Import PowerPoint Slides w/in Small Region of Slide
Hi-
Is there a way to import PowerPoint slide to only display in a portion of the screen? I'd like to have the PowerPoint slides on about 1/3 of the page, and maintain the content from previous pages to remain in the other 2/3 of the page. Is this possible? If so, how?
Thanks in advance.
Thomas
Hi there
I was thinking that you might accomplish it by starting off with the PowerPoint import to create the project at the smaller size. Then use the ability to resize the project and make it larger, leaving the smaller area in place and surrounding it with new blank area.
Just thinking out loud... Rick

I have iMovie 2011 and I imported PowerPoint slides with a soundtrack. Now I want to delete a small highlighted clip and it won't let me no matter what I do! Rosemary
First off....do NOT install MacKeeper! It creates more problems than it prevents, and is a royal pain to get rid of once you realize this.
What I would do, since it sounds like you don't want to reorganize your email filing by the use of Smart Mailboxes, is to simply use the search box at the top of the Mail window to find only the emails you want to delete....then select them all and delete them. For example, if you wanted to delete all of the emails from [email protected], you would type that into your search box, which will filter your inbox to only show you emails from [email protected] Then Select All, and delete them. You haven't deleted any others....only those from that person.
Then clear the search box to see the rest of your emails again.
Repeat this process to delete emails from other senders you no longer need.
(Once you've selected them all, by the way, you can control-click one if you need to save it). -
Importing PowerPoint slides in Director
Is there a way to import PowerPoint slides in Director and getting all the animation to work? Thanks for your help.
Hi Ibrahim,
This question has been asked before. Check this thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/85607#85607
My suggestion would be to look for a Powerpoint to Flash (PPT to SWF) converter. There are a number of these available. Once you have the SWF, you can bring it into Director.

Text Caption Boxes on imported PowerPoint slides
I have imported a number of PowerPoint slides (with an image)
into a Captivate movie. Text is needed on these slides so
originally I created the text on the PPT slides, but when imported
into Captivate the text formatting and spacing was all messed up.
So, I had to reimport those PPT slides with no text. After
reimporting, I used Text Caption Boxes to enter the text onto those
PPT slides. When published, those text boxes display small white
boxes (white is the text color) everywhere I used the space bar in
the text boxes (after a bullet, etc.) The white boxes do not show
when previewing or editing in Captivate.
Is there a way to get rid of those boxes or does anyone know
of any other solution?
Thanks in advance! You're welcome. And speaking of "thanks", I have copied the
"fix" for the Transparent Caption Style bug from the guy who has
been a great friend and the best source of real intelligence in the
Captivate "expert" community, Paul Dewhurst. Paul deserves the real
"Thanks" for discovering the cure for this irritation ... his
solution is as follows - and I quote:
quote:
One of the Problems Captivate used to have was that if you used
transparent captions then the text in the published movie would
look blurred, In captivate 2 you can fix this problem and have nice
crisp text all you need to do is select
#C0C0C0 as the highlight colour and highlight part of the
text (you can select just one character) this makes the text in the
published movie display nice and crisp and the highlight is
transparent.
I hope this helps - and by the way, you can find other
great tips from Paul on his website at

Importing Powerpoint Slides to a trial version of Captivate 5.5:
All logo's, images (Jpg) and PowerPoint slide background disappear when importing to a trail version of Captivate 5.5. I tried PPT 2003, 2007, as well as 2010 with no success. Any help will be appreciated. I am new to Captivate - would like to buy, but after many hours of trial and error, I'm not impressed.
Moving this discussion to the Adobe Captivate forum.
Gchoice did you purchase Captivate 5.5 directly from Adobe? If so and you choose the option to download at the time of purchase then the download will be available under your account at http://www.adobe.com/. -
Importing PowerPoint slides failure
I have been using Captivate v1 for a couple of years without
problems. Recently I installed Norton 360 and it was a 360 degrees
turn for the worse, hijacking computer's ram etc, so I had to
uninstall it. I also run a utility that ereases all traces of
&^%$£ Norton. Well, after that I can't import my
PowerPoint slides into Captivate, the window is killed as soon as
it appears! Anyone has a clue what could it be? I've uninstalled
Captive and reinstalled it again, including the upgrade, but the
problem persists.
Thank you.Hi
If you get an answer to this please let me know because I've
got the same problem. I've imported PowerPoint that contains
hyperlinks that in conjunction with questions that if correct go to
the next slide but if wrong it reviews the relevant slide again
(played earlier in the presentation) and then automatically
hyperlinks back to start playing the multiple choice questions
again - can this be done in Captivate whilst still generating
accurate scores? -
How to import powerpoint slides as photos
Hi there
Someone has sent me a powerpoint presentation from a windows PC with lots of photos as slides, which I'm trying to then use in an iMovie film- they're opening in Keynote fine. However I need them to be treated as normal photo files in order to import and use them in iMovie, I'm presuming the best way to do this is get them out of Keynote and into Aperture.
Is there a way that I can do this (i.e. extract photos off the slides and resave as photo files), or will I have to ask the person to re-burn all the photos separately?
Thanks for your helpTwo things, if keynote "sees" all the elements on the page, you might be able to just select the images and drag them to Aperture.
You could print as a PDF and import it into Aperture.
But if the file was compressed, the images might be too low of resolution to be useful, you may have to get the images separately, anyway. -
Importing Powerpoint slides question
I'm working on one of my first paying gigs as an editor. It's a weekend seminar about Accupuncture. Much of what was presented during the seminar accompanied a Powerpoint presentation.
Now that I'm editing it down I'd like to take individual slides from the PP presentation and include them in the video. However, I am unsuccessful in importing the files for use.
Is it possible to use PP slides in FCP?
thanks!
G4 Dual 1.25 Mac OS X (10.2.x)Open the PPT file in Powerpoint. Go to File->Save As and choose an image type from the 'Save As Type' menu ... I prefer TIF but you can choose JPG or PNG as well. Make sure you choose to save "Every Slide", not just the current one. Also make sure you create a folder to save them in so they'll all be grouped together.
In FCP, set the still frame duration you want the slides to have in FCP's preference. Next, go to File->Import->Folder and navigate to the folder of slides.

Imported PowerPoint Slide doesn't look right
I read Captivate 3.0 help and learned it can't
handle PowerPoint 2007 files, so I saved my PowerPoint slideshow to
1997-2003 compatibility mode. One of the slides has tables with
headings, and Captivate 3.0 does strange things when I import
it--like change the font sizes of the headings and insert bullets
into every box in the table. The result is unreadable and
unfixable. This table took me a long time to make. Is there anyway
possible for Captivate 3.0 to import it so that it looks the same
way it does in PowerPoint? I know that to do something with themes
in PowerPoint creates problems in Captivate, so you should know
that I didn't use themes in creating this slideshow. Any help you
can provide will be greatly appreciated.Hello Fikenhild,
This might just be a limitation with the way the PPT
importing engine currently works. I would recommend that you submit
this as a bug using the
Adobe
Captivate Feature Request/Bug Report Form
In order to capture the screen I would suggest that you
record this using Adobe Captivate - using the steps I have outlined
below:
1. Open your MS PowerPoint file (I only have PowerPoint 2003)
2. Chose Slide Show > Set up Slide Show...
3. Choose the Show type Browsed by an individual window
(disable the show scrollbar)
4. Click OK.
5. View the Show
6. In Adobe Captivate choose Record or create a new project
7. Select Custom size.
8. Specify your project size
9. Position your PowerPoint Show window within the recording
area
10. Capture your screens.

Captivate 8 not importing PowerPoint slides in correct order
I am using Captivate 8, and PowerPoint 2007.
I have a PPT presentation with 24 slides. The original PPT presentation had only 14 slides, and I imported that into C8 with no problems - even when I made updates to those slides in PPT, the update in C8 went smoothly.
I increased the slide count in the PPT file, saved it, and in C8 I updated the file in the Library. Now the slides are out of order! And the slide count in C8 is completely off - for example, it says on one slide, "8 slide 5." It isn't slide 8 in PPT, and it isn't slide 5 in PPT. It's slide 15 in PPT. But in C8, it's slide 8. Other slides are also out of order - all of the additional slides that I made. I've tried closing and restarting both programs with no success.
I could simply swap out the slides, which I started doing and, because it's only 24 slides with roughly 10 slides out of order, it won't be too big a deal. But when I start transfering presentations with more slides, or with slide additions in the future, this WILL be a big deal and will really screw the efficiency factor of my projects.
I already know that I can simply use C8 to capture the PPT presentations rather than transfer, and I already know that C8 is not the ideal program for transferring PPT slides. My client wants quizzes and other media incorporated into the projects, so I need to use C8, and I cannot simply make a capture of the PPT presentations because that is not what the client wants.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and how did you solve it? Or is this simply a bug in C8?
Thanks!Hi there
An observation as well as a question here.
Why not simply create a totally new project any time you add slides to the PPT?
When you update, you are essentially spending as much time as it takes to import fresh again. So I might think the better approach would be to simply trash or abandon the old project, then import the PPT again to create a totally fresh project. And you also wouldn't have the headache of the mismatched slides.
Food for thought.

Imported PowerPoint slides, added highlights, but not showing in publishing
Hi...I'm a little confused. I imported a 15 slide powerpoint
file into Captivate and added audio, a few highlights and several animated buttons. I published 1 version and the animation showed up, but when I recreated another project, I get none of the animation showing up in the preview. Any suggestions?Hi,
Can you elaborate more about how did you re-create the project?
I wanted to know whether you created a similar project from the beginning (New Blank Project) or copy/pasted the slides from one project to the other.
It would be helpful, if you explain the steps you followed while re-creating the project.
Thanks,
Vikranth. -
PE 4 what is the best workflow to import powerpoint slides to a project
when i created jpg's to do this the quality was poor. suggestions?
This comes up fairly often.
But the fact is that there's just no way to turn PowerPoint into graphics that will import into Premiere Elements in any readable quality. To get readable text, you really need to create the text in Premiere Elements.
On the other hand, someone at Premiere Elements support site http://Muvipix.com found this solution that may help.

Cannot Import PowerPoint into Responsive Design Template
Hi,
I have a PowerPoint which needs to be converted to a Responsive Design Project. I notice that when I create a new Responsive design project, the Import PowerPoint is greyed out.
Is this normal?
Also if I create a basic Captivate Project, is it possible to convert it to a responsive project if a client decides they require this, without a complete rebuild?
thanksIt is not possible to import Powerpoint slides in a responsive project at all, seems logical to me but will not bother you with an explanation. The technique, programming is so different. The provided themes are responsive, PPT is not.
Same negative answer for your second question, for the same reason. You can use the assets from PPT, but will have to create your own responsive project.

Bug when importing Ppt slides with animation: color changes to foam green
Hi everyone,
I am using Captivate 7 and I am experiencing what seems like a bug when I try to import Powerpoint slides that have animation effects and then publish the video as HTML5.
I am using Ppt 2007 and importing the slides as .pptx files using the Import> Ppt slides command in Captivate.
An example of Ppt slide that I need to import is this: in the slide, there are two groups, created by grouping together several objects (lines, shapes etc). One group has a fade effect applied on it, while the other group has a diagonal down right movement applied to it.
When I import the slide in Captivate, the following happens:
If I do not select the High fidelity check box, then the Ppt slide is imported as static, and no effect is shown in the HTML5 video, although the effect is shown in the Captivate preview.
If I select the High fidelity check box, then the Ppt slide is imported with the effect, and with the original Ppt colors, but as soon as I press F3 to play the slide, or F4 to play the whole project, or I publish the video in HTML5 output, all the original colors change to foam green for the fill in and black for the shape outlines. Furthermore, the text boxes are displayed with their box frame displayed:
ORIGINAL PPT IMAGE:
RESULT AFTER CAPTIVATE IMPORT:
I have read in the forum several posts on this issue, eg colors being changed to foam green even with static Ppt slides, and I tried to apply the suggestions, but none seems to work.
Any help will be appreciated.Hi there
As Hyperlinks don't survive the import process, perhaps try removing the links and just applying the desired color in PPT before importing into Captivate?
Cheers... Rick

Cannot powerpoint slide under extension .pptx
Hai,
Please how I can solve the following problem
1. I cannot insert powerpoint slides into created in n2007
version in extension .pptx. Becuase the .pptx powerpoint control is
not coming in dialogue box. The captivate is only showing the .ppt
extension. So I have to change the 2007 format into 97-2003 format
to copy into captivate 3.
2. I cannot run the shockwave flash output file in real
player or in media player after publishing. But I can run .html
output format in internet explorer only. After publishing which
extension I can run through adobe flash player. Please let me know
With thanks
PolHi Pol
Captivate 3 does not support the PPTX format. If you scan the
help file that ships with it, you will find the following verbiage:
Note: Adobe Captivate does not support new file formats in
Office 12 like pptx, docx. To import PowerPoint slides created
using office 12, save the presentation in an earlier version of
PowerPoint before importing it.
I believe another community expert offered you identical
advice about this in a different thread.
I don't believe Real or Media player understand how to deal
with Flash output. Only the Flash player does. The Flash player
exists as either an add on (for Firefox and other browsers) or an
ActiveX control for IE.
