Import settings with YYYY MM DD?

I just started using Lightroom and I would like to be able to import my photos with the folder name in the format YYYY MM DD (year month day), but Lightroom doesn't seem to support this format? The closest thing I've found is YYYY-MM-DD, but this is a problem since all my previous folders have been named in the YYYY MM DD format (using Photoshop Elements). This messes up the order of my folders and makes it really hard to find the folders by date, since the dates are out of order. Is there a way to get around this? I have hundereds of folders, so I'd like not to have to rename all the old folders in the YYYY-MM-DD format to keep my photos organized.

Pardner Wynn's article seems to imply that TranslatedStrings.txt is no longer operational in Lightroom. It most definitely is - I depend on it.
And it can be used to specify any date format you'd prefer.
For example, if you change
"$$$/AgImportDialog/ShootArrangement_1/Label=Nach Datum: 2005\12-17"
"$$$/AgImportDialog/ShootArrangement_1/Template=%Y/%m-%d"
to
"$$$/AgImportDialog/ShootArrangement_1/Label=Nach Datum: 2005 12 17"
"$$$/AgImportDialog/ShootArrangement_1/Template=%Y %m %d"
It'll do what you want.
The tricky bit is that it's NOT provided in 'en' resource subdirectory, only the "foreign" language subdirectories, so if you use the english version, you have to create the file yourself, and copy the tidbits you want to customize from one of the others.
Perhaps an easier solution is to use Jeffrey Friedl's "Online Lr Configurator", which creates and/or modifies the appropriate TranslatedStrings.txt file for you:

Import settings with YYYY-MM-DD format

A few days ago, I moved from Windows to Mac. I used Downloader Pro on Windows to import photos directly onto my drive with the format d:\photos\YYYY\YYYY-MM\YYYY-MM-DD\filename and then import them into Lightroom.
I had thought that I would be able to do this in Lightroom, but I can't see how.
Is there a way, or does anyone know a Mac utility that can do it?

In the Import Dialogue, on the right side, choose Import by Date and then choose that date format from the dropdown list.
I was surprised by the extensive list of formats that are supported.

I wonder if I'm missing that OK because the screen on this netbook is smaller than a laptop and only supports 1024 X 600. I can't scroll that box up any, and can't grab the top and move it up. So when I exit that box I have to click the x in the top right corner.
Acck. Yes, that'll be the issue. There's an OK and a Cancel down at the bottom of the screen.
This is going to seem a weird suggestion, but it's the only thing that is springing to mind at the moment ... Do you know someone with an external monitor, or a TV that supports PC input? If so, try temporarily attaching the netbook to that. Can you do the preference change on the larger monitor?

Most of the detail is in the initial question because I didn't realize we could add on...but I am currently running steady state on a PC in my office and it is rebooted every night with hard disk protection enabled so I start with a fresh slate every morning. I found a regedit trick to prevent firefox from popping up the "would you like to import settings from IE?" thing every time, but my issue now is that every morning I have to re confirm exceptions for sites that I routinely use... Is there a way to get around having to do that every morning when people log into this computer? I am willing to write a batch script if someone could give me direction or mess with the registry if need be....

Import PO with GR based

We are Going for Import PO.
We are creating the Import PO with Gr based Indicator. now Tax code is Zero.
Customs clearing account is seprate.. from that A/c we will pay the Customs amount.
So while doing the MIRO for Customs.(planned delivery cost from MIRO option), system will generate the Commercial exc Inv No.
So when i go for MIGO with ref to PO. then system will Popup the Commercial Exc Iv no then we will cancel from MIGO screen .
Then system will shown me the Full PO qty's BED ,ECS and SECess and AED... but iam capturing the MIGO partaily.... Excise base value also shwon in USD.....

What i understood from your thread is you want to do the Excise invoice for partially and pay duties to the custom vendor for the partial quantity of goods receipt, for the same you can change the duty and the quantity while doing the MIRO trax. So the same data will flow when you will enter the MIGO screen and mention there the commercial invoice number.
For partial delivery check in your vendor settings, the GR based INV verification should be marked. For multiple currency check your settings in SPRO. The sytem defaults the same from vendor master.

What are the best import settings for iTunes - AAC 160 / AAC 192 / MP3??

Hi I originally imported all my treasured CDs to iTunes several years ago, and they've served me well (AAC 128 - default setting) but in recent times hard-drive sizes have trebled and my much loved iTunes Library has not been updated.
I am thinking of re-importing all of my original CDs - as I think now that hard-drive space would allow for a higher quality but at the same time I do not want to fill my hard-drive completely with music - hence my question;
WHAT ARE THE BEST IMPORT SETTINGS CONSIDERING SIZE AND QUALITY?
(I know this has probably been asked a million times, but I did a search and nothing came up that answered my Q - also all the answers that came up in Google search where dated 2003/ 2004 - a little out-dated me thinks!!)

Personally I've started ripping everything Apple Lossless. That way I hope I never have to rip again.
I used to rip 320 mp3. I couldn't tell the difference between 320 mp3 and lossless, but, one day I might be able to - big maybe. But since disk price is not likely to go up, I figured I'd rip lossless from now on "just in case."
Probably few, if any, people could tell the difference between 256 AAC and lossless (I've done it at 192, but never at 256, and I have not bothered trying again recently - there might be a song out there where I could hear the difference, hence ripping lossless from now on - my time costs more than disk space . . .)
256 AAC is a pretty safe bet, unless you need mp3 compatibility, then use 256 (or 320) mp3.

Finding proper import settings

I have been having a problem with my audio not lining up with my video when I export a project. From reading some forum posts here it seems like it may be import settings causing the problem but I have no idea how to select the proper import setting. Here is some info that I can find, please let me know if you need more and where I can find it.
They are .mod files from my Panasonic SDR-H200 digital camcorder. I am just trying to splice together a few files from my daughter's birthday but when I export it as a quicktime file for vimeo. I am using Eugenia's guidelines for export here. However my audio is ahead of my video.
The files are
width:704
height:480
data rate:9542kbps
total bitrate: 9798kbps
frame rate: 29 frames/second
audio
bit rate: 256kbps
channels: 2 (stereo)
audio sample rate: 48 kHz
Thanks for any help or direction, I really seem kind of clueless with the video although I picked up photoshop and illustrator OK on my own through tutorials, trial and error etc.

Use the Hard Drive/DVD project settings and you should be fine. (Make sure it matches your video, whether you're using the 4:3 or 16:9 mode.) You don't say which version of the program you're using, so I can't tell you the exact setting to use -- but a standard def hard drive camcorder setting should work.
Your camcorder is just a standard-def hard drive camcorder.
As you add clips to the timeline, you'll see red line above the clips. This means you'll need to render your timeline regularly as you work by pressing the Enter key. (The red lines above the clips will turn green.)
In my books I offer more specific information on working with standard def MPEGs and my advice on why and how it's wisest to convert them to DV-AVIs before you bring them into the program. You'll find a lot of that information in the FAQs to the right of this forum.

Importing issues with Final Cut Pro X. Green flash and twitches while play back

Hello, I'm having some importing issues with Final Cut Pro X and I can't find any solution whatsoever. Perhaps my importing settings are wrong?
Anyways, I've done a lot of recordings on eye TV and HD PVR with some videos that are about 3 hours long. I exported them into H.264 files, which turns them into mpeg-4 files with AAC audio. Then I import them into final cut pro X and I notice it takes a long time for them to render the videos and I notice that there are some green screens and twitches while I play through the video.

Could it be my 2 video graphics card that is causing this kind of issues? Or is there any solution to fix this?
In the past, I've used iMovie 09 and it worked out perfectly. However, the new iMovie 11 is terrible because it automatically optimzie my 3 hour long videos into making the importing process to (144 hours long to import). Is there any way to get iMovie 09 back or am I stuck on dealing with this Final Cut Pro X issues?

My Hauppauge HD PVR settings are set to custom. Video Constant Bit Rate, the average bit rate: 13.5 Mbps. The audio is AAC.
My project settings for video properties is set to custom, 720P HD Format, 1280 x 720 Resolution and 30P Rate. The audio and render properties is set to custom, audio channels is stereo, audio sample rate is 48kHz and the Render Format is Apple ProRes 422.
I export the video as a quicktime movie. The export setting is H.262.
The summary of the export is:
File type: Quicktime movie
Estimated size: 397GB
H.264, Width and height: 1280 x 720. Framte rate: 30 fps

Import settings not saved

I'm running iTunes 4.9.0.17 loaded from the disc that came with my Nano and have used all its functionality with no trouble until now. (I reverted to this previous version due to import problems with 6.0). I can change the import settings, but the changes won't stick after exiting the window. When I reopen Preferences and check the Import settings, they always revert back to the default High Quality (160kbps) setting. My drivers and firmware are up to date. I've made no changes to my hardware or software configurations. I have very little hair left after trying to figure this out, so any help is greatly appreciated. A more detailed system configuration is available, if it will help.

Check out this post from Otto42. It deals with EQ presets, but I have a strong suspicion that your Import settings are in the same file.

The Video check box in the Import Settings is greyed out, what have I done?

I am using a Sony Handycam HDR-SR5E with final cut pro (v7.0l). When logging and transferring my recent files I found i only imported the sound. So returning to the log and transfer window, and checking on the import settings i notice the check boxes are grayed out and the video box is unchecked.
I have no idea what I have done, some of the files will allow me to import video, but the files i really need won't. Just retested the camera and the file i just recorded will allow me to import the video. Any ideas, i want to avoid making the same mistake again and ideally would like to get the video out of the camera.

Deleting FCP Preferences:
Open a Finder window. Set the view mode to columns:
Click the house icon that has your name next to it.
Click the folder "Library" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Preferences" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Final Cut Pro User Data" in the next column.
Move the files "Final Cut Pro 6.0 Prefs", "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" and "Final Cut Pro Prof Cache" to the Trash and empty it.
When you have a stable set of preference files, download [Preference Manager|http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm] to back them up.

Cannot Change Custom Import Settings For AAC's

Last night I changed the custom import settings from 192 kbps to 160 kbps for a particular mp3 album I wanted to convert with that bitrate. I tried to change the custom settings back to 192 kbps (the bitrate most of my mp3's & wma's are in). For some reason, the window that came up many times before refuses to pop up now. I tried the custom settings for mp3's and that window still pops up. Anyway, I tried a repair and nothing happened. I uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, and Apple Software Updates, deleted there corresponding folders in C:/Program Files and then restarted the computer. I downloaded the iTunes 9 installer through the iTunes website and proceeded to reinstall iTunes. Still, the problem exists. I'm not sure what else to do? The only other thing I can think of is to do the same except install iTunes 8 instead and then search for updates and reinstall iTunes 9 that way. Would anyone know of any other method on solving my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

No matter what itunes import settings, I select its always MP3

Hey guys, Ive been downloading music from youtube. No matter what import settings I choose it always downloads as MP3. Ive tries selecting ACC, and apple lossless nothing changes.
Also what is the best music format for quality, I dont care about file size. Thanks!!!!

Either one. Apple Lossless is ~50%-60% of WAV/AIFF size.

You can only donwload files in whatever format they are.
Once it is downloaded you can convert it.
But if it is downloaded MP3, don't convert it to anything else. You will simply reduce the quality or greatly increase the file size (with no gain in quality).

ITunes 9 Default Import Settings

Hi. I have a Mac with iTunes 9.0.2. What are the default import settings in kbps? I want the best quality even if it means larger files. I couldn't find a way to change the quality of the imported files, although my other Mac with iTunes 7 has that feature under the Advanced settings.
My Mac has OS 10.4 so I'm unable to upgrade to iTunes 10.1. I tried to find a download for version 10.0 but was unsuccessful.

I selected "ACC Encoder-iTunes Plus" for import settings to import cd's. I assumed music purchased from the iTunes Store was mp3 format.Which is it?

I selected "AAC-iTunes Plus" as my import settings when importing CD's to my iTunes library. When I reviewed "get info" on purchased songs from iTunes, it says "Kind: Purchased AAC audio file". All of the purchased songs in my library say this. I assumed all purchased songs were "automatically" imported in mp3 format. Do the import settings I chose also apply to purchased music? Also, what can I do to have my library songs changed to mp3 format?

All songs sold in the iTunes Store are AAC/256.
The import setting affects ripping and conversion. It has nothing to do with purchases from the iTunes Store.
If you need MP3s, you can convert your AACs by using this procedure: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550 But it would be easier to buy MP3s in the first place, for example from Amazon MP3.
MP3s can be used in iTunes or almost any other player, program or device.
