Import Premiere Pro CS5.5 Project into FCPX?

It's hard to hunt down ideas online, but if the new FCP update is good there may soon be a lot of people trying.
The only way I could figure out to do it was to export FCP XML from PPCS5.5, import that into FCP7, then use 7toX to get it from FCP7 to FCPX.  I just can't get it to work the way it's supposed to.
My PPCS5.5 project is a monster, which probably doesn't help.  PP lets me export it just fine, but when I try to import what it exports into FCP7, I get a bunch of "'looking for movie in file' X" messages, then FCP7 crashes.  If I click to search for a file it says it wants, that file is always for some reason grayed out and unselectable, arg.
Anyone have any ideas that maybe eliminate the FCP7 middleman?
Thanks...

you will need a middle man. At least until PPRO is capable of exporting to FCPx XML.
My middleman is called Resolve Light from BlackMagicDesign. It is FREE to download and iin my experience it converts beautifully from PPRO XML to FCPX XML.
There you will import the PPRO XML and export it as FCPX XML.

  • Errors in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 project!

Hello, when I open up my Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 project, I see that my project has errors in it because of the little red X in the bottom right hand corner.
So i click on it and it pops up with a window that has a list of errors in it. Unfortunately, I dont know what they mean.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Exporting AE animated signature to Premiere Pro CS5 project

Hi everyone, I created a wonderful animated signature in After Effects CS5 and within Premiere Pro CS5 I imported the AE composition and added it to my initial video, but unfortunately while the animation works fine, the signature has a white rectangular back ground which I failed to make it transparent to show the animated signature only over the video. I would appreciate very much helping me to do that task. Thank you in advance. You are great.

Thank you Rick for your kind prompt response, I appreciate your time. I usually solve all the technical problems I face through my classroom in a book series, or by watching experts videos
but this one I couldn't figure out correctly anywhere, sorry about that. The steps I followed are as follows:
    1) I scanned a handwritten signature and I saved as a TIF image
    2) I imported the above mentioned image in Adobe After Effects
    3) I used the pen tool to mask the signature
    4) I created a white solid composition
    5) I copied the masks to the White solid composition.
    6) I copied the white solid masks to a new video composition with same size of my Premiere pro project 1920x1080 and I started to amend the brush size, hardness...etc under stroke
    7) I made the end of the stroke feature to be 0% at the start
    8) After 3 sec. I made the end comes back to 100%
    9) I checked the animation of the signature and it was great, I made the length of the composition becomes 20 sec in length to match the handwriting natural speed
    10) I resized the composition to show a size of my signature which does not exceed a 10% of the quarter of the right corner of my video I opened the Premiere Pro and imported the compostion
    11) The composition showed an animated signature in Premiere Pro but with a white background which I failed to make it transparent.
    Thank you once more.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Project & Sequence Settings

I will be shooting with a Sony NEX-VG10 set at a Record Mode of FH 17M (which I have no clue what it is)
The camera records 1920 x 1080 Full HD videos (I don't know if its 1920x1080i or p)  (The user guide that came with the camara doesn't explain much of anything)
The memory card that I will use to record the clips is a 32GB SDHC
I want to know the settings that I should choose to edit the clips in Premiere Pro CS5.
    1)  Project Settings asks me to select between DV and HDV.  Is HDV the right one?
    2)  Sequence Settings is getting me more confused than I am already:
In previous projects (with a different camera) I have chosen DV NTSC as I had set the Project as DV but also because of the NTSC
In the Sequence Settings if I go along with HDV it doesn't give me the NTSC option but it lists several 1080i and 1080p options.
         Which one should I choose?
Finally, when I am all done I will burn an HD DVD with Encore.
I am assuming that using the same edited video I could also burn an SD DVD: is that possible?
The whole project will probably turn a 45 min. video.
    Thanks for your help.

Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly.
When creating a new project I have to specify location, name, etc... PLUS I also have to indicate the capture format
No, you don't.  You can hit cancel.  If you've shot on media cards, you have no need to Capture.
Secondly, comes the Sequence Settings where there are a bunch of available presets listed such AVCHD, DV-24P, DV-NTSC, DV-PAL and so on... also HDV.... and within each one there are further options for example under HDV:  1080i 25, 1080i 30, 1080p etc....
Which one is the one I should choose?
That's already been explained in this thread.  And it's also covered thoroughly in the Pr Help documentation.
If understand correctly you are suggesting that I forget this screen and just add my clips and create New Sequence from Clip.  This you say will automatically attach to it the proper preset.  Pardon my ignorance but I can't figure out how it will work.  Will I have a new sequence for each clip?
Right.  Have you even tried it yet?  You can select a bunch of clips, and drag them to the New Sequence icon also.  They'll all be added to a new Sequence based on the source clip's settings.
Finally, when I mentioned I will burn an HD DVD I meant: a High Definition  DVD and also was considering burning a Standard Definition  DVD and was asking if it would be possible.
You're using incorrect terminology.  There is no HD DVD.  There is DVD, and there is Blu-Ray.  The different formats have different names.

  • Problem with Premiere Pro CS5 project files bloating

Has anyone had the same problem that we're experiencing? - we have Production Premium CS5 installed on a machine with Win 7 Pro x64. We have three separate edits all of which are experiencing bloating of the .prproj project file. Often this bloating seems to occur when no importing of assets has occured, just changes in the edits. A project which started at 5mb has bloated to 1.5GB and we can no longer save it. Another project has bloated to 200mb and continues to grow in size. We have not brought in any weird assets, although we are using hi-def footage.
We upgrade from CS3 and never had this problem using Premiere CS3.
We can't fix the problem by 'remove unused footage' as this doesn't reduce the project size, although it does remove the unused footage.
We can't fix it by importing the project into a new clean project as the problem and huge file size just comes with
We can't fix it by using the project manager to collect up the project as it requires to save before collecting and the problem files can't be saved.
A couple of points to note - these projects were originally on Premiere CS3 and were upgraded to CS5. The footage is either Sony EX3 or Canon 5D - both HD.
The machine it's running on has 8gb of RAM.
Currently the projects I'm working on are gradually grinding to a hold with no way to make the files usable again.
Any suggestions are greatfully recieved as I'm at a loss. I've reported this to Adobe, and will report back if I get anything useful.
    thanks.

    TClark,
I'm shocked that you are having the same problem on a mac. This seems to suggest a problem that could be really widespread. You've also beaten my 1.5GB file bloat size.
What the hell is going on with Premiere Pro? I'm surprised to have heard nothing from Adobe either via my support request or on this forum, save for Jeremys useful work around, considering how serious an issue this is.
I've had to break all the projects I'm working on which have multiple timelines in each project into a new seperate project per timeline in order to reduce the file bloat problem and reduce the risk of me loosing all my work in one go on a bloated file.
Adobe - we could do with some help here. It's frustrating to have spent so much money on licences for this software only to have virtually non-existant help when a serious flaw in the software manifests itself.
    Nat
Yeah...it's really a bummer that no one is acknowledging it.  It's pretty serious!
I hope Dennis jumps in soon!

  • Import a Premiere Pro CS5 project?

    Hello,
How do I import a pre project to work on the audio element of it? If I try import or open the premiere project is greyed out. If I try it in Adobe dynamic link it fails on me?!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Bradley

    HI Bradley
Right click on the audio track & choose edit with adobe Soundbooth render & replace...be careful with what you do though as I am unsure if that means that you are editing the source track...
I also did not have any joy with just using the pre-built remove noise button..it made my audio which is mainly talking sound a little tinny, when it was actually recorded on a good mic.
All a learnig curve I guess...

  • Premiere Pro CS5 project sudenly extremely slow on Macbook Pro

    Hello,
I've been using Adobe CS5 for a little over two years. I have a 2012 Macbook Pro.
I am working on a freelance project for a big client. In the last 48 hours or so the processing speed of the project has been getting slower and slower. The rest of my computer's processing is fine, it is only when I try to do anything in Premiere in this one specific project. It is now to the point where I can't really do anything in the project.... If I try to make an edit (for example, trimming a clip, adding a cross dissolve, changing the scale of a clip, etc.), what should take less than 1 second to process can take anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes. This is obviously highly abnormal.
I can't figure out why it is doing this. I have some pretty big files in the project, but I doubt it making it slow down this much.
    Help anyone??

    2.2GHz Intel Core i7 processor
    16gb RAM (upgraded from 8gb)
Intel HD Graphics - AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB
It wasn't exactly going smooth on the 2011 one, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the one I have now.
I don't know if this is relevant, but video games run much better on the new one.
Also I cant select GPU under ray-tracing in the AE preferences > Previews > GPU Information. It says 'GPU not available - incompatible device or CUDA driver'. I've installed the CUDA driver, but I suppose it's worthless since I don't have an NVidia graphics card?
I don't know too much about hardware, but I hope it helps

  • Maximum File Size of .dv Import File to Premiere Pro CS5?

    Hello Community:
I searched this forum and Google in general, but could not find an absolute limit on the media file size I can import into a Premiere Pro CS5 project.  I'm scheduled to process the ".DV" recording from a conference, which could go on for hours.  I have asked the camera man to break up the recording in one-hour segments, but I'm getting some push-back.
Is there a specific size limitation on importing an NTFS file structure .dv file in Premiere Pro CS5?
    Thanks,
    Rich Locus

Same issue. I previously used  NeoScene to convert .mov files from a Canon 5d mark ii to the easier to edit with Gopro Cineform .avi format in Premiere Pro CC. They used to work fine but now Premiere only recognizes a very small part of the file. The first 18 seconds of an 8 minute file.
I tried importing the file to a new clean scene and the problem remained.
I need to be able to work with this footage. Somehow Premiere is no longer able to properly read clips it used to be able to read.
I would like to hear something from Adobe on this issue.
EDIT: I just updated my GoPro software to 2.0 and the problem was instantly solved. The same might apply to TechSmith.
EDIT 2: Upon rendering the edit I discovered that while the entire length of the clip was represented it in fact stopped playing new frames at the same frame as it had before. So no luck. Updating GoPro Cineform made the length of the file display correctly (7min) but did not actually let me play the file beyond the first 18 seconds - it just showed the same frame.
I deleted all preview files and cleaned Media Cache files (under media/preferences) - this didn't help.
Finally I made the file offline, closed Premiere, changed the file name and re-opened Premiere. Then I right clicked over the file in the Project window and chose replace file to re-connect. The file finally came in correctly. I've now rendered it and it runs through the entire 7 min.

  • Exsternal harddrive drops out, when using adobe premiere pro cs5. Cant load projects. any one had this problem or the answer to it?

I have two WD external hard drives that i keep all my video files, music and adobe premiere pro cs5 projects on. Up until 2 days ago they were working perfect, now they drop out when i try and load my projects from them, or watch a movie from them. tried restoring from two weeks ago and nothing changed. I get that error msg when i try and load something. The error msg is the one that comes up when you disconnect a usb drive without ejecting it correct. I don't think its the drives as i only use one most the time, and the other just sits there not connected, but that are now having the same issues. Help me plaza

The Yellow Devil May Cry video is the video with the audio problem,
The metal gear rising video is red because of the pic above it, and the sound works ok on that, infact that video is finished and uploaded to youtube now.

  • Error Importing Premiere Elements project into Premiere Pro CS5

    Hi,
I am working on a multi-part video project that I started in Premiere Elements 8.  I put in hours upon hours of editing on the first part and I found that the more I edited, the more often the program would crash (infuriating!).  So I started using Premiere Pro CS5 to produce the second part, resolving to come back to the first part later.  Well, I've come back around to needing this first part done, and it is just undoable in Elements (crashes every 20 seconds!).  I'd like to import that project into CS5 if possible.  The help documentation says this should be perfectly possible... but I'm having no luck.
When I attempt to open my Premiere Elements project in Premiere Pro, it tells me the project must be converted from Elements .prel to Pro .prproj, and I click through the prompts as normal.  But then as soon as it starts trying to open the project, I get this:
"The Project could not be loaded. It may be damaged or contain outdated elements."
I downloaded the Premiere Elements 9 trial to see if it would be less crashy (and it is), but I'd really prefer to have all my video in one program, and CS5 does the best job (and has most of my hours invested).  Elements 9 opens the "damaged" project just fine and I can edit and export normally, so why can't CS5?
Am I stuck recreating the project from the ground up in CS5?

In very general terms, a contemporary PrE Project (PREL), will Open in PrPro, with the steps that you outlined.
Now, there are all sorts of considerations, for aspects that will not likely work:
Instant Movie/Themes, as PrPro cannot read those
Some Effects that PrPro does not have, like the NewBlue FX
Some Transitions that PrPro does not have
Some Title animation Presets, that PrPro does not have
Do you have any of the above in your PrE Project? There are probably other circumstances, but those are all that come immediately to my mind.
The simpler the PrE Project, the greater the likelyhood that it will Convert to a PrPro PRPROJ file.
PrE 8 and PrPro CS5 should be close enough to work, again in those general terms. I can Open simple PrE 4.0 Projects in PrPro 2.0, but cannot Open PrE 7, 8 or 9 Projects in PrPro 2.0.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Elements project imported into Premiere Pro CS5.5 becomes unusable after first save

I have Premiere Pro CS5.5, and I have been trying for some time to successfuly edit an old project that was originally created in Premiere Elements (not sure which version--probably 7.0). It has the .prel extension. The project imports just fine, and I am able to edit it initially. However, if I save my new Premiere Pro project, close Pr and try to open the new project again, I get the "The project could not be loaded, it may be damaged or contain outdated elements." error message. I have tried many of the various project recovery suggestions people have made in this forum and elsewhere online, but none of them seem to work. I even opened the project in XML Wrench, but there were no errors returned when I clicked "check is well formed." Once I close the project after doing some initial editing, it is gone. Is this a known issue? Is there any way I can be able to edit the old project in Pr and save my work? Thanks!

Have you tried using the project manager to re-copy all elements and timeline etc into a totally new directory. I'm just curious to see if that would make a difference. I'd be intrested to see if when making a new project in this manor if it would because as you have stated the normal save methods haven't.

  • Can Premiere Elements 10.0 or 9.0/9.0.1 Saved Project.Prel be Imported into Premiere Pro CS5/CS5.5?

The Premiere Pro CS5 Supported Video Project file formats include:
PREL (Adobe Premiere Elements project) (Windows Only)
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premiere...a568-8000.html
and we know that the Premiere Elements project file is a project.prel.
Yet if you read the Premiere Elements 10 ReadMe, you see there the statement:
"You cannot import Adobe Premiere Elements 10.0 project into Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 or CS 5.5.".
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/907/cpsid_90745.html
The Premiere Elements 9.0 ReadMe has a similar statement about its prel file and Premiere Pro CS5/CS5.5.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/863/cpsid_86324.html
I am wondering if the person who wrote that into the ReadMe forgot to add "for Mac".
Can anyone with both Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 or 10.0 AND Premiere Pro CS5 or CS5.5 (all Windows) confirm what is written in the ReadMe for these version? I do not have Premiere Pro (any version) to confirm and refute what is written in those ReadMe and am looking for someone who has been there and looked at that.
Thanks for any input on this matter.
    ATR

    ATR,
I am still using XP-Pro SP3 on all of my active machines. I am also using PrPro CS2 Production Studio, and PrE 4.0 on only my laptop. I have the recent versions of both PrPro and PrE, but am waiting for my 64-bit Win7 laptop to be built (hang up with Cleveo MoBo's, to be resolved by about May).
When I installed PrE 4.0, it DID break the full CS2 suite, but by that point, Adobe knew of the issue, and had done a KB on the problem. In my case, just doing a Repair Install for each program in the CS2 suite, did the trick, and both programs have run, side-by-side for many years, without a hiccup. However, I have NOT uninstalled any of those Adobe programs, so cannot comment on what might go wrong.
Usually, Adobe programs coexist well. However, PrPro had an issue with CS3 and CS4. If one had both PrPro CS3 and CS4 installed on the same computer, then uninstalled CS3, it took some necessary "pieces" of CS4 with it. Again, the "trick" was to do a Repair Install for CS4, and all was fixed. I have not read of any other, such issues, but they might have just gone unreported, or reported in forums, that I do not frequent.
Wish that I had more to offer, especially regarding PrPro CS 5.5 and PrE 10. I just have not explored those programs, yet - late May?
    Good luck,

what should i do???..i almost done all the  editing in final cut pro and i bought the adobe coz i thought i can  finish all the pending FCP projects in Premier Pro..??

What is the CODEC in your MOV file(s)? MOV is but a "wrapper," like AVI. This ARTICLE will give you some background. It could be that you just need the proper CODEC, or it could be that it is a Mac-only CODEC, and then you will need for the producer to Export in another CODEC, that is PC-compatible.
This ARTICLE will give you some background on CODEC's, in general.
