Import photos to mac

Trying to figure out how to import photos from iPhone 4S (I'm sure it's the same with 4) to my Mac. Here's what the iPhone user guide says:
Upload photos and videos to your computer: Connect iPhone to your computer using the Dock Connector to USB Cable.
Mac: Select the photos and videos you want, then click the Import or Download button in iPhoto or other supported photo application on your computer.
When I hook up the iPhone to the Mac and open iTunes the iPhone shows up in the left column with Music, Books, etc, but no Photos or Camera Roll. So how can I select the photos I want to transfer to iPhoto?? The photos sync page on the right side of iTunes seems to be only from Mac to iPhone since it also does not include Camera Roll.
Thanks in advance for the help.

The only photos that can be imported to your computer are photos in your camera roll. Use iPhoto to do this. The photo sync is one way: Computer to Phone.

  • How to fix- taking forever to import photos to mac

Why is it taking so much time to import photos into iphoto on my mac?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Best way to import photos onto Mac

    Hello,
I am a photography student and regularly import photos and I have just recieved a new Macbook Pro.
What is the best way for me to import them as when I do it via iPhoto it seems very difficult to find the actual picture folder.
Am I doing something wrong? Should I just copy them into a folder in the Pictures section. And if I then import the photos into iPhoto from a folder on the computer does it then make duplicates?
    Help please!
    Thanks, Andy

What is the best way for me to import them as when I do it via iPhoto it seems very difficult to find the actual picture folder.
Via iPhoto is the easiest way. tWhere he files are stored doesn't matter. (See below)
Should I just copy them into a folder in the Pictures section. And if I then import the photos into iPhoto from a folder on the computer does it then make duplicates?
Yes that workflow would make duplicates.
How to access your photos if you use iPhoto:
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:   You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.  If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running:
For users of 10.6 and later:  You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation  which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and 10.5 Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
Show File:  a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier:  Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.    3.b.
b: On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To use another editor with iPhoto:
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

What would be the reason that my photos from iphone sync to my mac but then the option to import

Could it be that there is no space?  If so, how can I check that?

JPEG or RAW is a setting you make in a camera menu
Yes - it sounds like you may have a USB cable issue
Generally using a card reader is a good idea anyway
a best practice to is to never have any computer program (including iPhoto) delete the photos from the card but to import the photos and keep them and then after at least one successful backup cycle has completed and then reformat the card --  I use three very large (32 GB) cards in rotation so I do not reformat for typically a year or more giving me one more long term backup of my photos

  • Connection of camera  and importing photos

I seem to be having trouble importing photos .My Mac doent seem to want to recognise my camera(Fuji), which has been set to USB , so I cant import anything. Always worked fine before but since I erased my volume by mistake it doesnt work, Any ideas anyone? Thanks

Thanks for the reply.I only use a printer ,which I connect with Usb, and occasionally connect a camcorder via firewire. Neither have given me problems. I checked that link and my G5 has a serial number beginning with w8544 and was bought in November so would fall outside the mentioned period.Image capture preferences is also set on iPhoto . The only thing I can think of is some time ago I had some problmes downloading an office software( forget the name) which meant that when I clicked on the icon I got the applications alright but my desktop disappeared(all grey no icons) which meant I had to switch the mains off and restart.Stupidly in my frustration I did this 4 times. Anyway someone suggested I redownload the operating system and run a repair. Unfortunately I didnt follow the procedure too well and ended up erasing my volume so everything had to be redownloaded. So far everything has worked ok until this business with iPhoto.
    Thanks

  • After using Photostream, I cannot import photos taken by itouch when photostream is off

Before having photostream, I import photo to mac from ipod using iphoto. But after updated photostream, ipod nolonger apprear in iphoto!
Then all photos that is not uploaded into photostream cannot be imported to mac. For PC it may probably be done in the folders, but for mac, no way.
So do I only have one choice: to send them one by one by email? Thanks.

Hye zhwilla, mabey you should sign out of icloud on the devices selected. then turn back on.
Also something to remember, iPhoto automatically downloads photos to events called photostream dec. 2011, etc. so when you do try to copy photos, iPhoto will say it already has downloaded them. Also make sure itunes is running. I assume you have everything updated.

I realise you can you can delete them on your ipod slowly as you have to click on each one, and you can restore your ipod, but surely there is a way to get around this?

Download/install an app is a know possible solution.
    3. Install another app from the App Store
If all user-installed apps are not launching, it could be an Apple ID authorization issue. Download and install an app that isn't already installed on your device to reset this information.
Note: If you have installed apps using multiple Apple ID accounts, you may need to perform this step for each account.

  • TS3195 since installing ios7 on my ipad I can no longer import photos to my Mac using Image Capture or even Preview. The device appears in the device list, but no photos appear. Anyone have a solution for this? Is it another glitch in ios7?

Hi - I just dowloaded io7 to to my mini ipad and now cannot upload the photos on it to my Mac - which I was able to do with the old system, and still can do with my old first generation Ipad. Very annoying. The device appears in the list in Image Capture and Preview, but no photos appear. Is there a way around this? It is the quickest and best way of transferring photos from a mobile device to the computer - but has iOS 7 messed this up???

Hi I have figured it out on my own just today coz what apple suggested didn't help much so I just have to do it by myself.
This is what you need to do:
open your computer and search for autoplay, it will open rightaway and then scroll down look for your device then change "ask everything" to "import photos and videos in windows" connect your ipad again then tthe import box will open.. and your good!
i hope this will help you. Good luck! :-)

  • Can't import photos from finepix A345 to iPhoto or Finepix viewer mac ibook

I had previously imported photos from my fuji finepix A345 camera to iPhoto on my macBookPro 10.4.9. Now I am trying to import new images from the same camera and iPhoto displays a message "no photos to import". I have installed Finepix viewer but it also shows no images to import. I have tried creating a new library on a second non admin account and still iPhoto says "no images to import". I was able to successfully import the same images to my thinkpad T41.
Please help me find a way to import photos from finpix A345 to my mac ibook pro. Note there are no movies in the photos I am trying to import. Thanks.

Are you sure there are images on the card you're importing from? (asking that just in case you chose to 'delete after download' with another computer).
Also, have you perhaps formatted the camera drive/card via another computer instead of from the camera itself?
If your MBP can read the card so can your Macbook. You might want to open 'Image Capture', then go to Preferences and make sure you have an application selected to 'launch' when a camera is connected.
