If you mean that you want to share content of a second Portal onto yours then you can use the Federated Portal Concept.
Please go throug SDN and you will find numerous documents regarding that.

Import development settings from another computer

Hey,
At home I still have the trial version (I wait for 4.2 to see if it will be much faster before buying it) and today I do some photo development at work (we also have 4.1 version).
What I'd like to know is it it's possible to import the processings settings of each photos to my own catalog ????
Here is how I did my work:
At home my raws are on an external USB drive and I import my pictures from this disk: path is I:\Mes photos\<subject + date of the photoshoot>
My Lightroom catalog is in it's default path (user profile, my pictures).
At work, I put my photos on a temp director c:\MyRawPictures and import them into lightroom.
Now how can I export the development settings from the lightroom at work and import them in my home setup ?
I saw a menu "import from another catalog". can I use this one ? If yes, do I need to copy the "Lightroom catalog" folder ?

From the computer which has the images developed you invoke the command "export as catalog". You can optionally include both the previews and the images themselves ( called 'negatves'). Write this to a destination from where the other receiving comp can get it, e.g. a portable external drive or shared network.
From the receiving comp you invoke "import from another catalog" and you choose this exported folder.
You can limit this to small parts of your catalog, so no need to export and import a total catalog.

I have two servers with two deployment share.What should I do if I want to import ones settings to another share without write those same things such as "if statement words" again.

If you want to duplicate your deploymentshare, robocopy from share 1 to share 2
If you want to copy customsettings.ini and bootstrap.ini take the files from the "deploymentshare\control" folder from share 1 to share 2
If you want to duplicate / copy task sequences, take the TS.xml file from your "deploymentshare\control\<ts_id>" folder from share 1 to share 2 and copy that file in the desired ts_id folder.
Last option is to use linked deployment share's only for this replication. And create a selection profile by which your replicate from share 1 to share 2 and choose "merge" instead of "replace" option.

Failed to import publish settings file in Azure Toolkit for Eclipse with Java downloaded from Azure Management Portal

I tried to deploy the Hello World JSP application to Azure from Eclipse following the instructions at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/azure/hh690944%28VS.103%29.aspx. Got the following error when trying to import Publish Settings file downloaded from Azure
Management portal:
Importing MyMSDN.publishsettings file failed. Reason: failed to parse file. Ensure publish settings version is 1.0.
Could someone help me solve this problem? Thanks.

Hello and thank you for your response. This is a custom application through a remote portlet. It is a popup window where this error occurs. The weird thing is that it works on another server but not this particular one where I need to get it working on.
The Gateway URL Prefixes are all set to the application server. I'm sure that this is correct as it is working like this on our production environment. The difference is that the app was .NET 1.1 on Portal 6.1 and now it is .NET 2.0 on Portal 10.3.
Is it possible that something was missed during the Portal upgrade to 10.3? If yes, do you have any idea what it could be?

Use Custom Button to go to another portal form

Hi,
I created a custom button, and in the PL/SQL handle, I put in the code to redirect the url to another portal form/report. When I run the form and press the custom button, it does not go to the other form, it remains on the same form that I started with. Why?
I can put the same piece of code in advance PL/SQL => After displaying the page, draw a html button to do the same task. It will work for me when I press the button (i.e. go to another form). So, how come I cannot do the same thing using Custom button?

The reason you don't see the next form because our module subsystem has a set of rules when to redirect and when not. However, there is an "internal" function which you can call from your custom button code to get this effect:
PORTAL30.wwa_app_module.set_target('http://www.yahoo.com','CALL');
Please note this is an internal function and may change at any time.

How to impersonate another portal user?

Anyone pls,
how can i impersonate another portal user when i logged into the Portal with my userid. my requirement is i would have an iview with list of users(portal users). On click of the user i should open a new window which logs into the portal with that user credetials.
could anyone pls let me know how to do this?

   I try and get currentUser with the codes you provide in Web Dynpro Application.
   But when I deploy the Web Dynpro Application into a portal and running it in a portal, I will get null all the time.
Here is the codes in Component Controller:

Linking a tab to another portal page

Several users have wondered if it's possible to link to another portal page by clicking on the tab. So for example, when the user clicks the tab name they will be linked to a specified portal page and not have to click a link from under the tab? Is this possible?

yes it is, just add an html portlet under the tab with some javscript that redirects to the page you want (document.location.href=http://.....)

Issue in importing KM content in SAP Portal

Hi Experts,
My requirement is to provide the link in html file. This is welcome page of SAP ESS portal. HTML file has already created as URL iView & Welcome page is already available in QA system. So i have added <a>http:....</a> tag in same html file. Once i have finished then i have created new transport package and export the package successfully. The archive file has the ending with.zipwhen i download it, remove the .zipending manually then i stored as .kmc. KMC file contains HTML file & Image. I have imported .kmc file into QA portal but i can't see the additional link in welcome page in QAS portal.
Please provide the solution if anybody come across the same issue.

Restart the entire portal server. only this will help if there is really a cache problem. or you can dothe below mentioned step to get the file available in Pending export option.
1.Rename the extension from .zip to .kmc and save the file in your local machine.
2. Go to KM content, and navigate to the "Pending transport" folder.
3. then goto New -> file upload and selct the file from local machine.
Then check the pending import option. This will work

Generate or import xml form content into portal

Hi, we have a content repository type "fsdb" in wich we have created a xml form to publish content.
Now we need to develope a program or process that read information from a database and generate the xml content in the repository,
How can we generate the xml form content?
I have tried coping and existing element of the repository from the file system and changing the data but something more is needed, I think that is necesary to update the database.
Any suggestion is welcomed.

I differred my theme, cause I also had to use and transport the xml-forms into another portal. For this reason I have to use xml-forms. I've found out how to modify the the content/text of an subscription-mail.
Is there any way to define different layouts for subscription-mails? (Maybe depending on the folder.)
Is there any way to send an e-Mail to a specified address (including the content) when saving the xml-form?

Connecting a KM repository from another portal to KM via WebDAV - meda data

we are evaluating the option of connecting a KM repository from another portal to KM via WebDAV in our Federated Portal Scenario (in fact, we wish to get rid of the the remote roles as soon as possible).

Or for BI as described in Note 969040 - Federated portal network and Information Broadcasting .
One question : in case meta- data properties are set, where are these stored? In the consumer portal, or in the source system, the producer portal?
I.e when I set properties on documents of the WebDav repository, and I go to the source system, will the same meta- data properties be set there?

For testing I've integrated the remote KM repository as WebDAV and enabled the properties repository service :
- custom meta- data defined on the source (producer) KM system is not visible in the consumer portal if no value has been set on the source system :
Let's say you have a property 'country' on the source system, define a value for it + save, you can view the property in the consumer system.
- if you define both the same properties in consumer & producser system, you can view the properties in both system, and the value set in either one of the systems is displayed in both of them.
In short : the custom meta-data properties need to be defined on both systems

Importing User settings from one CC user into another

Hi There,
I want to import user settings from one account, then use those as a base to setup user setting for another. IE I want to use my settings from work [which I did not pay for] and use that as a starting point for my personal user account at my home office [which I did pay for].
I'm concerned about messing up my work settings + at home I'm on a laptop, not a 2 display tower.
Specificaly, its the custom keyboard, sequence and output, and loging colums/metadata display settings that I'd love not to have to setup from scratch, again.
Also, I have co workers who prefer my settings and I'd like to share these with them- but don't want them to be signed in as me, and messing me up accidentaly.

OK so this does not work. I'm running CC, on OSX 10.8.3.
For those that don't know, in order to reveal the library folder in OSX 10.7+, you need to either enter this into terminal:
Permanent Reveal:
chflags nohidden ~/Library/
Permanent Hide:
chflags hidden ~/Library
Or hold down option key + finder/go, for temporary reveal.
So after doing this, and coying over the directories Jax mentioned [+ '7.0' folders, as I'm in CC], I'm still not getting the keyboard mappings, just the defaults.
I've just synced with my work account, and brought up another issue: My scratch disks and media paths are all different on my home office, and I don't want to have to reset those everytime I switch from one location to another.
If I could get what Jax sudgested to work, that would be an exelent work arround for this situation. Otherwise its a feature request for managing syncing between multiple accounts...

Import Publish Settings Failing

I'm running into an error that seems to be unique, and undocumented. I'm importing the publish settings file for Azure, in order to start publishing a project that my team is migrating from another Azure subscription.
When I go to the Publish Web wizard, and hit import publish settings, and then add the publish settings file that I got from here:

I keep getting the following error:
Microsoft Visual Studio
Invalid website publish settings file to import publish profile.
OK
Does anyone know what this error means? Moreover, does anyone know how I get around it?

The error information "Invalid website publish settings file to import publish profile" means there was some issue with the publish setting file, from my experience, if you want to publish the application to azure website, I suggest you download
the publish setting from azure manage portal, such as the following screenshot.
