Import powerpoint 2007 animation to Captivate 3

I've created a single-slide presentation in powerpoint 2007
that has an animated smart art that flys on to the screen. I saved
my powerpoint 2007 file as a ppt not pptx. I imported the file to
Captivate 3 as animation. but when I preview the project, the
animation just shows up as a non-animated object. It doesn't have
any of the animated qualities of the original powerpoint.
See this link to see what I'm talking about:
http://screencast.com/t/zgTOYx35Bd

I would agree that recording the animation as it plays in PPT
could help. That is how I have done several of my animations rather
than import them.
What I have found in the process is make sure you set the
Captivate screen to only cover the area of powerpoint where the
animation takes place. That is, you can have powerpoint in a slide
view and click the play test button to record but only record the
slide area.
Another thing you may want to do is be sure the animation in
powerpoint has a delay to begin with. This gives you time to first
click record (I am using full motion recording here) and let the
captivate red box go a way and then click the Play button in
powerpoint.
This sounds kind of crazy as I type it here but it works.
Trying to record a complete powerpoint slide show was more
problimatic to me than doing it the way I describe. For one thing,
the resulting animation is very large. I prefer the smaller slide
size animation/recording.
I hope this help. Still not sure what else to to tell

  • Import PowerPoint with animations into Captivate 4 ?

Can anyone let me know if it is possible to import a PowerPoint presentation into Captivate 4 AND keep all the PowerPoint animations exactly as created in the original PowerPoint ?
If this is not possible, what are the options ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Noel

    Hi Noel
I think the PowerPoint to Captivate conversion is a mixed bag. Mostly, I believe folks will be disappointed with the process.
Certain animations seem to survive the conversion and others seem to fail. But the bottom line here is that we are taking a file created by a Microsoft application, sucking it into an Adobe application and expecting the result to work without a hitch. And I'm not sure how often we will see this work flawlessly. I mean, it's not unlike removing an engine from a Fiat and expecting it to seamlessly bolt up and work in a Volvo. There will be stumbling blocks.
To be honest, I'm amazed it works as well as it does.
The only way I'm aware of to create a Captivate that behaves exactly as the PowerPoint behaves is to present the PowerPoint show in a window. Then use Captivate to surround the window and record it using FMR as the PowerPoint does its thing. Any other way is likely going to result in having to fudge things here and there and tweak them to make them work as desired. Possibly even re-creating things here and there in Captivate.

  • Powerpoint 2007 Animations

I want to set up slides with several bullet points. I want each bullet to appear on click and then remain on the slide, but at 5% transparancy when I click on the next one - how do I do it?

    Hi,
Today I have found the 7.0.5 Update, build 7588, for Presenter 7, so I started to think that my long issue concerning the animations problem could be over with this update ... but it did not!  :-(
After the update installation, the same presentation gives me the same wrong behavior.
It seams that the animations triggered by activators used on PowerPoint 2007 presentations continue without any support.
    Is that right ?

  • When importing a flash animation into captivate flash will not call external files

Is there a way to import flash into captivate and it still be able to call external files (ie. sound, video xml)? When I import flash into captivate it will not call any external file.

    Hi all
Wow, I was so hoping fellow Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst would pop in on this thread.
Why? Well, Paul sent me a way cool gizmo a while back that hacked the Info button. It used an external file for some of the information! So somehow Paul managed to sort what it took to insert a Flash object into Captivate and have that object extract data from an externally located file.

  • PowerPoint 2007 import problems

Can anyone tell me what to look out for when importing powerpoint as slides?
Captivate acts like it is importing the slides then nothing shows up in the libary or the filmstrip on the left side of the screen.
Please help. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Dana,
The issue is not because of the grouped objects. In the shared file the issue was happening because of a small scale image present on the PPT file. Removing the image imports the ppt file correctly. To resolve the issue,
    1.       Open the PPTX file.
    2.       Go to the seventh slide. Select the Group 3(With the header ‘Games and rich media applications). Ungroup it.
    3.       There are two small scale images (Flipped and shrunken) present behind the images ‘Sony’ and ‘Play stations’. Select and delete it.
    4.       Group back the rest all images, try to Import it in captivate.
Captivate Imports the pptx file correctly.
Hope this information helps to resolve the issue.
    Thanks,

  • Import Powepoint 2007 files

Is there a way to import Powerpoint 2007 presentations in Keynote? This won't work, even if I save them als PP 2003/97
    Thanks for the help!
    Wim

Wow, that's strange that they're saved in a format that won't open in Keynote even if saved as older files. If you create a one slide presentation with no text or artwork, can you open that?

  • Importing and editing PowerPoint (animations) in Captivate 5

    <banging head on desk> <and cursing>
I started my Captivate by importing a PowerPoint slide show. I've added audio and am doing most of the animation in PowerPoint since it's lots of bullets and some charts and things. I thought it'd be easier to manage this way and wanted to see how it all works since I'm new to version 5 of Captivate.
So I edit the PowerPoint, go back to Captivate, update the presentation and it seems to be working okay. Then I thought I'd try something different ... what if I edit just the slide so I don't have to wait for the entire thing to update?
    IT WRECKED MY ANIMATION. (waaa!)
I spent a lot of time getting the animation perfect and the edit I made is the only thing now animated, the rest shows up as a group.
    Did I do something wrong?
Is there a preferred way to work with Captivate and PPT together? Is it a crazy idea I have that I'm wanting to control the animation in PowerPoint?
Captivate doesn't have the control of working with paragraph level animation, does it?
    Thanks,
    Jo

    Hi Jo,
Do I understand it all right: your issue was originated when you tried to edit one slide with the roundtripping from Captivate to Powerpoint? What is indicated in the Library besides the Presentation? Which version of PPT are you using?
I prefer myself to have everything in Captivate, because imported PPT-animations are just FMR and editing in CP is cumbersome.  But the roundtripping is there to be used of course and should work. I hope that your CP-version is up to date?
A bulleted animated list could also be spread on different slides if you do not want the workaround with different Text Captions.

  • Imported Powerpoint not playing all animation

I've been testing a couple of Power Point files imported into Cp6. There is an  animated chart that just will not play the way it does in PPT.  Also cannot play back an embedded YouTube video, and in some cases the background audio doesn't play.  Aside from the animation issue, I could add some of the other elements from within Cp6, but my understanding was a lot of this should survive with the import.
I'm using Captivate 6 and Powerpoint 2010 in Windows.

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Any possiblity of sharing that PPT (Animation Chart and Embedded Youtube) on [email protected]
    Thanks,

  • Captivate 8 not importing PowerPoint slides in correct order

I am using Captivate 8, and PowerPoint 2007.
I have a PPT  presentation with 24 slides.  The original PPT presentation had only 14 slides, and I imported that into C8 with no problems - even when I made updates to those slides in PPT, the update in C8 went smoothly.
I increased the slide count in the PPT file, saved it, and in C8 I updated the file in the Library.  Now the slides are out of order!  And the slide count in C8 is completely off - for example, it says on one slide, "8 slide 5."  It isn't slide 8 in PPT, and it isn't slide 5 in PPT.  It's slide 15 in PPT.  But in C8, it's slide 8.  Other slides are also out of order - all of the additional slides that I made.  I've tried closing and restarting both programs with no success.
I could simply swap out the slides, which I started doing and, because it's only 24 slides with roughly 10 slides out of order, it won't be too big a deal. But when I start transfering presentations with more slides, or with slide additions in the future, this WILL be a big deal and will really screw the efficiency factor of my projects.
I already know that I can simply use C8 to capture the PPT presentations rather than transfer, and I already know that C8 is not the ideal program for transferring PPT slides.  My client wants quizzes and other media incorporated into the projects, so I need to use C8, and I cannot simply make a capture of the PPT presentations because that is not what the client wants.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you solve it?  Or is this simply a bug in C8?
    Thanks!

    Hi there
An observation as well as a question here.
Why not simply create a totally new project any time you add slides to the PPT?
When you update, you are essentially spending as much time as it takes to import fresh again. So I might think the better approach would be to simply trash or abandon the old project, then import the PPT again to create a totally fresh project. And you also wouldn't have the headache of the mismatched slides.
    Food for thought.
    Cheers... Rick

  • I am having trouble importing powerpoint to captivate

I am having trouble importing powerpoint to captivate.
I am using captivate 6 and powerpoint version2013.
I have saved my file three times with the right sequence, but when it converts to captivate ischanges the sequence of the slides.  Not all slides have animation.

    Hi there,
Can you please tell are you importing the .ppt or .pptx?
Captivate 6 is not tested with PowerPoint 2013, please check the help file link: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/microsoft-powerpoint.html
If the sequencing of slides is not O.K., then are you able to manually change the sequence in captivate? (as a workaround).
    Thanks.

Polachan, just open the Power Point presentation in your copy
of "MS Powerpoint 2007" and use the "Save As" function to save a
    copy in "Powerpoint 1997-2003" format.
    Then, bring
that copy into Captivate 3, and you should be okay. Okay?

  • Animations doesn't work when publishing from PPTX (Powerpoint 2007)

I have Presenter 7.0.2 (build 7464), running over PowerPoint

    controllable after publishded.
What I need is the same behave of published flash contents

Does the Adobe support (Platinum plans), or any of you that
hoppefully had already fix an way to avoid this, can help on this ?

  • Running Captivate 8 on a Macbook and I am unable to import Powerpoint 2011 (which is up to date) files or slides.  I get an error saying that either the file is damaged or I am using an older version of PP....which is not the case.

Running Captivate 8 on a Macbook and I am unable to import Powerpoint 2011 (which is up to date) files or slides.  I get an error saying that either the file is damaged or I am using an older version of PP....which is not the case.  I tried creating a very simple PP file with just a few words on one slide...ran a compatibility check and all was good.  Still could not import that simple slide into Captivate.

OK...found out it did not like me saving as a *.pptx.  When I save it as a *.ppt file it imported in correctly.  Is this what I will need to do moving forward?  I am not sure if I am losing any functionality in the process...

  • Importing Flash Animation into Captivate

I am trying to Import an animation from flash 8 into
Captivate. It allows me to do this however the frame rate of the
animation which was created in flash when imported to Captivate
changes. Does anyone know how change the frame rate of the
    animation in captivate.

Hi laxmi1 and welcome to the community
Hopefully when you created your Flash animation, you
    published as Flash 6 output.
I believe the standard frame rate for Flash is 12. Captivate
is 30. So you can either bump the Flash rate up to 30 and
re-publish, or in Captivate, you can adjust the frame rate to match
Flash and set it for 12. To do this, click Movie >
Preferences... > Preferences tab. From there, it should be quire
    obvious what to do.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Imported PowerPoint Slide doesn't look right

I read Captivate 3.0 help and learned it can't
handle PowerPoint 2007 files, so I saved my PowerPoint slideshow to
1997-2003 compatibility mode. One of the slides has tables with
headings, and Captivate 3.0 does strange things when I import
it--like change the font sizes of the headings and insert bullets
into every box in the table. The result is unreadable and
unfixable. This table took me a long time to make. Is there anyway
possible for Captivate 3.0 to import it so that it looks the same
way it does in PowerPoint? I know that to do something with themes
in PowerPoint creates problems in Captivate, so you should know
that I didn't use themes in creating this slideshow. Any help you
can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Fikenhild,
This might just be a limitation with the way the PPT
importing engine currently works. I would recommend that you submit
this as a bug using the
    Adobe
    Captivate Feature Request/Bug Report Form
In order to capture the screen I would suggest that you
record this using Adobe Captivate - using the steps I have outlined
    below:
    1. Open your MS PowerPoint file (I only have PowerPoint 2003)
    2. Chose Slide Show > Set up Slide Show...
    3. Choose the Show type Browsed by an individual window
    (disable the show scrollbar)
    4. Click OK.
    5. View the Show
    6. In Adobe Captivate choose Record or create a new project
    7. Select Custom size.
    8. Specify your project size
    9. Position your PowerPoint Show window within the recording
    area
    10. Capture your screens.
    HTH
