Import Signatures into Mail.app

I'm trying to find out if there is a way to import signatures from a web based account such as yahoo or something similar. I have the POP setup already and the email is working fine but it would nice to be able to import signatures b/c the content of the signature changes quite often. Any help would be amazing.

I've never heard of anything at all that would do this. you can do it by hand but there is nothing that will automate this.

  • Is it possible to import messages into Mail that are in .csv format?

Just in case my previous topic subject was preventing some folks from checking this out, I'lll try to ask my question in a more generic way.
I have an archive of a mailbox from another email program that I'm trying to move over to Apple Mail. My archive is saved as a .csv file. I can open the file in either Numbers, Excel, or TextEdit, and I can see that all the info is there. However, I want to be able to import these into Mail so that I can integrate these old messages with my other emails. I would want to be able to search for these messages using Mail's search tools and be able to identify messages based on who they're from, the subject line, date received, etc.
Specifically, this archive was exported out of Earthlink Total Access. My only options out of Earthlink were to export out as either .csv or a proprietary .dat file. I'm trying to figure out how to get the .csv file into Mail. I tried going through Entourage, but Entourage only imports contacts from a .csv file and not messages. I found a Unix utility that coverts a .csv to an mbox file (which Entourage would be able to import), but I'm not sure how to get it to work (I'm not that swift with Unix).

    Any brilliant ideas?

I too am trying to transfer Total Access messages into Mail and have stumbled at every attempt to use other software, such as Entourage and OE, as intermediaries. I would love to hear if you get any response to this question. I was able to transfer all the addresses, but not the messages.

  • Can't import mailboxes into Mail

I am trying to import my mailboxes into Mail from my time machine backup but it doesn't work. The backup is from 10.5 and I am now on 10.7. I can't access the old computer I only have time machine. I would also like to import my Address Book contacts. Any tips? Thanks

Restore the mailboxes to a different location, such as the Desktop, and import them into Mail (File > Import Mailboxes...) I haven't tried this myself and I don't know for sure that it will work.

  • Importing sent e-mails as .mbox into Mail.app

After years of putting it off, I decided to finally dump Thunderbird and start using Apple's homegrown Mail app. I had tried multiple methods of getting my e-mails out of Thunderbrid and into Mail but - after many false starts and missing e-mails - I settled on simply selecting all messages in a given folder (inbox, sent) and saving as an .mbox file. Mail's own import tool never worked correctly for me, presumably because I have multiple e-mail accounts that have been merged, transfered between computers and operating systems, and tinkered with so much that Thunderbird's profile folder structure is somehow differing from the norm.
At any rate, I imported my inboxes (in .mbox format) into Mail and it worked beautifully! All the messages were marked as unread, but they were all present and accounted for and I was quite happy.
When I tried the exact same process (selecting all messages and saving as .mbox in Thunderbird, then importing into Mail) for my Sent folder, however, I encountered a problem. Mail only imported a single sent e-mail (the most recent one)! This happened with multiple attempts at multiple separate sent folders. I tried "Get Info" on the .mbox files, and - seeing as they were several hundred MB - they clearly contain more than that single message. This leads me to suspect that the issue isn't with corrupt files or Thunderbird saving them incorrectly, but rather an issue with the way Sent e-mails are handled or read by Mail.
Can anyone explain exactly what is causing this or offer advice on a way to move my sent e-mails over? I am able to save in EML, HTML, Plan Text, and other formats, though it appears that Mail really wants .mbox or a specific file from another app (once again, the Thunderbird import option doesn't work for me, so I am unable to rely on that).
    Find my details below:
    iMac running OSX 10.8.2
    Thunderbird 17.0.2
    Mail 6.2
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Go to File > Import Mailboxes> From Apple Mail.  Then select the parent level folder i.e. [email protected]  From that window will be checkboxes of every possible folder (inbox, draft, deleted, sent, draft) you had in your old Apple Mail.

  • Importing Eudora Address Book into Mail.App on Mountain Lion

HELP - I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8) and didn't realise this meant that my beloved Eudora died on me!
Undaunted I successfully imported my mailbox files from Eudora into MAIL albeit they need cleaning up.
BUT I cannot find the address items anywhere?!?!??!?!?
    I have a MACBOOK PRO that's about 2 years old (2.4 GHz - intel 5 - 4GB RAM) if that makes a difference.
    Three questions:
    1)   Does MAIL use the CONTACTS file on the MAC  ???
    2)  Where the **** are the addresses?  I can't see them in my "EUDORA FOLDER"  IF I could find them I guess I could have a go at importing them into my CONTACTS.
    3)  IF sorry WHEN I find the contacts should it carry over group addresses ???
    Many Thanks

  • Importing Entourage 2008 mailboxes into Mail.app loses message flags

I'm in the process of migrating my data from Entourage 2008 to Mail, iCal and Address Book. The problem is that when I use Mail.app's built-in import from Entourage feature, the messages lose their flag status (read, unread, replied, forwarded, etc) in Mail.app. Does anyone know of a way to preserve this information? Cheers

Well there are some suggested solutions on here if you search for them. Hoever, I eventually worked around it by just importing a section of my old email at a time. A bit tedious, but it worked.

  • Thunderbird email import into Mail.app

When I use the import messages feature of the Mail.app in Leopard OS X, it imports my emails from my Thunderbird profile, but only up until July, and none of the past 4 months. Any idea why it wouldn't import my recent messages of the past 4 months?

  • Imported once into mail, can't do it again...

I recently used o2m (http://www.littlemachines.com/) to export all of my Outlook mailboxes from a pc to .mbox files. I turned to this software after having afew problems exporting other files. They all imported just fine into mail. I went back and grabbed a few more, and now when I import, everything seems to go OK, but after it is done, the program says that the files are "in the folder named 'Import-2' in the mailboxes list" but the folder is not there. anyone else seen this?

RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML but you must select RTF for message composition and then select a font via the Font panel when composing a message.
If you are referring to an HTML composer/editor to insert HTML code with embedded images and/or objects, you can do so with an HTML composer of choice (Text Edit can be used for this). Save the completed document and open the saved document with Safari. After confirming the layout and rendering is OK, at the menu bar go to File and select Mail Contents of This Page. This can be done with any website page selected and the rendered HTML document will be copied to a new Mail.app message which will be sent in its entirety.
Sounds cumbersome but if sending a complex HTML composed message is not something you need to do on a regular basis, it isn't so bad and you can create an HTML template for the Mail.app to be reused when needed.

  • Why I can't I import mbx into Mail?

I am trying to transfer a colleague's e-mails from her old PC (running Windows Mail under Vista) to Apple Mail 6.6 on her MacBook Pro (running OS8.5).
There are a lot of nested folders of email within her existing mail programme.
Using a free utility, I have successfully exported all the emails on the PC, and converted the .eml files to .mbx files, maintaining the file structure, and copied them to the Mac. It should now be simple enough to import the mbx files into Apple Mail.
The import works after a fashion, but it adds an extra level of folders within the file structure, putting each e-mail in its own sub folder within Mail.
    E.g. Instead of seeing IMPORT/INBOX/AnEmail
    I see IMPORT/INBOX/773p6CA1-00---1/AnEmail
This makes it impossible to search the imported emails, so they become pretty useless.
I also tried converting the emails to emlx, and then using the 'Import from Apple Mail' option, but the same thing happens.
HOW CAN I STOP THIS HAPPENING? (It's driving me a bit mad.)
    thanks!

Iphone does not save to the SIM card.
If you have another SIM card that has contacts on it, then use the direction in the manual under settings to import them into the iphone:
Import contacts from a SIM: Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars,” then tap Import SIM
    Contacts.
The contact information on the SIM is imported to iPhone. If you have Contacts
enabled for both MobileMe and Microsoft Exchange, you’re prompted to choose which
account you want to add the SIM contacts to."

  • Can't import mbox into Mail

    Hi,
I thought I had backed up my mail when I was upgrading to a new computer.
I did this by copying the files from Username/Library/Mail/V2/
When I try to import the mbox files by either using the "Import Mailboxes" from Apple Mail or Files in mbox format it gives me the error message "No valid mbox files were found."
I can see all of the folders, emails and attachments in the mbox files when I browse them in the Finder so I know the files are there but I can't seem to get these mbox files to import into Mail.
Does anyone know what's going on with my mbox files or if I didn't grab the right files?
I'd really like to get these emails back into Mail.
    Thanks.
    Demetre

In case someone also has this problem, I seemed to have figured it out.
I had my backed up files in a folder on the desktop.
If you try importing by selecting the mbox directly it says it is not a valid mbox file.
But, if you choose the Desktop it ended up working without any problems and recognizing the mbox files.

  • Temporarily Disable Signatures in Mail App?

In the Mail app, I have only one account, bhabecker. I have a bazillion signatures that randomly rotate through. I have a Christmas set, and a rest-of-the-year set. Previously (and I don't know when this stopped being the case), I would delete all the siggies out of my bhabecker account and replace them with the Christmas ones that were living in All Signatures. After the holidays, I would delete the Christmas ones from bhabecker and re-add the regular ones from the All Signatures "account". Now, if I delete a siggy in my bhabecker account, it also deletes in All Signatures. I am not able to temporarily inactivate a signature now. It's kind of lame. Is this something I can fix?

In Mail Preferences/Signatures, select this account, and then in the Choose Signature box, select None.

  • How can I access Microsoft Entourage (Power PC version) mail into Mail app running Lion OS?

I upgrade to Lion OS10.7 today.
I discovered that the Microsoft version for Mac on my computer is no longer supported by the new OS.
I want to transfer mail that I had downloaded onto my Mac using Entourage.
Attempting to Import the mailbox into Mail gives me an error: "Unable to locate Microsoft Entourage mailboxes to import".
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

Exactly! I did not get any notice that this new OS was going tom break anything so serious on my Mac. Not Apple!
I have talked to Apple Support directly since I posted this issue and seen other articles on the web. Apple removed Rossetta from the OS, which provided support for the PowerPC processor architecture.
I installed a trial version of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac and I was able to import all of my Entourage 2004 mailboxes into Outlook 2011. However, I am unable to export said mailboxes in ANY format that Mac Mail can then import!
Microsoft does not offer any version of Office 2011 as an upgrade, so I am forced to buy a full version at $279.00 in order to keep my messages.
I have also seen other ways to get the messages out of Outlook if I drag the individual messages onto my desktop. The messages will appear as .eml files, which Mail can then open. But I don't want to have to do this for 1000+ messages.
A little disgusted with the whole situation.... :op

  • Import trouble into Mail and Entourage

    Hi All,
Just swtiched to Mac from a PC and I am trying hard to get my Outlook files from my PC imported into Entourage. I've been using the system where your first import the Outlook files into Netscape 7.2, transfer the folder to the Mac, and then important into Mail (eventually into Entourage).
Here's the issue: When I do the import into Mail from the Netscape export, only ONE e-mail shows up in each of my imported folders (some should have thousands of messages). I've tried several times and I can't figure out what is wrong...nor can I seem to find any evidence of anyone else having this problem.
I checked the Netscape export files and they are very large on my big e-mail folders, so I know the data is there.
Please help...I will be very grateful for any assistance!
    Warmly,
    Dave Stachowiak

    Hi Dave.
I don’t know whether it would matter, but I’d use Thunderbird instead of Netscape as the intermediate mail client.
Also (and this does matter), you’d get better results using Eudora Mailbox Cleaner to do the conversion.
Eudora Mailbox Cleaner requires rebuilding the imported mailboxes in Mail afterwards, but instead of rebuilding them one by one, you can re-create the entire index as follows:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see any other “Envelope Index”-named file there, delete it as well.
    4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Yahoo! Mail is suddenly being pulled into Mail App on iPhone

Disovered a strange bug today - I use the Yahoo! Mail app (v. 1.5.9) on iOS7. My Yahoo account is NOT linked to the Mail App. However, today when I fired up my iPhone I discovered that all of my new Yahoo mail was being pulled into my Mail App mailbox, and new messages were not showing up in the Yahoo account. I've tried rebooting the phone and signing out of Yahoo mail - but so far no changes.
    Anyone else encounter this?
I do not have IMAP or POP set up on the Yahoo account.

Upon more investigation I think this is a problem with the new migration in Yahoo Mail  and not with iOS - when Yahoo switched my mail account to the new version the migration appeared to turn forwarding on to my external email. After digging around in their mail settings I discovered that forwarding had been magically enabled. I've since shut it off and the problem appears resolved.
