) you have on the new machine from scratch and let them download your mail from the server. Then if there were e-mails not on the server any more, but stored in the black macbook, I'd copy them from the mailboxes folder, from the old machine to the new. I'm not sure where they are in 10.5.8, but in ML they are at ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes.
At each stage along the way I'd do a backup, so in case it screws things up, you can revert to a functional Mail.app.

I suppose you are using the organizer : you'll be able to recover your PSE5 catalogs either by a catalog conversion on the same computer or by the backup / restore process.

Problem sync photos from Photoshop Elements since iTunes 7

I have been having problems syncing my photos ever since Apple launched iTunes 7 and iOS 6. I run Windows 7, I sync my photos from Photoshop Elements to the iPad 2 and the iPhone 3GS. I never had problems with the sync prior to the September changes by Apple. What happens is that only a portion of the photos that I have earmarked for sync in their respective selected albums are making it to the devices.
In terms of troubleshooting, I have tried many things to no avail. I have tried to add a new photo to an album to sorta kickstart a sync. I have deleted the iPod photo cache from the Elements Organizer. I have removed photos from the device. I have tried syncing without syncing Photos.
None of these have worked. It's pretty clear that there is a glitch in Apple's updates, which will need to be addressed along the way. Photos traveled seamelssly in this method until the September updates.
Anyone else experience this, or have any last-dash ideas? It's pretty frustrating.

Of course, by "iTunes 7", I meant "iTunes 10.7", but can't seem to edit my OP.

I am experiencing the same problem after upgrading to PSE13, but haven't found a solution yet.

Another permanent workaround (which doesn't require to copy the pse database every time you want to sync) is described here: Elements 13: Cannot synchronise photo albums in iTunes after upgrading from Elements 11

Import photos to Photoshop Elements 9 from Canon EOS 500D

Lately I'm having problem with importing photos from Canon EOS 500D. Elements recognise the camera and return numbers of photos and so on correctly but when I hit 'Get media' nothing happens. The dialogframe stalls and I have to kill it via Windows Activity center. If I copy the files from camera into a file on the computer and the import from there it works ok and the same if I put the memorystick into a cardreader. i have also a Canon PowerShot G9 and there is no problem importing from that camera.
Where is the problem, in my Canon EOS 500D or in Photoshop Elements 9?
Ver of Photoshop Elements 9: 9.0.3.
Firmwareversion of Canon EOS 500D: 1.1.0.
Windows version : Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit version, servicepack 1.

If you open the Organizer and press Ctrl+G that will launch the photo downloader.
Is your 500D recognized as a device when connected to the computer?

Are you using the Adobe Elements Organizer to manage the photos? You'll need to export/save a full sized copy to the Desktop, import the file from there to iPhoto and then delete the copy on the Desktop.

Excluding subfolders when importing photos in Photoshop Elements 10

In past versions of Photoshop Elements you could exclude subfolders when importing photos from files and folders. In version 10 the "get photos from subfolders" is greyed out. I normally do not want to include subfolders when importing. I only want the top current folder. Why the change?

Just a further thought.
I have now tried versions 9 and 10 on a Windows 7 system and they both work the same. The "include subfolder" box is not active until I select a folder from the right side - selecting one on the left side doesn't activate it.
Which operating system are you using?
Did you change operating systems when you changed to PSE 10?

Tranferring photos from Photoshop Elements 6 to 8

I recently upgraded from Photoshop Elements 6 to 8. However, many of my pictures are still only in version 6. How do I import them into 8 and avoid duplicates? Thanks!

Photoshop Elements 8 is the latest version.
There is no upgrade.
If you decide to install PEv.8, I would leave PEv.6 in place until you are sure that the catalog has transferred satisfactorily.
You should also evaluate if your equipment satifies the system requirements of the program.

Importing Photos From Photoshop Album To Photoshop Elements 9

I recently transfered about 14,000 photos from Adobe Photoshop Album into a new computer with Photoshop Elements 9 installed. In Photoshop Album, I often edited my photos and saved the originals. However, only the edited version appeared on the organizer screen. With Photoshop Elements installed, a thumbnail appeared for each Album-edited photo on the organizer screen as a version set with tags and photo description in place but no image. In most cases clicking on the black right-pointed arrow brings up another imageless box (to the right of the previous thumbnail) that is identical to the first one, tags and all. In a few other cases, the edited image appears to the right with tags. The latter isn't too bad since I can delete the original imageless thumbnail from the organizer.
I have tried importing a couple of files of photos from the new hard drive into the organizer. I get the original which is tagged and the edited photos untagged. I want to be able to bring up my edited photos when I use certain keyword tags rather than the originals so don't have to hunt for them in the organizer. At the same time, I want to avoid having to retag several thousand edited photos. Can anyone help. Thanks for reading this message.

Hi Fred,
I don't recommend using this software for anything other than
cataloging. If you want to move your images you should consider
Photoshop Elements because it is meant to perform this activity. PSA SE
is just a little cataloging applet that would get really confused if you
even tried it. You would have to completely redo your catalog.

How do I display RAW photos from Photoshop Elements 11 on Apple TV?

Hi,
Ever since I got my Apple TV 3rd gen I have been able to simply turn on itunes and stream my albums from photoshop without an issue. The shots are mostly RAW and came out perfectly on the big screen. They also still appear on my ipad without any issues at all. However... Yesterday I switched on the PC and Apple TV and where the raw shots had been there are now just blank spaces in every album. They are all numbered so Apple is recognising where the files are and counting them but none can be displayed. I am now reading that Apple TV can't read raw files but I'm not going mad, I have bored dozens to death with my slîde shows so I must have done something or updated something which has thrown a spanner in the works

Home sharing is on PC, iphone 4, original ipad with same passwords
All albums/raw shots are viewable on PC and ipad
I have reset everything...repeatedly
When googling this I find no one with the same issue!

You can either drag them in Organizer workspace or import the folder. Or you can also use Adobe Photo Downloader. There are many options listed here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/getting-started/import-camera-or-card-reader.htm l

Moving photos from photoshop elements 3.0 to photohop elements 4.0

Photoshop elements 3.0 starter edition was installed on my computer by Dell. I upgraded to photoshop elements 4.0 but did not register the 3.0 edition. I did register the 4.0 edition. I want to move photos from 3.0 to 4.0 but a screen requiring tht I register 3.0 pops up. I can not remove the screen but I can see my photos behind the screen. Becasue 3.0 is old you ccan not register the program now. Any help? Give details because I am not expert on computers.

I am confused about your exact sequence of events
Did you ever actually use that version 3 starter edition which came preloaded?
(you mention seeing photos behind the Register v3 pop-up)
You say that you upgraded to version 4 - did you upgrade just recently ? I wonder because PSE 4 first became available in the 4th quarter of 2005.
Also, a more specific question -- did you import any new photos to the version 4 Organizer catalog? Or are all your photos in the v3 starter edition?
Normally, I would expect that you could upgrade the v3 starter edition catalog to a v4 PSE catalog AND that you would do that upgrade before you started to use PSE 4.
Perhaps the answeers to my questions above will provide more information so that I and others on the forum can make recommendations.
