Import picture never finish

Hi,
When Import a picture from a file, it imports the picture but never finish it.
I Force Quit iPhoto, and the picture was imported.

Chiky:
Where is the file located when you're importing?
Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Also run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Having trouble with imports never finishing

I am having trouble with imports that never finished. It is almost like the pictures are stuck on one image. the only way to get out of Iphoto is to force quit. The next time I open, there are a number of images that still need to be imported, but the import never finishes and seems to stop at the same image. When I go to close down I get the message that Photos are being imported to the library.
    Anyone have any suggestions.
    Thanks

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Check out your iPhoto library and make sure all photos are viewable and there. Force quitting when iPhoto is working can corrupt the database file, Library6.iPhoto. Make a backup copy of it and save in another folder.
First make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library folder. Now download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. Open iPhoto and see if it will work OK.
If not, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select all options.
Lastly use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library. Here's how:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: It can take some time to create the new library if you have a lot of photos. One user reported that with a library of about 5,000 images it took about 12 hours so plan ahead.

  • When I try to import pictures from media card to iPhoto, I'm getting the error 'The following file could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format.'  The file is a jpeg and I've never had this problem before.

When I try to import pictures from media card to iPhoto, I'm getting the error 'The following file could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format.'  The file is a jpeg and I've never had this problem before.

    What version of iPhoto?
What colour profile is the shot?
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • IMovie Never Finishes Optimizing on Import?

So, I am attempting to import a bunch of .MPG files that I had copied to my desktop from a Sony Handycam, into iMovie. This is a project I'm going to be working with in class at my school. Also, another note: I never had this issue when using Mac OS X v10.7.x (Lion).
Now, at first I just let the "Optimize Video" stay checked, as I figured default import settings would be best. But as it never progressed, and never finished, I had to force quit iMovie, and I then tried again, this time with the "Optimize Video" unchecked. This did unfortunately not make any difference.
Could anyone help me figure out a solution to this problem? I really need iMovie for this project.
    Thank you in advance!

    I'm having a problem encoding a Quicktime MPEG-4
movie from a 1 hour DV project. iMovie never
finishes even after leaving it running overnight.
After 10 hours of processing, iMovie still says it
needs over 1500 minutes to complete. This is the
same estimate when I left it the night before.
I have been successful converting other 1 hour DV
movies to Quicktime MPEG-4 using the same process.
Typically, this involves restarting my iBook G4
1.42GHz 1GB so no other apps are still running.
The project I'm trying to convert is a 15.5GB file.
I have 12.5GB of free disk space on my 60GB drive.
I am able to send this problem project to iDVD to
create a DVD for playback in a standalone DVD
    player.
Any tips on how to get this encoding to finish?

Your problem may be from a lack of adequate ram. If you don't have enough memory ram to process your project, it will continue to attempt to run. You may also get error messages stating that your project is too big and may not be able to burn it to DVD. Or, you may not have the right operating system. Depending on which OS you have, may create problems. I too experienced the same problems you have. Also, if you recently upgraded your OS, you may need to update your system firmware, if you haven't already done so. Installing new system software doesn't automatically update your systems firmware, you need to go to Tech Support, or do a search on apples support site, for the latest firmware updates. Once you've found your firmware updates, download and install it to your computer and click update if your computer asks if you want to do this. Hope this helps.

  • Fetching but never finishing while trying to rebuild

have tried to tried to rebuild my mailbox (mailbox was getting populated with multiple duplicate emails), but now, as I run "activity" it's fetching my mail--some 14000 messages, but it's getting hung up around half way through.
    and then just starting over.
consequently, there are now NO emails in my inbox. help! how do I make sure the emails I'm trying to recover aren;t lost?
and why the incessant loop of fetching, never finishing, and then repeating the cycle?
    mail-less in Dallas

    Audrey:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can useiPhoto Library Manager to easily open both of the two libraries on your HD to see if there is duplication or if there are some photos that are not in your primary (located in the Pictures folder) library. If there are some you need to get into the primary library the paid version of iPLM will let you copy rolls or albums between the two libraries and maintain the keywords and comments as shown here.

  • I am using Photoshop Elements 12 and when I am importing pictures the system freezes and needs to be forced quit. When I restart it it continues to bring the pictures in eventually. What is the solution to this?

I am using MAC os version of elements 12 with OS 10.9.4 (the latest). When I am importing pictures from a card elements freezes consistently and needs to be voce closed. When I then restart elements it continues to bring the pictures in but this is very tedious and I need to get the matter resolved,

I would do another rename to disable or just delete all the OldFilm.AEX and OldFilm.AEXOLD in that NewBlue Folder.
If you do, please let me know if that OldFilm.AEX regenerates itself the next time you open Premiere Elements 13.
Here is the strange story...at least from my Premiere Elements 13 Windows perspective...never had the No Disc error issue
Here are some details to sort through trying to figure out why you have 2 OldFilm.AEX file in the NewBlue Folder.
    1. The original OldFilm.AEX file of Premiere Elements 13 has the date of 9/4/2014 (just before the version was released on 9/24/2014).
After the 13.1 update is done (whenever date), that OldFilm.AEX file has the date of 1/31/2015. I first saw notification of the 13.1 Update
    release early in February 2015.
    2. Now in Premiere Elements 13.1, if I take my OldFilm.AEX (date 1/31/2015) and disable it by renaming it to OldFilm.AEXOLD, close out of there, and reopen
the program, the OldFilm.AEX is not seen to regenerate. The OldFilm.AEXOLD remains there as its lone self.
    3. So, I am thinking that your OldFilm.AEXOLD in the screenshoot is "original equipment" that you disabled to get rid of No disc error.
Why the OldFilm.AEX is there also is not clear, but the dating on it suggests that it came along with the 13.1 Update.
Bottom line: let us try the deletion or disabling one more time and see what happens.
Looking forward to further reports on your findings, as your time permits.
    Thanks.

  • Why do imported pictures end up in an "Originals" folder I can't locate?

I am trying to import pictures to IPhoto from a CD. I am choosing "Import to Library" under "Files" on the IPhoto library menu, and then highlighting several folders on the CD.  I click the message that says do not import (all) duplicates. The import occurs. But when I check, the vast majority of the photos I had intended to import are not in the "last imported" area. If I use my "Spotlight" to locate one of the images that didn't import by typing in the exact name of the image (number plus jpg extension) I get two listing of the photo that did not import. One is (as expected) on the CD.  The other is in a folder called "Originals" in my IPhotos library. But when I scan the IPhotos library I cannot find a folder called Originals. In case it's relevant I should mention I have been using IPhotos Library manager, which has been useful. But in this particular instance, I am not using it--just trying a simple import into my IPhotos library.  Thoughts?
    All the best, David

    A few things
1 - Never go directly into the inside of the iPHoto library - there is no reason to and there are no user servicable pieces in it - only access your photos using iPhoto or the media browser - more details are available in the user tip on accessing your iPhoto files -
2 - a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state)  is strongly recommended - a referenced library where that preference has been unchecked is not a good idea
3 - IPLM is not a photo manager - it is a library manager and is used to help manage iPHoto libraries - iPhoto is used to view, access and organize libraries
4 - what is the source o the photos on the CD? Camera? Scans? in events view try looking at the top and the very bottom of the events - depending on the source of the photos and their past history they could be anyplace - but that is a place to look -

  • What is the best way to import pictures from iPhoto without compression?

I'm trying to create a slide show using Final Cut Pro. No, I'm not interested in using iDVD slide show function because it doesn't allow me to do a whole lot. I would like to add titles and music for certain segments with video inserted here and there.
Anyway, when I used the slide show function in iPhoto, exported it out as a quick movie file, and then imported it into Final Cut Pro, I noticed a significant downgrade in quality of images. It obviously looks different from when I play the slide show in iPhoto. What would be the best way to import pictures into Final Cut Pro without any compression?
    Thanks in advance.

I only see Share > Export.
Some versions of iPhoto work that way -it's just Apple moving things around.
what's the difference between exporting it from iPhoto then import it into FCP vs. just importing directly from FCP?
Your first post mentioned exporting a slide show from iPhoto -I assumed that is where your images are stored.
I do not want to import pictures one by one...
You don't have to. iPhoto will let you select as many as you want, or if the images are elsewhere, you can also select multiple files from FCP's Import dialog.
    ...and stick them together manually.
Editing is an art and involves some effort on your part. It is not an automated process. This method opens up far more possibilities, access to filters and color correction and the opportunity to use Motion for even more sophisticated animation.
But, it only allows me to export it as 720 x 480. The original size of my photos is 3872 x 2592. Is there any way I can create a quicktime file in the original size?
You should be aware that 3872 x 2592 is not a standard pixel aspect ratio that is used in video. The images will be resized to the Sequence settings that you set up in Final Cut Pro.
I have never used iPhoto to make a slideshow before, but I just gave it a try and was able to export one with the images in their native size, simply by typing the pixel dimensions into the boxes in the dialog window:
I don't have PhotoMagico myself, but it comes highly recommended by several of the forum regulars.
Perhaps one of them will see this discussion and help with your last question.

  • "the system cannot find the path specified" when importing pictures from iphone

    Hi!
I have an iPhone 5s. My computer is a Windows, with the Windows 8 OS. I have never had a problem importing pictures from my iPhone to my computer until recently. Now, whenever I try, I get this error message:
The following error occurred while importing IMG_1022.JPG:
The system cannot find the path specified.
What do you want to do?
    Try again
    Skip this file
    Skip all files with errors"
I have tried again. I have tried skipping files. Either way, the photos and video will not import from my phone. It is filled up now and I cannot download anything else, or take any more pictures, until I get these files off the phone.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi JeffWilko,
    What is your current situation?
To receive better analyzation, please provide more details?
    1. Could you explain a bit about the sentence ‘installing multiple printers from the portal’ ?
    2. Check the event viewer and share us the related error log.
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Ping the printers
    2. Check if there are network firewall to block the access

  • BUG - Can't import pictures

    Hi,
In LR 1.0, if I try to import my pictures, I can't reorganize them like I'd want. I have to organize them "By Original Folders" or else I get an error message at the end of the import and no pictures are imported.
I get "The following files were not imported. Could not copy a file to the requested location." with a listing of all the files.
Even if I create the required folders beforehand, I still get the error.
Has anybody else experienced this problem? It's annoying because I don't see myself moving all my files manually every time I want import pictures...
I'm running LR on Vista 64-bit and the user profile running LR had full rights on the folders where I store my pictures.

It might be a problem with Vista 64-bit. I am suspecting this, but I wanted to know if anyone else have experienced this.
Donald, no there are no raws associated with the jpegs. They are brand new pictures of a shoot I did last week. They've never been on my computer. I'm gonna shoot a few raws to see if it makes a difference.
I'm not home right now so it will be hard to try anything until tonight, but if you have any ideas of things I should try to narrow my problem, please post them. I tried a few things already but now I'm pretty much out of ideas.
One thing I'm reluctant to try is to set my Windows account as administrator (because I don't want the permissions of my LR profile to be all messed up after -- mixing admin and limited rights together can make things ugly), but I guess it could tell a lot (e.g. that LR doesn't support correctly standard-user accounts, which would be a shame). I guess I'll have no other choice than try this tonight!

  • Sync never finishes

OK, so I am syncing my new iPhone 6, and doing a hard, connected sync. But the sync never finishes. When I left it last night it was on "Syncing Artwork" and I left the sync running overnight, and it was still not done this morning.
Based on the fact that I can't get the system to stop asking me for old passwords, the problem where it keeps saying on my home screen that it says it is "Restoring from iCould Backup" for the whole week and a half that I have owned this new phone, and now this, I am seriously thinking of switching platforms.
    HELP!

Never mind, figured it out. My "ipod photo cache" from my former library was included in my pictures file when I transferred my files to my new computer. I think this was confusing itunes. I deleted the old photo cache and synced again - this appears to have fixed the problem.

  • Is there a way to import pictures into LR in original numerical order? .

I am new to LR. Imported few hundreds of pictures taken by two different cameras and stored in numerical order in a folder. LR4 rearranged them in some mysterious order that makes no sense to me. I tried to re-sort them in numerical order, but there is no such option under the Sort menu. Only by categories for which I have no use for. Does anybody know how to restore the order of imported pictures in numerical order? Not manually, there are too many and there will be a lot more to come.

Thanks for advice. It sounds good as you wrote it, but it does not work. I mean the part to find out where the connection was lost and restore it. Items remain grayed out and that is it. How do you restore the connection? Is there some secret DOS command, specifically invented by Adobe so that it cannot be intuitively used from the drop down menu by anyone without completed advanced learning course? I tried to re-import instead, but all pictures in folder are greyed out and import button is greyed out, too.
After more and more pictures from different folders were losing connections as I tried different things to restore it, I reinstalled the LR hoping that everything, including references to imported pics will be gone. It did not happen. Other importing editors before uninstalling ask if you want to keep pics references in case you change your mind. Adobe does not offer such choice. I made another unwarranted assumption that everything will be wiped out. It was not. But after reading advices like yours, I tried uninstall from inside the LR. That worked. After that I would not try to import the set for editing again. LR acts quite aggressively when importing. It would import not only the folder which I ask, but everything it can find on any connected device. Awful.
Luckily, the copy of LR 4.4 on my laptop with Win8.1 still recognized the folder and I was able to finish off the editing job. Well, Adobe had yet another surprise for me. When I “exported” the entire collection to JPEG using, just in case, two different Export commands, because there is no one simple “batch convert to JPEG, TIFF or whatever” command available, I found out that there were no edits included with any converted pictures.  After two weeks and dozens of wasted hours I was exactly where I started. So I gave up and now I am half way through the folder again, for about the fifth time, but this time with the simple, straightforward DPP. I may not be getting results like with LR, especially with high/ low tones, but at least I know I am getting something rather than nothing.

  • Can't import pictures anymore

I just installed Win 7 pro x64 and upgraded to PSE 8 and after a month or so PSE 8 has stopped importing pictures.  I get some out of memory error, but I have tons of room on my hard drive.
    Help!!!!
    -=Mark=-

To import pictures, I use windows built-in program and when it finishes then I startup PSE 8 and it auto-finds new pictures and asks if I want to import them.
now, I get a online memory full and a popup to buy online space that I don't want and doesn't ask to import new pictures.
I found an option to undo the autosync/backup and now have it off. but it still comes up at startup of PSE 8.
maybe I just want the backup off and the sync still on?
Hope this was useful.  if not, let me know what else you may need.

  • Why does iPhoto create multiples when importing pictures?

    OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
    iPhoto version 9.6
I have a new MacBook and I am attempting to import pictures to iPhoto that were created by various devices - old digital cameras, scanners, iPhones.  The original images import without trouble, however iPhoto is creating an extra THREE pictures for each ONE that I import.  Please see the attached screenshot of my iPhoto after importing a few folders.  Take for example the Bowl for Kids folder - you will notice that the original folder has 20 pictures, and it is followed by an additional folder with 60 pictures.  The same situation is repeated for each folder.  The additional folders all share the same name - "d312a08daf7d..." and have EXACTLY three times as many pictures as the previous folder.  I have verified that the pictures contained within are indeed triplicates of the originals.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I did not import an existing iPhoto Library.
Starting with a completely empty Photo Library, I navigate to File > Import to Library and select a single folder (Bowl for Kids).  This folder has 20 photos in it, however iPhoto imports 80 (20 originals and 60 multiples, as evidenced by the screenshot).  I then repeated the process for the other two folders.
The photos shown in the screenshot were taken from various devices many years ago.  None of the above were taken on an iPhone.
The photos reside on my MacBook hard drive under Users > Worgowan > Documents > Pictures and Videos.  I chose to place them here to keep them separate from the native Pictures folder.
To answer an inevitable future question, here are some settings from my iPhoto Preferences.
    > iCloud > My Photo Stream (OFF)
    > iCloud > Photo Sharing (OFF)
    > Advanced > Importing: Copy Items to iPhoto Library (OFF)
    > Advanced > Edit Photos (In iPhoto)
    > Advanced > Use RAW when using external editor (OFF)
    > Advanced > Save edits as 16-bit TIFF files (OFF)
