Import pictures to iPhone with Camera Connection Kit?

At the moment it seems that this kit is only working with iPad.
It would be great to import pictures directly to iPhone from sd card with the Camera Connection Kit when travelling. Especially with the new iPhoto this makes sense. Is there a solution to get it working or is it planned to support it with a new iOS?

It still doesn't work with iPhone. I doubt it will either.

  • Importing many (400+) photos with camera connection kit fails

    Hi,
I'd like to hear if anyone came across this already:
When I try to import a lot of images ( most recent example is 445) photos from my Canon 5D through the camera connection kit + USB cable it fails.
The app starts up just fine and starts to read from the camera, icons appear (showing RAW+JPG yet no preview) but after a while the import window simply closes and no pictures have been imported.
Smaller numbers of pictures work just fine.
I had hoped for 4.2.1 to address this but no luck.
This limits the usability of the iPad as a viewing and backup device for my pictures quite a bit for me.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Andi

    Update:
It turned out that the cable was the problem. I had used a retractable cable which worked find for the preview but was obviously not up to the job when it came to the higher requirements of the full speed image download.
Using a standard USB cable works just fine.

  • Workflow of ipad 1 with camera connection kit

Hi, I am very new to ipad and wonder the following is possible:
I know ipad can view photos in memory cards with camera connection kit (CCK), but can I view the photo and delete it straight away from my ipad without copying all the photos into my ipad? I shoot raw, will this make a difference?
The answer will be very helpful as I am deciding whehter I should get a CCK.
    Thank You

if shooting raw, 16G iPad wouldonly store 5xx photos if shooting in raw and leaving at least half of thecapacity for apps & videos... which is useful but not quite helpful, that'swhy I want it to work like a bigger screen instead of the 2.5".
Besides, Idon't have that many backup at home and some are very obvious can be deletedthrough big screen (e.g. out of focus) but not the small one (the crappy screen in 40D will notlet you recognize any out of focus photo..)

  • IPad 4 with camera connection kit doesn't work with 64GB SDXC card on iOS 7.1.1

I have an iPad 4 and official Apple camera connection kit. Even though ios 7 was supposed to provide compatibility with SDXC cards there is obviously an issue. I'm using 64GB SDXC and 32GB SD cards - both Sandisck Extreme Pro with RAW Canon 5D Mark III files. The 32GB cards work fine - thumbnails appear quickly and pictures import fine. After inserting the 64GB cards thumbnail holders appear very slowly but the thumbnail images do not appear so I cannot import. I'm a pro photographer and I need this functionality so that I can show pictures to clients on location. Any ideas?

Are the photos on the 64GB card in RAW format? If so, this may apply.

  • Problem with camera connection kit and IOS 5

Since I upgraded my IPAD 2 to IOS 5 camera connection kit is no longer working properly:
    - when importing from a given CF card for the first time camera connection kit it is working with my camera (Canon EOS 7D)
    - however, as soon as i take additional photos on a non-empty CF card, things start getting weird when importing:
       - duplicates are no longer reliably recognized (some of the photos imported before are indicated as duplicates others not), hence an incremental upload of photos is no longer viable
         - some RAW photos are corrupted during import (it shows an "RAW" icon in the photo app, but no preview and the photo cannot be enlarged)
I never had such problems with IOS 4.x I'm really frustrated about IOS 5.0 since camera conenction kit and the ability to deal with RAW photos were my main reasons to buy an IPAD...
Anybody experiencing  similiar problems? Any viable workarounds?
    Thanks
    Claudio

Friend, you say "The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces)"  What if one has several hundred photos/files. Renameing them on my computer each 8 characters long adds an extension (1), (2), (3), and so on. For example, "JUNE2014(1).  The connection kit won't read the photos due to the extra (1).  How can I fix this without having to rename each of the hundreds of photos one by one?

  • IMovie for iPad 1 with Camera Connection kit?

For those of us who use our Camera Connection kit, will iMovie ever be supported on iPad 1?
I mean I get that iPad 1 has no video recording capabilities, but it does have the ability to import from SD cards or cameras. I'd love to be able to edit videos taken on my DSLR on my iPad 1.
-Heres to hoping Apple isn't a bunch of morons about this one...

Apple.com only lists iPhone 4, 4th Gen iPod Touch and iPad 2 as supported devices.

  • CF card to Ipad with camera connection kit?

I have a cannon 5d and 5d mark ii, and was really hoping to transfer images to my iPad from these cameras via the camera connection kit as they both use CF cards and not SD cards. But these cameras do not work with the USB camera connector. So I thought maybe I could use a card reader and the USB connector. But my card reader seems to use to much power. Does anyone know of a CF card reader that works with the connection kit or any other method that may help me??. Thanks

I have a Canon 20-D and I intend on getting an upgrade Canon (not the 50-D but the one step up from that, ... the one with video capability). Anyways, I bought the Apple camera connector kit and it is the BEST...! I, too, had an initial problem with not being able to use the connector kit until I remembered that I have this "Hama" USB2.0 Card Rreader )35 in 1 (this is what I am reading that is on top of this dark blue item that is the intermediary between the camera connector kit doohicki and my computer (or ipod, or iPad). It works like a charm.
The best thing of all is that this USB camera connector kit is NOT just for pics but can be used for lots of things that are USB connectable. In the newest issue of MacLife they discuss the multiple uses of this camera connector kit. One can even use it for a (USB) key board. One thing that i like about Apple's c.c kit is that the photos that you take can be put directly onto your ipod or ipad or iphone WITHOUT first downloading onto a computer ( & then transferring them).

  • Novice here: can video from thumb drive be imported to iPad 2 with the connect kit? If so how. I have a thumb drive with video on it but iMovie doesn't seem to detect it.

Can video from thumb drive be imported to iPad 2 iMovie with the connect kit?

emory53, I'm going to see if the Moderator of this Discussion group can place this question in the iMovie for iOS Discussion Group (yes there are two, count'em two iMovie Discussion Groups) hopefully that will happen shortly.

  • Problem with Camera Connection Kit

I am experiencing a problem with my camera connection kit on my ipad2.  I have tried to use it today, after upgrading ios on ipad, but it does just not recognise the device any more. I have tried rebooting ipad ( twice), tried to use different sd cards, still no use. I have searched the forum for answers but apart from rebooting, ( which i've done) cannot find a fix..I dont seem to be 'Robinson Crusoe' with this problem either, judging by the forums etc..
As I'm travelling overseas next month, i really will  need this feature on ipad, to download pics from camera. Can anyone help with this...

  • Not able to upload .jpgs on a SD card to Ipad 3 with camera connection kit. What am I doing wrong?

I downloaded .jpgs only from a video recorder on to a SD card.  Using the camera connection kit, the Ipad 3 is doesn't recognize any files in either Photos or iPhoto.  Currently do not have iTunes available to sync photos.  What do I need to do to get the iPad to recognize the jpegs on my SD card?

Solved my problem.  Created a folder named:  "DCIM"  on the SD card.  Moved all the .jpg files to this folder.  Reconnected to the ipad with the camera connection kit, upload to ipad started outomatically in Photos app.

  • Transferring photos with camera connection kit

I have been told by 4 different apple employees that the camera connection kit allows me to put photos from my computer on an sd card and put on my ipad2. When i took it all in (iBook 4, Nikon 3100, card reader,  2 cards & iPad), the tech tried it, then tried it on is own computer to be sure the card worked. When he couldn't get it to work he said it wasn't the connector kit, it just doesn't do that. Anyone know a out this?

The underscore shouldn't make any difference, but you could try removing it. In the past I've copied jpeg photos to a card from my computer and copied them via the CCK to my iPad.
You could try closing the Photos app completely and then re-trying : from the home screen (i.e. not with Photos 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Photo app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Another thing to try is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Otherwise there are iPad apps such as Simple Transfer (and its free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which allow you to transfer photos via your wifi network to/from the iPad. The photos will just go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album on the iPad, and until iOS 5 is release in the Autumn you won't be able to move them to other albums on the iPad.

  • I cannot download photos to mine IPad2 with Camera connection kit

I cannot download photos who are on a microSD card and who have been taken with mine android smartphone to the IPAD 2 with the Camera connection Kit. The IPad says there are no photo's on the card.

Are you using an adapter with the card ? Also what format are the photos on the card - the card needs to have a DCIM directory off its root, with the photos underneath it with filenames exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus their file extension i.e. the same format as if a digital camera had written them to the card
