Import settings into cc 2014

Just "upgraded" to CC (2014), which in traditional Adobe stone age style installs a completely new application. Adobe... why do you hate your customers?
Now all the installed plugins, presets, workspaces and other customisations I use are completely ignored.
Settings syncing is turned on. Does nothing.
I exported settings from CC and imported them into CC 2014. CC 2014 claims the settings file doesn't contain any valid Illustrator settings.
Thanks Adobe. Looks like the annual ritual of setting everything up from scratch and manually copying files from folder to folder is the only solution, unless anyone knows a better way?
Seriously... didn't this method of "upgrading" versions disappear around the same time as shareware?

It does not magically appear in a new place. It will only be where you put it.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

Importing .psd into Premiere Pro CC 2014

I am trying to import a Photoshop file (.psd) into Premiere Pro CC 2014. I've watched all these tutorials and they make it look so easy using Import > Adobe Photoshop file and then it appears in the source monitor--it seems to be the same as well on their tutorials. However, my .psd file which needs to have white font and does in Photoshop comes up as different color (black) and is much smaller. I am doing this in a 4K sequence, I understand the dimension aspect, but when I try to import I set as Single Layers and it doesn't matter--black font again. Is there something I am doing wrong in PS or PP or both? I would really appreciate your feedback because I'm in a rut and nothing seems to work. The Photoshop file is one that was preloaded for this band but it just does not import correctly. Any other options for getting a Photoshop file into Premiere Pro CC 2014 or AE. I also tried this in CS6 and was hoping to just copy and paste into CC 2014. I can't believe it is this hard. I must be doing something wrong especially since everyone else seems to do it so easy. I wonder if I'm missing that OK because the screen on this netbook is smaller than a laptop and only supports 1024 X 600. I can't scroll that box up any, and can't grab the top and move it up. So when I exit that box I have to click the x in the top right corner.
Acck. Yes, that'll be the issue. There's an OK and a Cancel down at the bottom of the screen.
This is going to seem a weird suggestion, but it's the only thing that is springing to mind at the moment ... Do you know someone with an external monitor, or a TV that supports PC input? If so, try temporarily attaching the netbook to that. Can you do the preference change on the larger monitor?

Import / Load Compliance Baseline Settings into a Windows Client

Hi all, I am using a Baseline with a set of CI´s deployed to CM 2012 collection of Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines.
Everything is working property, on the other hand I am checking a way to export somehow the baseline + ci´s settings and load / import those settings into a client machine that is not included on the collection where the baseline is deployed.
In other words, is there anyway to have a XML / MOF / CAB, with all the baseline definition and import it to a windows client and evaluate that baseline.
I will like to include this procedure (import a BL + evaluate) at the last step of my OSD Task Sequence, so that way I could qualify the installation based on this baseline at the right moment the task sequence finish.

I am reformatting and rebuilding my Win 7 computer. How do I export all the settings from iTunes so I can import them into my new install?

I need to rebuild my computer which has iTunes synced with my iPhone and iPad. How do I export all the settings from iTunes so I can import them into the new install and not have to go through all the setup again? My music library is my own and on a NAS drive so not going to lose it. I am mainly concerned about setup parameters. Thank you for any assistance.

There's nothing to export.
The iTunesLibrary.itl file contains all the settings, playlists, and playcounts.
Copy or backup all your important files including the ENTIRE iTunes folder, then restore all your data including the ENTIRE iTunes folder once the system is formatted and rebuilt/reloaded.

Importing EA4500 settings into a EA6500 router

I had to upgrade my EA4500 to an EA6500 as the EA4500 kept losing wireless connectivity from the modem as well as occasionally would stop working wirelessly. Rather than swap with another EA4500 I opted to upgrade to an EA6500 and was wondering if I can just export the settings from the EA4500 and import them into the EA6500 or are the not compatible?
If they will import, will I need to make any changes? The reason I ask is we have (2) xBox units and had issues getting them to work until I went into the gaming section of the router and opened some ports. I also had to make some additional changes (but I really don;t know where and what was changed). I spent almost an hour on the phone with a rep making these changes.
Please advise.

Importing itunes into final cut express

I just bought an IMAC with Final Cut Express to do all my video editing of my kids activities. I used Pinnacle Studio on my old PC prior to this but it finally gave out. I downloaded some music CD's I had into itunes and then tried importing the music into FCE. This is not working. I have no problem adding it to my imovies but it will not work with FCE. The music format is m4a which I think is typical.
I went to You Tube and watch several tutorials from some of fellow FC users and still cannot get it to work. There must be something I have to set up in FCE to get this to work but I do not know what that is. I been looking around the program and have not been successful. Any help any of you can provide would be great. Thanks.. Ron

Hi Ron, and welcome to the FCE Forum !
You should convert the audio files to AIFF, 48KHz (aka 16-bit) stereo before importing them into FCE. Neither CDs nor iTunes songs are in that format. You can use iTunes to do the conversion.
With a new Mac and Snow Leopard you probably have iTunes9. Open Preferences, then go to General > Import Settings, then select AIFF and set Custom Settings as 48KHz, 16-bit, stereo. Save the settings. Then in your music library, select the song(s) you want to convert and do Advanced > Create AIFF version. (Note: the format you selected in Import Settings controls what the Advanced > Create menu option does.)

How do I remove an entry from the "Store Files" drop down list in the "Import Settings" section of Aperture 3.3.2

The dropdown list "Store Files" in the "Import Settings" section of Aperture 3.3.2 displays the history of the entries previously added to the list. Is the MacOS X version in your signature correct? Then you cannot be using Aperture 3.3.2?
You should not be seeing duplicate entries in the "Store Files" pop-up menu. This looks like your Aperture Preferences file is corrupted and needs fixing.
Quit Aperture (and log off and on again, if you are running MacOS X 10.7 or later)
Then reveal your User Library (from the Finder's main menu bar, the "Go" menu. Hold down the options-key until the library apears in the drop-down menu)
In the Library folder select the "Preferences folder and locate the file "~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist"
Now you can either
remove the com.apple.Aperture.plist file to the Desktop, to force Aperture to create a new one, but you will have to set again your Preferences from the "Preferences" panel,
or make a backup copy of the file and edit it, if you are an experienced programmer and have Xcode installed. To fix the drop-down list you need to edit the item "RecentReferenceFolders" and delete the redundant folder names. Enter "recent" into the search field to find it quickly. If you click an item in the list, plus/minus buttons should appear. But only try this, if you know how to edit property lists, otherwise it will be much safer to delete the faulty list and to set your preferences again from the "Preferences" panel.

I made a 'Blurb' book using Lightroom on a computer that was not mine. I backed up the book on an external hard drive and then tried to import the book into my imac. I wasn't able to retrieve my book. The photos I used for the book project are there, but the 45 page book I made is not there.
What do I need to do?

You would need to go to the computer containing the book.
Select the saved book in the Collection panel.
Go to Grid View [ G ] and select all the images [Cmd/Ctrl][A]
File>Export as Catalog and store on media you can use to transfer
Bring this catalog onto your computer
File>Import from another catalog and bring the transitory catalog into your master catalog.
It should bring the images, your collections (including your book) and other settings into your own catalog.

Unable to import IDoc into NWBPM from NWDS

Why I can't I import mbx into Mail?

I am trying to transfer a colleague's e-mails from her old PC (running Windows Mail under Vista) to Apple Mail 6.6 on her MacBook Pro (running OS8.5).
There are a lot of nested folders of email within her existing mail programme.
Using a free utility, I have successfully exported all the emails on the PC, and converted the .eml files to .mbx files, maintaining the file structure, and copied them to the Mac. It should now be simple enough to import the mbx files into Apple Mail.
The import works after a fashion, but it adds an extra level of folders within the file structure, putting each e-mail in its own sub folder within Mail.
E.g. Instead of seeing IMPORT/INBOX/AnEmail
I see IMPORT/INBOX/773p6CA1-00---1/AnEmail
This makes it impossible to search the imported emails, so they become pretty useless.
I also tried converting the emails to emlx, and then using the 'Import from Apple Mail' option, but the same thing happens.
HOW CAN I STOP THIS HAPPENING? (It's driving me a bit mad.)

Iphone does not save to the SIM card.

The install of 2014 doesn't move or copy anything from a previous version, with the exception of settings. You can go into your Photoshop CC installation folder, navigate to your plugins folder and then just copy all the plugins you've installed from that folder and into the Photoshop CC 2014 plugins folder. The plugins should then be available in 2014 the next time you launch Photoshop.
The only thing that may prevent this from working is if you're using the 32bit version of Photoshop CC. Photoshop CC 2014 is 64bit only so 32bit plugins don't work. If this is the case for you, check out the manufacturer of the plugins and see if they have 64bit versions available.

Finding proper import settings

I have been having a problem with my audio not lining up with my video when I export a project. From reading some forum posts here it seems like it may be import settings causing the problem but I have no idea how to select the proper import setting. Here is some info that I can find, please let me know if you need more and where I can find it.
They are .mod files from my Panasonic SDR-H200 digital camcorder. I am just trying to splice together a few files from my daughter's birthday but when I export it as a quicktime file for vimeo. I am using Eugenia's guidelines for export here. However my audio is ahead of my video.
The files are

Use the Hard Drive/DVD project settings and you should be fine. (Make sure it matches your video, whether you're using the 4:3 or 16:9 mode.) You don't say which version of the program you're using, so I can't tell you the exact setting to use -- but a standard def hard drive camcorder setting should work.
Your camcorder is just a standard-def hard drive camcorder.
As you add clips to the timeline, you'll see red line above the clips. This means you'll need to render your timeline regularly as you work by pressing the Enter key. (The red lines above the clips will turn green.)
In my books I offer more specific information on working with standard def MPEGs and my advice on why and how it's wisest to convert them to DV-AVIs before you bring them into the program. You'll find a lot of that information in the FAQs to the right of this forum.
