Import pst files in Outlook 2013

Hi all!
I have a simple question for you...
The normal procedure suggested me to import a pst file from Outlook 2007 to Outlook 2013 from File->Open and Export->Import/Export->Import data from other programs....etc. This procedure works normally.
If I export mail by mail (one each mail at time) from Outlook 2007 to a normal folder in my desktop I have a folder with more .msg files. And, when I finished to do this I import mail by mail from my desktop folder to new .pst file in Outlook 2013.
This procedure can be corrupt or damage the pst file?
Many thanks!
Bye!

You are using the term "export" for two different scenarios - one of which has nothing to do with "exporting". Similarly, the term "folder" means 2 different things under the scenario described.
Specifically, you don't export email's one message at a time, in this case, these are being "saved" in a Windows folder which is not the same thing as an Outlook folder (contained in a PST file).
Instead of going through this latter process which has to be time-consuming and a pain, have you considered simply opening the pst file used in O'2007 and then just moving/copying the desired messages to the desired O'2013 folder? Am sure there is a reason
that you're going through this latter process but on the surface it seems that it's a long way around to arrive at your destination.

  • Can not import Outlook 2007 .CSV or .PST files into Outlook 2013 on Win 8.1 64 bit

I have a new computer (Sony VAIO Pro 11 Ultrabook) with a brand new install of Win 8.1 - 64 bit and MS Office 2013 Professional Plus.  Everything works fine EXCEPT I can not import my contacts or calendar from Outlook 2007 Win 7 - 32 bit into the
.msn folders in each case.  I can open .pst files in Outlook 2013 but they open in a local file and when I copy and paste them into the Exchange ActiveSync .msn contact and calendar files so that they will sync with Outlook.com Outlook 2013 crashes.
It can't even be reopened unless the wireless is turned off, and then you have to create a new data file as a default and then delete the old account and re-establish it.  I have tried using the import functions as well with both
.CSV and .PST files that were exported from Outlook 2007 and an error message stating that this is not supported comes up.  I have also tried to turn on sync with my iPhone to see if the files will sync from the phone through Outlook.com and nothing happens
there either - no sync on the web and nothing at the PC.  Email works fine after adding the account again etc.
None of the procedures on the forums work (open PST file in the local folder then copy/paste, drag/drop, or move the files) so please don't respond with those links.  All result in crash.  Does anyone at MS know what's up with their latest
    and greatest SW?
    Thank you for your assistance.

Import the calendar and contacts in Outlook.com. For contacts, export from Outlook as csv and import into Outlook by choosing the Other option (https://people.live.com/import/other?biciid=ImportCatalog)
You'll need to save the calendar as an ics file to import it. Select the calendar folder, the File, Save as an save as an ics.

  • How to import mailbox files in Outlook 2013??

How do I import Mozilla Thunderbird archived mailboxes in Microsoft Outlook 2013? I used Mozilla Thundebird in Mac book pro earlier, from some time I have been using Windows pc and for some reason I needed to access my older mails that I had archived from Mozilla Thunderbird. How do I import those files in Outlook 2013??
    Please help...!!

Thunderbird mails cannot be directly imported into Outlook because of file format compatibility issues. Outlook can import .pst file format, so first we need to convert thunderbird mail to .pst format. This can be done here: http://www.gladwevsoftware.com/thunderbird-to-pst-converter/
After that follow these steps to import the converted pst file in outlook 2013:-
    1. Click File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
    2. This starts the Import and Export Wizard.
    3. Choose Import from another program or file, and then click Next.
    4. Choose Outlook Data File (.pst) and click Next.
    5. Browse to the .pst file you want to import.
    6. Under Options, choose how you want to deal with duplicates
    7. Click Next.
    8. If a password was assigned to the Outlook Data File (.pst), enter the password, and then click OK.
    9. Set the options for importing items. The default settings usually don’t need to be changed.
    10. Click Finish.
    I hope this helps. thanks

  • Importing Archive File into Outlook 2013

We got a couple of new PCs for some users and one of them had an Archive folder in Outlook 2010. I still have the archive.pst file from the old PC and I'm trying to import it into Outlook 2013 but it's not working. It seems pretty straight forward but
after I choose the archive.pst file, it doesn't actually add anything. Am I missing a step?

    Hi,
Please do the following steps to copy your archive.pst file to Outlook 2013 and open it:
    1. Open Outlook 2010 in your old PC.
    2. Click File > Open > Open Outlook Date File.
    3. Copy the location of the Archive file from the opening windows(example: C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\Outlook Files).
    4. Close Outlook 2010, and paste the copied location in Windows Explorer and Enter it.
    5. Copy the Archive file. (To double check the file is copied completely, we can paste it in the local old machine and open it to have a test.)
    6. Paste the copied Archive file in new PC.
    7. Open Outlook 2013 in new PC.
    8. Click File > Open&Export > Open Outlook Data File, expand the location of your pasted Archive file and open it.
Then check whether there are any messages in the opened archive folder.

  • How to import OLM file into Outlook 2013?

Last week, I switched to Windows 8 PC. It works fine but annoying with email application. Previous email backup file of Outlook 2011 (OLM) file was not supported by Outlook 2013 email application.
Can anyone help to fix this one issue?

    Hi Smithazus,
You face failure result due to bad practice of email migration. Before importing any email file in to new email client, please make sure few things as follows:
    Similar email file format
    Awareness with import process
    Safe environment for data safety
Outlook 2013 uses PST file which is different from OLM files. In this context, you are advised to convert OLM files into PST file (Outlook 2013 supported file). As any manual method of such conversion is not available, you can try automated software which is developed by third party vendors.

  • Why are missing items when import pst files to Outlook 2011 for mac?

    Hello.
After installing Office 2011 for Mac I configured Outlook and it was allright.
But when I tried to import a pst file from the old laptop who has Office 2007, I found that in the Outlook 2011 Inbox I have only ~60% items comparative with the Outlook 2007 Inbox.
From Microsoft Office forums I've got an answer that there are indeed some reports with missing items when import pst in Outlook 2011 but the solution they gave me (create folders in Inbox before import) doesn't work.
Do you know something about this kind of problems?
Is it a feature in Outlook 2011 which automaticaly select/delete/combine items based on the similarity between them or based something else?
Have you an ideea how to finally use this macbook and in the same time all my old emails?
    Thanks.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for this-yes, eventually, I do send/receive fine, once I've poppedd my passwords in.
I think you are right in that BT seem to be having unique server/login issues...at least this is what I've read elsewhere too.
Iroonically, this AM I opened my new Mac and have *not* been asked for passwords so perhaps the changes I made in the settings yesterday (keychain reset in Mac) and also changing it from smtp.....to mail.btinternet.com solved the issue...who knows? All I know is this last week I've nearly lost the will to live on more than one occasion, from the transition from PC Windows Live Mail to Outlook for Mac.

  • Importing .pst files from Outlook to Enourage2004

    Hi everyone,
I am looking for the easiest way to help my mother-in-law transfer over her PC files to her brand new MacBook (1.83Ghz Intel Duo)- she is a first time Mac user. I personally have little experience using Entourage, so I am trying to find out the best way to transfer over her files. She exported her outlook files (.pst) onto a USB flash drive so we can import onto the new Mac; however, there is no .pst option for import on the Entourage program. She does not have Outlook Express, but Outlook 2005 from the Office suite.
Any way of getting those .pst files off the flash drive? Her PC desktop is at her home in Virginia, and she just purchased the Macbook today with me out in LA. We would like to set up her Entourage ASAP, especially since I can help her while she is here in LA. If not, open to other suggestions (like .csv file export/import) or anyone know of any useful scripts?
    Thanks so much
    Leah

We currently have the .pst files on a USB flash drive- is there anything that we can download on the MacBook to convert pst files?

  • Can I migrate a 16 GByte .pst file from Outlook 2013 to TB on a Windows 7 64-bit PC? Will my blocked junk senders work?

Worried about the large .pst file. I use IMAP and read there may be a 4 GByte limit if Local Folders are used but I do not understand what "Local Folders" means. I have a large (several hundred) blocked senders list and wonder if TB will import the whole list at one time or if I need to enter the blocked senders one by one.

@Merel, I find it amusing that people have hundreds of blocked senders. I have been using internet mail since late 1980s. I have been actively using some of my mail accounts since before the Millennium. I have no blocked senders.
I used to have blocked senders in MSN messenger and Yahoo messenger as it was the only SPAM control option available, but I have Zero blocked senders in my mail client. I certainly get loads of spam in my Yahoo account, it is something Yahoo appear to be incapable of managing. I get very very little in my other mail accounts, so other providers can mange it.
Thunderbird does an excellent job of managing my spam with only a few each day making it to my inbox.
You appear to think transferring this list from client to client is important. I would really like you to tell me why! Then I would love an explanation why you think syncing of such list has merit.
Most people with lots of blocked senders appear to think a blocklist is a SPAM management tool. It is not.
Either they are using blocked senders for SPAM control, something that is simply not appropriate as it is a slow process. To place each mail in a list and check it against 500 email addresses you don't like simply bogs down the receipt of mail.
Or they are and a particularly unlikable person that just

  • How do I import Outlook Express message files into Outlook 2013 without using LiveMail

I bought a new Windows 7 computer and have copied the Outlook Express .dbx files from the old XP computer onto the new one. Outlook 2013 's import facility does not have a .dbx option.  I  do not want to use Windows Live for anything. How do
I import my Outlook Express mail files into Outlook 2013 ?

    Hi,
It isn't only to Outlook 2013, other versions of Outlook cannot access the .dbx files directly.
In the situation, Windows Live Mail is needed to transfer the mail data to Outlook.

  • How to import Apple Mail archive files in Outlook 2013?

I need to import Apple Mail archived files in Outlook 2013 on Windows, but every time I open the import wizard and reach the file selection step, I cannot select the archived file. It doesn't even show in the dialog box.
I don't know what the issue is. Is it the file size issue as the archive file is large (about 7 GB) or there is any other fault?

If both system are using the IMAP mail provider all you have to do is setup the connection to the mail server and all the emails and folders will be copied down to the windows computer. That is what IMAP is for. The mail stays on the server, and can be store
on the local computer also, and when you connect to the server with another device, computer, phone or pad, all the mail with folders gets copied to the other device.
But I think some of your mail was gotten using POP so it is not longer on the server.
Or you have emails in local folder only and they would be on the server. But you can create folder on the server in one mail program, or on the mail web interface and then copy those emails into those folder on the server byt copying them in one of the email
programs. Then when you log on with the other device all of them will be downloaded to the other device.
Other alternative:- You can find various solutions on having a google search
for your problem. Or you can have a look at the following link: Apple mail to Outlook Windows

As soon as I start importing a pst file (from Outlook 2003) into Outlook for Mac 2011 I receive the following message in a pop-up window:  "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close."

  • Import contacts from old outlook 2013 to new Outlook 2013

I recently had to get a new computer.  I removed the boot drive from the old computer and installed it as drive F on the new computer. This worked great in recovering my large data files.  However, drive F contains an instance of Outlook 2013
as does drive C.  How do I copy to or import drive F's contact info to the new Outlook 2013 contacts?  I do not need the old email messages as I already have gotten them from the email service provider.

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to import contacts from old Outlook 2013 to the new Outlook 2013 please follow these steps: -
Collect Files from the Old Computer
First, you need the PST from your old computer. In most cases, they will be in the default location Outlook uses. To quickly access the default PST location outside of
Outlook, paste this line in Windows Explorer’s address bar:
    %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Copy the Files to the New Computer
Now, you will copy the PSTs to the new computer. If you have several PSTs in the folder and are not sure which one is the one with your data, look at the file dates and
file sizes. If you have 265KB PST files, they are empty and don’t need to be moved.
Paste the following line into the address bar.
    %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
In this folder you will have the NK2, SRS, XML, outlprnt, and VBA project files.
Open the AppData Roaming folder using the following command and copy the NK2 file to the folder.
    %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Outlook
    Create a Profile
After the PST file is on the local drive, type mail in the start search field on the
Start menu or go to Control Panel, Mail then opens the profile dialog. (If you use the
Category view, mail is under the Users group; in Win 64-bit, Mail is under 32-bit application.
    Click the Show Profile button.
Click Add to create a new profile.
Enter a descriptive name for your profile.
Enter the name you want to use for your display name, your email address, and your password.
Add Your Existing Data File (PST) to the Profile
If you have an Outlook data file PST, and you want to use with your new profile, then please follow these steps: -
Select the newly created profile, then click Properties.
Click Data files button to open Account Setting dialog to the Data files tab.
Click Add then browse to your existing PST file.
If the PST is a native Outlook 2003/2007 file type, choose the top entry for the Outlook Personal File. Click Ok.
    Select your existing PST file.
You can enter a friendly name or just click OK to return the Account Settings dialog.
Click the Sets as Default button. Select the PST Outlook created when it created the profile and click Remove. If you want, click Open folder to find and deletes this PST.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • PST Capture error when trying to import .PST files

I am currently migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 on prem.  I have installed PST Capture 2.0 and 64-bit Outlook 2013 on a Windows 2008 R2 machine and have installed the PST Capture 2.0 agent on a workstation that has some .pst files
on it.  PST Capture finds all the .pst files on the workstation, but when I use PST Capture to try to import PST files into a mailbox on Exchange 2013, I get the error "Import error: Error opening mailbox [email protected]".
I created a userID with a mailbox to run PST Capture.  Based on the instructions at
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh781035%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx I have made that user a member of the groups that are assigned the Public Folder Management role, the Mailbox Import Export role and the Organizational Management role.  The
user is also a local admin on the machine running the PST Capture console.  While the error sounds like a permissions issue, these are the only permissions I could find documented for PST Capture.  I am starting PST Capture with "Run as administrator"
Any ideas why this isn't working?  Are there any other permissions that the PST Capture user needs?  Is there anything else I need to do?
Thank you very much for your help.

Generally PST capture tool allows you to search for PST files & import these PST files
to the mailboxes but as your account is not getting connected, so you need to check settings of your PST Capture tool :
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh781032(v=exchg.141).aspx
If this solution does not work out for you, then I would advise you to use any professional
tool for exchange migration like CodeTwo , Stellar. From my personal experience, I would recommend you to go for Stellar Mailbox Extractor for Exchange Server as it migrated my mailboxes to another Exchange Server in quick time.
